Loved Day Moon! Such an awesome bakery. There was a line out front, but it moved pretty quickly. We grabbed the baguette sandwiches to go and ate them in the park, which was perfect. I think the sandwiches rotate seasonally, and we had the broccolini one which was so flavorful. Only small thing is it can be a little hard to bite without pulling out a huge chunk of broccoli, but honestly still so good. The baguette itself is incredible. I've also walked by at night and it turns into such a fun wine bar vibe.

My fascination with Day Moon's Chocolate Chip Cookie ($5) catches me by surprise; it's so unlike anything I usually go for. Chewy with some firmness to it, I detect an oat-like consistency in the batter. I'm not typically one for the gritty mouthfeel of oatmeal cookies, but the similarity in texture is welcome to me here. Giant splotches of dark chocolate make eating this extremely messy. These aren't meager chips, they take up some serious real estate on the cookie's surface. I'm adamant about only eating milk chocolate, or at least I used to be until I walked into this bakery. A strange chocolate chip cookie, but even more strange is my fondness for it.

Wonderful bread and baked goods! I don't always venture out to the Sunset, but when I do, it's probably for food. I met a friend here and it was very conveniently-located right off of Muni Metro. She recommended it because it's in her hood and she comes here often. I walk up and who do I see eating outside here? My old VP and his wife! They venture out here from a few neighborhoods over roughly once a week because they enjoy it so much. That is some mighty praise. I enjoyed my Crumble Bar--it was not overly-sweet but had fresh fruit flavors and just the right amount of sugar. I enjoyed the bar. I also took a nice loaf home and it held up for 1 week (but I'd recommend finishing it sooner.) My friend enjoyed her sandwich--we took our goodies and ate in Golden Gate Park! Wonderful service. Nice interior and some outdoor seating. Will be back to try more of their baked goods--they were sold out when I was there!

Incredible bakery and coffee spot! The baguette was incredible. Lines can get pretty long on the weekends. Cookie was also crispy and delicious chocolate shards were embedded. The scone was also perfect (the japaleno was the best!) The mocha was delicious (get this!) and had the best chocolate flavor. Drip Coffee was standard

Great neighborhood coffee spot with fantastic people working there. They also have the best baguette, but they don't sell them until 11. The coffee and pastry's are the perfect treat during your weekend mornings. They also do pizza nights on the first Monday of the month. I have yet to check it out but I'm excited to in the future!

Can never get enough of their sesame bun with butter and toma. Have to pick up at least one whenever I visit. Scones are the other go-tos - crunchy exterior, soft interior. I've picked up their soups which are good . . . sad when I'm too late and they're sold out. This time, I also picked up a eikhorn shortbread cookie - so good.

Such an incredible spot. First of all, the staff was EXCEPTIONALLY fun and kind. Second of all, the cookies were amazing. I don't know which I liked better, the chocolate chip or peanut butter cookie. The cappuccino was also great. Can't wait to come back!

We were grabbing lunch at Hook Fish down the street, so stopped by at Day Moon to grab a snack and some bread. Left with a chocolate chip cookie and a baguette, after a solid 20 minute wait. The baguette was honestly too chewy. I don't think I've ever said this before, but it's really a jaw workout to get through a bite, even when I got it fresh from the bakery. Cookie was solid, but actually too much chocolate. Made it really messy to eat, and not enough of the actual cookie. Overall, solid. Grab a snack if in the area!

Ok I tried that sesame bread with cheese and butter, it was ok, not wow for me. Then I had the apple spice scone, WOW! that was the star for me! It's crispy on the outside, not too dense, not too sweet, it was fresh apples, best scone in SF! I had the shortbread cookie and that was good too, but I think I would try the chocolate chip next time.

Beautiful bakery with a relaxing outdoor siting. They have house made drinks like homemade chocolate sauce for their mocha, strawberry steamer, salted honey syrup, and much more! I came here for their scones and it did not disappoint! The blackberry apricot scone was phenomenal, all my dreams came true! It has fresh fruits folded in the scone batter with a beautifully crumbly crunchy topping, baked to perfection. They have everything for everyone including savory sandwiches, homemade bread, scones, cookies, brownies, and much more! I look forward to coming back! Everyone should try this place! They also do popups at the farmers market stands in the bay area.

Sesame bun, peanut butter cookie, sourdough baguette, eikorn shortbread cookie and berry scone.

Excellent baked goods, with quick efficient service. Sesame (sourdough) bun was well seeded and chewy, gotta love that. Don't confuse it with a sweet morning pastry. Recommend their scones, they have both savory and sweet. We went with the berry scone (amazing butter and berries flavors). It was incredibly hard to resist the pepper gruyere scone. For heartier food, go with the soups and sandwiches. It's location is pretty chill/relaxed/casual and dog friendly. I shall return!

The cutest little bakery in Outer Sunset! The interior is so cute and warm & you just smell all the yummy lil pastries they're cooking up. I'm personally a huge fan of their baguettes! A friend once brought some to a park hang & I knew I had to make a stop and buy some baguettes for myself. They're wonderfully chewy with a nice crust. My sister and I almost ate an entire baguette on the drive home, just ripping lil bites. The baguettes make a fantastic DIY sandwich vessel, but they also have their own baguette sandwiches which are good! We had a seasonal one with pesto, cheese, tomato, and sunflower seeds and it was delicious - my ideal sandwich! We immediately tried to re-create it ourselves at home. They are closed during random days, which has tripped me up a couple times, but I know I'll be back!

I could see the balloon that held all of the anticipated excitement my husband had of showing me a "new" spot (it was new to me) all but heartbreakingly deflate. Sigh. Not wanting that crestfallen look to prevail, I told him we'd try again. A hole in the wall that is takeout only, the customarily drab sunset weather doesn't do the vibe any favors out here. When it's overcast & cold outside, does anyone want cold pineapple buns to go with it? That was my first experience, so I was curious about how the do over was going to go. Night & day... Yelpess with the mostess Cherylynn was spot on when she said the buns need to be warm & eaten asap. This is key to experiencing a stellar treat over a humdrum one. On our 2nd visit they were hot. They were pillowy. They were divine. Gloomy sunset weather? It could be RAINING outside & I wouldn't care right now. It was a total 180. Butter. Do it! I suggest you go for the gold, kerrygold Irish butter. Matcha. I love matcha so it's an automatic order but it's a definite winner. Not too sweet, because matcha isn't naturally sweet. Custard. Hubby's favorite. He's a vanilla head, so... Salted egg yolk. Hubby's other favorite. I like, he loves. Ube. WOW. Better than the matcha which is weird coming from me. The Ube filling BAKES INTO the interior & it is amazing! I wished I'd gotten 6 of these. The puffs. How friggin adorable. Just throw in 6 puffs. Or 18. Then dip them in the side of custard that comes with. If you get extra to take home (& you should), all you have to do is be sure to reheat them as per the directions on the box. Just place them on a baking sheet lined with foil, or an oven rack (I've done both, both work), at 325 for around 10 minutes. I think 12-15 minutes is actually ideal. I couldn't believe how soft they were after this. Like new! The next day, after being refrigerated all night! I know weird, but fact! A couple of days later I requested that we go again next Saturday. Like when you were a kid & you couldn't wait for Friday because Friday's were pizza night. That crestfallen look my husband had was replaced with delighted satisfaction. Glee even. We went again the following Saturday. 5 stars

Lovingly, they arranged for us to meet up for dinner Friday night. We had discussed with my cousins before visiting them that my wife wanted to check out two renowned bakeries in the Bay Area, Tartine and Arizmendi. My cousin and her husband graciously and kindly offered to drive us around downtown San Francisco Saturday morning to visit these bakeries and we had such a great time on our personalized Bay Area foodie tour narrated by my well-informed cousin-in-law (CIL). Our first stop on this belly stuffing foodie tour was Tartine, which served one of the yummiest almond croissants I've ever eaten. That pastry alone warrants a visit to this highly rated and highly reviewed bakery. Since our CIL was in the know about The City's downtown eateries and bakeries, he recommended that we start out early to visit Tartine because he said that lines to these places could get crazy long. Thankfully for us, we got to Tartine before it opened and were second in line to enter. Tartine is a well chronicled bakery with locations around the Bay Area, Los Angeles, and Seoul, Korea. The location we visited is on Guerrero and 18th streets in the Mission District and it's across from Pay And Save Grocery. Parking might be challenging with street and metered parking. As soon as you enter the bakery, there's a hipster and local mom and pop business vibe. You're greeted by glass cases displaying beautiful cakes, pastries, breads, loaves, scones, and cookies. There are stool seats and elevated chairs where you can eat on planks of wood either facing the steady flow of customers or looking outside. I liked how there were paintings hanging from what appeared to be from local artists. The staff were friendly and took care of us pretty quickly. Tartine was our first stop in what would be a fun foodie adventure. Since I always start my day with a cup of coffee, I ordered caramel cappuccino. The foam on top had a beautifully designed heart from the barista, but I like my coffee sweet and after my first sip, I knew I had to add some type of sweetener. I used a lot of their complimentary honey to make it sweeter. My wife, who works in the baking industry, had placed Tartine on her list of places she wanted to visit to experience their scones and pastries. If my wife knew about this bakery, then I knew that I'd be indulging in baked goods of the highest caliber. Of course I let my wife pick what she thought were the best items, but I asked the customer who was the first person in line what Tartine was known for and she said their almond croissants, so when it was our turn to make our selections, I asked for Tartine's Frangipane Croissant, which has almond-cream filling and brandy. Brandy?!!?? Honestly, I don't remember tasting any brandy, but what I do remember was flakiness of the croissant, the thick cut almonds on top, the heartiness of the croissant, and the generous amount of almond-cream filling. It was a beautiful looking pastry and the taste was even better. Seriously, one of the most memorable croissants I've ever eaten. My family and I are blessed to have family willing to take time out of their morning to take us on a guided foodie tour to some iconic bakeries and local eateries. Our first bakery stop was Tartine and after eating that delectable almond croissant, the other bakeries would be hard pressed to beat them.

Our cousins were familiar with both bakeries and graciously volunteered to be our foodie guides as we drove to these two bakeries Saturday morning. After visiting Tartine and B Patisserie, Arizmendi was our final bakery and our last stop on our Bay Area foodie tour. Just like the other two bakeries, Arizmendi was a popular destination, it was different than the other two in the selection of the pastries, and I highly recommend their corn cranberry scone and their cheese focaccia. Arizmendi is also located in the Mission District specifically on Valenica and 24th Street. The bakery is in between a Royal gas station and the KitTea Cat Lounge. Parking consists of street parking and just like the other bakeries, parking could be challenging, but Arizmendi is worth the trouble parking and walking to this confectionary paradise. This bakery is a business where their baked goods are enjoyed at home since there is minimal seating. What's unique about this bakery compared to the other two is how the baked goodies are selected. It is self serve where it's a little hectic trying to maneuver around other customers to pick the pastries and breads you desire. The young black lady behind the register who checked us out was courteous, friendly, and took care of us quickly. As you enter Arizmendi, there are four wooden display cases with plexiglass holding scones, cinnamon rolls, muffins, pies, croissants, focaccia, cookies, and shortbreads. As you peer through the plexiglass to decide what to select, make sure to grab the provided wax to pick up your baked goods and place them in the provided bags. One of our friends asked us to grab scones, so scones were one of the items we knew we were going to purchase. My wife selected other items, but I asked her for a focaccia because my cousin said that Arizmendi was know for their pizza breads. I highly recommend you purchase their corn cranberry scones. These scones are hearty, the cranberry is plentiful, and I really enjoyed these while I was drinking a coffee at home. The focaccia I picked was a cheese focaccia made with poblanos, kale, and queso fresco. That square pizza bread was a savory revelation where I devoured that as snack after heating it in our home toaster oven. It was cheesy, the poblanos and kale were tasty, and I completely agreed with my cousin's assessment about their pizza bread. We're so grateful to our cousins for taking valuable time to serve as our foodie tour guides during our trip to San Francisco. Bay Area denizens are blessed to have three bakeries where they can satisfy their pastry, dessert, and bread cravings. We're fans of Arizmendi's scones and pizza bread.

The only downside is that it's not given to you heated. Eating it cold was not optimal. The banana "tart" because I don't recall the exact name, is to die for! It's sweet, it's sooo good! It's like banana crack. It has caramelized parts to it, and you won't want to share it!! The double backed pistachio/blackberry croissant is a food group all its own. It's everything you want in a pastry! The Thai tea was just OK. Super pricey for the amount. It's not that traditional taste profile.
