Island Movers delivering to Volcano, HI June 2026 Excellent Job. The Driver was very cooperative, respectful and friendly. This was a delivery from Home Depot Hilo. It involved three pallets of windows. I checked out the items at HD to get size measurements to figure out where to store the load At our house. I explained the tight single lane road approach to our driveway requiring a certain sized truck. I made contact with the driver on the road at my driveway. We discussed the way to move the truck and fork lift. Long story short, the whole unloading operation was perfect. Fitting the pallets into the storage structure was tight, but uneventful. The driver was great! I would have them deliver to my house anytime. read more

Update Part II Home Depot rectified the issue promptly. They scheduled an appointment to ensure that my patio set was loaded onto the correct truck. The employees were friendly and took the time to bring the patio set to my condo. Outstanding service!!! My dad's refrigerator crapped out, so Thursday night I rushed on down to Home Depot to purchase a new refrigerator for my dad. Upon paying & doing the paperwork for the delivery of the refrigerator, I told Kayli - the Home Depot clerk that there was 45 stairs inorder to get the refrigerator up to the house. On the bright side of having 45 stairs, there were also 3 landings should the movers get tired and need a break while carrying up the refrigerator. To speed up the delivery of the new refrigerator, I decided to remove the old refrigerator from our house before the movers showed up, that way the refrigerator space would be cleared, and the old refrigerator could be picked up quickly, and removed. I found out that removing the old refrigerator from my house a wee bit tricky, as I had to remove both the freezer, & refrigerator doors in order to get the refrigerator out of the doorway of our house. When the movers showed up with my new refrigerator, I told the movers that they will probably need to take off both the freezer & refrigerator doors in order to get the new refrigerator into the house. I found both "Bruddah's" who came to my house to be very courteous & accommodating. Da Bruddah's easily carried up the new refrigerator on a mover's dolly & got the refrigerator up to the house with ease. The movers also had power tools, so they were able to quickly remove both the refrigerator doors to get the new refrigerator into the house. Upon finishing up the job, they took a pic, & had me electronically sign the paperwork. Much MAHALO, Island Movers! Terrible delivery experience with Island Movers through Costco. The driver showed up late and immediately said he was not delivering the refrigerator. They refused to even attempt bringing it upstairs or moving it off the dolly. One worker admitted it could probably be done, but the driver completely refused to help move or lift it at all. I even offered to sign a waiver , like their boss said to do ,and they still refused. He was rude and dismissive, refused to perform work that was clearly part of the delivery service, and told me to do it myself. He also provided incorrect information about the installation and left without completing the job, claiming he was "out of time." Given the level of service provided, there was absolutely no value in what I paid for. This experience directly caused an unresolved delivery issue with Home Depot. Great delivery service from Island Movers! We purchased a new king mattress and bed frame from Mattress Firm and Island Movers brought it up to our condo and assembled it, then hauled away our old mattress and box spring. King mattresses are bulky and heavy and floppy, but these guys carefully navigated ours out of the truck, through our lobby, into the elevator and then into our apartment. I was impressed with their focused teamwork and how careful they were about keeping the mattress undamaged while moving it through the surrounding property. They also efficiently assembled our bed frame and made sure our new bed was the right height off the floor for us. When everything was done they carefully took away the old mattress and box spring and any packing materials. We were amazed at how smoothly everything went. The movers were courteous and professional. They also arrived at the time expected. If we ever need a moving company, we will definitely hire Island Movers. read more

I witnessed a very concerning interaction involving the Island Movers delivery lead guy this afternoon. I arrived at my client's property today as Island Movers delivered heavy doors purchased through Home Depot. As I walked onto the property, I heard the delivery lead guy raising his voice and confrontational at my client with a horrible cocky attitude. My client is a kind, calm and respectful. His tone to her was loud, rude and confrontational talking over us and repeating his words without letting us talk much! He stated that he did not know what was being delivered and that it was "not his job" or "his problem" to know what the items were. He said his name was Steve (missing teeth-so easy identify), and that's al we knew without a purchase invoice. He further barked rudely that he had no knowledge of the purchase order or the items but to sign! There were missing items but he didn't care to try to help determine if it's on his truck, or wasn't loading on his truck. He said he was in a rush and that's not his job. He repeatedly emphasized that his only responsibility was to deliver whatever was loaded onto his truck, regardless of accuracy or condition, but wouldn't let us see inside the truck to see if perhaps something was missing. I tried to help my client look at the items, again, the driver 'Steve' didn't care and kept following us and talking loud over us with his puffed up chest (again, the other guys still stayed hidden in the truck cab of the truck embarrassed at Steve). The interaction was shocking, unprofessional, and unnecessary, especially given that my client was polite and simply trying to understand her delivery. I tried to ask Steve to calm down but he didn't care. Being someone born and raised on Oʻahu who respects kindness and professionalism, this experience was shocking and deeply disappointing. In addition, Steve initially left the doors leaning directly against the front of the home open to the elements and he wouldn't move it to the covered lanai. Despite visible rain approaching, he showed no concern and refused to walk an additional 20 feet to place the doors safely under the side lanai for protection. The other kind delivery guy walked around and moved the doors delivered under the lanai (which was appreciated), and Steve scolded him and said it wasn't their job. In my line of work, I regularly interact with delivery teams from Lowe's, Home Depot, and numerous other vendors over 25 years. I have never met such attitude. My client also said the same! I'm sure if 'Steve's' mother was treated this way, or if we were men, 'Steve' would have a much different attitude and a more level demeanor. This behavior was his nature of easily and obviously being a punk to smaller people. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I called the office to talk to the supervisor, but no return call. My client also called.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] To everyone that reads this, including the owner of Island Movers, this is not Hawai'i, and basic common courtesy, customer service and kindness and Aloha. This had NOTHING to do with Home Depot or what they were delivering, it was only regarding the VERY tough-guy rude attitude of Steve, and with the quality of care with Island Movers. I will warn that home deopt does not mention that their "haul away" fee means that the workers will not touch your item if it is still hooked up/plugged in. Along with the many other customers, I too had some of my belongings stolen from Island Movers. I purchased a mattress through Mattress Firm who unfortunately schedules deliveries with Island Movers. Before they arrived I had washed my hands and took two of my rings off and left them on the counter in my bathroom. The last guy to come up ( I'm assuming the driver) asked to use my bathroom before leaving. After they had left my apartment I went into my bathroom and no longer saw my rings there. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The "dispatcher" was rude and extremely unhelpful telling me it was a "he said she said" and even asked if I saw him take the rings from the bathroom.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Why would I go into the bathroom with a grown man? I wasn't expecting to have my belongings stolen from me. I'm shocked the way they reacted knowing that there are multiple reviews on Yelp saying that customers have had things stolen from them in the past. This place needs to hire a new crew or just shut it down. Please consider other options before hiring this moving company or just make sure to lock up all of your valuables. First before moving the load they had left five of our boxes outside near the elevator of the storage place where our things were being held. Second it took forever for our shipment to get to us because they sent it from the LA port it was supposed to be delivered to, too Chicago delaying our delivery by a few months. Third they deliver me my tv with huge crack across the screen. The delivery guy who was unwrapping our load told us that the tv they had broken was covered because they were the ones who wrapped it. After sending a claim over to the company and waiting for over a month to hear back from them, they quote me $22.80 for the broken tv that costs over $1100.00. They said it's covered $0.60 per pound of what was destroyed. This is unbelievable, if I had known they would pack my tv with nothing wrapped around it other than flimsy brown wrapping paper I'd have wrapped it myself in towels and bubble wrap. I wouldn't trust this company with anything you consider to be of value, your better off selling your things than taking a chance with them. I wouldn't doubt that they'll destroy something important to you when they ship it out. Ps when they say it's already covered they mean they'll pay you $0.60 per pound of what was broken. Don't believe them when they say to initial off on something and ask questions about it all no matter how fast they try to rush over everything with you. Also when told the General Manager Chris Tunoa would call and speak to me on the issue I only ever got contacted by people under him who don't listen to concerns and only repeated the same thing over and over, because it was initialed it was understood what coverage was given when obviously it wasn't explained. read more

Ordered a TV through Costco and Island Movers was the contracted delivery company. When they arrived for delivery, the driver stayed in the truck and one person got out to carry the 75" TV. The delivery person dragged the TV down the stairs in our home permanently damaging the laminate. I definitely wouldn't hire island movers if I had a choice, but unfortunately this is who Costco works with for their deliveries. read more

Rain or shine... today was the second time this contracted company delivered an item we purchased from Sears. Full of smiles, three men arrived with our new highly anticipated refrigerator. So excited I heard part of the instructions for cooling the freezer to recommended temperatures and not to use 2-3 gallons of water to clear the line. Also dump the first batch of ice. I didn't have to say a thing, they removed their shoes, carefully moved our fridge in the front door and into the arched doorway of the kitchen. Was worried about marks on the new light floor but these men are experts using great care and caution. The first man did the paperwork and hooked up the new water kit. The other two men were so tall, brought it in and removed the protective covering on both doors. These uncles loved our fur baby and the feeling was mutual. Don't recommend. They packed the truck so poorly - the worst I have ever seen. I have moved every three years for 32 years, quite familiar with the process. The movers took long breaks and worked extremely slow. Moving is stressful enough without having mover who hate their job. Island Movers handled our move to the mainland (east coast) from Makiki in May/June 2024. Initially there was some confusion with the quote as another person's belonging ended up on our inventory list, but it was corrected and we proceeded from there. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They were responsive to questions, and arrived on time to pick up our items.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] On the mainland side, the local company they contracted with gave us a day/time for our delivery, and were prompt and efficient with the unloading, though they did charge us a small amount ($90) for delivery of goods to the second floor with no elevator. Bought a stacking washer dryer from Home Depot and Island Movers delivered it. They didn't even want to move my old stacking washer dryer until I kept saying "Aren't you going to at least bring it out?" They were going to just leave it in my laundry room! While they were bring my new stacking washer dryer to my laundry room, they over compensated the slope in my driveway and lost the balance of the unit and it fell sideways onto the ground! It barely fit through the door, but they didn't even want to keep trying, and were just going to leave it outside my laundry room door!! I kept saying "It will fit! Try again!" And yes, it did go through the doorway! The workers that came was a taller Asian looking guy and a younger local guy. Both struggled with my unit. Can you imagine if it was a large refrigerator?! They wouldn't be able to handle and would give up! So I got $150 discount from Home Depot for my dented unit. Thank goodness it still worked! I know most people would reject the delivery because it was dropped, but for me, as long as it worked, and I got compensated for their lousy delivery, I was fine. As for these 2 Island Mover delivery guys, they were terrible!! Especially the main guy! He was rude, grumpy and didn't want to be helpful! Younger guy was just a worker and did his job. We've bought all our kitchen appliances from Home Depot, and our refrigerator was THEE TOUGHEST to bring into the house! The guys that delivered and brought it in were professional and knew what they were doing, but that was many years ago, and not sure who the moving company was back then. read more

These guys are the best crew at Island Movers (Mikey, Head guy and sharp... Charles, highly experienced and fast, Dane, helper and learning the ropes). We were up against a storm and had to reschedule, but days later...the storm popped back. But these guys moved boxes (50+) to the elevators and down into lobby to quickly load truck. The big furniture were moved in two heavy pieces and moved outside the door on wheels waiting for transport into lobby area. My building manager was trying to tell me how he wanted things. They blew him away with their speed, organization, and efficiency ...get out the way!!! Everything was out and onto next destination and ready to place items where I wanted in new apartment. Unbelievable, professional, reassuring, and not one drop on the furniture! I tipped them...don't forget guys, this is backbreaking work with no appreciation at times. Island Movers was the first time I ever hired a moving company. I'm used to renting a U-Haul or having friends and family help. Originally, we had planned to move our stuff from Oahu to Maui via Pods, but when it got to 5 weeks before our move, I was told Pods was not an option. Scrambling on short notice, I called all moving companies on island. Island Movers had the friendliest employee to quote us, was able to fit us in on short notice on a holiday weekend and was reasonably priced. 75% of the quote was due at pick up and the remaining 25% would be due at drop off after they get a more accurate weight from when our pallet is shipped. I didn't know what to expect and had 85% of my house packed and ready to go at pick up. Island Movers were professional and careful with all of our belongings. For anything not boxed, they had all of their packing materials ready to go took care of everything. For our bedroom furniture they un-assembled and reassembled the bed frame and padded the dressers and nightstands. It was weird waiting on the side and just delegating, but overall it was a really positive experience. read more

So I stayed home all day for these guys because they give you 6 am to 8pm. You are stuck staying home. Island movers changed the delivery day without telling me.
