I ordered two dozen through DoorDash today. It got delivered like this (see photo); some were sideways and some icing was ruined. I know that it was partly because of the driver/dasher**; however,** the packaging is also to blame. The cupcakes can move under the opening. There was nothing holding the cupcakes in place underneath the holes."
I tried the chocolate cupcake with chocolate buttercream icing and it was a dream. The cake is incredibly moist, and the buttercream is surprisingly light and airy, like whipped cream. The chocolate flavor in the buttercream is deep and somehow nostalgic. In fact, I'd say it's like chocolate milk got made into whipped cream. The combo with the cupcake base is wonderful. A cupcake fits in the palm of your hand and I felt like it was the perfect sized treat. It was a quick pickup in the Ferry Building and I only recently learned that they have a few other locations across the city. The location in the Ferry Building is not too big but you can find everything from full cakes to cookies to candies to chocolates. Everything is packaged beautifully and makes for a great gift!

Walking around the Ferry Building in SF you see lots of little crumbs around on the floor from tourist who like feeding the birds. I know that it's not a good thing to feed the seagulls in SF because they keep coming back with more attitude. For instance at Oracle Park one year the SF Giants were going to use a hawk to chase away the flock of seagulls feeding themselves at the ball park. I walked into a store inside the Ferry Building called Miette Patisserie which means " Little Crumb" in French. This place had all kinds of sweet tooth and not too sweet treats like brown butter shortbread, cakes, candies, macarons, and other pastries. I had the Scharffen Berger Cake which was not too sweet but very rich. It was like having a blended brownie and cupcake at the same time. The exterior reminds me of the dessert called the " Milky Way Bombe" at Noe the Valley Bakery but with a flower decoration on top. Come here to pick up a treat during the Bastille Day celebration at the Embarcadero and walk around the Ferry Building and go to Miette( means " Little Crumb" in French) Patisserie just don't leave little crumbs around for the seagulls. Inside the Ferry building in San Francisco there are lots of places with drinks like wine and food that are yum and the aromatics make it hard not to succumb Celebrate Bastille Day at inside the Ferry Building called Miette in French is means " Little Crumb" but don't feed the seagulls is this SF native rule of thumb

Located in the Ferry building, I noticed cupcakes, while cakes, and macarons in the case. It was a very busy Saturday, but I wanted to get a cupcake to try since I was told this is one of the best. The staff was friendly and patient enough to allow me time to look at what was available, but didn't offer suggestions, small talk ,or what the best sellers were. I ordered a cupcake and took it to go. If you like cupcakes that aren't overly sweet, this is for you. I prefer a slightly sweet icing. It is buttercream per the sign, but didn't taste like the typical buttercream that most cupcakes have. It was an ok cupcake for me, perhaps not the best, but give this place a try if you're in the Ferry building.
I call this one "Miette Mini" to myself. It's not quite as expansive as my beloved Hayes Valley location but when I'm in town and can't make it out there this is a great substitute cos I can still get a lot of the house-made things I love like their marshmallows, shortbreads, caramels, and chocolate wafer cookies. Thanks to their amazing cookbook I can make these at home, too, but nothing beats their incredible craftsmanship (and not having to make it myself, of course). The collection of imported and bulk sweets are not as expansive at this mini spot but you'll still find more than enough to pick up for gifts or satisfy your own sweet tooth.
It's a "sweet" small store. It can get busy though. I love the cinnamon bears! The "serving sizes" are small and therefore are expensive. I also recommend the cookies. I don't be afraid to try everything!
David and I randomly stopped here to look at the sweets. The friendly lady at the counter informed us that it was macaron cookie "happy hour" and all of the cookies were half priced. David and I ended up purchasing a variety of the macarons and they were all delicious!
Even grandma was impressed! And in her 99 years she has tried a lot of cakes! This was like two cakes in one. We brought it to room temperature the first day and had leftovers from the fridge the next day. It was much better at room temp. If you can stand the wait! read more
I am updating this review because: * I took time to email Miette a while ago to ask if they were aware of the old cupcakes being sold. I never received a response - it left the impression this cost cutting decision was made by the team in charge. Having said that, it's not surprising that the Hayes Valley store closed. * I recently had an amazing cupcake from another seller and have included comparison photos, mostly as photographic evidence that cupcakes are, in fact, capable of maintaining moisture. read more

Been a regular at the Ferry Building ever since we found Lunette and for some reason many times we have been there, we never really got the chance to try Miette. Miette's desserts and other many treats looked so cute and scrumptious from their display cases! And after many attempts, finally got to try it out during a very busy weekend. Got 3 flavors of cupcakes, a brownie & meringue kisses. The taste of their items does not match the aesthetics & brand. Cupcakes were dry and don't taste right at all. Brownie was very crumbly & very dry. Meringue kisses were kind of hard. Another sad part is the service, I couldn't say the "guy" behind the counter was racist since he was working with an Asian lady. Anyway, he was NOT pleasant AT ALL! The lady was ok but both were busy catching up with whatever it is they're going through. How I wish I could give you guys a better review since the goodies looked very cute. The desserts store is located inside ferry building marketplace, and they sell somehow overpriced sweets. I've tried their Chocolate Cupcake with Italian Meringue, and Chocolate Cupcake with Chocolate Buttercream, and the taste was fine. read more

Over due review. We stopped by this place inside the Ferry Building. They have many selections of desserts. What caught my eye were the lavender shortbread cookies and the chocolate bar. The chocolate bars that they have are quite pricy. I think the one I purchased was $10. It was the rose salt & lemon. It only tasted alright. My boyfriend got the assorted Turkish delight. These were good. Next time I will have try out the macaroons. read more

I had a chance to try them for the first time, I got the passionfruit turkish delight. I thought it was pretty good, it is sweet and does have a fruity flavor which somewhat tastes like passionfruit. The pieces are somewhat small and are chewy but not to the point of unpleasantly sticking to your mouth or throat and covered by powdered sugar. I only wish there were more of them for the price, as I can eat through a small bag like this very quickly. read more
When I go to the ferry building, I can't help but stop at Miette Patisserie and confiserie. Looks like a shop in Paris. They have an assortment of macarons,licorice, candy, and artisanal chocolate. They also make made to order cakes. I get a macaron or two, usually its the vanilla or pistachio. They also have seasonal flavors. Oh and their cupcakes are good too. I love their yellow and vanilla cupcake. Worth a stop always read more
Lots of colorful sweets to lure you in while strolling down the Ferry Building. I stopped by due to my craving for macarons. Don't let the appearance fool you! These are yummy. The shell looks crispy with a gritty texture, so it's not a traditional smooth macaron. I recommend the Matcha and the Rose Geranium! read more

I was an event not far from the Port Building when I was looking for something tasty to eat before my ferry arrived there were quite a few options available but the lines were way to long . So I as I was passing though the corridor I saw the Miette Patisserie & Confiserie (Small Pastry & Sweets) shop. First off the display is very alluring and displays the items very well, the service I received was prompt and courteous. MP&C had many quality choices available made with high quality organic ingredients, so settling on the Double Chocolate and Carrot Cake was a great solution for my evening and afternoon dessert(s). The MP&C Double Chocolate Travel Cake is a rich a decadent delight and paired well with scoop of Van Leeuwen Vanilla Bean ice cream. MP&C definitely got my attention so much that I decided why not try the mail order service to indulge again. Today my items were delivered my only con was the cakes were melting due to the UPS delivery arriving at the end of the day after 7pm. I immediately placed them in the refrigerator to cool, which was a slight let down. MP&C did do an outstanding packaging presentation and the travel Cake was just as enjoyable as before. If the travel cakes would arrived in melted this would have easily been a 5 of 5 experience. read more
I've ordered a couple cakes online from Miette and picked them up from this location, and both cakes tasted pretty good! The first cake I tried from Miette was one of their tom boy cakes that was for a coworker's birthday. It wasn't too sweet and it was just really good! That inspired me to order a cake for an aunt's birthday, and I chose the princess cake. Ordering was simple, and pick up was simple too. I ordered the 8 inch princess cake, and WOW, it was so heavy!!! The cake itself was so good that I kept going back for more. The cream, hot milk cake, jam, etc all went well together. My fave parts were the cream and the cake. The princess cake was beautiful too! Second cake I ordered was their Scharffenberger cake. A chocolate lover's delight! Not too sweet except for the ganache portion. The princess cake looked much better, but the chocolate one was good (just not decorated with the flower as advertised, which the princess cake had). Definitely recommend if you really enjoy chocolate. I got their macarons before too, and they were great. It was hard to tell which flavor was what though because they were all very similar in color. No artificial coloring! Miette has all these cute lil bags of candy too. I got some once, but they were overpriced. Probably paying for the presentation and variety choices, but nothing too special there imo. I keep missing out on their cupcakes, but would love to try some of those in the near future. read more
One of my favorite patisserie ever! First off, their logo and vibe immediately attracts you to their store. I would frequent this location in the Ferry Building when I used to work in SF and get special treats for me and my family. I love their shortbreads and their Chocolate Strawberry Cupcake. It has been a while before my recent visit and I was looking for my favorite lavender and chocolate shortbreads where they normally at but couldn't find them in the beginning although they were right in front of me. I was looking for the usual clear packaging and honestly panicking on the inside until I saw they repackaged their shortbreads and have upped their flavors! Whew! Besides getting my usuals, I also got their limited edition box which has samples of other flavors including chocolate chip, walnut, peanut butter, lemon. All are delish as always but chocolate chip is now part of my fave list. I also got a chocolate cupcake - moist cake with an ever so light yet not too sweet icing. The store associate was so nice (apologies for not catching her/their name!) I cannot wait to visit their new location in San Ramon! read more

I went for a run and decided to stop by here to fulfill my sweet tooth! After seeing reviews and photos, I was excited to try the macaroons. I only got 4, which meant they were in a bag and not a box, not a huge deal. But once I took a look I was pretty disappointed. The appearance of the macaroons looked like they declined significantly from other photos on Yelp from years back. Similar to another Yelper's recent comment, it was nearly impossible to distinguish which flavor was which. The shell was all the same, the color of the filling was different for some (like the hazelnut one shown in the photo) but not for most. The flavor wasn't bad, but paying $2 for a tiny cookie I expect it to look more appetizing than this read more
I've tried Miette at the Oakland location almost 10 years ago and thought I'd finally try the ferry building location since I work nearby. I love macaroons but I thought the ones here were simply okay. Some of the were hard to chew/had hard pieces. Or I would take a one bite and the whole thing would fall apart. They also all tasted pretty similar and I couldn't really distinguish the different flavors. I believe there were 6 flavors but I only remember 2 of them being Pistachio and Hazelnut and I couldn't tell what the others were. Maybe I had a bad batch but I'm willing to come back and try it again someday! I paid $16 for the eight macaroon box. The staff there were kind. read more

The cupcakes are so aesthetically pleasing and the icing is very delicious! I usually don't enjoy icing, but theirs is a perfect mix of not too sweet. Wish the cake was a little more flavorful. The service was good, very nice and quick! read more

Ordered the lemon debutante cake for a birthday celebration. Even after a couple of hours outside the fridge, the frosting was still pretty solid. The lemon curb was tasty and for some it was the best part of the cake. Some of the cake edges were on the verge of being burnt. Otherwise the cake itself was moist but very dense. read more
