I had several issues with this company. Do not waste your time or money. Context: We need to repaint our home due to HOA requirements, and I reached out to 9 contractors across Oahu, including Handy Andy. 1/ They were the ONLY ones to charge a fee for an "on-site visit," i.e., just viewing our property and drafting an estimate. The charge was $175 and was "applied as credit" for the job; otherwise, if we don't move forward with them, it would be non-refundable, which is already a scam because of problem number 2. 2/ Between the 9 contractors, the quotes for the SAME painting job of our house I received were between the range of $6100 to $7800 AND exactly one at $16,073. Handy Andy quoted nearly DOUBLE what every single licensed painting contractor and company I reached out to is charging as of 2026. They articulated in their quote that they would try and price match any licensed contractor, but why would we trust them when they are so far from the average, and they are not transparent about what paint they're using, which would help us discern the quality? (see number 4) So now they keep the $175 for stopping by our house for 10 minutes, because there would be no way we would go with them after doing our research. I will note that I understand gas can be expensive, so I would not have minded paying a smaller fee for the trip to subsidize that cost, despite no one else charging us, but there is no way it cost $175 to send their intern (see item number 5). 3/ Every single contractor except for Handy Andy included minor wood repairs, chips, etc within the total cost, still not exceeding $8000, which was not the case and came at an additional cost to us. 4/ Every single contractor, within their quote, provided the exact paint they were planning to use, which helped us discern the quality of paint (For reference, the highest tier, the Ultra Premium option from Sherwin-Williams Rain Refresh, was quoted at $7400 in total for us), but Handy Andy did not include this information in their quote which would directly help us understand the value of what we are paying for. 5/ For the onsite visit (which they had to postpone for the following day after I had already changed my plans to accommodate their timing), every single company/contractor I called, the person who was either going to paint the house, owned the company or be part of the team that was going to paint showed up... except for Handy Andy. This young individual showed up to do the assessment. He said he was their scout and would not do any part of the actual paint and repair job. I asked him basic questions about priming and caulking, and brought up questions and concerns, particularly moisture treating, because Oahu is obviously very hot and humid, and he was unable to answer, often saying, "I'm not sure I know what that is, but I will get back to you." Considering I paid $175 for this individual, I would expect him to know the basic requirements of homes here. Overall, my husband and I are very upset that we spent $175 just to get a quote that was double the going rate on the island, and we feel like we were scammed. Don't waste your time! read more

Well one week later and I still haven't heard a thing! Maybe they didn't want the job, maybe they're super busy. Upon my return to my condo, I noticed a sporadic drip from the bathroom faucet. Decided to watch it as I moved back. It slowly got worse in a week or two, and the faucet slowly got worse. I asked the residence manager for a recommendation, and his referral did not return my calls in a week. Finally decided to Yelp it and found a couple of plumbing services. Decided to try Handy Andy first. I got a response to my query very quickly, and asked for my contact information and photos of the affected areas. A few days after, the jobber called to go over the specifics of the job. I wanted to replace both the kitchen & bathroom sink faucets and convert them to one touch models. The jobber also mentioned that my bathroom pipes looked pretty bad, so their replacement was also included. I got the option of scheduling the repair on the weekend so I didn't have to take off from work - good deal. The day of, I got a call a little earlier than the appointment time that the handyman (Andy) was downstairs- guess there's a benefit of scheduling it on Sunday mid-morning- traffic usually isn't bad. There was a snafu when he expected me to have provided the replacement faucets, but Andy went out to pick them up from a commercial dealer- pretty quick. In the meantime, he got my quote details straightened out the faucets were supposed to have been provided by them. Andy got to work and in a couple of hours later I had operable and updated faucets. The billing was taken care electronically and he got on his way. A good little lesson on double-checking on the quote and great looking faucets! I will keep them in mind for future repairs! Submitted my initial quote request on 9/13 with an amazingly quick response to discuss what services I needed. The lady that I spoke to got my service needs and promised to get a quote out that day. When asked how long it would take for someone to come out she said it likely would be the beginning part of next week. Perfect! I didn't receive my quote from Handy Andy that day/night and since my issue was getting worse and now I risk having much bigger issues, I sent a follow up Yelp message the very next day responding to our conversation letting them know I never received the quote they promised. 1 full week later, there has still been no response from the initial quick response to my inquiry and my 2nd follow up. Maybe someone dropped the ball twice on their end, or maybe they thought my job was too small to send someone out which in that case they should tell you up front rather than say they can do it and never get back to you. I ended up calling another plumber who was fantastic. Told me estimated costs, and scheduled someone to be there in 2 days. None of this empty promises and no follow up responses like Handy Andy. I will highly recommend that if you need handy man type of help, stick with established companies with more experience and professionalism than this new company, Handy Andy. read more

Although I ended up going with another painter due to their high pricing, I was very impressed with the Handy Andy team from the get go. Making an appointment was quick and easy over the phone. The dispatcher who I booked the appointment with, sent an Estimator to take measurements to give a quote. We received the estimate the same day, literally hours after the Estimator came by. My pantry shelves were picked up from Home Depot and installed in my home that same week. The job itself took less than an hour. Handy Andy hires predominantly Veterans, so hiring Handy Andy is a great way to support our Veterans. I have a business and had minor work to be done that included removal of carpeting and dry wall patch they already charge more then i was expecting well my philosophy is you get what you pay for... not with this company they came in told me it would be done within a day after running into some obstacles which happens they told me they would be done in a few more days. That turned into two weeks with no communication from them no one showing up and the work is still not done and I refused to have them finish and I have yet heard back from management. I was present for the first time they came out, nearly an hour past the time that was agreed upon. It was a simple kitchen faucet replacement that should have cost less than $100, but they told us it would be more than $250. Solid Handy Men are hard to find so happy to say I had a great experience with these guys from start to finish. Requested a quote to get some lighting installed for my workplace warehouse. Got a response within a few hours from Nathan who arranged to send Matteo to assess the area. We had an idea in mind of what we wanted but Matteo was really great about offering multiple solutions that made better sense for LOWER costs. Who does that now-a-days??? Nathan was able to get us on his schedule in a time frame that was convenient for us. Jordan arrived to do the lighting (gave me a heads-up call 30 minutes prior to his arrival which was greatly appreciated). He knocked out the warehouse lighting in less than an hour. He was also able to switch out 2 additional light fixtures for me for a very nominal cost. Nathan, Matteo and Jordan were all very knowledgeable (these guys know their stuff). Initially received a quote to install 4 interior prehung doors for $580 site unseen, I signed the estimate, payed the deposit. A technician came over and assessed the work to be done. Never got an updated quote, so assumed the the original quote was accurate. Ordered the doors from Home Depot. Fast forward 8 weeks, the technician was supposed to pick up the doors from home depot at 8 am, arrive at our house by 9 am and complete the job. Received a calling saying technician is having trouble picking up doors, home depot saying they don't have our order AND, 'OH, BY THE WAY.... Their worker put the wrong paint on the walls. The floor subcontractor did not do the subflooring and the floor failed within one year, needing replacement. I've used this company multiple times in the past with NO problem. Great quality work, money supports Vets, and friendly staff. Unfortunately, I am forced to find help elsewhere (Keep in mind, this was 5 STARS before). Their process from service request to service completion is inefficient and flawed, which left me with a problem for nearly 3.5 months. Also, I decided to leave this review because I literally reached out to them FOUR times because of various errors on the invoice and lack of call back regarding upcoming services. (I am known to be patient among my peers - FOUR TIMES though - the limit has been tested.) As for my experience, I contacted them via Yelp and email first. After providing some info, a sales rep would call the next day and ask the same questions that I gave already! How redundant...it seems they have different departments that are not connected well... So after the sales rep, they sent an invoice with my name and address incorrectly spelled...Had to yelp message, email x 2, and call them TWICE before the corrections were made...Since 9/2018, I've managed to get two out of the three services I needed... While someone did reach out later (after my 4th time calling and mentioning this problem, it was far too late. This was a bad experience. My window AC unit leaked inside my drywall and I called for a quote. The estimator came out and said I'd get a quote by the end of the day. That didn't happen. The next day I called and I get an email with a quote saying quotes over $2000 require a deposit. Even though my quote was for $800, they still wanted a 50% deposit. When I called the girl that answered told me everyone was busy and someone will call me back. Another day later I get an email that the deposit is now $150 but they still can't tell me a schedule on when the work will be done until I pay. Not a good company or process on having work done. We had water build up under our kitchen sink and I thought it was because there wasn't a good seal between the marble countertop and stainless steel sink. I requested a quote from Handy Andy and the appraiser who checked it out said the leak was from the garbage disposal. When the actual repairman (Troy) arrived he said the garbage disposal screws were loose and needed to be tightened, if we had any more issues just give them a call. I used Handy Andy to repair a dilapitated pergola in my back yard. First let me say that the company responded very quickly when I first inquired about an estimate...I LOVED THAT!!! I decided to try Handy Andy. After many other local unreliable workers over the years, I am very impressed by the courteous, on time when promised, and clean all the workers are. They all work as a team, all in contact with other teams and if needed, come to assist in times when the job hasn't gone as originally planned. My conclusion is that this company does good work at a fair price. I received prompt and reasonable quotes for each job (which included purchase of the appliances). Another company sent a non-itemized quote that was 40% higher! Handy Andy has experienced handymen mentoring novices - a great model to give people the opportunity to develop skills. I especially want to commend Joe for going the extra mile to stop the toilet from leaking. This was an unusual problem that required 3 visits to resolve. Joe was diligent in getting the job done, even checking things on his day off. However, when I called to schedule a repair for a toilet, I was told that I would be receiving an call back shortly. I never received a phone call. I waited for a couple hours, then about 2 days to hear back (I really wanted to support our vets!). There's only one toilet in my apartment & I was forced to stay at my parents house or drive to a nearby public restroom for the days I waited for a call. I am not the most handy when it comes to installing things around the house. I bought several rubbermaid closet organizers. I began the process by removing the old closet rack. Big mistake. Managed to only make the holes in the drywall bigger. I then decided i was going to try and install one of the closet systems i bought. Another mistake, not confident enough to know what i was doing, so I called Handy Andy. I got an appointment a week later. Bryce was running a little late, but had the courtesy to give me a call 10 minutes before my appointment to let me know he was running late. he came and installed two of the systems that i requested, and was done in a couple of hours.
