Solid bowl of pho that comes with all the fixings inside of the bowl. The broth was clean, crisp, and aromatic - definitely was came out piping hot and warmed my soup after a late night at the movies. The regular pho came with one meatball and a good portion of rib eye. As I continued to eat, the meat was cooked perfectly and the balance of fat to lean ratio was on point. The place is immaculate so not sure why the B rating, but I was happy with Mama Pho, overall. The pho came out quickly and I was able to pay and get on the L train to head jack to Manhattan. Minus one star since there was literally just one beef meatball but I didn't like it very much so it all worked out in the end since I was content with the amount of quality ribeye that was in the dish. It sucks to give this place two stars when their pho is really tasty. I had to give it two stars because their pho is extremely oily. I didn't finish my food because it was too much oil. When i rinsed out the containers so i can throw them in the recycling bin, I had to wash the oil from my hands three times because it was that oily. Also, it was too expensive for oily food. Their rolls weren't that impressive. My cousin ate half and we threw out the other half - not worth the calories. Needs a lot of improvement. read more

Its not bad. Im not much of a pho person, but I always come here when I'm about to get a cold. Hot pho with some hot sauce in it definitely cleans out your sinuses. Ive had the vegetarian broth pho with extra noodles and the spring rolls. I didnt really like the spring rolls - they were very dry. The pho was good. There's seating in the back and the front of the restaurant and there's actually more space than you would expect from such a tiny storefront. Service is good. Prices are ok - a bowl of pho with extra noodles will cost you about $12. That's average for a small meal in the area. I recommend coming here if you're in the mood for a decent bowl of pho. A review from a Vietnamese guy. I happened to be in the area so I decided to stop by for a bowl of pho. Pho here is pretty legit despite the 3.5 star rating overall for the restaurant. Broth itself is fairly decent so I don't really have any complaints about that. Definitely a southern Vietnam style pho as with many if not all the Viet restaurants I've been to in NYC. My only con, which is a personal preference is that the condiments (bean sprouts, jalapeños, cilantro, Thai basil) should be kept on the side to allow me to decide what I want to add to the dish. We ordered 2 classic banh mi sandwiches from here and we were a little disappointed. The sandwich was good, but it wasn't your traditional grilled pork flavors that I enjoy in my banh mi. There was no cilantro in both our sandwiches which also took away from the flavor as well. read more

Mama Pho is Amazing!!! Sure they got rid of the veggie chicken/pork choices sndwiches, but the tofu veggie one never disappoints. The vegetarian soup is also amazing, super delicious and filling. Service is always on point. Today, they even put up with my ridiculous request to sub-divide one pho, they went above and beyond. (I am NOT asking for that again, I felt silly in the first place to even ask for something like that.) Good food, terrible service My office (6 people) ordered weekday lunch at 11:45 am direct from restaurant (i.e., not through Seamless). My office is is located by the Marcy Avenue J stop, i.e., a 5 minute drive or 15 minute walk from the restaurant. At 1pm, we called to inquire where the food was and were told it was on its way, but the drive was stuck in traffic on Broadway. At 1:45pm (the 2 hour mark) we called again to cancel the order and get a refund. We were told they would not honor request because the food would arrive in any minute. The food finally arrived at 2:10 pm -- cold and congealed. Two hours in traffic to drive somewhere 5 minutes away? I call BS. They're refusal to refund just bad business. read more

The place is very small and ideal for couples (3 max). The staff were friendly and helpful. I ordered the Papa Pho, the soup came in a giant bowl and had lots of meat. My bowl did not have a lot of noodles but I was still full at the end of the night. I left very little as the pho was delicious and meat tender. read more

The pho is solid. Normally i go to the grand st location as its more spacious but its the same menu and consistency. Broth is cooked for 10+ hours, on a cold day you can't beat it. My go to is the catfish, which i get on the side so it doesn't get soggy. But, every option is good. Bone marrow can be a little heavy/thick but worth a try to mix it up since we come so often. Pho aside, sandwhiches are good, summer rolls are good, everything is good. It is a little more expensive than what you get in Chinatown but thats expected in w.burg. read more

This place is amazing !!!! Ordered lemongrass chicken pho & shrimp summer roll and both are too good !!!! The chicken is absolutely unreal, cooked perfectly, juicy, TOO GOOD !! Rest of pho was the perfect amount of spicy, with jalapeños, mint & parsley, but not too overpowering. Broth (chicken) was enough to balance the spicy ness of the rest. Shrimp summer roll was great as well as the peanut sauce it comes with. Would have taken a picture but I finished them right away. I've been spoiled by having great ramen options in the NYC area so I rarely opt for pho but this stuff is worlds apart from any pho I have had the pleasure of nomming upon. The broth today was not overly umami and struck a nice balance between a beefy base, a bit of spice, and playing nicely with my a fishy protein which surprised me. I got the rib eye beef pho. They add mint and jalapeño to their regular which are two of my favorite greens. Needed a little bit of flavor (not sure what) but I added lemon and the sauce they had on the table which made it perfect. It's a small place with a very friendly service. read more

This place was pretty delicious. Pho was yummy and had great flavour. They don't bring the bean sprouts, jalapenos, etc. on the side, as with most pho restaurants, but it didn't bother me. Had bahn mi for delivery with the beef. The bread was dry and hard to eat, the meat was SEVERELY lacking and stuffed so deep in the side of the bread that you can't get a even bite of all the ingredients. There's no sauce of any kind (traditional bahn mi's don't), but it was so dry you'd wish there was some kind of sauce. When delivered, they're put into open sandwhich bags and the delivery bag is also opened without any of the antitamper stickers/staples to the bag. Stay away! If you love good pho, or good food, I do not recommend spending your hard earned money here. As a pho lover, I REALLY REALLY wanted to like this place as it's the only pho place in my area; however, I was BEYOND disappointed with my experience today. First of all, lets get real, there is zero ambience, so you would expect the food to be outstanding to make up for it; that's not the case. The seating of the restaurant is the hallway where you walk in. Now on to the pho- I don't even know where to start. Firstly, there was a lady bug wing in my (rather small) soup, I told the waiter and he replaced it for me but I was still charged for it! Second, the broth was kind of bland and SUPER oily/greasy; you could see the little bubbles of grease floating around in the soup- disgusting. And lastly, to top it all off the beef they use has to be the cheapest most fattiest cut; I think I had less than an ounce of real meat, the rest was all fat. The cherry on top of this whole experience is the way the pho is served. I have been to literally countless pho places around the world (including S.E Asia) and the condiments (lime, bean sprouts, jalapeno, cilantro) are ALWAYS served on the side so you can customize your bowl how you want. This is crucial to the whole pho experience. Here at Mama Pho, they serve your soup with the condiments already in it!! Blasphemy!.. Like what if I don't want cilantro in my pho.. not cool. I left with $20+ down the drain and a feeling of heavy greasiness like after a McDonald's meal (never felt that way after pho before). Save your time and money and skip this spot. read more
