I love coming here for the coconut bread. My family has been coming here since the 80s and now as an adult I make sure to stop by and grab my dozen of coconut breads. They are soo so good! Staff is always nice and so helpful too!

Had a going away soirée for a co-worker and wanted to grab some Chinese pastries. I also didn't want to head all the way to Chinatown. Found Kings on Yelp and it hit the spot. Unusual to find an Asian- Latin bakery in the Outer Mission , but glad I found it! It's a quasi self serve place- grab a pizza pan, some tongs, then have at it! I got a dozen cocktail buns and half dozen baked pork buns. Smelled great on my drive back to the office. Tasted even better! I'll be back-

Not bad! Love the sesame balls!! Tiramisu on the other hand was just chocolate cake... and the strawberry cake is super spongy with a super kick of coconut! I'll be back to try more. Definitely affordable.

It's been years since I stepped foot in this bakery. I visited a Saturday evening and bought a napoleon. I took a bite but decided to save it for Sunday morning. On Sunday morning my pastry crumbled apart and I noticed dark grayish fuzzy spots in between layers- it was mold. Mold can make you sick. A lot of his customers are eldery people.

Yummy freshly baked bread and pastries! Kings Bakery Cafe was the first stop on a food tour my supervisor signed our team up for. Kings Bakery Cafe is known for their Coconut Buns but what really stand out are the Freshly Baked French Baguettes. Our group got to go to the back and watch the baker take the loaves out of the oven. It smelled heavenly! When we returned to the front of the shop a line was starting to form. They were waiting for those French Baguettes. The Coconut Bun was light and buttery and coconut-y (in the middle). The French Baguette was warm and so so satisfying to bite into. Definitely the type of bread to be best right out of the oven. We also tried the Chocolate Sponge Cake Roll. I grew up eating these and it was very moist and airy unlike the dry and dense ones at other bakeries.

7x7 Big Eat 2010 Other reviews mentioned that King's is a cross of Chinese and Mexican bakery, so I was curious to see what this coconut bun is about. The bakery is quite small. They have a front counter full of pastries and a wall of self-serve pastries. Tray after tray, I tried to figure out which one is the coconut bun. Finally I asked the old man behind the counter who was more than happy to help. Me: Excuse me, which one is the coconut bun? Old Man: Where did you hear about our coconut bun? Newspaper? Magazine? Me: The internet. Old Man: Here, this is what it looks like. *nudges me out the door* This! *points at the magazine spread featuring the coconut bun* I thought that was cute. Like a proud papa showing off his son. #52 Coconut bun (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/huk7njvrDyP8ZBxW9Kk19A?select=1Y158j_1nleHBt2GzGjj3w): Very surprised to see this. Why, it's the bun I grew up eating! Except we called it 'Cocktail' bun. Despite my bun being slightly squished, it was very tasty. Generous amount of filling and rich in flavors. Ah childhood memories! Cinnamon Spiral (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/huk7njvrDyP8ZBxW9Kk19A?select=EHVx7gcs6DDeYlZstGyw0Q) (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/huk7njvrDyP8ZBxW9Kk19A?select=LLuaU7Pd53-mNoWIPVnMsw): I took the liberty of naming this if you couldn't tell. This thing is ginormous! So much sugar! The texture reminded me of a palmier but slightly softer. The only complaint I have about King's is their pastries and baked goods being exposed, literally. Their food is not covered and their door is constantly open. Also, people can easily mess with the items on the self-serve wall. We went there at night and our pastries did not taste as fresh.

We went late in the day which I assume affected the texture of the cake (They were a little dry). We got chocolate salted caramel which had great flavor. We especially liked the frosting which was fluffy and not too sweet, red velvet which had an artificial taste, banana which tasted too fake, and lemon which had a delicious custard or pudding filling. All in all, we enjoyed the cupcakes but next time we will try to get there earlier when they're fresher.

I was wearing a Star of David necklace. The employee on duty initially interacted normally and offered a small promotional incentive with a purchase. During our conversation about flavors, the employee asked me, "What side are you on?" When I asked for clarification, she proceeded to ask whether I was a "Zionist" and "Orthodox." I responded politely and honestly that I am both. Immediately after this response, the employee withdrew the previously offered promotion and stated that I would need to pay full price. The questioning and subsequent change in treatment appeared to be based solely on my religious identity and perceived political beliefs. The way the term "Zionist" was used was hostile, and the interaction became uncomfortable and inappropriate. I remained polite throughout. My friend suggested that we leave due to the employee's behavior, and we did so. As we exited, we stated that it did not seem like this was a business that wanted our patronage. The employee responded that she was not the owner and "just worked there." Regardless of her role, no customer should be questioned about their religion or identity or treated differently because of it. I am sharing this experience so that others are aware and in the hope that the business addresses this conduct and ensures that all customers are treated with respect.

I even added significantly to the order about 28 hours in advance. They delivered on time, everything was packaged nicely. Their prices are reasonable ($35 for a dozen mini donuts, mixed flavors), plus they had both vegan and gluten-free options (must buy a dozen of each if mini cupcakes). They were easy to contact by phone or email. When they delivered, they dropped off with a colleague and texted me the confirmation. The only downside is you cant' choose your flavors in the mixed dozen (I'd requested carrot cake in the form but we didn't get any).
