We recently relocated from Oahu to Colorado. I'd heard a lot of horror stories regarding sketchy moving companies but Honolulu Movers had many positive reviews. I went ahead an booked, they are very easy to work with and I had no problem getting a quote and setting up our move. Day of the move the crew showed up on time and they were great handling our items. We did pack and box most of our possessions outside of a few larger bulkier things like a couch and a desk. They took care of everything, loaded our items on their truck, and off they went. We were given an approximate 55 day delivery window but we were pleasantly surprised when our things showed up one month to the day! The crew that delivered were great, we directed where in the home to leave boxes and furniture. We had a great experience from booking, to pick up, to delivery. The price was awesome as well, we did save a substantial amount because we boxed 95% of the home ourselves with boxes ready to go. THIEVES - DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY - STOLE JEWLERY ZERO STARS This company stole my wedding rings and gold necklace (movers assigned Conrad and Ala). We notified them immediately when we realized the items were taken, but we're forced to wait the full 7+ days until delivery to "confirm" they were missing. At that point, instead of addressing the theft, we were passed around customer support with no accountability. I had to track down the owner's number through my own digging just to speak with him directly. They also stole a Yeti cooler that is photographed with them but never arrived! The theft was the worst part, but the entire move was a disaster from start to finish with Conrad and Ala: Missed Scheduled Move (Monday): Our move was confirmed for Monday. My husband and I both took the day off work, only to be told at 9:00 AM, without notice, that no truck had been reserved. We were promised the move would happen the next day instead, with arrival between 8:00-8:30 AM. Late and Unprepared Crew (Tuesday): They finally showed up at 9:30 AM with just 19 empty boxes and almost no packing materials. They didn't even know they were supposed to pack, complained about the job, claimed certain items wouldn't fit, and worried out loud about missing their flights. We had to step in to keep them from damaging fragile glassware due to their lack of supplies. Inefficient and Disorganized: The crew wasted time on personal calls and didn't start packing until 10:00 AM. At noon they left for "supplies" and a long lunch, not returning until 1:30 PM. With proper preparation, the move could have been done in a single day. Failure to Label & Ignoring Instructions: None of the boxes were labeled, numbered, or marked with the delivery address. Worse, they packed items we clearly instructed them NOT to touch--including my jewelry containing wedding bands. Careless Packing: TVs were wrapped in OUR COMFORTER instead of the protective TV boxes we were quoted for, leaving them at risk. Cords and remotes were left behind. As a retired fire captain, I'm speaking to anyone in public service--or anyone at all--who appreciates accountability and attention to detail. My wife and I recently moved from Oʻahu to the Big Island. After comparing inter-island movers, we chose Honolulu Moving Company based on their claims. Be warned: they are not a true inter-island moving company, and our experience was riddled with poor planning, insufficient resources, and careless handling. From the start, things went wrong. Despite submitting a detailed inventory through their online system, they showed up at our Oʻahu home with a small truck and just two movers for a full 2 bed / 2 bath house. Maka and Chase began carefully, but once they realized everything wouldn't fit, the quality dropped fast. Wrapping and padding were skipped. Our large flat screen TV, soundbars, and speakers were left unprotected. When I raised concerns, they claimed they'd secure everything at the warehouse. They didn't. A couple of weeks later on the Big Island, things got worse. One man, Conrad, showed up in a small U-Haul to unload our belongings from the harbor container. Just one person--for an entire household move-in. He told us he could only fit half the load and needed to race back to the harbor before closing. My wife and I had to help him unload to beat the deadline--something we weren't paying thousands of dollars to do. During unloading, I overheard Conrad's call with his supervisor, Dennis. Dennis told him that if he didn't finish that day, no one would be sent tomorrow to complete the job. I called Jaylene at the company, who said we didn't have to help. But if we hadn't, half our things might still be sitting at the harbor. This level of planning is unacceptable. As feared, our TV was damaged--never properly wrapped, just a blanket tossed over it. Speakers and soundbars were thrown into a box with no wrapping or packing. Fragile items were crushed under heavy boxes. Nothing was reassembled, despite being carefully disassembled and labeled by Maka and Chase back on Oʻahu. The advertised service was simply not delivered. This company cuts corners to boost profit--charging top dollar while sending the bare minimum resources. Their website misrepresents their capabilities, and their management lacks oversight and accountability. We filed a claim to try to recover some of the cost in damages. They said they would compensate us for our loss. It has been several weeks and we have received nothing other than just lip service. Conrad and crew helped my group out with a big event we hosted in Kapi'olani Park. They moved our items there on Friday and back on Saturday. BEWARE- I paid $100 deposit for a move on island. 2 men showed up, heavily tattooed, missing teeth late, not clear on my address. They started loading big items and within 5 minutes alleged they weren't going to have enough space for all of my things. So I started loading small boxes into my truck. One of them stopped to smoke and talking on phone about meeting up with someone. Then the two movers closed the large rear moving door while they were inside and had a discussion that I could not hear or see. When they emerged, they began loading again. They attempted to block other items from being loaded and left an entire closet full of my belongings before closing the van door again. I could see there was space available to place more boxes. They tied my king size bed to the back of the truck and said they do that all the time. They had to borrow my bungee cords to secure. On the drive to my new place, they took a 90 minute detour and apologized saying they had to use the restroom. They damaged and lost some of my items. I was also overcharged by 1 hour, $200 for labor. They did not include the $100 deposit credit I prepaid in the invoice. They lost a part to my bed frame that they disassembled. I contacted the company by phone and email to resolve dispute, yet no return calls were made. Emails said someone from dispatch would reach out. They never did. Venmo and my credit card company have sided amd returned some of my funds. This company is not trustworthy or responsible. I wish I had used Island Movers. I moved back home from New York and had a UPack pod picked up but because I live on the heights with hairpin turns and narrow roads, they couldn't deliver the pod to my home. Not to worry! I called Honolulu Moving Company, scheduled a move from UPack to my house and they were able to accommodate my timetable and were spot on with their estimated time to get the job done! Cody and Dave were my movers and they kept me informed about their arrival at UPack and were so fast in unpacking my pod and loading their truck and just as quick carrying stuff down the stairs or the driveway to the house. They were careful with my things and pulled boxes away from the wall as I requested. So happy I hired movers instead of trying to do it with family help. We're all old farts. These guys lost all of the actual valuable items I had. They lost my desktop pc damaged numerous items and lost my business merchandise. Also they apparently keep your belongings outside as most of my items had water damage when it arrived. This company had to come 2 seperate times as they will split up your belongings and they where meant to come for the third time but they had "lost" my most valuable items. Ala and Tristan - Thank you so much for moving me from my house to a storage unit! I am STILL so impressed with how they fit everything I owned into a 5x10 storage unit! I am a college student leaving to study abroad and my landlord did a 180 on me and all of a sudden I had to move out 11 days before leaving for Japan for 6 months! I was in this one story house for the past 2 years so I acquired a lot of stuff. I called them 7 days before I wanted to move out and they accommodated me immediately! I was frantic and one thing that helped me calm down so much through this stressful time was how transparent, communicative, and fairly priced they were! About Ala and Tristan, they showed up 30 minutes into a 2 hour arrival window which was great since I was anxious to get started. It took me about 4 days to pack up all my stuff, and they moved all my 25 boxes out in less than15 minutes. I mean, I didn't even have to lift a finger. I was impressed because if it was up to me, I would probably take till the end of next year. They were efficient and really were working hard to get out as soon as we could. Ala did a lot of the boxes (and packed some stuff so kindly for me when I didn't have time to finish), when Tristan disassembled my bed frame and desk in minutes. Now to the other part that was worth every single penny, I had a 5x10 storage unit and let's just say I like my occasional shopping trips so I had more stuff than expected. These two literally did a game of Tetris to make it fit in this storage unit. They need to go on some sort of game show or something because they fit all of my stuff (clothes, pillows, bedding, art, etc) a bed frame, bar cart, two chairs, two tv stands, a mattress, a tv, a cube storage, and ETC. all in the storage unit PLUS I HAD MORE ROOM for last minute stuff!! They worked so hard to make sure I could fit it in there. Work was done in 2.5 hours and I swear these two are absolute professionals. THANK YOU! I think if it was up to me I would have to rent a truck for 3-4 days and probably needed to upgrade to a 10x10 storage unit. With them, they fit everything and did it in 2.5 hours. I called over 11 places and they were the most fairly priced and kindest people. I will be using them again and I will 1000% request Ala and Tristan! I AM VERY GRATEFUL and I am not worried now that I am studying abroad! read more

Where to begin, started off good. Then down hill from there, they price by square feet and material. The guys that showed up were inexperienced. They pack not caring if it's protected. Our price went up after they had our things loaded. If they don't pack good then the amount of boxes go up and so does the square footage which is pricing. I refused to pay what they said, so they had to recalculate which they went through our stuff. One of the employees graffiti our bathroom door (inappropriate) picture. I mentioned a number of times to pack my moms hutch from the 1800's with original glass, good. My husband watched them pack it. When it arrived not in the wrapping he saw, the glass was shattered. Watch out for your valuables! the movers tried to steal my wife's designer bags. A bunch of my wife's designer bags were in a Hawaiian duffle bag and they usually ask where to put it when unloading but my wife noticed the duffle bag in the closet and she went through it and noticed the duffle bag slightly opened and she noticed her Gucci bag and LV bag missing so she asked them and the guy was "uhhhh idk" playing dumb and then he went back up to the truck and magically found it somehow. Maybe the bags grew legs and climbed out of the duffle bag and it was probably so nice and warm it wanted to stay inside of their truck. Weird huh?! We didn't complain and didn't want to blame anyone so we just ignored it as long as we got it back. The move was okay. If you don't mind your dressers getting a little scuffed up. Also we had $1k bed that was disassembled and brought to the our new house and didn't need it to be assembled because we didn't need it at the time so we asked them to put it in the garage. The bed frame was okay not damaged but they didn't leave or give us the screws for it so the bed is worthless now. If the theft attempt wasn't enough the screws to the bed was enough to leave a review to warn others what service they may get. Just move your own valuables if you hire them. It's our fault for trusting "professional movers". Just save your money do it yourself or don't hire these sketchy guys. While you're moving it's impossible to keep an eye on all of your things and valuables. read more

Austin and Jestin saved the day and kept this from being a 1-star review. We explained to Hector that we were moving out of our 8x16' POD into a home, and they showed up in a truck that was far too small. We ended up having to make two trips from Mililani to East Honolulu (almost Waikiki). They ended up cutting charges for the time the second trip took, but it still took our entire day to finish the move because of it (they showed up at 10 am - at the end of the 9-10 am window - and we finished at 6 pm). After loading up for the second and final trip, the crew just up and quit and decided they weren't going to finish the day. We were blown away and left hanging because our building has a limit on moving times (til 5pm). The foreman apparently got some bad news that day so he was grumpy all day, and I get it, life happens and that complicate things, but after all the delays already endured, it was a bit much. He lasted until the second trip and then just took his 3-man crew and left. Austin and Jestin called at 3:30 pm saying they were coming to the rescue and they did. They showed up with great energy, hustled, and got the job done (our building graciously extended our time until 6 pm to accommodate). IF YOU BOOK WITH HONOLULU MOVERS, REQUEST AUSTIN AND JESTIN! Great dudes. Hector dropped the ball by sending a truck that was too small - again, they reduced the time they charged for, but it still took way too long. We were super frustrated but Austin and Jestin finished the job strong. I'd book again, but only if I was guaranteed these two guys and got confirmation that they were sending the proper truck. I found HMC here on Yelp and reached out to them after the initial company I booked through a friend backed out on me (a few days before the move at that!). Conrad (I nicknamed him C-Note bc he's 100% that guy lol) and the crew were SO respectful and professional. It was a crew of 3 moving my 3Br 2ba house locally and they worked hard and got it done. They worked so much I had to force them to go take their break Lol. They came prepared with wardrobes and boxes, and even though I initially thought I only needed them for my big stuff, they were able to pack more than that which was a HUGE help bc we all know how it is when folks offer to help then don't show up. I moved on to a military base but they already had a pass so that made the commute seamless. Jon charged a flat hourly rate with no extra or hidden inflated charges and honestly for the amount of hours they did I think the charge was very fair. Thanks again guys! We requested a move from one end of Honolulu (Manoa) to the far end of Kailua (Enchanted Lake) over Labor Day weekend on a Friday. The quality of the move was great. Nothing damaged. The value was above what we were aiming for price wise but considering how much stuff we had to move it was worth the cost for sure. 3 people helped move almost everything in their company truck and it took probably 4-5 hours in the hottest times of the day. I appreciated their hard work and efficiency. Sefo was doing the signing part of the job for us and he was patient in waiting for our payment which was cheapest in cash. Eugene was the veteran mover we had worked with previously, he's funny, warm and clever and big heavy getting things in and out of your narrow hallways and doorways. read more

I previously used Prime Movers and was happy with them for my last move, but they were no longer in business. Disappointed... I went to Yelp and started looking at moving companies and reading reviews. In the process, I stumbled across some familiar faces under Honolulu Movers. I had Cody and Lee for my last move with Prime Movers. I saw both of them under Honolulu Movers. I called to reserve my move date and requested them again. I was told there are no guarantees but they would try to arrange for them. On move day, the movers arrived promptly at their scheduled time. Cody was one of my assigned movers. I felt very good already about the move because he did such a great job the last time. All in all, the move took just 2 hours with two guys and a truck! I mean... I did a lot of prep before hand to minimize the moving time. I disassembled furniture and boxed everything. They wasted no time and started wrapping everything. Once done, they Tetris'd the elevator and only needed to make 3 trips. An hour later, we were on the road. At the new building, they were just as efficient getting everything up to the new place. It seemed getting everything in position at my new condo only took 30 mins! Just like that! Done in just 2 hours! The Honolulu Movers is an honest and very passionate moving company in Honolulu, Hawaii. My wife had booked the reservation weeks in advance and they had promise use the date and time. The moving day came by and in the morning they did show to little bit late because one of the guys did not show up for work according to them. Nonetheless we were waiting for the team and they eventually showed up. This is the turn around point of the story, they were very professionally equipped and three guys worked like charm. They were so quick to pack and managed to get things done in timely manner. They were very kind and respective at every moment. Unfortunately one of the furnishing pieces ended up breaking but the management was able to help me replace the broken furnishing. I've used movers in previous moves and this was the first time using Honolulu Movers for a local move. Movers arrived 30 minutes late, there were supposed to be 3 guys but only 2 showed up, they didn't bring any wardrobe boxes and the truck wasn't big enough to fit everything. I had to go back the next day to move all the clothes and items left behind on my own. The 2 guys worked really hard and I even tried calling dispatch on the day of the move to request another guy to help them out but there was no answer and never returned my call. I called customer service after the move and still no call back. I gave a two rating because the guys worked hard. Update: Anna in Customer Service contacted me and we came to an amicable resolution.
