Hang Out Spot with some big changes to their walls (minus the Bar-turned takeout counter). I went here by myself today after finding out Noriega Star Restaurant closes early now (at 5.) Pho Ga restaurant down the street kinda sucked, so why not try here? Ambiance is kinda chill, it's this one no nonsense waiter/cashier running the whole thing on a Friday night. Price: average $15-$16 for pho. I've seen more expensive. Decor on the front and that mural that used to have chan can teng replaced with Viet Stuff. Service is super fast (you sit down, the guy is okay with you figuring out what to get), then the food comes out in under 5 minutes, so does the authentic dripping hot vier coffee. Brewed tableside. Bun bo Hue- Main attraction- lacks the signature spice but has those lemongrass notes and generous meat portions So pho... Not bad! I'll come back with more people to try the rest of their offerings!

Bought a to-go half Hai Han Chicken tonight. Hard to tell if real half chicken.

Bought a Half Hai Nam chicken to-go tonight. Hard to tell if full half chicken or chicken is that small. To me, the top and bottom of the piece of the breast is missing, not sure if cut of neatness. Was 2-star, added back one star for taste. $15.5 plus tax.

This is a cash-only spot, but was a great place to come by for a quick and relatively cheap lunch if you can find parking nearby. I came with my mom and grandma and we ordered everything to share. We got the banh xeo, bo kho, lemongrass beef with rice paper wraps, and grilled pork. The food came pretty quickly, and we all started with the pho bo kho. The stewed beef pieces were so tender and packed full of flavor. The soup was savory and rich, with a nice tomatoey tang. I definitely liked this dish the most. The banh xeo was huge, and came with mint, lettuce, lightly pickled carrots, and fish sauce. The banh xeo was packed full with pork, shrimp, and bean sprouts. I enjoyed wrapping this up with lettuce and dipping it into the fish sauce. All the veggies were fresh and balanced out the meat well. The beef and pork were just okay to me, they were a bit dry for my taste but were good in a rice paper wrap dipped into the fish sauce. Service was quick and prompt, nothing to complain about here. I'm not sure if I'd come again if I was in the area, there are many other food options on Noriega.

3.5 /5 I was in town for business and met with an old friend for lunch. He said he had heard this place was pretty good, so we came here for lunch around 2:30. This place was near empty, just a couple of solo diners. It felt spacious with its high ceilings and there are some artwork on the walls to give the place some character. My friend ordered chicken noodle soup, which I assume is pho with chicken. I tried their garlic noodles with bbq chicken. The food came out fairly quickly and was served nice and hot. Besides the noticeable garlic flavor, it was a bit salty for my palate. My friend said his pho was good but nothing to boast about. We both ordered Vietnamese coffee, the slow drip kind and not the premixed, and it was potent. I love strong coffee and this was one of the boldest ones I've had and gave me the jolt to keep me going. The owner was friendly when I engaged her in a conversation, and there seemed to be a few to go orders while we were dining there. It's not a bad place to try out if you're in the area. They have a pretty extensive menu, so there are many items to choose from, and the prices are fair for the Sunset area.

We went there for lunch the first time. We ordered one of Hai Nam Chicken rice and two of Vermicelli . The rice came fairly quickly but it took a while on the vermicelli. It was a good portion but lack of flavor. Be prepared to have cash if you don't want to pay extra 4% surcharge on using refit card.

Came with two friends for lunch on a Saturday. My friend was there first and there was a tall glass pitcher of hot tea. Not sure if that was complimentary but the waitress refilled it several times so very nice. My friends got a sandwich and a pork chop combo. I got the beef cubes without rice and she gave me extra tomatoes and cucumbers. We were very happy with the food and service. It was pretty empty when we arrived but it filled up quickly. Delicious and want to come back!

First time to this pho place. Not bad. Servers are very friendly and welcome. Not crowded at all during a weekday lunch. The restaurant is clean. Food not bad. Good portion.

I went here with some friends on a Wednesday evening around 6:00 PM and it was completely empty so we got to choose where we wanted to sit and it was fairly quiet the entire time (only a couple of other parties came in while we were there). There was plenty of seating, and parking was easy to find outside. They let us know they only took cash, Venmo, or Zelle, so be prepared. The waitstaff were friendly and accommodating to requests. My friend asked if they did XL sizes of other soups (not just the PH1 Combo Beef) and they were happy to oblige! The food came out pretty fast! I ordered the PH5 (Pho Tai Nam) and it was fairly solid, nothing overly extraordinary. My friend who showed us this place reordered the NS6 Tomato Crabpaste Noodle Soup and said it was good. My other friend got their potstickers which fell flat and didn't have a lot of flavor. He also got the BD4 BBQ Chicken w/ Rice and though the portion was small, he said it was pretty good. Overall, decent Vietnamese food for a cold day.

Is the pho so good that you can overlook lackluster service? Nah, more like so-so, especially if you're in Phoville where you can find a pho house as far as you can throw a beef ball. I just had the beef rib pho at both Viet Quan on Taraval and Pho Recipe two doors down from this place. But fat chance that they offered it here even though I realize it's more about the broth. No, I settled on the $14.50 Duck Leg Noodle Soup (Bun Mang Vit), which narrowly beat the marginally less tempting Pork Chop and Meat Loaf Noodle Soups. It was decent enough though the duck skin left a pool of oily residue on the surface of the broth. It didn't give the limp rice noodles a fighting chance (photo: https://bit.ly/3OSax0f). So Pho So Good? So What. FOOD - 3 stars...middling pho even with duck meat AMBIANCE - 3.5 stars...fairly spacious for a pho house SERVICE - 2.5 stars...wasn't feeling the love here TOTAL - 3 stars...so not great, more so-so RELATED - Exploring the Sunset? So far, so pho so good is good! We have ordered from them several times over the past year, and the taste was good! Also, the pieces of pork chop were gigantic! It was the size of the entire container! It was flavorful too. The taste of the tomato beef stew was also super rich! This is open for late dinner and there is plenty of parking on the block! The design and decor also reminds me of Asian dessert houses.

Be sure to bring some cash because this place only accepts cash or Venmo! I got the NS2 (Spicy Beef Noodle Soup). IMO, the noodles were great, flavor is good. But, the pork blood tastes very bland. The Shrimp Summer Rolls were refreshing, sauce on the side is very saucy. My partner and his friend ordered their regular beef pho. We all agreed that it tastes alright. They're not so fond of the pho's noodle. Lmk what you think!

Spacious, guess it used to be a hot pot place. Menu has wide selection. If I were them I'd cut it down to less to focus on. Took them a while to take our orders even tho it doesn't seem too busy but who knows maybe they have a ton of take outs to handle. Food was ok, I'd come back and try other stuff. Their imperial rolls were on point. Their banh cuon was kinda thick skinned but is soft. Comes with nuoc mam that's already spicy so if you don't want spicy tell them in advance.

The experience is defined by the name of the restaurant but may I digress. We went there for a weeknight dinner for 2. Waitress was very attentive and food are in large portions to share among friends and others. Ordered the PH1. Combo Beef Noodle Soup (Xtra-Large). Good pho style broth with lots of noodle to go with. We also ordered a chicken cabbage salad which was very tasty and I would definitely order again. Overall, if you are looking for a decent Vietnamese food without any bells or whistles, it's a place to be. Restaurant is nothing fancy. Food: 3.5/5 Service: 4/5 Ambiance: 3.5/5

I'm always hunting for spots like this because I have a weakness for those over-the-top, Instagram-worthy desserts that look like diabetes in a dish. Like most places in this genre, A Buttercup is small, modern, and minimalist with limited seating. If you plan to go, aim for off-hours unless you enjoy waiting in line for sugar. The decor is cute and trendy, perfect for photos if that's part of your dessert ritual. As they say, "you eat with your eyes first," and when it comes to presentation, this place definitely gets an A+. The desserts look stunning and set high expectations. Unfortunately, that's where things started to crumble. It's like going to see your favorite artist live. You've watched the videos, memorized the songs, and paid for the experience. But instead of the electric performance you imagined, you get someone lip-syncing and barely connecting with the crowd. That was this place in dessert form. We ordered the Mango Bingsoo on our first visit, and when it arrived, we were surprised by how small the portion was. The guy next to us even looked over and said, "Whatever that is, I'm getting that next time." He shouldn't have. The Bingsoo looked great but was bland, and the "snow" was more chunky ice than soft shave. The Thai Tea Roti was also not what I expected. It came with Thai tea ice cream and sauce alongside a roti that was fried to a crunch. Interesting idea, just not the best execution. The sauce and ice cream needed a stronger Thai tea flavor to balance the crispy roti, and the flavors never quite came together. Overall, A Buttercup nails the aesthetics but misses the flavor. If you're here for the photos, you'll be happy. If you're here for the taste, you'll leave with a full camera roll and an unsatisfied sweet tooth.

The portion size was nice and large, and the mochi on top was so soft and chewy. The salted duck egg topping tasted like the filling in the lava egg yolk buns from dim sum, so earthy and rich and sweet with a perfect umami hit. We originally went to the location near Union Square, thinking we'd be able to grab pastries and hot chocolate, only to realize it's primarily a retail shop with chocolate bars and merchandise. We ended up making our way to the Valencia Street location, and I'm so glad we did. We learned that it used to be the original factory before they outgrew the space. Production has since moved a few blocks away, and now this location offers classes, a café, and plenty of chocolate treats. While we were there, a chocolate-making class was in session, and it was fun to watch part of it. The instructor even came over to chat with us and answer a few questions, which was such a nice personal touch. We ordered the brownie bite flight along with a hot chocolate, and both were fantastic. The brownie flight was rich, flavorful, and a fun way to sample different chocolates. The hot chocolate came with a tiny cookie that was absolutely delicious. At first, we were a little disappointed because we thought our hot chocolate was supposed to come with a marshmallow and didn't see one. When we mentioned it, the instructor smiled and showed us a toppings station we had completely missed. There were homemade marshmallows, flavored sugar cubes, and other little extras you could add yourself. He even encouraged us to take a few extra marshmallows, and they were some of the best I've ever had. One thing to know before you go is that Dandelion Chocolate focuses on high-quality chocolate that isn't overly sweet. If you're expecting the sugary milk chocolate flavor of a candy bar, this is a different experience. The chocolate has a richer, more complex flavor, and we really enjoyed trying something different. Between the friendly staff, delicious treats, and unique experience, I'd definitely recommend adding it to your itinerary--just make sure you head to the café location if you're looking for food and drinks!
