I will start this way, in 2023 I moved from a 1340 sq ft home to a 950 sq ft home using Honolulu Movers. TWO workers (2) took 2 hours to move me from one place to the other. Last month I moved from that home (950 sq ft) to a 425 sq. ft. studio. It took Malama Movers four (4) men and 3 hours. I was charged over $600 + I tipped $120. It seemed that the two younger boys did all the work while the other 2 loaded and stood around. When they arrived at my new residence, the same two boys moved everything from the elevator lobby up to the ninth floor and down the hall to my new place. The other two just unloaded and trucked my things to the lobby and nothing else. I have a big problem with being charged that extra hour. If they had worked together AS A TEAM, it would have saved me $200. There's also a mystery charge of $30 in the "BOX" section I can't account for bc everything was boxed up and I had my own extra boxes available. It's incredible to me that 4 men took 3 hours to move me into a studio less than 3 miles from where I lived. I wish I had tipped the two younger boys more bc they worked really hard! Be careful and wary of what each mover is doing. My feeling is that this was a way to add that extra hour to my billing and I want that money refunded. I wish that I was smart enough to remember who I used last time through my Yelp review. It would have literally saved me $220 plus tax. The office staff and the movers at Malama were pleasant, no complaints about that. I just feel that I'm owed for the extra hour they managed to cheat me out of. First off, let me start by saying that this was my first time hiring movers, and I could not have been more satisfied with the level of customer service and care I've received from start to finish with Malama Moving... When I first reached out a few weeks ago to several moving companies through Yelp, Jayne with Malama Moving was the first to respond. On top of that, their quote was the BEST out of the others that were given. After reaching out to and wanting to schedule, she made the appointment process easy and quick. I simply took pictures of the items that needed to be moved, which was an entire bedroom set and my personal belongings, and described the moving process. I explain to her that I lived in a three story walk up and was moving to another three story walk up, and she assured that it wouldn't be a problem; and they definitely came through for me. Prior to my scheduled day of the move I was given a courtesy call to let me know that the morning time slot was available and that the movers would arrive at 8:30am, which really helped me to plan for the move the morning of. On the day of the move, I was met with Kirk, Elgene, and Issac, who showed up on time and all of them ready to work; ALL of them very professional and patient throughout the entire moving out process. Kirk even ensured that the landlord I was renting from was satisfied with the condition of the room once everything had been removed, and even offered to take large furniture items out to the trash area without hesitation or complaint. Upon arriving to my new apartment. The guys all worked quickly and efficiently to move everything up four flights of stairs to my new apartment. Everything was moved with care and attention, and more impressively was the teamwork and communication these guys showed, it really speaks to the commitment they have to the company, the job itself, and especially to the customers they serve. I hope that by sharing my amazing experience, that those reading this will also get to experience the same level of service and care that I received from this amazing team. Horrible, dishonest company! They stole multiple items from my move, including a portable A/C, and very expensive tools that belonged to my ex, that I am now having to pay him for. I caught them red handed stealing the A/C, I have proof that they admitted to stealing it, and yes, they did return it- days later after I noticed it was missing!!! WTF! They were so fast in responses to questions and even when I needed to change the date last minute they were extremely accommodating.
