Having only had Black Jet through ordering with GoodEggs and from BiRite, I must say I'm a fan of what all I've had over the years. My absolute favorites are the homemade Poptarts! Out of this world! Strawberry is always my fave of all of the flavors I've tried. And then there are.....Homemade Oreos! Oh. My. Gawd. These are always a special splurge treat for me when I just need something decadent, amazing, comforting and just really perfect. Dark chocolate "sable/shortbread" kind of cookie with a filling that's not too sweet and just the right proportion. I never understood the love of Oreos until these babies. We ordered their banana cream pie for a birthday, and it was amazing! It totally lived up to the hype. Starting from the top, it was decorated with chocolate chunks. Neither coconut nor almonds are the topping I'm looking for with a banana cream pie. Banana and chocolate are such a natural pairing...why don't more places do this??? The whipped cream was piled on THICK, but it just worked. Not overly sweet, with a great texture. And underneath, the pastry cream was rich and silky with lots of bananas. I could maybe nitpick with the crust being a bit too firm. I wish it had been a bit more tender. I really needed a knife to cut through it. It was pretty flaky however. Amazing spot in Bernal! I don't live around here but I'm already planning to come back, even if I have to scale mountains and hills (I'm exaggerating yes) to get here. We came here on a Saturday afternoon and managed to get quite a few items to try: Pesto Potato Pizza - I love that they heat up the pizza for you, it made for a perfect picnic snack in the nearby park. I loved the super tasty flavor combination as well as chewy sourdough dough base! Peanut Butter and Jelly Croissant - ok I wasn't drawn to this one at first because it kind of seemed a little weird in a croissant, but I got to try my friend's and this was a WINNER. Get it. No regrets. Chocolate Twist - I mean pretty good, but nothing super different about this vs. a regular chocolate croissant, which i always love. Baker's Special Cookie - I don't know if this is always the same, but the one I got was BOMB. Buckwheat, rye, and a third type of flour I forget, two different types of chocolate. But when it comes to customer service the core of any store front business that has no place to sit or ambiance to speak of customer service and care are tantamount. I was sharing a scone with my colleague and asked if they could cut it in have the woman refused saying it violated some policy they have. There was a gentleman who usually serves us right behind her cutting sandwiches yet they wouldn't cut the scone. As a person who had a family bakery I found this very curious but it was more the woman's tone and affect that made us feel like our business was not substantial enough to warrant kindness and service. Came on a Wednesday afternoon, maybe about 30 minutes before closing. Most of the things were sold out, but I ended up getting some oreos, sprinkedoodles, and a bakers special. The oreos were so good. The cream was smooth and salted. A bit too sweet, but if you eat it together with the cookie, it balances out since the cookie isn't that sweet. Sprinkledoodles were soft. Other than that, felt like a normal sprinkle cookie. Baker's special was a bit too sweet for me. Considering it was a buckwheat cookie, it was pretty good though. Great bakery and great customer experience! I ordered assorted danish online for pickup on Sunday morning. I went around 8:15 AM and they were still working on the danish. So the staff offered to substitute the unready ones with other things (cinnamon bun and almond croissant) and he even put a few other things in for me for free! This totally made my day!!! About the danish, they were fresh off the oven. As you can see from the photos, these were some pretty good looking danish, very appealing! I especially LOVE the peach one! The custard was very elegant, not too sweet, nice consistency when it was still warm. The custard paired with the sweet peaches (I think it was canned yellow peaches) was a great balance. The other one, I think, was plum danish. It was more sour but still very interesting! Will definitely visit again if I'm in the area. read more

One of the best bakeries in SF. The boozy bread pudding and quiche are my favorites and get them weekly.

Love their stuff: quiches and cakes and pies are a must order for gatherings. The baker's special cookie has an amazing chew texture. Everything is really good. Today, they forgot to include one of my pizza slices that was getting heated up. The cashier handed me my bag with a, "have a nice day." That implied finality in the transaction. She didn't tell me to wait for the pizza that was being heated up, so I figured it was in there - I come here almost every weekend for goodies, and it's always the cashier who hands me my stuff. Anyway, I had to come back for the slice. I couldn't call and the answering machine said they don't check their messages. They were nice about it and they weren't very busy at the time I came in. Feedback wise, I think it's good customer service to tell customers to wait for goods that are being heated up if you hand them the rest of their order. I also think that the cashier could improve her customer service/people skills. It's a popular place and usually busy, but it's better to not let your overwhelm be super apparent. read more

A tiny neighborhood bakery that satisfies every sweet craving you may have! I loved the apricot pistachio oatmeal, baker's special, sugar sprinkle and chocolate chip cookies! They had a slice of coconut cake that is my new favorite now...and since my birthday is on the 20th...(hint, hint my friends....) AND I got a banana cream pie....I walked out of Black Jet guilt free, demolishing the apricot pistachio oatmeal! It looked good but I didn't get to try it! The Oreo cookie was delicious. The flavor is much more intense than a regular Oreo, which was impressive. I wish it was a softer cookie though. we couldn't really break off a piece to share. Also I just got my braces tightened so it was a bit of a struggle LOL The pop tart was okay. I wish it had more jam filling inside. I felt like I got more crust than filling. I guess that's accurate to the OG pop tart. At least the crust is edible here! The cookies were good. We had phenomenal cookies from Black Jet today! The chocolate chip cookie was absolutely amazing, the sprinkles cookie was delicious, and the double chocolate cookie was great, too! Can't wait to get the chocolate chip cookie again. Also, Black Jet's Americanos are excellent, and their Covid set up is very safe (take out window, contactless payment via ApplePay available, and hand sanitizer available at the window). We ordered cookies, cakes and cupcakes from here for my daughter's first birthday. Everything is delicious, but decoration of the cakes left something to be desired. Both cakes we ordered were supposed to say Happy Birthday. One has a small happy birthday sign with a name in icing, haphazardly placed on the cake. The second was for my daughter's first birthday and icing was pretty poorly placed on the cake. The pastries were meh. The bakery had two cases of pastries both sweet and savory, but mostly sweet. We got the Black Berry Danish, Sour Cream Coffee Cake, and the Crack-a-roon. The Black Berry Danish was a disappointment. The Black Berries were tart and it was kind of burnt. Also, the filling did nothing to benefit the pastry. The Sour Cream Coffee Cake was not soft at all. You wound think that the Sour Cream would make it a little softer but it was just very crunchy. The Crack-a-roon was a take on a Macaroon with a crunchy exterior. This place gives Susie Cakes a run for its money! I had the opportunity to try the Devil's Food Cake for a friend's birthday and never went back for seconds so fast! The cake felt like I was eating a dense-fudgy brownie. All I needed was a cup of milk. I can't stop thinking of this cake since eating it and look forward to having an excuse to order this soon!
