Five spice chicken with garlic noodles

Pho Day | San Francisco 1. Five spice chicken garlic noodles 2. Combo beef noodle soup 3. Imperial rolls Pho Day is a Vietnamese noodle shop located in Bernal Heights, San Francisco, offering a solid variety of comfort food. You'll find everything from pho noodle soups and garlic noodles to vermicelli bowls, rice plates, and banh mi sandwiches. My friend and I ordered the five spice chicken garlic noodles, combo beef noodle soup, and imperial rolls. The food came out relatively quickly--and let me tell you, it did not disappoint. I'll definitely be coming back to try their Bún Bò Huế, a spicy beef noodle soup that's next on my list!

This spot is in the neighborhood so it's convenient, but it isn't my favorite. I do like their garlic noodle and protein dishes more than their pho. They are Chinese owned so it's not as authentic. The pho broth is decent but the noodles always have that undercooked starchy taste. I'm bummed that they only have sriracha as their hot sauce as I usually prefer chili oil or sambal. They also don't have sauce ramekins. They close very early and pretty much kick you out half an hour before the listed closing time. I find the food to be somewhat inconsistent as well.

Delicious!! I've been here several times, and it never disappoints. The broth in the pho is very flavorful. The shrimp was cooked to perfection, and the wontons were really good. The staff members were very friendly and attentive. One of my favorite places in the city for Pho

For some reason, it's been a year since we had Pho Day. Came to my surprise that the price has significantly increased while the proportions shrunk. I understand times are rough but double negatives? That leaves a sour taste to our meal. Ordered bun Bo hue ($16 in 2024), $20.40 in 2025 through DD. Food still tastes good but my god, I hope this message reaches the owner but please!!! Please!! PLEASE change your soup containers that can actually sustain your boiling soup. I don't know how many times I had complained about the order arriving melted through and my food arrived in a soupy mess. Not to mention I ingest some form of melted plastic with the food. I can't be the only one who receives melted containers. It's time for a change, you're basically making almost $10 more out of me for every meal since 2024, you can afford to find better to go soup containers.

Nice place, but not my favorite Pho in the city. Service was sweet! I think the broth just lacked flavor, but the raw beef was very very tender! The place felt a little bit not cozy and cold.

Perhaps because my brain is a melting popsicle of pop trivia, when I see the name of this place, I keep envisioning a computer-slenderized Paula Abdul singing "The Promise of a Pho Day". Noodles calling and they're calling my name Broth is boiling, inducing farts of change Why do I feel this way? The promise of a pho day The promise, the promise of a pho day... I think the staff should sing this 1991 ditty when I make my order of the $14.50 Chicken Noodle Soup. Yes, that's what they call their pho ga, and that's fine because it brings back memories of Campbell's in a can. However, the pho ga here is high quality with poultry pieces with the skin still attached (photo: https://yelp.to/VOfM9Xx47R). Hey, that's my preference anyway. I can't help it. I'm a creature of habit. They serve all the food you'd expect from a Vietnamese family restaurant - banh mi, rice plates, noodle bowls, French fries...French fries? - but hey, I'm stuck on the chicken noodle soup because I like it. To me, that fulfills the promise of a pho day. See the wisdom from mistakes in our past Hear the younger generation ask "Why do I feel this way?" The promise of a pho day FOOD - 4 stars...fulfilling pho ga no matter what they call it AMBIANCE - 4 stars...always room for me here SERVICE - 4 stars...quietly compelling TOTAL - 4 stars...it's the promise of a pho day RELATED - Exploring the Outer Mission? Oat Matcha latte. they used ceremonial matcha, very foamy and smooth, will come back for this

Stopped by for a bowl of pho as I always do, and found out they have a new drink menu, cream top matcha and coffee! I tried the matcha latte with oat milk, surprisingly good, super foamy and the matcha tastes strong and smooth in a vibrant green color. Their matcha is sweetened by default, but you can ask for no sweet added. Which I did. Matcha & pho sounds strange but it works! Will come back to try more!

Found a another good Vietnamese spot near my office. I must have passed by this place a hundred times and never thought to trying it. My mistake. I had the 5-spice chicken with garlic noodles. It is one of my Go To orders, if the restaurant offers it. Fortunately, it was a good choice. The chicken was tender and flavorful. The noodles nice & garlicky. The egg on the noodles was a wonderful bonus. I also ordered the fried egg rolls, which were so good, I thought about ordering another for the road. But, that would have made me feel shameful. My coworker ordered the Spicy Satay Rare Beef Noodle Soup. She said it was very good and it smelled incredible. She also ordered a Bahn Mi for the road. All in all, this is a good choice for the are and I will definitely be going back.

Meatballs were more like pieces of stale sausage... it smelled horrible I tossed it in the sink the second I tasted it...spicy beef noodle soup so gross .... Noodles had been probably boiled a week in advance...I didn't get one single entire noodle just pieces of them...

So we tried this place when it first opened just a few years ago, and happy to report they are still phenomenal. My kids order here at least once a week if not twice. They are obsessed! Seriously amazing quality food all around. And yes the banh mi may seem expensive but trust me it's worth it. It's all worth it.

Nice workers, cute place, less than impressive pho unfortunately. Wont rag too much but I definitely prefer the place down the street. The broth was just not to my preference. too dark oddly sweet. Spring roll was adequate.

Was in the mood for some Vietnamese food, so I stopped by Pho Day. I ordered the five spice chicken with garlic noodles and fresh spring rolls. The five spice chicken was cooked to perfection. The skin was crispy and full of flavor. While the meat was moist and delicious. The garlic noodles had just enough garlic. Unfortunately, it was a bit too dry and chewy. Maybe I came on an off day since my friend said the noodles are always tasty and cooked to perfection. The shrimp spring rolls with peanut dipping sauce were very tasty. The vermicelli noodles were soft, and the shrimps were good sized. I would come back to try out the other dishes.

No-frills corner shop for pho, accessible via public transit, and large portions of noodles. Can't really ask for too much more. It seems like they do mostly takeout since we saw many customers pick up their meals in the hour we were there.

Ask the Community - Pho Day

Do they use fresh pho noodles like Pho Huong Viet or Pho Hanoi in SJ?

No this is not an authentic viet place

I've never been, should I go? Or is there a better pho place nearby?

You should definitely try this place out. It really is the best Pho I have had in a long time. I tried the 5 spice chicken which was absolutely delicious. I feel like the broth can make or break it and theirs was so delicious - seemed really fresh.

Decided to try the Happy hour at this Japanese place and was blown away…read more Its a small place, maybe 8 tables tops squeezed into this narrow space but it was fantastic. Gretted when we entered, we slid into one the few open tables. The decor was charming, and we were quickly gretted by our server with menus and water. My sister and I split some appetizer items so we could try various items, and every single dish was a taste sensation. The gyoza was crisp on the outside while packed with a savory meat, drizzled with sauce. The Karaage was tender chicken encased in a light fried pankostyle casing, also drizzled with a sauce, and the flavor, each bite was satisfying without being too filling. The Kabocha Kor, were panko fried pumpkin patties with a tonkatsu style sauce that brought the taste buds to a more earthier place . The Tokoyaki, were tender fried octopus balls in a sauce that I would have been happy to hunker down with a large bowl of and just crush, easily my favorite bite, which is saying something as no bute was bad . We closed with an order of Hotate, which was a grilled scallop skewer. Somewhere between sea and bay scallops in size, they were an awesome cap to the dining experience. With a this, I washed it down with a peach-weizen beer which was the perfect accompaniment to the meal. Every dish was fantastic in flavor, sauces, and texture. On top of all this, the service was excellent, and the happy hour prices very much in reason.

We started off with the Mekyabetsu (Brussels sprouts), Ba-Ra (pork belly), and Kobe (beef). The Brussels sprouts were my fav starter, and the sauce paired so well with it. The Ba-Ra was pretty good, but nothing amazing, and same for the Kobe, which I found to be a bit bland. We also split the Hokkaido Miso ramen. The broth had a great flavor, and the pork chashu was possibly the best I've ever had(!) as it was soooo tender and flavorful, and not very fatty. I did think the cauliflower left room to be desired, and kinda took away from the ramen overall. We finished our meal off with the matcha Panna cotta - this was a great dessert and wasn't too sweet ;) This place definitely seems to be pretty good at a lot of dishes, but not amazing at any single one. The vibe is great, service was great, and prices are a biiiiti steep but not unreasonable.
