I got caught in the rain when I was strolling on Mission. When I turned the corner on 16th Street, I realized there was a panaderia that could provide me with a brief respite from the downpour. My all-too-common experience with panaderias was that the pan dulce looked better than it actually tasted. I kept looking at the Chocolate Cake with the curly-Q icing on top. I was having a baby boomer flashback to those Hostess cupcakes my mom would put in my Superman lunch box. At around $3 each, I decided to get also a pink Concha and take them home to reward myself for surviving the rain (photo: https://yelp.to/ZegLQ2BOIE). They were tastier than I expected, moister and sweeter than previous ones I've bought on 24th Street. So I found myself on 16th a couple of weeks later. This time I picked out the $2.08 Nino Envuelto and the $3.64 Panque Marmoleado (photo: https://yelp.to/HNXVJYDJiy). Aren't you impressed by my Spanish? OK, I took a snap of the order screen. The Nino Envuelto was a slice of a cake roll slathered with strawberry jam and sprinkled with coconut shavings. The Panque Marmoleado was a homestyle marbled pound cake. I'll be back. PAN DULCE - 4 stars...better than most because they tasted moist and just sweet enough AMBIANCE - 4 stars...clean, sparse, just a couple of tables SERVICE - 4 stars...friendly and attentive TOTAL - 4 stars...could become my go-to panaderia RELATED - Exploring the Mission? Conchas and polvorones and muffins oh my!!!

We stopped in after lunch next door at Cocina Mayah (which was delicious btw, go check them out too...) and took a few pastries home for our weekend treat. We picked up two conchas, a sweet cornbread muffin, a ring shaped pastry and a couple of wedding cookies. For me, the wedding cookies were the absolute star of the show. They were light and flakey and sweet without being overpowering ... and they just melted right in your mouth. Outstanding. The conchas were good also, especially dipped in milk or coffee, and they seemed to have a touch of cinnamon in the dough perhaps...which set them apart from others that I've had. The cornbread muffin was very nice if a bit sweet for me, and the ring pastry was not something I'd seen before. I almost don't know what to compare it to. It's a very flakey dough and not very sweet at all. At first I wasn't sure if I liked it but it really grew on me and it would be very good with a cup of hot tea. Those cookies though. Awesome. We'll be back for sure.

I go to Merida Yucatan about 6 times and a year and I have always missed their cafes. This bakery makes identical pasties! Their Hojaldra's are the best around. Every bite is a burst of memory. It looks like your normal bakery but the pastries shine enough. There is no special ambiance. Walking in you get a breath full of sweet air. The employees are kind and speedy.

Wow~ how did I not know about this place whereas I'd been to school near this area for 4 years?! How shameful of us! I was on my usual directionless self when my friend guided me back to where we were but in an opposite street. It was cold, windy, typical San Fran summer weather. We both thought from the other side of the street, we ought to get something in these hanger tummies or else. We crossed the street, went into this not-so-out-there bakery. Too simple to be honest. A new set of cookies came out, I spotted the creamy custard filled sugar sweet and had to have them. Oh my Gosh! It tasted like heaven. Every drop!!! The sweet potatoes pastry was also delicious. My friend got the berry pastry, also another sweet potatoes and some cookies. I'm not much of a cookies person but they were good. Definitely a come back place for us. Y'all gotta try for yourself. Hella dope!

There was a lot of natural light in the coffee shop, definitely a visually-appealing, 'aesthetic' place. I got an iced red tea and it was delicious. The tea was botanical, smooth and fragrant. Amazing experience! Excited to come back and try the coffee and pastries, which looked super fresh.

It seems like there's also an upstairs but did not get the chance to check it out. I got an iced latte with their almond macadamia milk, and they're also so nice to do complimentary cold brew! So we got an extra drink for free. Trying the iced latte, it was pretty disappointing lol. I thought it would be similar to like a Hawaiian style latte with macadamia milk, but it was a lot lighter than I thought. It was definitely very nutty, but it also just tasted like water down latte. Honestly not much going on with the drink, but it does taste lighter in general. Crazy have to pay $1.50 more to add on this milk. Overall, its alright. I do like the natural lighting coming into the shop, but nothing too special.

Walked over early on a Sunday AM to do some lesson plans before the rush of the day and was surprised to see a no WiFi sign at the checkout. I got a vanilla latte with oat milk and it was SO creamy and well balanced. The espresso tasted great, the vanilla wasn't overpowering, and everything worked really well together. I'm actually someone who rarely finishes an entire coffee, but I liked this one so much that I finished the whole thing! My one disappointment was that I specifically came here hoping to get some work done and found out they don't have WiFi. It's a little surprising considering how many tables they have, and the space otherwise seems like it would be great for working. Definitely something to keep in mind if you're bringing your laptop. But purely based on the coffee, I had a great experience and would absolutely get that latte again!

Coffee is great and staff is always super welcoming and have attention to detail. I always stop in for a bag of freshly roasted beans and doing so gets you a free cup of drip coffee or cold brew. The only thing that is slightly inconvenient is the constantly long line to order. On the bright side once you order you get your drink right away regardless of what you order. It's a solid assembly line operation they got going. Especially in my case when I typically only get a bag of beans to-go I wonder if they could change the system to allow me to forgo the line altogether, that would be a pleasant change. Anyways I highly recommend this coffee shop! High quality all the way around!

It was nicely spiced, smooth, and made with House made macadamia almond milk. Delightful!

I typically don't add any sweeteners but was surprised at how their high quality milk had a little bit of sweetness (perhaps from the lactose?) that balanced the matcha nicely. The matcha americano with matcha snow top was also impressive. The americano was nicely mixed to begin with and paired well with the creamy, slightly sweet and slightly salty matcha cream without compromising the matcha bitterness. There were two lines - one for the kiosk and the other for staff. Since the latter line was shorter I thought I could get my order in early but the lady was *struggling* to get my orders straight and I had to repeat multiple times + she ultimately had to ask her co-workers how to edit. If it wasn't for this, I would have probably given them a 5. Drinks came out at a reasonable time but wish they cleaned the extra cream off the side. Despite the logistical hiccups I enjoyed my matcha drinks and would come back if I was craving matcha and in the area again.
