Grilled Pork and Imperial Roll with Vermicelli
    Edgar M.

Two things happened. Random find and friend recalls this restaurant as a place to try. We had ended up having a late lunch bite. After one place was closed on the same street, Pho Ga caught our eye and appetite. Local restaurant with a relaxed vibe. Staff was welcoming, appreciated us being there. We ordered their soup and vermicelli dishes, spot on! Came out fast, tasty and full of flavor! Setting for lunch was relaxed and chill. Definitely be back when in area, not too far from downtown SF. Check it out, I did.

I love coming here every time because they always have fresh chicken meat and authentic chicken soup. I love how it's thick and soft rice noodles too. The food always comes out quick, whether you dine in, take it togo, or door-dash. I always tell my friends and friends to get the pho ga here. The service is always nice whenever I come. This place fits about 45 people here I believe and great for family gatherings.

A SOLID Reliable Choice for Vietnamese Chicken Pho' (Noodle Soup). Great quality fresh ingredients, fast and friendly service. No-nonsense unfancy vibe with engineered stone tables and a airy high ceiling. #12 - Chicken Pho (Chicken Noodle Soup ) Light healthy broth, but just a tiny tad light on the quantity of cage free chicken this time. That said, what was there was delightful, tender and juicy. Noodles on point thin and slurpy! This humungous bowl is served with a side of minced ginger & salt aioli, and the usual side of fresh bean sprouts, freshly cut mint leaves and jalapenos,. Except for a light helping of the sprouts, I dunk the rest of it into the soup. The result is just delightful on a cold winter's night anytime out here in the not-so-sunny Sunset District. (4.4/5) PRO TIP - Be SURE to dab in some of that minced ginger & salt aioli in with your chicken. YUM!!! #23 - Five Spice Chicken Noodle Soup: For a dollar more than the Chicken Pho, you get a lot more chicken - roasted dark meat with a crispy skin. Sublty seasoned and good in soup. but then, I kinda like the flavoring of the #12 Chicken Pho a little bit better, but here, the meat lovers might be more satisfied. (4.7/5) #3 - Grilled Pork Spring Rolls: it says 2 pieces on the menu, but here you really get 4 sections - quite enough for 2-3 people. very crunchy lettuce inside with a bit of vermicelli and a good amount of grilled pork. Yummy, and a healthier alternative to the usual deep fried imperial rolls, which I haven't yet tried here. (4.8/5) Verdict: Great place to come for Chicken Pho, and the sides aren't bad either. We like it!

Solid Vietnamese spot! We were actually planning to eat at Mama Mu's Bistro next door, but they weren't open at opening time so we headed over to Pho Ga instead and I'm so glad we did. Everything was good - the imperial rolls were crispy, the pho was hot & perfect for a cold day, and the five spice chicken with garlic noodles was tasty. Service was very friendly and quick. I'm happy we wandered in!

Ended up here on a rainy day when the original place we were headed ended up being closed. I'm so glad we did. Ordered the five spice chicken noodle soup and the pho with rare beef and brisket. The broth was incredibly flavorful and the soup was packed with meat and noodles. Service was quick and the interior had plenty of tables. Will definitely be coming back!

Eaten at Pho Ga long time ago when they first opened. Actually this is a very good neighborhood Vietnamese place. It's cute, cozy and clean inside. The portions are very generous and reasonably priced. The broth is favorable and lots of noodle and a dish of the vegetables to throw in the broth. The five spice chicken was also very tasty and good. Service was great and we were able to sit and talk and not rushed out, but we kept an eye on the customers coming in, just in case they needed our table. While we were there they had a lot of call-in take out orders to go. Great service, good food, decent prices. I will be back and want to try their other entrees.

Cute cozy and clean inside. Friendly service. We got five spice chicken pho, shrimp garlic noodles, imperial rolls and red bean ice, and everything was really tasty. The portions are generous with reasonable prices. We'll be back.

I've been here two times now, and their pho ga is solid. It's perfect on a cold day or when you're feeling a little under the weather. I ordered the pho ga both times. It's a simple dish with noodles, chicken, and garnishing. It's simple but delicious. The broth has good flavor (not bland at all). The chicken is tender and you get a good amount. All in all, I would come back whenever I'm craving pho ga.

PHO GA on Noriega & 20th Avenue in the Outer Sunset was a quaint little place to drop into for a quick bite while running errands. Interior is light, bright and inviting. Greeted immediately stepping inside. Seating was plentiful since I had missed the lunch hour. I was fixated on pork chops for some reason so that's what I ordered! Hours: 10:30AM-8PM Everyday FRESH SPRING ROLLS w/shrimp, peanut dipping sauce. My go-to fav to order. Added some Siracha to the peanut sauce and it was gold! COMBO PORK CHOPS w/fresh steamed rice, Imperial roll, little green salad, fried egg, nuoc Cham dipping sauce. This was the perfect, flavorful, filling plate that hit the spot! Could use a little more char on the pork chops but that's it! Total yum! I'd come back to PHO GA again to have their namesake pho! Once I was happily chomping through my awesome pork chop combo, Noticed that a majority of diners were noshing on pho! Lol. See you there!

Ordered takeout on Sat evening and there were a couple tables available. They had my order ready, the chicken pho is the highlight here with their tasty scallion ginger oil to pair the tender chicken with. It's a fast casual spot with quick Chinese service so don't expect much here.

This place is amazing! The woman who took my to-go order was so sweet over the phone. Food was ready when I arrived, she was super sweet in person too. The pho was delicious! And the portions are big!! We also ordered the five spice chicken with garlic noodles. YUM!! The place is very clean, and inviting!

The beef soup was good. It really tasted like they made it from scratch. The beef was tender. The mint and bean sprouts were not as fresh looking as I would like so I did not use them. The Crispy Chicken was very good. It was Crispy and It was very tasty. The service was ok they just opened when I got there so the server was busy doing some chores. I actually had to get her attention a couple of times to ask for something. The place is clean and nicely decorated.

I tried to call you but there is no way to do so. Got an order dropped off tonight at our building but none of the neighbors ordered it so it was a clear error. No address on the bag. I hope you can refund whoever is looking for it?

Can you clarify who owns and runs this? Is it Vietnamese? Chinese?

most of them, are chinese speakers. i cannot verify if they are vietnamese/ viet-chinese as well, just because most vietnamese speakers can also speak cantonese in sf.

It didn't have a ton of flavor, but the texture was good. You can watch the chefs working right behind the counter, which is kind of cool. The whole meal came out to a little over 40 dollars after tax, so expect to pay a bit more for the experience. Overall, it's a cool spot to get fresh clean soba and it's close to Super Mira.

I was in SF one afternoon and decided to kill an hour by waiting in their line. I showed up at 3.10 PM and there was no line, I stood anyway and later the line built up behind me. Place is not the safest, I saw some folks trying to open the parked cars on that street hoping to find one that was unlocked . Not all folks who made it before their 4 PM opening managed to get a table in the first round. The place only seats around 20 people or so and they have a mandatory requirement that each person has to order a bowl of ramen. We got the following *enoki chips: 3/5: salty, limp, greasy to the point of floating in a pool of oil. *vegan tantanmen-2.5/5- disappointed by this one. Had better vegan ramen at several other establishments. The version here has two dominant flavors- extremely smoky and bitter. The kale didn't help as well. The enoki chashu was interesting though, had the texture of meat. *classic toripaitan-4.5/5- this was good and I can see why it got the awards. Had a rich and deep taste of chicken. All the elements helped elevate the bowl. *spicy lamb miso cumin-4/5- the flavors of cumin and lamb just shone through here. If you enjoy the flavor of lamb get this. The fried eggplant was epic in this dish. Overall, not worth the wait, the vegan ramen can be avoided unless you are a vegan. Get the classic toripaitan as that was the best.

They allegedly have a few limited reservation slots but a majority of their service is first come first serve. You stand in line and wait. I would not recommend coming in large groups. In fact, I'd go as far as to say groups larger than 4 are basically contraindicated. The space inside is quite tight, think narrow, barstool-height seating and tiny tables. When my friend and I were seated after about a 40 min wait, we had spent so much time perusing the menu that we basically knew what we were going to get. Service was really kind and quick. My thoughts on the food below: Kabocha croquet: these were freshly fried and served PIPING hot. The perfectly crisp exterior and soft, non mushy interior were just the perfect textures contrasted against each other. The sweetness of the pumpkin meant that the vinegar heavy house dipping sauce was a requirement not a suggestion. The side salad also provided some freshness with each bite, not that the croquets were too greasy at all! They were well drained so just the crunch remained without the oil. Tori Tsukune: these Japanese chicken meatball skewers were HUGE and DELICIOUS. Perfectly grilled with a charred taste, relentlessly tender inside. Dipped in the accompanying soy sauce and egg yolk mixture it was simply heavenly. The yolk added a mild richness to each bite. Hotate carpaccio: this was the most unique take on scallops I've had in a while. The flavors seem strange at first glance (and first taste, if I'm being totally honest), but it took no more than two chews for me to change my tune. First off, the scallops are plump, crisply sweet, and buttery soft in the way that high quality scallops are. Next, the onion and yuzu provide a sharp yet floral aroma to each bite. The floral taste was initially jarring but became addictive. The drizzle of cream sauce on top tempered the sharpness and gave the dish a smooth finish. Truly a memorable scallop dish!! Midori udon: a scallop and pesto stir fry udon dish. This was unexpected combo when I read the menu, but it was so good! The briny and sweet little scallops were cooked to a perfect tender texture and they paired well with the mild, herbaceous pesto. The udon provided the perfect slurp. While I'm more of a soup noodle girl myself, this was an addictive and unique Japanese-Italian fusion! Niku Ramen: Taniku has a lot of inventive ramen offerings but the niku ramen stood out to me. I've had and enjoyed niku udon before, though I usually find the broth to be too sweet. This dish took all the best parts of niku udon - the mountains of tender, marinated beef, the soft boiled egg, the tender onions - and put them into a richer, heartier broth with thin ramen noodles and the outcome was fantastic. One of the most memorable bowls of ramen I've had in a while. The broth was seriously delicious. I'm such a big soup person so I keep coming back to that. It wasn't too sweet or too salty in the way that a lot of noodle soup broths are, but still managed to impart a ton of flavor. The meaty, fishy flavor was so drinkable. For the quality and quantity of food vs the price you pay, I was incredibly impressed by Taniku Izakaya!!!! Just banger after banger after banger. I saw that they have some good happy hour deals as well so I will definitely be coming back for more of their delightful apps and skewers. I cannot recommend this spot enough, there's a reason people queue for it.

I've been to plenty of Japanese/Ramen spots and I've been running into the issue where I say I have a soy allegry and there is an assumption that I have a gluten issue (I do not have a gluten issue). I noticed yelp said they have soy-free options and thus called on Friday thinking it might be a bad idea as they're usually busy.. It was defintely hard for the person to hear a bit when they picked up. The staff did relay something about gluten free noodles.. Anyways, they said they could swap out any of the soy soups for salt (but soy can encompass a lot of things so I still wasn't feeling super confident but we're going to give it a go). We go and I asked which 4 of the soups I was eyeballing don't have soy - the staff said they can accomodate and replace any of the soy soups with a salt broth. After we ordered, the staff came back and checked in to make sure that my partner also didn't have an allergy. And my dish came out, they told me there was no egg as its marinated in soy - perfect to me. I'm glad that was caught as not every establishments can account for everything. - Now I have a spot to (more safely) eat ramen! - I advise that if you do have an food allergy, do talk to the staff, and address your concerns such as cross contamination etc. I had a great experience, but I do find that because its not so regulated or understood and there is lack of education amongst the food/resturant industry - you always need to advocate for yourself and there is always a risk. I'm very apperciative of the staff here.
