The ratio of fillings were decent, but didn't like how the pickled carrots and daikon are so soggy and clumped up. Wasn't exactly soft enough for my teeth yet, but it was manageable and delicious, so I finished one taco and shared the rest with my sister. It was a little pricier than I would have liked, but maybe it's because I'm used to prices in Chinatown. Overall though, it was worth it. Next time I come, I might try their veggie chicken (chicken flavor infused tofu) banh mi/taco. Was in the neighborhood waiting for someone and decided to give Banhmigos a second try while I waited. The first time I tried their food was shortly after they newly opened. I ordered a Beef Short Rib Pho, and I found the flavors to be plain and uninspired. The portion was also small compared to what you'd normally get from traditional Vietnamese restaurants. After this first experience, I had written them off as being a non-repeat. Fast forward to January 2023, and I have an hour to kill right in front of this restaurant. There were plenty of other restaurants I could have gone to, but I decided to give Banhmigos another try and actually order a banh mi, which is what they're named for. This time, I liked what I ordered! I decided to try their Traditional banh mi, which had Vietnamese ham, liver paté, roast ground pork, and pickled fixings of daikon radish and carrots, stuffed into a French baguette. While it tasted slightly different from the other banh mis I've had, it still had great, authentic flavor, and the crusty baguette was very light and airy. The size of the sandwich was smaller than others I've had, but it was enough to be filling. I bought a Vietnamese ice coffee to wash it all down and that was really good as well. Rich, dark coffee, lightly sweetened with condensed milk. It was creamy and delicious. The entire meal was surprisingly satisfying compared to my first experience. The only other criticism I have is the cost of the food. The sandwich was $4 more than what other Vietnamese restaurants charge, but I rationalized this was due to the real estate of the area. I ordered the shredded chicken rice bowl and it was just decent. The chicken had no seasoning. All of the flavor was in the vinaigrette and sriracha. Worse than the food was the customer service, however. After bagging my food, the cashier/server held the bag out to me without even looking up from her phone like she was handing me a bag of trash. So a recent stop at Bahnmigos had some unexpected twists. I ordered a Thai tea, which is my favorite, but really delicious here. I also ordered a extra spicy shrimp banh mi to go and happily went home anticipating the first bite. Distracted and reading while taking the first bite, I didn't notice until the second bite that my sandwich had shredded chicken, not shrimp. I contacted the store and let them know. They were aware because the person that had my sandwich had come back to the store. They offered me another sandwich on them, but I had to pick it up before closing. I agreed and planned to go back in the evening. BTW, the chicken was really delicious. My daughter and I ventured out to go get my sandwich (I gave her the bigger half lol) and two more teas. I wish I had knew what I know now... The chicken is actually the tastier filling and I will skip the shrimp in the future. So I frequent this place pretty often. I decided to get a regular sandwich with pate and cold cut meat as well as a Vietnamese iced coffee. The interiors of the sandwich is pretty standard - there's nothing you can really complain about, maybe more pickled vegetables other than carrots would be nice. What I really like about this place is the bread. Usually Banh Mi bread is pretty hard and hard to chew through since it kind of scratches the roof of your mouth however, this place's bread is supersoft which I really enjoy. Vietnamese iced coffee is pretty strong and nicely sweet. I would definitely recommend that if you want a caffeine does or if it's a really hot day. read more

The platter also comes with half a boiled egg and some side salad. You can choose your choice of meat to be in a bahn mi sandwich, rice platter, pho soup or over a vermicelli salad. There is also a number of vegetarian options. And bubble teas. A small place with a few small tables. Service here is great. Attentive and helpful. The bread is perfectly crusty but soft on the interior, the pork so flavorful and sliced thinly enough to eliminate any textural issues that might slow down a less adventurous eater. The pickled vegetables need to be distributed better across the sandwich (personal preference), but the ratios are right for the compact sandwich. It isn't huge, but it's so well-balanced, it's perfect for lunch, and medium spicy hits my palate just right. Cute joint for Vietnamese staples like pho, banh mi, and summer rolls. The "migos" part of their name comes from their option to put your meat of choice in a traditional banh mi baguette or 2 flour tortillas. I ordered the short rib banh mi and shrimp summer roll, which were cranked out in about 5 minutes. They require masks to enter and order, so keep that in mind. Vegetables were fresh, meats nicely seasoned, overall tasty sandwiches. I usually prefer a little more filling so that it reaches the end of the bread, but that's a minor complaint since I like the rolls they use. So far, one of the better banh mi's in New York City. It still cannot compare to the banh mi in California. After eating at a bunch of places, it has to do with their bread. In NYC, a lot of the banh mi places use this softer roll which does not go well with the supposed crunch. Banhmigos counteracts this by toasting the bread longer which makes it crunchier. I got the Veggie Chicken which was tasty and better than some other banh mi places here. The only criticism is that the spiciness comes from sriracha and not from actually jalapenos. The sauce was a bit non existent as I am used to mayo or something being offered in the sandwich. Overall, not bad, but a pricey version of Ba Xuyen with more options. read more

I think I've been to all of them at this point, and you can always count on them for a great meal. This time, I ordered delivery from the Court Street location (which is their newest). Got a regular banh mi (great), as well as beef short rib pho (also great), and a free order of the shrimp summer rolls (Uber Eats deal). Of course, I didn't eat all this at once. I gambled on "medium" spice level and this was just superb - it was medium by old-school outer borough standards, not by gentrified standards. And the bread isn't the most important thing for banh mi but this is was above average. The Thai iced tea was perfect for a 90-ish day after a walk. Banhmigos is a wonderful addition to the neighborhood. This fast casual Vietnamese spot made its debut on Court St. late 2019 just prior to the apocalypse of 2020. We frequent this place about once a month for a convenient and delicious meal (pick-up). We're partial to their banhmi sandwich (that bread is fantastic!) and the vermicelli salad with grilled pork or beef short rib (choice of protein). The flavors are all incredibly well-balanced. The pho here is pretty good - perfect for wintertime, although admittedly the noodles texture isn't my favorite. I also recommend an order of the summer rolls to complete your meal. What distinguishes Banhmigos from the competition is the service. The owner is so friendly! This place was recently vandalized, which breaks my heart (not surprising given the direction NYC is heading in *eye roll*).
