Solid lunch choice with very attentive service. Chicken katsu and BBQ pork vermicelli were delicious. Squash tempura batter was thicker than expect and less tempura like.

After picking up some things in the bayshore area, my sis and I decided to have lunch in Bernal Heights. It's a cute area with a bunch of restaurants and stores. Kiwa Kitchen popped up when checking yelp. It was only a few minutes away from where we were at. Parking can take awhile but side streets usually have 2 hr parking. Check the signs to make sure there's no street cleaning! Kiwa Kitchen has this island vibe with Hawaiian music playing in the background. Looking over the menu, it's a melting pot of different Asian dishes. We decided to share the chicken kaarage, tea leaf salad and a tonkatsu ramen. The kaarage was tasty little bits of chicken and tea leaf salad was good as well. However, the ramen noodles were overcooked and soggy. The broth was kind of bland. And the egg was not your typical ramen egg but a soft boiled egg without the umami flavor. Maybe the chef had an off day or this is how it's supposed to be? I wouldn't recommend the ramen. Maybe the vermicelli or garlic noodles would have been a better choice. I guess I'll stick to ramen restaurants for ramen.

Teriyaki salmon was great, and the teriyaki chicken was pretty good though could've been toasted a bit longer with more sauce. California rolls were great, exactly what you'd expect/want. Tempura was amazing and we were given a lot on each of the dinner combos. Miso soup and side salads were good and fitting. Spicy BBQ pork was flavorful, though not very spicy (which isn't a big deal). Only small complaint was the over abundance of onion included with the spicy BBQ pork, but overall not a problem. Would definitely recommend this place to others!

The sauces blasting with flavor, the heat was perfect. The sushi was it! Highly recommend.

I've been here twice…read morenow, and both times the sushi rolls came out beautifully presented and tasted even better. If you come around 8pm, you likely won't have to wait long since the dinner rush tends to slow down by then. Some of the best seats are near the entrance where you can watch the sushi chefs preparing the food. When we arrived, the staff brought complimentary edamame for the table while we looked over the menu. I appreciate when edamame isn't overloaded with salt, and they did a great job keeping it simple and flavorful. I love spicy food, so my friend and I split the spicy tuna roll, the hot girl roll, and the baked scallop roll. Each one was delicious, but the hot girl roll was my favorite. It's topped with spicy tuna and jalapeños and had the perfect kick. The baked scallop roll came out hot and gooey, covered in a sweet garlic sauce that paired really well with the scallops. The restaurant is also vegetarian-friendly, which is one of the reasons we chose it. My partner ordered the avocado maki, veggie dragon roll, and the futo maki. His favorite was the veggie dragon roll, which includes avocado and eggplant. The futo maki wasn't as much of a hit for him, but that may just be because he's not a big fan of radish. Overall, I'd definitely recommend this place for the quality of the food and the welcoming service. It's located in a small shopping center with its own parking lot, which is a big plus since you don't have to worry about finding street parking.

It's definitely a popular spot on the weekends as we had to wait a bit each time before a table became free for us. There's a bit of outdoor seating, but hey.. Brisbane gets cold and foggy at night, but if you have a four legged friend with you, that's the proper way to go.. We come here as a party of six a couple of times now. The service and food quality was consistently good with attentive friendly prompt service both times. Busy sushi counter with three sushi chefs slicing and dicing away! Highlights here for me were the big thick super fresh pieces of sushi (Toro, Salmon and Albacore), and the Tonkatsu Pork Curry Rice. Though the menu seems vast, I didn't really encounter anything that I didn't enjoy. The Dragon and "Heart Attack" rolls were perfect. Everything was just on point or better. Well... wait.. I didn't think the Sushi Tacos were that great, as they were unexpectedly spicy and fall apart rather easily. Eh.. I'll master that maybe next time. Lots of angled parking out in front. I wouldn't mind coming back here anytime. It's a bustling busy place in otherwise sleepy Brisbane!

The first time I came here, I got the strawberry matcha latte with my friends. We ordered it via delivery on DoorDash, and I'm not sure if it's just the whole delivery part, but I could not taste any part of the strawberry! It just tasted like regular cream on top. Typically I'm more of a coffee person than matcha, so I'm not a great judge in whether this was good matcha or not. But I guess it did taste ok in my opinion. The funny thing is, my coworker also said the same thing when she ordered the strawberry matcha latte a separate time! Disappointing. A separate time, we also ordered from them via delivery. This time I was eager to try their food items instead, since they have a pretty interesting selection, like those cake sandwiches and various Japanese items. I got the spam masubi, which I thought would be a solid choice. It did arrive warm, but the slice of spam that was in the masubi was so thin! It was the thinnest piece of spam I had ever gotten, and I've gotten spam masubis at a variety of places including ABC stores and other places in Hawaii, and even various stores in the States. The rice was okay, some brown rice thing with seasoning, that was decent but not my preferred white rice. Overall my two times here have been disappointing. I will really never line up for this place in person, nor will I understand why people do.

The server explained what each nigiri was and I honestly enjoyed every single one. My friend has a shellfish allergy and they were super accommodating and switched out certain nigiris for her. The fish was so fresh and melted in my mouth. I highly recommend getting the tasting to try out different pieces. We also ordered the snow mountain roll which included white tuna. I also enjoyed this role. Everything paired really well together. The Gyoza was also tastier than I was expecting. Super crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The koueigiku sake paired so well with all the food. Super smooth, sweet and went down easily. It was $24 per glass, which was on the pricier side but worth it.
