Bribing customers to write five-star reviews
    David S.

I recently discovered Paris Baguette. Since I have a sweet tooth, I was excited to try some of the pastries and other sweets they make. On my first visit, I ordered the Raspberry Almond Croissant through the Paris Baguette app. It turned out there was not one available. This was not a great first impression, but I will give the staff credit for allowing me to substitute with another item -- the Dubai Chocolate Tart -- that may have been slightly more expensive. I returned the following week after being sent a birthday reward for a cake slice. I tried selecting the Pumpkin Pie Custard Tart. That was not eligible, so I changed it to the Ganache Cream Cake Slice. Neither of the desserts I tried was bad, but I wasn't wowed by either one. For the prices they are charging, I would expect better. What rubbed me the wrong way during these two visits was a small sign on the counter offering a free sugar mochi donut in exchange for a five-star review. I guess I shouldn't be shocked that businesses do this, but it is super uncool and unethical to solicit positive reviews with bribes.

Date: Monday, May 19th, 2025 What: Dessert Delivery Time Ordered: around 4:45pm Time Delivered: around 6:15pm Ordered: via DoorDash *Mini Strawberry Lemon Cream Croissant ($6.49) *King Cream Donut ($7.89) *Croissant Donut ($8.89) *Strawberry Soft Cream Cake Slice ($11.69) *Red Velvet Cake Slice ($11.49) My sweet tooth was in overdrive, so I decided to order a few items from Paris Baguette. I did some price comparisons, and DD does charge more for their items. Based on the PB site, the two cake slices are actually $9.19 each and the cream donut is $6.19. Couldn't find the other two items, but on these three alone, you are already paying an extra $6.50. I guess that's the price for laziness? The mini croissant was so tiny, but cute. Not as tart as I thought it would be, but at least it wasn't overly sweet. The cream donut was as expected. I've had this a few times. The croissant donut was okay. It was a lil stale in texture, but flavors were fine. I like their soft cream cake, so this was good. Light but creamy. I like this bakery since their items are not too sweet. But I don't remember things being this pricey. Over $10 for a piece of cake? Maybe if I'm in the area, I'll drop by, but I don't think I'll DD from here again. The premium is a lil too high. 3.5 stars. Beautiful desserts, but I've only tried their Iced Cookie Butter Macchiato, which was good and not too sweet. I like that they list the calories for every item on display. Clean interior. Small, very casual dine-in area. Friendly staff. One unisex bathroom, but it was temporarily closed when I visited today.

Have mixed feelings for this place. Based on the reviews some cakes were not so fresh so we were a little nervous getting this cake. Luckily, this was so fresh and so soft! It wasn't overly sweet and it wasn't overly heavy. Do keep in mind that this was 'soft cream' cake so there was ALOT of cream, and not much of the 'cake' forgot to take a picture. So you're into the cream part then yes this would be a good choice. But if you are looking for more 'cake' then I would suggest picking something else.

Berry tart (lower left) and fruit tarts -- pastry bit is a bit doughy, but still give it a try! One is probably enough

Love fruit tarts and pastries and custard cream. They're obviously very pretty and worthy of giving as a little treat to a friend or birthday. The custard is just right, not eggy, very creamy, with a tint of sweetness. The fruits are fresh. However, the pastry part was disappointing. It was a tad dry and dull, and didn't have that flaky, buttery texture. It felt more like a plain dough that was just crafted to look flakey and rich, I feel like they could do better.

The food is always amazing until there's no filling in your donuts. The always get the coffee croissant donuts because they NEVER disappoint but now sadly I have been disappointed in the donuts. The service was ok. The lady did not greet me but asked me what I wanted and quickly got it and went to the next customer. The was no ambiance.

As others have mentioned, prices are expensive for their pastries. I ordered online for a company meeting. Order was waiting for me when I got there, If you order a large order, make sure to bring a bag. Pastries were excellent and flaky. You can't eat just one. Will definitely be back to try one of the cakes and other items.

I am not exaggerating -- these were the best pastries I've ever had. I never even thought I was a pastry girlie... but Paris Baguette turned me OWT, okayyy!? ‍ Every bite was soft, flavorful, and just chef's kiss. If you've never been, do yourself a favor and GO. You might just discover a new personality trait. I did!

Absolute amazing!!!! The bakery is Korean styled (self served) (The case doors face you and you get a tray and tongs and put the items from the case on your tray). The pastries were wonderful! We got a whole variety of them! The chocolate croissant was fully and flaky! I was hopping for a little more chocolate inside the croissant but over all great! The apple pastry was filled with apple filled and tasted amazing! I really wanted a second one! The sugar mochi donut was alright. We wished it was a little better. The jalapeño cream cheese croissant was the star of the show. So delightful and flavorful! An absolute must try!

If you're missing Parisian pastries, this is the fix you need! I love a fresh, warm, and simple croissant and this bakery not only gives you that but dresses them up with uniqueness! From their mini garlic ones to their strawberry filled croissants! Plenty of other delicious pastries to satisfy your cravings as well. Helpful that it's located smack dab on Market so you can pop in to and from the office or before/after hopping on public transportation.

To my surprise, Paris Baguette opened up on market street! I've always loved this bakery, especially their blueberry chiffon cake. I was excited that there would be a place I could get pastries whenever I'm in the office. The entrance to this store is by See's Candy on Sansome street. They have a sign out and their logo sticks out with the navy paint they have. When you walk through the doors, you're immediately greeted by the trays, tongs, parchment paper and two cases of pastries you can grab. There are a few individually wrapped breads and cakes too. They do have larger cases dedicated to small slices of cake or whole cakes for sale. You have to tell an employee to get something for you. They also do have some breakfast items and sandwiches. They don't have everything you expect from a larger store, but they have fan favorites for sure. They also do serve a variety of drinks, such as coffee, tea, frappes, etc. I have to say that this location is SUPER small. It gets crowded very quickly and they only have a few tables in the back for you to enjoy your food. I have to say I feel like the prices here are way higher than other locations. I couldn't believe I spent nearly $42 on the following: -1 chicken pesto sandwich ($13.99) -1 slice of blueberry chiffon cake ($9.29) -1 fruit tart ($6.49) -1 butter cream bread ($4.49) -1 pepperoni pizza flat bread ($7.79) -1 bag ($0.25) + tip as well. I was baffled considering that some locations have slightly lower prices than this. I get possibly being a SF location, they would have to break even on the cost of goods they produce + business expenses. Even then, it felt too expensive for what I was getting. I have to say from what I tried, the chicken pesto sandwich didn't hit the same. There was a differing taste than what I remember and it wasn't toasted as well. I didn't finish this sandwich since I was a bit disappointed. The butter cream bread is something you can skip. It hardly had any cream and the bread felt a bit dry. Everything else I'll have to try tomorrow, but I feel robbed a bit considering I like Paris Baguette. I'll probably come back for a pastry or coffee, but I'll definitely go to other locations to get more bang for my buck. ETA: I got to try the pizza pastry and the fruit pastry today. The pizza pastry (pepperoni one) is better when it's toasted and it's very good. If you have an air fryer, I'd put it in at 400 for a few minutes. Is it worth $8? Probably not. The fruit pastry itself was good as well. The fruit was sweet and the cream itself paired well all together. I do recommend eating this the day of. The croissant gets soft and it would be hard toasting this. I probably wouldn't pay another ~$7 for this since it's a bit steeper for a pastry.

Once the bakery opened at 9 AM the line moved fairly fast, but by opening time the line was down two blocks and wrapped around out of sight. We'd heard about B&C lines but even this on a weekday morning was surprising. Overall the pastries were very good, I will say that the savory pastries rank higher here than anywhere else I've been, but the sweet pastries don't. We got the Strawberry Rhubarb Cruffin, Lemon Bluberry Bun, Potato Artichoke Croquiche, Bacon Egg & Cheese, and Sam's Blood Orange Olive Oil Cake. The Croquiche was my favorite of all of them, and it was great warm, with a nice creamy filling. From the sweet pastries, my favorite was the Strawberry Rhubarb Cruffin - the rhubarb taste wasn't very strong but it was overall flaky, not too dry (even when eating it later in the day), and the cinnamon coating also didn't clash with the strawberry, vanilla, and orange. Least favorite was the olive oil cake; it was slightly bitter and the olive oil taste was dominating. These pastries are very large. Split between 2 people 3 of them were enough for us to be so full we saved the rest for later. I also got the Brown Butter Butterscotch Latte (iced), I'm not usually a fan of coffee but it was really good (it's very sweet so as a non-coffee drinker that worked out for me - the syrups overpower the coffee taste). The inside is cute with a pastel pink theme, we were able to snag the two seats by the window. I also liked the merch for sale and got a small print of the storefront. Definitely worth going too once, but due to the line I probably won't return until a monthly menu comes out that has a lot of things I desperately want to try. It's a top 3 bakery in SF for sure.

Dozens of paper thin layers stacked with the kind of patience most people reserve for things that actually matter. The matcha flavor is real, not the green tea powder imposter you get everywhere else. The drinks are thoughtful too. Not sweet for the sake of being sweet. Juniper should definitely be in your top picks for San Francisco bakeries. There's so much hype these days on social media about pastries in general, but Juniper delivers. I always go with a Pain Au Chocolat on my first visit as my litmus test and boy did Juniper pass. I also enjoyed the Kouign Amann that my partner got. I NEED to go back to try more, and can't wait. I have a feelin' I'll over-order next time and take some to go. My only regret was not ordering more, but we were walking around and didn't wanna lug a box of pastries :) Would absolutely recommend - the line moves fast and the service is friendly. Not a TON of seating, but people tend to eat and move on, so you should be able to find a table for two fairly easily. Bigger parties might want to grab and go.

We ate the mango sago pudding right away and it was really nice with fresh mango, creamy sago and not too sweet! Out of the pastries, the stand out was definitely the chili crisp kouign aman which had a great sweet and spicy chili sauce coating which reminded me of hot honey, sriracha and sweet & sour sauce mixed together. The kouign aman of course is always delicious and the coating just made it even more decadent. Definitely will have to come back next year to try their other specials. The lunar new year specials were only around for 2 weeks so have to catch them when they come back!
