The guys worked hard for our move, no doubt about that. They worked the whole time and weren't lazy. The only downside about this moving company is there was damage to our furniture/tv. If you use them, make sure you protect your own furniture by wrapping it well. This is the mistake I made. Also our tv was damaged, no cracked screen, we just have a vertical line during certain images on the left edge of the screen now. It was an expensive oled, we spent over 4k for it. They didn't use the box I purchased and assured me would be better out of the box. My fault for not insisting on using the box. Our tv stand suffered minor dings, like paint chips, I was able to cover it up with some touch up paint so no big deal. I would recommend them if you protect your own items well. read more

Scheduled a move 2 weeks in advance. Was supposed to meet at storage units at 9a. Received phone call at 9:30a saying their truck broke down so they'd be there at 1p. When called at noon to make sure they'd be there, no answer. After numerous phone calls between the agent, moving company rep (the ONLY ONE at Ewa Moving who was helpful & went above & beyond) and even the owner of Ewa Moving, items were finally picked up at 3:45p. They loaded up half because their "largest" truck couldn't do the complete move knowing full well it was 2 completely filled storage units. They finally got to my new home at 6:20p. They were supposed to set things up with what they had. Instead they left it in the garage. When I informed the owner his response was "Ok whatever we didn't finish, XXXXXXX will complete" Wow - lack of professionalism. He made it seem like it was my fault. As a customer I shouldn't have to be making endless phone calls & chasing down movers. This was a contracted move through a moving company. Even they were surprised at the attitude. I cannot ever recommend a company that treats their customers this way. Martin (the owner) says they do a lot of military moves. The apartment's elevator went out when they arrived but they still provided excellent services. My new place was located on the third floor but they got the job done. I like to start witht the good. I found Ewa Moving Company on Yelp and reached out to the owner/operator Martin. He's very responsive and one of the only movers willing to come by and do an estimate in person and that's important to me. He's pleasant and knowledgeable too. I needed a couple hours of packing included and so we agreed on a couple guys to assist for 2-3 hours. This is where the trouble started. One mover was new to the company, Ani, so I was his "trial" and the other more experienced mover, Heman, was on the phone alot and just left halfway through the packing. He didn't notify the owner so I did. Another guy just showed up a bit later to help pack, didn't remove his shoes, didn't introduce himself, and right away spilled my smoothie all over my bedroom carpet, furniture and walls but didn't tell me or clean it up. I'm still cleaning it off my rattan night stand. They didn't finish and just left. I was disappointed and had a big mess to clean up. Moving day came and I was nervous due to lack of communication between the movers and the owner. They showed up on time and ready to work. Great attitudes and hard workers. Why only 3 stars right? They took a detour. Instead of showing up at the storage unit even though we all left at the same time, they disappeared for about 30 minutes while I sweated it. It's a 5 minute drive. lol Martin the owner doesn't know what happened and they didn't communicate with him either. Some of my wood furniture items weren't properly "shrink-wrapped" and arrived busted up. A few items were dropped from being overloaded on the cart, all done by the new guy. I spoke with the owner afterwards and shared my concerns. He offered to clean the carpet which is the right thing to do. He offered a credit for the lost time and he was apologetic. The final cost was much higher than estimated. Bottom line is I have furniture that's damaged, I paid too much for the service provided and there was a constant lack of communication between the owner and the movers. maybe because there were several jobs on the same day? I'm disappointed and waited a bit before writing this. Thw owner is a nice guy but I don't trust his crew. I'm considering filing a claim with my insurance for the broken furniture. My move planning started out great all up until the movers showed up 30 minutes early, and the rest went downhill. They were not aware of me paying for packing and moving. They came in the home and just said, "Where do you want us to start?" They began just taking stuff out to the truck. When I paused them is when they first heard they would be packing and moving. I was told they would have plenty of tape and bubble wrap when arriving and as well they are good at packing. I never saw either, but instead, they used up all of my personal materials. The movers informed me they were told I was moved ready and that this happens often to them being misled. We all began packing. Yes, I helped as well to help and speed up things. 90% of my things made if on the same size truck that packed my things from the mainland, so it was a bit boggling because I had the same stuff. On the mainland, the truck still had space, but this one didn't cause a 2nd trip that the owner did not charge extra for on. I got to the new space, and the movers were not there. They took lunch and arrived 30-45 minutes later. They began moving my things in the home. Several boxes came loose because they did not secure them at the bottom. They dropped my Ottoman coffee table. Less to say it was a total mess. When we got back to my old place they asked if I wanted them to do the kitchen still and I informed them I did not have anymore boxes and would have to go to Lowes less than a mile away. As I'm leaving Lowes, I get a call that the movers called the owner and said they were just sitting. But all my stuff that was left outside from the 1st trip was still outside. The movers told me the shed had locked, and this was not true. But to keep from being charged more, I had them just take what they had to drop off. This was by far my worst move, especially for paying $1500. It was very unprofessional and messy. I'm still musseling through everything a month later. It is sad that when I expressed this to the owner and his assistant manager, I will definitely need help packing and moving. I also told them I would do as much I could before they came to help in cutting down the hours and cost. The manager did apologize for sending new movers and not well trained ones but provided no compensation or anything that could help alleviate my distress and the mess I'm left with now. It's sad a same job at home took them 4 1/2 hours to pack and move my stuff on the truck and only 1 hour to unpack my stuff off the truck along with opening and emptying a few boxes. Whereas, Ewa moving company, it took an entire work day 8 hours +. Now I'm hiring new movers to move my bed and a few other items that were not placed in my room from new carpet being put in. Along with having them pack a few things and moving a few things around for us to help us in better unpacking with some organization. I will not say I do not recommend them because the owner is nice, but if you do, ensure you have well trained and not new inexperienced movers. read more

I contacted several other moving companies for a fairly simple job. Move washer & dryer from 1 location to another. All of them except Ewa gave me a base quote of $365 +. Instead - the person I spoke with moved with integrity & referred me to someone who does smaller jobs such as ours. Everything worked out beautifully. I do not recommend using the Ewa Moving Company because they are unreliable and lack integrity. I made an appointment with the business owner to perform a walkthrough of my home on Friday, 23 July, at 9am. I set the appointment a week in advance which would allow both the owner and myself ample time to coordinate and plan ahead. I took off from work on the 23rd because moving is a big priority to me. As 9:01am rolled around, I'm still waiting and no one showed up. I didn't receive a call or even a simple courtesy text message from the owner as to what happened. I reached out and contacted the owner, Martin C., and asked him if we were still on for the appointment? He said "yes" but but he would have to the push back the appointment time to 10:30am, at the earliest. He made no effort to contact the night before or the morning of the appointment to reschedule the time. I was stood up. I was very disappointed. I had planned my entire week around this walkthrough to ensure that my house was ready for the inspection. I took his time seriously and made sure I was available for him and his team. Had I known he was not going to take my time seriously, I could have used my day off to book with another company for a walkthrough. It would have been common courtesy for Martin, as the business owner, to reach out to me first and let me know he was running late - and not the other way around. I have lost all trust in doing any other business with Martin and his company. It was a real let down to be stood up and I can't invest any more time in a company that misses appointments (made a week in advance). Out of all the moving companies I researched, I highly considered doing business with Ewa Moving Company, but it was the total disregard of respect toward my time that was truly unprofessional for me. read more

Scheduling an appointment was quick & simple. Two weeks out from our move I called Ewa Moving Co., & Martin answered right away. Anytime we had a question he was very responsive & friendly, either answering right away or calling back promptly. On the day of our move the movers gave a courtesy call when they were on their way & arrived on time. Both movers were down to earth, efficient, & worked together wonderfully as a team. They wrapped & handled bulky & fragile items with care. Including Hubby's 86 inch prized possession TV (even maneuvered it in & out of an elevator to complete the move). From start to finish our move only took 3hrs! - that's including an approx 30 min drive & all the unloading & reloading it took to get all items into a high rise condo. Grateful to have Ewa Moving Co. to help with my move. Had some very bulky furniture to move, such as the dining table (with glass), chairs and a China hutch. These items were real wood, so they were pretty heavy and lots of glass. These items had to be pretty well kept when moving and maneuvering. Shout out to Jah and Keola! After my original review, the Owner got in touch with me and went over everything that happened with my move and the issues of both of us using Hire A Helper as a third party contractor. The issues were all over the place my lack of knowledge and lack or communication between all parties. I think this was a huge learning process for both Ewa Moving Company and myself. They have reached out to try and help with damages. Long story short the original communication fell through and Ewa Moving Company and I have come to terms with both of our errors. I would suggest you hire them directly so that they can educate you on how things are supposed to be handled something Hire A Helper did not communicate. read more

The three guys from Ewa who moved our stuff were efficient and friendly and careful. They worked as quick as they could given limited, and restrictive circumstances at both the pick up and the drop off locations. They never complained, they got all my stuff to where it needed to go, and in one piece. I live with my mom who can't move anything so it was great to put everything in the movers hands. They wrapped fragile pieces and protected wood finishes. So far so good on responsiveness. I'll update after the move but very professional discussions with details and estimate. Martin is a great communicator. Ok Move completed, I hired them to move all the furniture which they wrapped in plastic then blankets to protect the items. The workers were very efficient and personable. They did an excellent job, arrived on time and finished in the estimated time to the tee! Which is nice considering we had some hurdles of unexpected delays at the old place at 2440 Kuhio Ave. The management I've known for 18 years and they were excellent however with Hy's Steakhouse on the first floor we had a delay due to their produce delivery truck in the way. But once that was moved all went well and to plan. They also didn't charge for the delay. I highly recommend Ewa Moving Company and would use them again, though I hope not to be moving for at least another 18 or more years. read more

Some had quotes, some not available but when trying to just call and talk to someone to just quote and book they were the only ones that actually answered the phone!! Then everything else was easy signing and paying via email. Amazing! First off our elevator in our old apartment was down for upgrades!! So it was a no brainer we had to hire movers. We did 3 movers who managed to carry and wheel the dolly down one flight of stairs across the courtyard and then up another flight of stairs. Title: A good business operated by a young owner who cares about his customers. Lots of attention to detail and team did a good job overall. Will do business again. Highly recommended! Pro: Owner and staff paid lots of attention to detail with regards to my move. They listened to what I asked for, and responded. Cons: Like any business, there is always room for improvement, but I am sure the owner will look into ways to run his operation better. I spent the last 2 weekends with 2 different moving companies moving out of my apartment. The first weekend I had 2 of my 3 bedrooms emptied and had their contents moved to storage. I was planning to used the same mover again if they did their job right. Oh boy, was I disappointed with that first company i worked with. They punched a hole in my $2000 king sized mattress when trying to force its way up a flight of stairs when there was an elevator right next to the stairs. I complained to the owner but all I got was name calling and blaming the accident on other things instead of facing the problem head-on. At the end, they made me one angry customer. Ewa Moving was totally different. I told Martin about how important it was to keep my furniture in pristine condition, and then he came to my home to understand what his movers were going to deal with. Then the movers came and carefully packed/wrapped my stuff for the move. I didn't mind they were slowly wrapping because obviously the movers were spending time to not cause damage to my furniture. Same as the previous weekend, the move did cause some damage to my furniture. I am not sure if the damage was unavoidable as I am not sure what happened, but this is where the similarities between the 2 moving companies ended. Martin called and "apologized" for what happened. He tried hard to find ways to make his customer feel right, and he did. It is easy to start a company with some money in hand. To survive and to excel require something totally different. I am confident Martin and his team will do well in this space! read more
