Small little Vietnamese place the specializes on bahn mi and has some other dishes as well. They have 2 small round tables and a high table at the window. My daughter liked the labubu toys hanging on the wall. They also has some bahn mi place swag hanging on the wall, looks like they have been there for 20 years though based on the staining. I ordered a regular and a grill pork and the food came out relatively quickly. The bread and meat were decent and so was the size of the sandwich itself. The carrots and radish did not taste pickled, however for the area I think this is a decent bahn mi option. read more

I ordered a Classic Banh Mi ($10.50) via DoorDash, which was efficient. The banh mi was still crisp and warm. It's interesting that their classic version is a ground pork. It's flavorful from all the sauce, but a bit messy to eat. There's decent amount of fillings, but not very even, so you would get a vegetable bite and then a meat bite. I tried the tofu pho here and it was so delicious... I've honestly been dreaming about it since. The tofu had a subtle sweetness that paired perfectly with the fresh lime and broth. The texture of the tofu was perfect, and the whole soup was warm and so satisfying. Their Thai tea is also a standout, definitely one of my favorites in the city. I also really appreciate that they offer great veggie and gluten-free options, which can be hard to find in spots like this. My only small complaint is that my takeout order didn't come with utensils, so I had to wait until I got home to eat, which was tough because I was so excited to dig in since it's so delicious! We decided to stop by Banh Mi Place after an afternoon at the nearby Brooklyn Museum. It's not a gigantic space, but there are a few tiny tables inside if you can nab one.  Service was polite and accommodating. The summer rolls ($7.25 for two) were solid. I ordered the classic sandwich ($10.25) which was pretty good but kind of overwhelming with the mayo. The pate was somewhat lost as a result. There was also Vietnamese ham and roasted ground pork in the banh mi, and you could request mild, medium, or spicy. The baguette was delicious, and the sandwich size was filling.  I was a bigger fan of the rice vermicelli salad ($9.50 plus $3 for grilled pork) which we got to go. They actually kept well and were perfect to take on a picnic the next day! read more

I've had traditional pho on several occasions, and unfortunately, this just wasn't it. The broth lacked flavor, in part because there was no hoisin sauce provided on the side to adjust the taste to preference. The most frustrating part of my experience was the bean sprouts. They were already placed in with the noodles, so I had to hand-pick them out. I've never seen sprouts served this way--whether dining in or ordering to go. Typically, the sprouts, noodles, and meat are served separately so diners can customize their bowl. This took away that flexibility and authenticity for me and made the meal more frustrating than enjoyable. The final straw was the noodles. They were chopped into short pieces, which made them mushy and difficult to eat. One of the pleasures of pho is slurping up long, silky noodles, and cutting them up really took away from that. I had been excited to enjoy a comforting, authentic bowl, but these details ended up diminishing the meal. I'd encourage the restaurant to stay closer to traditional presentation and preparation--it really makes a difference in the overall experience. read more

The summer rolls were good. It's been hard to find good summer rolls. The broth was decent but I wish the beef pho came with tendon, brisket, beef balls, and more. It was the simplest pho I've had where it's just sliced beef. Also, the Jasmine bubble tea is alright. Boba was ok. We lucked out on finding a table. It gets filled quickly. The absolute best banh mis! The bread is perfectly crunchy on the outside, but soft and pillowy on the inside. Just the right amount of pickles, sauce and cilantro. Only been to Banh Mi Place twice, but I'd consider it one of my favorites in the neighborhood. Every sandwich is ~$10 or just under, making it a great option for a cheap lunch. The tofu banh mi was delicious, with fresh bread, perfectly pickled veggies, and a healthy serving of sriracha mayo. I actually liked it so much I came back two days later and tried the seafood sandwich, which was also good but I wasn't as big a fan (it was pretty heavy on crab stick). This place is located on a nice street with a decent amount of foot traffic. Inside, it's ultra small and there is one table and a small counter you can eat at if you want to dine in. This place charges an extra fee for credit card, so I'd recommend paying with cash. I ordered the classic banh mi, which came out to $9.25 total. The first thing I noticed was that the banh mi was fairly small, so that was disappointing. It did seem to be hot and very freshly made, so that was a plus. The bread was pretty crunchy and solid. The flavor and cohesiveness of the sandwich was really good. Unfortunately, there wasn't that much meat on the sandwich so it wasn't that filling. So the banh mi tasted great, but I wish I got more for my money or that the price of the sandwich was lower overall. For the past three years I've been coming to Banh Mi Place and I am never disappointed. I can literally smell when I am getting close to restaurant, to the point where I am classically conditioned to start watering at the mouth. The classic banh mi is clearly made with very fresh ingredients and I just recently started getting the pho. The broth is flavorful and the ingredients are fresh. I genuinely feel better after eating here, especially after the pho has defrosted me from the below 30 degree weather. This is, by far, the best classic Banh mi sandwich I've had in New York. I've also tried the grilled pork sandwich and, though it was decent, I will go back to the classic sandwich. I was looking for a quick bite to eat after visiting the Botanical Gardens with my friend & her daughter. I found Banh Mi Place and it was within walking distance. This small shop makes really yummy Vietnamese food at decent prices, I got a classic mild sandwich with cucumber juice and that came out to be ~$14.00. You can adjust the spiciness from mild, medium to spicy. They have pho, vermicelli and rice dishes as well. There was around 3 small tables with 2 chairs each, but no bathroom sadly. At first our drinks came lukewarm but the staff added more ice cubes after we brought it up. Overall, this shop definitely has potential and the sandwiches were delicious.
