My favorite sandwich place within walking distance of my office. I must have walked by dozens of times without ever going in, even just to check out their menu. Again, my loss. Our office ordered sandwiches from them early last year and I realized I had been missing out some very good sandwiches. Since then I have had The Italian, Spicy Soppressata and The Clucker. Every single one of them were good. I know deli sandwiches and have been eating them for 568 years. The good folks at Cafe Seventy8 create art on bread. They are the Ferrari of sandwich makers. My Go-To is The Italian: all Italian meat, cheese and bread. Perfecto. The meats are savory, the cheesy melty and the bread toasty & crunch. I didn't spend much time here, but dropped by becuase it was nearby. I had heard that the "lesbian cafe" had good breakfast sandwiches, so I went with a bagel sandwich with garlic aioli, turkey, bacon, and arugula (?). As a NY native, I was not expecting much from the bagel, and while it wasn't anything to write home about, I was pleasantly surprised at how the sandwich all came together. If I had more mornings in the area, I'd definitely try another sandwich. read more

I was working in the neighborhood of this amazing cafe for the past week, and was able to enjoy their delicious espresso on several occasions. I'm a coffee snob and caffeine junkie, and I rank their shots highly among my favorite. I also had their breakfast panini w/ sausage for lunch one day, and their Blue Turkey sandwich on another. Both were delicious and filling, which for me is saying a lot, as I'm a hearty eater and burn a lot of calories throughout the course of my work day. I really like supporting local, independent, women-owned businesses and the women who run this place are friendly, helpful and kind. I also love the open-air layout of the cafe itself with its location on the corner of 29th and Tiffany, its surrounding windows allow for nice cross flow of breeze. There seems to always be several neighborhood patrons enjoying their food and drink. Just a great vibe to this place and I will definitely be visiting again next time I'm in the area. read more

The street is some what quiet even if it's sandwiched between Mission & San Jose, making it a nice space to grab a morning or midday meal. I stopped in to grab a light light bite (got a Croissant that was fresh and buttery), but I could see myself coming back if just to chill with a coffee, light meal and a book. The cafe has a lot of light & space, with some seating outside making it a comfortable space though my order was Togo. As for Parking ito not impossible, btw if you are here after 11am you might want to also hit up Mitchell's Ice Cream since it's just One Block Way for a scoop or pint :) read more

Okay so my first visit here had a lil hiccup that lead to a love I never knew I would have for a sandwich. I ordered a high maintenance turkey sandwich, well because why would I would I make anyones, let alone my own life any easier... I like what I like. Period. And what I got was a Caprese sandwich on dutch crunch. Which they tried to rectify on my next visit but WHY! It was bomb! Okay one compound word that I do not use lightly... MOUTHGASM! Coming from a lesbian, that's a BIIIiiiiiig compliment! Any way, I now make my weekly trips here to Café Seventy8 a weekly stop during my work trip in to the city. Being that I rarely eat at the time I am here (the sando was a one off) I usually order what I call a Double Dirty Mexican Mocha with Almond Milk and Whip.. again I admit to being High Maintenance! Which is their Mexican hot chocolate and I add espresso (like I need more caffeine). Can I tell you the staff and owners here are the absolute sweetest! The atmosphere here, is to sum it up HAPPY. Smiles, hellos and "let me scootch over's" from the patrons. Happy comes from up top right, then trickles down. Cause and effect. Happy fun to be around owners/managers make happy employees. Happy employees make happy food and happy smiles. The food was really good my breakfast panini was good next time I'll skip the mayo no big fan of the mayo with the panini. I think bc was busy morning and the cashier was looking a little rush making all the drinks but my chai latte was no strong flavor. But The service is efficient just 2 guys doing everything! Stopped by on a rainy morning about a week ago...the coffee was good and hot and the "facilities" were clean. The barista though ignored me in favor of a regular who had an extra long and honestly extra dull story. I had to interrupt to get my order. I will try again someday. read more

They open super early - if you find yourself awake early morning, I recommend coming by for a solid breakfast sandwich!! The staff is super friendly as well. They have plenty of seating indoors (and I think outdoors as well?) For you to sit at! read more

Many issues with this place. I had a long blonde hair in my breakfast sandwich on a previous visit. However, the ACME bread they use is addicting and I thought I'd give them another try today. Nope. I waited in a 3 person line for what seemed like 10 minutes. 3 staff members behind the counter and they can't move a line along? Finally, I order my sandwich and sit down to wait. 20 minutes later, I return to the counter to find out that my sandwich order was not made and was forgotten about. That's it folks! Never going back to this place. I didn't see anyone wash their hands after exchanging cash, moving from the coffee station to the sandwich station, blondie's wild hair was unkempt and not up to code. This place is breaking food safety violations and needs an inspection. Service= 0 ACME bread= +++ read more

This is a great spot to grab breakfast and a coffee and get some work done. Situated on a corner with wall to wall windows, the cafe is inviting and sunny with lots of tables to spread out to. The staff are friendly, and I'm pretty sure they have the best breakfast sandwich in the city (the english muffin) Will surely return :) read more

I live close to this wonderful cafe. I love it here and have brought visiting friends. Sometimes I bring my little dog and we sit outside and he enjoys the biscuits and I enjoy a wonderful breakfast or lunch. The prices are reasonable and the portions generous. Decent coffee, healthy and tasty breakfast options, and great service! I popped in on a Saturday morning after my baby's music class at STEMful nearby and has a pleasant experience. My Americano was good, and I enjoyed my breakfast panini. I was not blown away, but I was certainly satisfied. The setting is comfortable and reasonably spacious and there is a decent amount of seating available. The service was friendly and fast, and I really appreciated the fact that the staff saw I was sitting solo with my baby and brought out my coffee and food, which I normally would have had to pick up at the counter. It was a very thoughtful gesture. Overall, this is a cute, family friendly coffee shop that I plan to return to! read more

This place was a staple for me, and was right across from my apartment in SF in Bernal Heights. What I mean is, don't underestimate the sandwiches here!! I had the best panini I've ever had, the Heavenly Veggie, here so many times this past summer. The Brie cheese is unbelievably melty and delicious, and combined with the avocado and spicy mayo, it makes for the perfect lunch!! Grab it before they close at 2!! read more

Quaint little coffee shop in the Bernal Heights area. Free wifi, nice seats, and more importantly, kick-ass outside seating with blooming cherry blossom trees (where did they get those anyway?). Decent coffee shop to sit, hang out, and chill. The iced coffee was pretty good. Unfortunately, the shop closes quite early though, so unless you live around the area it'll be difficult to visit during open hours. read more

Stopped by for a large cup of house coffee ($3.25). Man behind the counter offered no greeting or hello, just poured, capped and handed it to me. Went to add sugar and cream was taken aback at the counter's unsanitary state. Sat outside to enjoy the sun. When I returned to toss my cup, nothing was changed. Three people behind the counter not waiting on anyone. I would expect someone could find the initiative to survey the state of the counter and clean up. Didn't happen. read more

Really nice folks here with wide open windows. It's quiet, it's clean and it's kind of hidden. If I didn't google this spot I would have missed it since it's not on the corner of the main street. They have lots of options when it comes to coffee and they serve bunch of sandwiches with artisan roll. I would come back just to hang out with friends or just read a good book. read more

Cafe Seventy8 is now a thriving neighborhood cafe owned by married folks, Anett & Katie. They live a block away and are always around with their kids and dog.

Walked in around 1pm on Sunday and there were 4 people in front of me. Ordered the Joker and a "Build Your Own" Ham & Turkey both on dutch crunch and in the largest size (12 inch), "Supreme." Both sandwiches were $21 which is pretty expensive even for Bay Area standards and I didn't even know how much it would cost since there are no prices listed anywhere in the store. I haven't been to all the sandwich places in the area but for the same sizes, Little Lucca in Burlingame is $5-8 cheaper for similar sandwiches and they have a lot more meat. Unfortunately there are too many better sandwich places in the Bay Area to come back here.

My Colleague stopped by today to grab some for us, and she said the place was busy as usual, folks buying snacks and people ordering sandwiches, but we were waiting to pick her up, and she got in and out within 10-15 minutes with 3 sandwiches! I got the Hot Pastrami on Dutch Crunch with everything and damn, can I say, what a sandwich! It checks off everything you'd want, filling, tasty, good amount of meat and veggies, and just a wholesome corner store deli sandwich! The bread was on point with that extra crunch and yet still being so soft, and the provolone melted right into the meat, and I could enjoy the flavors with every bite! If you're in the area for a sandwich, you can't go wrong at White Palace!

It's more of a brown butter, dark chocolate situation, rich but really well balanced, and the perfect sweet treat after the sandwich. You order at the counter in the pasta shop and seat yourself. They bring out your food but the water and clean up is all self-serve. I got the Salumi sandwich and it was delicious. It was stacked with Italian cold cuts, lettuce, red wine vinegar and pepper relish on a sesame hoagie roll. Very filling and very satisfying! I want to try their other sandwiches but hard to try something else when I know this one is so good.
