Chill spot! Came later in the day so there were less options, but what we got was delicious. The Pan Suisse was very filled w cream and chocolate which was highly appreciated. The Berliner had an awesome strawberry jam, gave strawberry lemonade vibes.

    - 4.8: pretzel croissant: Awesome, because the inside has the same moist, chewy texture as a pretzel. You must heat it up in a convection taoster oven. - 2.5: Berliner. Overhyped. no different than any other donut, not as good as a bombolini. It doesn't have enough grease. Parking is difficult/expensive.

Came by on a weekend afternoon as my friends and I were making the SF double cross trail. Tried a slice of the orange cassis cake and a pretzel. I thought the pretzel was only okay. There were a lot of things that were sold out in by the time we got there, maybe early afternoon around 1-2pm. Orange cassis cake was good. Tart and sweet but not too sweet. A good balance between the flavors. The mousse was smooth, and the cake was moist. Would love to come back to try their other offerings.

Hands down one of my favorite bakeries in the city! The bakery specializes in German pastries, so they have a lot of pretzels and other cakes that I've never tried before. They also have German coffee in the summer. The store is very small and everything gets done pretty quickly if you already know what you wanna order. I think the store also has one or two tables where you can sit and have your food.

Took someone 5 minutes to even come to the window, no line just bad customer service. It's a very small place, it's literally a hole in a wall with a walk up window. They had only two things available from the menu and we got the BlackForest cake that has great reviews. It was by far the worst piece of cake we've ever had. There was no one distinguishable flavor. I don't know how that's possible. Not chocolate, not cherry, not sweet, not cream. Could care less to try anything else they have. Everything from the location to the customer service to the product sucks.

Love love love this place. Their cheesy pretzels are the absolute best! All of the pastries that I have tried have been divine. The cakes are also really yummy and are of a decent price. I've had good service anytime I've gone in person to pick up an order, but most of the time I order on DoorDash.

High quality deliciousness. Been to Germany like 5 times and you notice things that stand out. Good beer, driving fast on the freeway, and outstanding bakery goods. This place can legit add German bakery in their name cuz they are smacking. Quality control on point to how i had it in the Homeland

Go to place for their delicious cakes, so meticulously designed and constructed for a delightful celebration of any occasion! Their mango coconut torte is sublime.

Much smaller than depicted on their website.

$11 for micro star cookies that all fit in one hand. MUCH smaller than depicted on their website.

Quick Summary: - Unique pastries not found anywhere else - Coffee is slightly sour but it pairs well with the pastry An acquaintance recommended me to visit this bakery. It is a cozy little bakery. At one corner of the bakery, there are two tables and chairs to sit down and eat -- and that's what we did. We ordered some Berliners and a pastry that looks like a twisted rope, and in addition we decided to eat a slice of the yogurt cake. We were afraid we won't be able to take the cake safely home. Yes, we also ordered a cup of drip coffee. Usually, sour coffee is not my type. However, with the yogurt cake, it balances out. The cake was new and different because it had a nice sour punch to it. The first bite was almost puckering level sour. The layers contain fruits and one tastes like passionfruit? Maybe that was the most sour flavor in the cake. The next is the cream, the texture and flavor didn't taste like whipped cream, so happily, this made the overall cake super light and refreshing. This day, the weather was warm and overcast, so this cake brightened and refreshed us up. On the following morning, I tried the Berliner, and I liked this one as well. Both pastries are generally light; not heavy in the gut. The custard cream was my favorite. It's like a doughnut, but lighter. A very good bakery, and if I walk around the area I'll visit and buy some of their pastries again.

Came by the other morning for pastries and it was a decent experience. Arrived right at 8 am and it was confusing as the door stated that the bakery opens at 8:30 am while Google and Yelp both confirm that they open at 8 am. Arrived at 7:55 am and was excited since the door was open and the curtains were also open. The staff stated that they needed a few more moments and ended up opening by 8:05 am... Street parking is plentiful first thing in the morning. The bakery has a few tables in the back. It appears that this location is merely a retail location with the baked goods being delivered from their other location. Started off with the berlinger with fresh cream and strawberries and it was excellent. The pastry was very light and the cream was fresh. Moved on to the ham and cheese croissant and it was also excellent. Super fresh and flaky croissant with ham and cheese on the inside. The apple streudal was flavorful and tasted better after heating it up in the toaster oven for a bit. The beesting cake was a touch lackluster with the yeast-based dough being on the dry side. The vanilla cream was tasty though. The Blackforest Cake was also a touch lackluster with the highlight being the fresh cream and flavorful cherries. The cake was also on the drier side...bummer. ~$35 for a variety of pastries and they take credit cards.

How fast do the berliners sell out? Is there a particular day when there is less of a crowd?

Today (Sunday) at noon there was a PILE of Berliners still in the display case. I've been at Hahdough closer to closing and have seen only a few Berliners left. I'd imagine, however, it might depend on the day/time one visits the Konditorei how many…

I arrived at the bakery before it opened on a weekend morning, and there were already a couple of brave souls in line. I waited only about 25 minutes for the bakery to open, and once doors officially opened to customers, I was in and out in no time with my fresh pastries in hand. I enjoyed my almond croissant as soon as I got back home, and now I fully understand why Arsicault is at the top of everyone's SF bakery list. The almond croissant was still warm, the inside struck the perfect balance between fluffy and gooey (from the almond paste), and the exterior was nicely crisped. The almond filling is super rich and decadent yet not overly sweet. I also noticed - and appreciate - how Arsicault's almond croissant doesn't include toasted almonds on top, since these can often get over-baked and taste bitter. I definitely agree this is one of the best pastries in SF now.

I definitely feel like the team implementing the 7:45AM start time to line up has helped a lot. Not only is it better for the neighbors, but it also makes the whole experience feel a lot less chaotic compared to showing up super early and scrambling to get in line. Everything feels much calmer and organized now. As for the pastries: To be honest, it really depends on what you like. I'm one that gravitates towards pretty much anything with meat and chocolate. Because of that, most of their savory/meaty and creamy pastries are always a must for me. They're super flaky, flavorful and decadent. You can really tell how much time and effort they put into making everything as high quality as possible, especially since you can see them making everything from the window while waiting in line. All in all, I think there's been a lot of improvement over the past year with some trial and error. Their pastries have always been delicious and I personally think it's worth the wait. I recommend getting to the area closer to 7:45AM so you have a better chance of being towards the front of the line. If not, it's still better to come before opening, I just wouldn't recommend getting there right before they open. By then it's not guaranteed that you'll get everything you want since they do run out depending on how many people are there.

My husband got in line while I waited outside. It's on the first floor of the Japan Center Malls and easy to find in the corner. We had the drinks right away and I enjoyed their honeycomb toffee latte ($8.25) while my husband ordered a flavored lemonade. The Honeycomb latte wasn't overly sweet and the honeycomb on top was a nice treat. The honeycomb itself was sweet and crunchy and you can either pick it out and eat it or stir it into your drink and let it melt. The lemonade my husband ordered was on the sweeter side, but was super refreshing for summer. If you like sweet you'll like this- if you prefer less sweet or tart it may not be for you.
