I was surprised to find a plethora of Bahn mi options in Brooklyn Heights/Cobble Hill. We have ordered twice from here before. One in person for take out and one on grub hub for pick up. My nieces thoroughly enjoy bubble tea, and for a while they had wanted me to try this spot. We finally got an opportunity to, and it was delightful! I got the passionfruit tea and an order of summer rolls. One of my favorite Asian sauces by far is the peanut sauce that comes with dishes like the summer rolls. It was fantastic... although, apparently my niece makes a killer one too. So I was excited to try that. There was a table inside that was ideal for us, but two people were sitting there, so we went outside. That table... was grimy LOL. I know it's NYC, but I'm not sure how often it's cleaned, but we had wipes so it was fine. First, the service was just OK. You have to walk downstairs to get your food regardless of if you're eating to stay. They also only have one set of sauces so if it's on someone else's table you basically have to interrupt their dining experience. The soup was a little too cold for me. I like hot soup. Wow! The beef pho ($12.75) was actually good.On my first bite, the reminiscent smell of noodles, jalapenos, bean sprouts, beef, tendons, and the comforting soup hit me. Hanco is a small pho and Banh Mi shop with a limited menu that satisfies your pho craving but is nothing to write home about. The broth is on the spice-forward side but not very r rich. We've only done takeout and I like that the beef arrives raw but sometimes we have to reheat the broth to be hot enough to cook the beef fully. The beef combo dish is beef brisket and tendons but I find the the brisket to be quite chewy. I am obsessed with Hanco's. Not only is it a few blocks away from my apartment, but the food and beverages are great. I order from this place pretty much once a week, which means you know it's consistently good. My typical order rotates between the rice vermicelli salad and the pho. I tried vegetarian pork with my vermicelli salad and now I only have it with it. Really cool to see a viet food place that offers so many options for protein as well as options to customize (extra sauce, extra noodles, etc). For the pho, I usually get the beef one with all the tendons. It's a perfect meal for the day after a long night out with drinks. For drinks, they also have a lot of options for bubble tea/boba which is great if you like having milk tea one day and a refreshing iced green another day. My normal drink order is the iced green tea with lychee jelly and no sugar. I usually only deliver, and it always comes on time or earlier, and if there are any issues they are very proactive with reaching out to follow up. I don't get why their ratings are so low. Don't believe the negativity on those! The food and delivery service are top notch. This place was bussing on a Sunday night, with plenty of people picking up orders or getting takeout. Got the regular beef pho and was good, however, it comes like takeout with the soup and noodles separately. This means the meat will be raw and you for the hot broth over to cook it! The beef broth tasted really clean. The only thing is I wish it came with extra lime, cilantro, jalapeños, basil, beansprouts, etc. like pho normally does. This is my go to Vietnamese spot when I'm in the area looking for bubble tea & a summer roll for under $15.00. The menu will appeal to vegans, vegetarians & carnivores alike so you can always find something to satisfy. The food is decent, prices are average but the place is not the cleanest. I can't say that the one on Smith is any cleaner. If they are both run by the same management then it makes sense. We have tried three Hanco's and they have the same impeccably high quality ingredients. We get the veggie "pork." It's not pork at all but a vegan creation that I love. Came here recently not so much for the food, especially being it was my first time here but more so to conduct an interview for a project I was doing for class. Very nice staff. Had ordered bubble team for the first time (in which I was using the wrong straw at first to drink it in.) Also order a summer roll, which looked very out of the ordinary for me compared to other Asian rolls that I have tried. I opened the roll being that I wasn't used to how they make theirs and ate that wrong as well until I was taught that I am suppose to eat the roll as it is made (foolish me.) Despite not being a fan of peanut butter at all, it tasted okay with the peanut sauce that it came with. Overall the experience was good.
