This review is for the service & "The Commander" sandwich. The build up makes you want to order. Then you get it & you're hit with a HUGE disappointment. The sandwich was dry, it had ZERO seasoning, and there was a smallllllllll, itty bitty amount of some sort of sauce on the bun. Then I get a side of bbq. I came here last Friday to try some of their highly praised Filipino dishes. This place is located off the road in Brisbane within this industrial type area. It looks random at first but at the same time, very unique. It reminds me of a dive bar for truck drivers from the outside and heading inside, it also gives you that feeling. It's a pretty small restaurant sports bar with majority of the seating being outside. I ordered their Sisig Manila Style, Sizzling Pork Adobo with rice, Lumpia Sampler, Calamari, and Ube Cheesecake for dessert. The Sisig is our favorite pick because it's fatty with that nice sizzling taste and texture. It's bold with a good flavor and pairs nicely with the runny egg. This dish is a must. The adobo was just ok. Honestly, it wasn't my type of adobo and was too watery, thin, and slightly bland. It just tasted like watered down soy sauce and light vinegar over shredded pork meat. The calamari was a big portion and went great with the garlic aioli sauce. I also didn't like the lumpia's. The lumpia was soggy and way too bland with little filling. It didn't have that authentic taste to them which was a bummer. I'd avoid this sampler. We thoroughly enjoyed their Ube cheesecake though! It was sweet, tasty, and had a nice cream cheese texture. The makapuno coconut shreds paired great with the cheesecake and made it so unique. We'd definitely order this again. Overall, I thought it was just ok. I listened to the hype and yes, it was too much. For those that aren't Filipinos or didn't grow up having authentic homemade Filipino food, you could tell the difference. Pretty solid Filipino-American sports bar near the Cow Palace venue. We went around 5pm for dinner right before the event and it was a very lively atmosphere - both the Knicks championship game and FIFA World Cup were playing in alternating TV screens so it was crazy. We got the espresso martini flight, beef and chicken lumpia, and sizzling pork adobo. The espresso martini flight was pretty good - I never would've thought to try different variations like ube churro, salted peanut butter, and banana pandan - a small deviation from the classic, but it boasts wonderful fusion flavors. The lumpia was good but they mixed it so it's a gamble if you got chicken or pork, and I wish they separated it out so we all get an equal share of each. The sizzling pork adobo is good but could be better. The rice is a bit overcooked. Service is very slow - it's fine given all the sports playing, but it is quite inefficient. The last mile house that last for over 168 years is an amazing sight, with many stories of old to tell, along with survival stories like COVID that 7 Mile House stronger and better than ever. Used to serve anything that's both American and Italian, until Vanessa had made it into a family run small business restaurant which was absolutely welcoming for both locals and tourists alike since 2004. It's the only reason I come to 7 Mile House during Asian History Month that aims for Filipino fun. My specialty drink: Ube Colada (non-alcoholic). I want to try the Lambanóg, but it's few years late and I wouldn't mind since I prefer any drink that's zero proof. This creamy purple smoothie is so refreshing, I wouldn't mind getting a brain freeze. Main course? Actually, I take something out of the lunch menu, which is Beyond Burger; pickles at the top, lettuce, tomato, and cheese; old school American style with a plant based patty! I eat the fries first since they're fresh and chewy. Wish I stick around for an appetizer or a salad; but given that there's several people dining indoors while few of us outdoors, I'll have to pass. Before I walk a couple of blocks toward 7 Mile House, I noticed the gas prices for both gas stations are just as high as near my neighborhood. I'll be wondering how long will a famous family run restaurant can go an extra mile before it runs out of steam. My Uber driver was a fellow bay native, and recommended this spot for good lumpia. What I didn't realize was how amazing it was going to be with drinks, desserts, appetizer, vibe, and everything else. Little corner spot off the road with decent parking down the street. The inside has a dive bar feel, with two outside patio areas, one was striped and simple and the other area has glitter reefs, a TV, and a little more upbeat. We sat there and took a corner table on a day where the weather was perfect and it was a vibeee. This spot has alot of bay history which you can feel, and we loved that. Stanley Cup Finals were on today, and every TV in the bar was set to the news. We asked the bartender if he could put the game on, but were told they were waiting for the World Cup, which didn't even start until 7 PM, and it wasn't even 6 PM. It seemed like a simple request to put the hockey game on for an hour while everyone waited. To make matters worse, we ordered Modelo only to find out the tap was out. Between the lack of flexibility, unavailable beer, and overall poor service, the experience was disappointing. This is our neighborhood bar, so it's especially frustrating. Unfortunately, we'll be taking our business elsewhere. We ended up leaving and finding another spot with friendlier service, working taps, and staff who seemed interested in accommodating customers. The flavor was decent, but it really needed the soy sauce vinegar dipping sauce that came on the side to add some acidity and balance. The sweet chili garlic wings were good, but the sauce reminded me a lot of Mae Ploy sweet chili sauce. Both entrees were flavorful, but overall they leaned too salty for my taste. The pork adobo was tender, but I wished it had more vinegar and black pepper flavors. That's just how I enjoy my adobo though. I also found myself wanting more acidity in the sisig to cut through the richness. The drinks were fine. The Mango Margarita can be ordered blended or on the rocks. I chose it blended, but it was a little too sweet for my preference. The Ube-B-Boba was enjoyable but didn't particularly stand out. Overall, the food was fine, but nothing really wowed us. So glad we went here. We came here after Cow's Palace from the Great Dickens fair, and they had a kids menu. We found parking pretty easy. My son was napping when we came in as we tried stretching his nap due to our itinerary during the limited time we were here. His dad enjoyed the soda and ice cream on his behalf (my son is currently 13 months, has been eating solids since 6 months, and has 14-16 teeth , which is why we went with what we chose). They had two bathrooms, no changing area for kiddos, and a back patio as well as seating before you enter. High chairs were available upon request. And sounds like if you were local, you do get a bunch of coupons/incentives to be a return patron. One of the patrons at the tables shared their free coupon with us, and my husband got to enjoy the mango margarita. They said they often get coupons in the mail here. Came to watch the disappointing Niners game, and luckily the vibes at 7 mile house made up for their loss. We had a 4:30 reservation, and we stayed for a majority of the game and didn't feel rushed at all, which I really appreciated! I am sure they have their fans, I just didn't find it all that great. The food was pretty okay. I had the steak sandwich and it served its purpose. My wife order the pork Sisig, which was probably the best thing they got there. Other mentionablies were the wings with a sweet and spicy dipping sauces and veggie spring rolls, both were good. Parking, the location is interesting but it had plenty of parking which is surprising for a restaurant in the Bay because typically it's hard to find parking. Nice mom and pop restaurant. It small inside with limited tables but they make up for it with outdoor seating. Outdoor was actually very warm with the heat lamps and sealed properly to prevent wind draft entering. We visited Seven Mile House because I love historical places and was curious to finally see what this one is about. To be honest, we didn't really enjoy our experience. The interior inside was nice, but we asked to sit outside since the weather was good and we wanted some fresh air. Unfortunately, the outdoor area felt very old and not well-maintained. I think this place works best if you come for a casual lunch, a drink, or to watch a sports even, but definitely not for a date or a special outing. The atmosphere just doesn't give you that kind of vibe, and it's hard to fully enjoy it. As for the food, it was okay, but nothing we would come back for. The only thing I really liked was my cocktail, the mango margarita, which seems to be a popular choice. Overall, it was interesting to visit this historical spot at least once, but we left a bit disappointed, mainly because of the food. Literally 5 star service and restaurant. I reserved online for an outdoor patio since i was bringing my dog in case it was busy. I absolutely love how this place is dog friendly and the patio is so cute where you can bring your fur babies. I ordered the ube colada and It's so dangerously good you wouldn't think there is any alcohol in there i def felt a slight buzz. For an appetizer i got the calamari and it had a nice crunch and love how they included fries. The Brazilian fish chowder was delicious and the portion was super big i could've shared it easily with 2 other people. First time here with my three girlfriends for Sunday happy hour. I was happy they offered a weekend happy hour menu, but there weren't many options. We ordered a total of four lemon drops and three margaritas from the happy hour menu. For food, we ordered two orders of Angus beef tacos, two orders of pulled pork sliders, and two orders of fries -- one garlic and one seasoned. Both the tacos and sliders were just okay. If the slider buns had been heated, they would have been better, but instead they were cold, like they had just taken the buns straight out of the Hawaiian bread bag and added pulled pork. As for the fries, they were very oily. I know fries are usually oily, but these were extremely greasy. It felt like they hadn't been drained enough before being served, as there was a lot of oil at the bottom. Service was quick, since the tacos and sliders came out less than 5 minutes. The only thing that took over 20 minutes was our fries, which I think they may have forgotten. The place is dark and not modern, but it has a lot of historical charm. If you're looking for a modern spot, this isn't it. However, if you haven't been here before, it's still a good experience. I might not come back, but if my friends wanted to, I would. Surprising phillipino food found either a decent size dog friendly outdoor space. There was also a dog menu with the usual chicken, beef patty, pigs ear and then there are surprise lumpia and beer for the pups. At the outskirts of San Francisco lies this historic gem! This is a great place to have a good time with friends and family. I ordered the pork adobo dish and it is a must try! Lovely presentation and the adobo was served sizzling on a hot plate. It was my first time trying fish lumpia and it was a great flavor. There are so many more dishes on the menu that I want to try. This place is great for a group and the outside patio is chill on a sunny day. I hear the desserts are lovely as well! Ps. If you have a dog, they have a whole menu for them! read more
