    Pumpkin Pie

I was doing a little food tour for myself of the Bernal Heights area. I stumbled upon this tiny bakery on Cortland. Upon walking in you you are greeted warmly by the staff and presented with some beautiful pastries. Everything looked wonderful, but I had to try a slice of their pumpkin pie and their PB and J cookie sandwich. Black Jet had no seating so I took my pastries and found a nearby bench. I found the PB&J cookie sandwich to be really good, but a little too sweet. Their pumpkin pie was amazing. It had a very soft texture and the flavors were perfect. I loved their merch and the servers were very helpful. I will definitely come back sometime!

Really enjoyed the pastries here. The morning bun was the best I've ever had, flaky on the top and sticky with cinnamon sugar on the bottom. The ham & cheese croissant was also excellent, flaky and lots of flavor inside. The only downside is they aren't able to heat up the pastries you order, so will be room temperature unless you take them home. It is a small spot with no seating, order at the counter and get your goodies to-go. The pastries are made in-house so you can ask the staff more about the pastries if you are so inclined. I would absolutely recommend this spot if you are in the area looking for a quick snack or treat.

This place makes me smile :) our weekend Bernal treat for Espresso tonics. I swear they used to change their flavors out more often, but lately it's been the same in rotation. Nevertheless 10/10. Almost every single bakery item we've gotten was a hit but we never not leave without a slice of pizza or their BREAKFAST SANDWICHES (i think certain ones are available on weekends only)

This is one of our Top coffee Spots ! I love their BLT sandwiches (add avocado) ! Their service is always Great and welcoming! It's a small coffee shop , no dine in . They worked fast and it's Great quality , coffee are always consistent!

I stopped by on a Sunday morning. Quite busy, but the line moves fast. Staff was super friendly! I got the blackberry scone, and it was great. Crumbly with some lovely crispy edges, just sweet enough from the fruit to carry the pastry, but not overly so. It was not as moist/buttery as I wish it was, definitely felt like I could have used a cup of coffee or milk to wash it down. Still much better than most scones , which I find almost inedible without a drink. Honestly weren't too many other pastries at the time that caught my eye, so not sure how fast I'll be back. Their pizza sounds amazing though!

Black Jet is my favourite local bakery in the Bernal/Glen Park/Noe Valley area. Most things here are good and some things are exceptional and I would go out of way to come here to get. My favourites first and foremost are the banana bread and the coffee cake. The crust that they get on the outer layer is what really makes these special. I also really like the pizza and the cardamom snail which is served in the weekends. The cookies and cupcakes here are also It's a grab and go situation as there isn't any seating in the store but you can find a bench in the neighbourhood area to sit and eat your goodies.

The girl working the counter is rude. The pastries looked good but how she acted made me leave.

My favorite local pastry shop. They make the best pies, and fruit danishes. Love their homemade "pop tarts" hand pies too.

We went late in the day which I assume affected the texture of the cake (They were a little dry). We got chocolate salted caramel which had great flavor. We especially liked the frosting which was fluffy and not too sweet, red velvet which had an artificial taste, banana which tasted too fake, and lemon which had a delicious custard or pudding filling. All in all, we enjoyed the cupcakes but next time we will try to get there earlier when they're fresher.

I was wearing a Star of David necklace. The employee on duty initially interacted normally and offered a small promotional incentive with a purchase. During our conversation about flavors, the employee asked me, "What side are you on?" When I asked for clarification, she proceeded to ask whether I was a "Zionist" and "Orthodox." I responded politely and honestly that I am both. Immediately after this response, the employee withdrew the previously offered promotion and stated that I would need to pay full price. The questioning and subsequent change in treatment appeared to be based solely on my religious identity and perceived political beliefs. The way the term "Zionist" was used was hostile, and the interaction became uncomfortable and inappropriate. I remained polite throughout. My friend suggested that we leave due to the employee's behavior, and we did so. As we exited, we stated that it did not seem like this was a business that wanted our patronage. The employee responded that she was not the owner and "just worked there." Regardless of her role, no customer should be questioned about their religion or identity or treated differently because of it. I am sharing this experience so that others are aware and in the hope that the business addresses this conduct and ensures that all customers are treated with respect.

I even added significantly to the order about 28 hours in advance. They delivered on time, everything was packaged nicely. Their prices are reasonable ($35 for a dozen mini donuts, mixed flavors), plus they had both vegan and gluten-free options (must buy a dozen of each if mini cupcakes). They were easy to contact by phone or email. When they delivered, they dropped off with a colleague and texted me the confirmation. The only downside is you cant' choose your flavors in the mixed dozen (I'd requested carrot cake in the form but we didn't get any).

We had very short notice (Less than 16 hours) to order 40+ croissants. Many bakeries declined our order due to short notice, but Yoel at Tartine came through and was able to get our order in. We placed the order around 5PM on a Tuesday for pick up at 8am on Wednesday - which is unheard of! I really appreciate the extra attention and hustle of Tartine to make the order happen, and the croissants were a huge hit (because they are so delicious). Big thanks to Tartine!

Lovingly, they arranged for us to meet up for dinner Friday night. We had discussed with my cousins before visiting them that my wife wanted to check out two renowned bakeries in the Bay Area, Tartine and Arizmendi. My cousin and her husband graciously and kindly offered to drive us around downtown San Francisco Saturday morning to visit these bakeries and we had such a great time on our personalized Bay Area foodie tour narrated by my well-informed cousin-in-law (CIL). Our first stop on this belly stuffing foodie tour was Tartine, which served one of the yummiest almond croissants I've ever eaten. That pastry alone warrants a visit to this highly rated and highly reviewed bakery. Since our CIL was in the know about The City's downtown eateries and bakeries, he recommended that we start out early to visit Tartine because he said that lines to these places could get crazy long. Thankfully for us, we got to Tartine before it opened and were second in line to enter. Tartine is a well chronicled bakery with locations around the Bay Area, Los Angeles, and Seoul, Korea. The location we visited is on Guerrero and 18th streets in the Mission District and it's across from Pay And Save Grocery. Parking might be challenging with street and metered parking. As soon as you enter the bakery, there's a hipster and local mom and pop business vibe. You're greeted by glass cases displaying beautiful cakes, pastries, breads, loaves, scones, and cookies. There are stool seats and elevated chairs where you can eat on planks of wood either facing the steady flow of customers or looking outside. I liked how there were paintings hanging from what appeared to be from local artists. The staff were friendly and took care of us pretty quickly. Tartine was our first stop in what would be a fun foodie adventure. Since I always start my day with a cup of coffee, I ordered caramel cappuccino. The foam on top had a beautifully designed heart from the barista, but I like my coffee sweet and after my first sip, I knew I had to add some type of sweetener. I used a lot of their complimentary honey to make it sweeter. My wife, who works in the baking industry, had placed Tartine on her list of places she wanted to visit to experience their scones and pastries. If my wife knew about this bakery, then I knew that I'd be indulging in baked goods of the highest caliber. Of course I let my wife pick what she thought were the best items, but I asked the customer who was the first person in line what Tartine was known for and she said their almond croissants, so when it was our turn to make our selections, I asked for Tartine's Frangipane Croissant, which has almond-cream filling and brandy. Brandy?!!?? Honestly, I don't remember tasting any brandy, but what I do remember was flakiness of the croissant, the thick cut almonds on top, the heartiness of the croissant, and the generous amount of almond-cream filling. It was a beautiful looking pastry and the taste was even better. Seriously, one of the most memorable croissants I've ever eaten. My family and I are blessed to have family willing to take time out of their morning to take us on a guided foodie tour to some iconic bakeries and local eateries. Our first bakery stop was Tartine and after eating that delectable almond croissant, the other bakeries would be hard pressed to beat them.
