Wow. I kind of wanted to gate keep this biz but how would I do that when e1 else had the same awesome experience as me lol I just finished my 8th move in less than 7 years with Alfredo and his team. You could say I have a lot of experience with movers as I inherited my father's personally woodworked furniture which added to my own collection that he made for me. I have a lot of sentimental (and heavy) stuff plus I have a herniated disc, so moving is even more overwhelming. And moving every year for so long has been so much less than ideal. When I was soliciting quotes for our move, I wrote that I was seeking a fixed or "not to exceed" price rather than an hourly rate, saying I would be happy to arrange a site visit or walkthrough for an accurate quote. I sent it to one promising mover and let Yelp select an additional four others. Most everyone who responded had seemingly attractive hourly rates, but no cap. A typical answer was that this sort of move might take somewhere between x and y hours. Doing the math, it could easily exceed my budget. Alfredo of Making Moves was different. He asked to speak with me, so I gave him my number. When he phoned me, he asked for specific details and had me walk him through the items I wanted moved as I went through each room. He gave me a quote based on a fairly high hourly rate but capped the number of hours. This resulted in a quote that fit within my budget. On moving day, they actually arrived early, which worked well for us. I needed to stay out of their way as they moved quickly and efficiently, taking care with the fragile items as they loaded their truck. On the other end, they worked just as efficiently and carefully, unloading and transporting everything to our new home. The movers were respectful and easy to communicate with. They even finished earlier than the estimated time, which meant I received a reduced price. I bought a tv stand off fb marketplace and needed help getting it from an apartment complex to my place. Alfredo was really nice and easy to talk to. This is a much delayed review but I wanted to make sure I shared my unforgettable experience... About 2 months ago, my container pod arrived from the mainland and after calling 7 different storage places, I found one that was affordable, close by, and most importantly, had the space to keep the container pod overnight for pickup. What I didn't factor in, was the truck that would have dropped off the pod, was too large for the narrow and busy streets around the storage place, and I only had the following day to have it delivered. It was also a holiday weekend so I knew the likelihood of finding a moving company to load my things from the pod to a moving truck... in less than 24 hours... was slim and I was ready to face my brother's long suffering, passive aggressive sigh when I'd ask him for help. (Even though several of the boxes I brought over were his! But still). Alfredo was the only one who could answered my cry for help, because let me tell you, it was getting to ugly-cry level because after 10 very intense months of project planning my life and moving back home, I was so wiped out from all the curveballs & couldn't believe I had another one to deal with. When I heard Alfredo's deep rich laugh after a joke I made about my brother disowning me if I tried to store all my stuff into his 600 sq ft bachelor pad, I could feel the stress melt away... it was going to be all right and I was ready to eat 7-11 musubis for a while, in case this cost me a fortune. I just wanted what remained of mine and my family's belonging, in a safe, secure, room temp controlled place. Alfredo and his team were patiently waiting for me at the container pod place and I really wished I had put on at least a little makeup ( I can be a bit vain...) because I got to meet Alfredo and his team. I received a quote back for $2,150. I was in shock. I replied that the quote was ridiculous for just moving furniture to a storage unit. The owner just replied with "ok". I'm not sure if they don't want new customers or are trying to rip people off? I received multiple other quotes with none more than $500 for 2 hours.
