This company is unethical. After 5-6 months, they raised the rate on me by 40%. They advertise one price and they do not tell you that they are going to raise the rates in 6 months. Several other people I know had the same experience. Public Storage knows they can do this and that the customer is in a tough situation to do anything but except this. Public Storage on Waialae is clean, safe and convenient. The staff are very helpful. But as others have written, once you are in, the prices will go up constantly. Increases usually have been $10 per month or so, but we had a new increase of $40 per month. Why? We are on the first floor, which a lot of people want, and it's easy for them to get another customer--no matter that we have been customers for years and years. I know this is the central organization and not the local staff, but it's so discouraging. You can pay the increase, move to another locker at a starting price or move out. Pono helped me with lowering the increase before, but it only lasted six months. Come on, Public Storage. Treat your loyal customers with appreciation. read more

I was shopping around for a storage unit as I was moving into a new place that's 200 square feet smaller, yikes! My first storage unit ever and I'm a "senior". lol I called around Honolulu and happened to reach the Waialae location next to H1. I got a very nice female rep who explained how everything works. I mean everything! I asked a zillion questions, and her patience never waivered. That was how I picked this place. I told her I was on a budget/retired and she suggested I take a spot in the basement to save even more money and that's what I did. When I first arrived there was a computer error that kept us both busy for over an hour. I was moving myself and so tired, with a torn meniscus in my knee. She brought me a chair from behind her desk to use while she battled the computer program. Who does that? I can recommend using this storage location. The website is crystal clear and very modern. I'm on autopay and even get a reminder email before they take out the monthly amount on my bill. Another way to save $$, bring your own lock rather renting one of theirs and provide your own insurance to save another $15/month. Public Storage is one of the biggest rip-offs I've seen in a while. We got a storage unit here in late 2019, taking the promo at face value, the one they still advertise everywhere of $1 for first month's rent is total BS, what they neglect to tell you in that post is that there are a bunch of fees, mandatory insurance, and the price of a lock (because we apparently had to have one on that very second, even though we weren't moving anything in that day). We had the storage unit for 5 months before they raised the rent and literally the next month they raised it again. In total they raised the rent 4 times before we left. Our rent started at $116.76 per month in July 2019 to $215.19 in August of this year. Don't rent here, they WILL rip you off. read more

Initially when we booked our unit we got an exceptional price and location near the elevators. We were able to move in our items and everything fit perfectly. The elevators are secured and there is ample parking. We are currently in transition and storing our items there for the time being. Fast forward six months and our bill increases over $100 a month. After speaking with Public Storage, this is something that will continue to occur every 3-6 months. So basically, I will have a very expensive bill by the end of this year if it continues this way. I was under the impression that the pricing was fair and reasonable. The staff are also incompetent as they mistakenly cut off our lock on our unit thinking we were another unit. Not sure why you would not double check that before doing something like that. They are also very short staffed, so the office is not always open when you come. I would not recommend public storage, go with a different company that won't increase your prices every 3-6 months! read more

The management has employees blocking the door before they close and "advising" people not to enter before they close.. people have access to their storage units less than for less than 12 hours a day and discouraging people to come in before they even are close to closing is ridiculous. They increase the rent totaling to $400 a month.. and their hours are during usual work hours for everyone.. how to you expect people to access their stuff with reasonable time? read more

Do not store anything of value here... IT'S NOT SECURE! Everything small and of any value will be stolen. It seems like an 'inside job' where they come in through the wire mesh ceilings and your lock means nothing... it's just for show. Move in March 2019, 10x10 unit. Original price/cost was $280. Now, two years later, it's $410. This is my last month. You can reserve a brand new account/storage unit for the same original price, about $290, for the 10x10. Yet they continue to increase long term customers rates every year. Sounds like a scam. Wether you're moving for temporary move such as myself or if you need a longer term unit, you will not be disappointed with this facility. Carts available for use and can be really the only thing that I would say is a bummer, waiting for a cart. Unless you bring your own. Many informative texts and emails were communicated to me and I very much appreciated it. When I got to the facility, everyone was helpful and nice. Before deciding to rent a small storage space at this location, I had read reviews - and they were all very positive - many mentioned the wonderful friendly service they had received and I remember the name Leina was mentioned in a few of them. When I went to check out the space - quess what, Leina was at the desk to help me out, showed me the storage unit, and was just a joy to work with. After that I went online and completed my sign-up, and when I returned on move-in day, Leina and her colleagues behind the desk were there to get me set up, and again they were very helpful and with a nice friendly easy-going attitude. I highly recommend this facility and the excellent staff working there. The reason I moved in was because a competitor in Waipahu had *doubled* the rent for the space I had, and provided not half even of the great service I received at Public Storage in Kaimuki. read more
