They pretty much told us you have older floors and I won't charge you for messing up your floors. We don't have any planks to replace the floors since we bought the place like with these floors. We called the people who we bought the sofa sleeper from and they said they will refund us the deliver. Wow just like that they both don't care. I told him what would you think if someone came into your house and told you that your house is older and btw sorry for arching your floors but it was from the cardboard box it's just a stain. You can clean it. So wrong I would never recommend them. Oh the employee was much better that the move than the owner I was there. After they moved it it he asked should we take cut the box the owner said naw we don't need to. He then proceeded to move and scratch our floors. The employee asked to wash his hands before he touched our sofa and the owner didn't. That tells you that he doesn't care in many different ways. They may not etched your floors but do you want to take that chance? Oh yes we have called to resolve this and no calls back. They don't have insurance either.

I had several issues with this company. Do not waste your time or money…read more Context: We need to repaint our home due to HOA requirements, and I reached out to 9 contractors across Oahu, including Handy Andy. 1/ They were the ONLY ones to charge a fee for an "on-site visit," i.e., just viewing our property and drafting an estimate. The charge was $175 and was "applied as credit" for the job; otherwise, if we don't move forward with them, it would be non-refundable, which is already a scam because of problem number 2. 2/ Between the 9 contractors, the quotes for the SAME painting job of our house I received were between the range of $6100 to $7800 AND exactly one at $16,073. Handy Andy quoted nearly DOUBLE what every single licensed painting contractor and company I reached out to is charging as of 2026. They articulated in their quote that they would try and price match any licensed contractor, but why would we trust them when they are so far from the average, and they are not transparent about what paint they're using, which would help us discern the quality? (see number 4) So now they keep the $175 for stopping by our house for 10 minutes, because there would be no way we would go with them after doing our research. I will note that I understand gas can be expensive, so I would not have minded paying a smaller fee for the trip to subsidize that cost, despite no one else charging us, but there is no way it cost $175 to send their intern (see item number 5). 3/ Every single contractor except for Handy Andy included minor wood repairs, chips, etc within the total cost, still not exceeding $8000, which was not the case and came at an additional cost to us. 4/ Every single contractor, within their quote, provided the exact paint they were planning to use, which helped us discern the quality of paint (For reference, the highest tier, the Ultra Premium option from Sherwin-Williams Rain Refresh, was quoted at $7400 in total for us), but Handy Andy did not include this information in their quote which would directly help us understand the value of what we are paying for. 5/ For the onsite visit (which they had to postpone for the following day after I had already changed my plans to accommodate their timing), every single company/contractor I called, the person who was either going to paint the house, owned the company or be part of the team that was going to paint showed up... except for Handy Andy. This young individual showed up to do the assessment. He said he was their scout and would not do any part of the actual paint and repair job. I asked him basic questions about priming and caulking, and brought up questions and concerns, particularly moisture treating, because Oahu is obviously very hot and humid, and he was unable to answer, often saying, "I'm not sure I know what that is, but I will get back to you." Considering I paid $175 for this individual, I would expect him to know the basic requirements of homes here. Overall, my husband and I are very upset that we spent $175 just to get a quote that was double the going rate on the island, and we feel like we were scammed. Don't waste your time!

It pays to be flexible!! Dave showed up got straight to work. Removed old fan/light combo installed my new fan/light with remote control. (It's a plus!! ) In less than an hour!! My tall son had to help him hold the fan up in place to screw in. Some jobs need extra hands, no problem. Dave also replaced the broken fan blade in my living room, no charge!! Pros: Knowledgeable and very reasonable. Came with a can-do attitude. Cons: Not an issue with me, I had to clean up area. Just mentioning time and cleaning just in case someone expects more!! For me I am 100% satisfied. Especially when another company quoted me $700 to install the fan. Ridiculously shameful! Would I use Handiman Dave again.. Definitely Do I recommend Handiman Dave. 100% and he is backed by Yelp. Tell Dave Ann from Kapolei recommended him.

All I have to say is, "You get what you pay for." I'm being fair with 3 stars because he definitely did the job he was hired to do, but at the same time, with his experience, he didn't consider or suggest making the installation water tight. I do remember him commenting that there was caulking all throughout the outside wall around the AC unit. He said that was overkill and it wasn't necessary. The AC unit that was removed was bigger than the new one, so the hole left was quite big. It was good while I didn't live in the condo while I had work done, as well as it not raining as much since it was Summer. but then a few weeks ago, my wife and I started to notice water damage to our laminate flooring, which appeared to spread from the AC as the source. Top it off, a neighbor above had a fast leaking AC unit, which was also dripping water into this hole. After having hired another handyman to fix the job just this past Friday, this new handyman confirmed that the hole that was left open allowed rain to penetrate into the open section to the left of the AC, which allowed for water to pool and build up in the wall, which eventually spread beneath the floor. Quite disappointing, as anyone could imagine since now I have to hire a contractor to find flooring that will match my existing floors, rip out my newly installed expensive baseboards and the damaged flooring to fix everything because I wanted to save about $150.. I'm not in anyway trying to deter anyone from hiring Dave. I'm sure he is competent, but just think for yourself at times and question what is right and wrong. Especially if you see that something is done or set up a certain way in your home, make sure you have him fully inspect and determine if shortcuts are okay.

They responded to my inquiry right away with detailed information, which gave me confidence in choosing them. Jane was wonderful to work with when scheduling my move. On moving day, Albert, Kirk, and Leland were kind, professional, and hardworking. There was a small issue at my building in the beginning, but they were patient and understanding while everything was sorted out. I had several large and fragile pieces of furniture, and they handled everything with great care. They also made an additional stop at my storage unit and organized everything so neatly. Moving is stressful, but these three men made the experience so much easier and took a huge weight off my shoulders. I didn't even have a Yelp account before this and I actually created one just so I could leave them the positive review they deserve. I also didn't have cash to tip them that day, so I called Jane afterward to add a tip to my credit card. I truly hope Albert, Kirk, and Leland receive it because they absolutely earned it. I've dealt with another moving company in the past where I suspected some jewelry went missing. They are the quickest at responses, very reasonable pricing, flexible with their schedules, all in all I am very satisfied and have asked them to move another thing for me as well. 10/10 recommend. You could say I have a lot of experience with movers as I inherited my father's personally woodworked furniture which added to my own collection that he made for me. I have a lot of sentimental (and heavy) stuff plus I have a herniated disc, so moving is even more overwhelming. And moving every year for so long has been so much less than ideal. I had a go-to mover but they didn't reply when I reached out so I figured I would try someone new out bc, maybe I can have options. Incredibly, Making Moves packed everything much more thoroughly and somehow the move seemed shorter...?! Even accounting for the shorter distance, this move was seriously fast but not lacking one bit in caution. And here is the kicker, it was less expensive too and the team was bigger. I still love the other mover but this team has beyond proved itself so I guess this is my first choice mover now. Treat this team right. They are in demand for a reason.

The second move involved coming the day before to pack up our kitchen, then moving our apartment furniture and packed boxes into our new house. Before the moves, Alfredo came over to assess how much stuff we had and then gave us a quote that was competitive and reflected the actual cost of the move. He had 4 guys do the move -- it's much cheaper to have more guys because they do the move faster and you spend less money. They guys were all very respectful and sweet. Both moves happened fast and efficiently and all our items were moved with great care. Nothing was broken or scratched and the guys remove their shoes before coming in the house. I will absolutely be using Alfredo and his team for all my future moving needs.

The Pros: * They were flexible with timing. * They quickly disassembled and assembled my desk. * They were willing to work past their standard service hours, staying until 9:30 PM to finish the job. The Cons: * Extreme Disrespect: Despite specifically hiring and paying for packing services, we overheard the crew complaining about having to pack. Even worse, they were caught calling me "incompetent" and saying I didn't know what I was doing while I was in my own home. We addressed it on the spot, but the atmosphere was incredibly hostile and soured the entire day. * Poor Workmanship: We had already pre-packed many of our own boxes, but the items they handled were treated with zero care. * Major Damages: The total cost of the move was $1,195 for 5+ hours of work. However, the day after the move, I discovered over $2,000 worth of items, some irreplaceable, were damaged due to their poor packing. While I appreciate that they stayed late until 9:30 PM to get the furniture moved, the verbal abuse and the destruction of my property made the "cheap" rate a total illusion. Bottom Line: My lesson was learned--don't go cheap. Between the insults and the $2k+ in damages, this was a bad experience. Do not use for FULL SERVICE.

The team was fantastic! Evan maintained timely communication with me from prior to booking all the way through the end of the move. They were flexible with scheduling, despite a couple of changes on my part. A box truck was provided - they were gentle and respectful of our belongings. Loading up one of those UPack relocubes, they successfully packed an entire one bedroom apartment in there (just barely fit!). The Movers got us moved out of our second floor unit (with about 40 more stairs to get to ground level) from Aliamanu to Waialua SO quickly and efficiently. They were visibly so careful with our things which I really appreciated. Super personable/kind people, communicative, punctual, flexible as well! If you use them, make sure you protect your own furniture by wrapping it well. This is the mistake I made. Also our tv was damaged, no cracked screen, we just have a vertical line during certain images on the left edge of the screen now. It was an expensive oled, we spent over 4k for it. They didn't use the box I purchased and assured me would be better out of the box. My fault for not insisting on using the box. Our tv stand suffered minor dings, like paint chips, I was able to cover it up with some touch up paint so no big deal. I would recommend them if you protect your own items well.

Considering it was 3 guys, a full truck, and a pretty big and long job as well as the fact that they never complained and were friendly the whole time I think that it was definitely worth what we paid. Call or email them to get a quote and they stick to it. There was even a point where we couldn't find our comic collection after we were pretty much done for the day but they went back to our storage unit with me to help me look for it and make sure we didn't lose it. My grandma doesn't speak much English but the language barrier proved no problem in the face of Ty and Brandon's kindness. Ty and Brandon were undoubtedly impressive. We had originally been planning on renting a UHaul from Pam (WSS) but I figured that this might be better since our move was from Waianae to Makiki. I contacted Hero and they called me back. . .I swear like 12 minutes later. I spoke to Jordan and received a rough quote, informing him that our move date was still fluid. A few weeks later we got our confirmation into the apartment and I actually communicated with Jordan through TEXT to sign the quote and make the final arrangements as I had gotten sick and lost my voice. That was VERY useful because it took a few days for my voice to come back. From Waianae to Makiki I was quoted under $1,500 to move furniture from the single bedroom we were in to a one bedroom apartment. Which might seem like a lot for 2 desks, 2 shelves, a bed and boxes but you need to remember that this is Waianae to Makiki. . . Anyway, 3 days before the move disaster struck! Our new landlord decided that they didn't want us there and they were going to keep the apartment empty in order to have an easier time selling the building in the future. With 72 hours notice I was able to contact Jordan and redirect our move from Makiki to our storage unit at Waikele Self Storage. What did Jordan say? "Yes we can!" No additional charges, no argument, no triggering some weird policy to make the process a pain, just a "Yeah, sure." Which was excellent in such a stressful situation. Moving day! Our crew was great. They packed random loose items fast, hauled furniture out quickly and safely, and were respectful in our home. They moved 5 large furniture items down a hall, a flight of stairs and down another hall without hitting a single wall, navigating long furniture items down our tight staircase with no damage. The people they sent, who gave us their names but my ADHD couldn't hold onto them, were approachable, friendly and thorough throughout the process and they were in and out quick. Once we got to WSS they helped us load everything into our unit, called their boss, their boss called me and everything was paid for. This was such an easy process from when I picked up the advertisement in the storage office to when we watched them drive away with our money. 10/10 service, I highly recommend Hero Moving.

When my things got here the crate, when unloaded, lots of my things fell to the ground. Glass was broken on pictures, things were hapazorardly thrown into other boxes. No inventory of boxes checked off. I have sent recipts and pictures of damage, which I was told to do. Several emails and no reponse. Tried to send recipts certified mail and it was sent back, address unknown. I am a single, disable, veteran woman and I would have expected more from them as they target miltary and veterans.
