He looked around at my custom Koa furniture and told me he would personalize the packing for our special pieces. Larry offered his guys to help my family finishing overall packing because he observed we were coming close to our date. Hire Larry and his crew, give them time to take a look, and relax. They take apart your big items as needed (beds and such) and out them back together no problem. Larry kept forgetting the time we agreed upon, the place I lived, and where I was moving to. I had a good experience with him a year ago when he provided 4 guys who did a great job for $400, which is why I came back to him. This time it was just him and a rookie. He rushed me and refused to complete the job even though there was plenty of room on the truck (lots of stuff still at my old place). On top of that, he decided to run personal errands half way through the move and made me sit on my ass for an hour. I also ended up being part of the team with lifting and moving stuff onto/off the truck. Why pay so much if I'm doing a third of the work myself? I paid $520 this time... More than 25% extra for a team half the size, and they didn't even finish the job. Larry seriously sucks. Makes me wonder if Kamaaina Movers are affiliated with the Miske enterprise of organized crime (Kamaaina Termite). It's either that, or these guys are genuinely really bad at what they do. If you need movers, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Kamaaina Movers. They are very responsive on Yelp messaging. After getting quotes from about 6 different companies, Kamaaina had the best rate. They don't have a lot of extra charges for random things. Just a flat rate by the hour. They did a phone consult to estimate the time and cost. You can cancel without a problem up to a few days before the move. They checked in a few days before to confirm time and details and they're very nice. Day of the move, they were on time and ready to jam. We had 2 bedrooms, a living room, and a kitchen worth of stuff. They got it loaded in the truck in less than an hour. My new place had several staircases to navigate. They estimated the job would take 5 hours and they were done in 2.6 hours, saving me hundreds of dollars. Everything got here safely and in tact and they came with all kinds of blankets, wraps, straps, and rubber bands to help keep my stuff secure. My parents had some furniture they were giving to my cousin in Hawaii Kai. But because the items were big and bulky, we needed to hire movers. Trying to find a moving company had been difficult. The big companies don't have availabilities and smaller local movers are a hit or miss. We are so fortunate that Kama'aina Movers were a hit! The day of the move, we got a text 30 minutes before they were to arrive (at 8am) confirming their arrival time. Then they arrived exactly at 8am. Larry and his crew were so polite, courteous, conscientious, and super friendly. The entire crew wore masks (which made us feel super comfortable as my mother has health issues) and they took their shoes off when entering the home. They had to pack up and move 2 bedroom sets (which they disassembled and labeled so they could reassemble), a large rosewood desk and chair, barstools and other misc household items. Everything was wrapped up to protect the items during transport. They were done under an hour and a half. And then they delivered the items to my cousin in Hawaii Kai. He said the movers were great, friendly, fast and efficient. He really appreciated that they were able to move the big items upstairs (the stairway is narrow and awkward). But made the move with no hiccups. He was really impressed. Larry and his crew made this moving experience stress free. We are so grateful to him and his crew.
