If I could give a zero I would. I started renting a unit there in 2023, it was well managed then. Since then it has changed to storeQuest, and it went downhill very quickly. Today, I went to my storage unit, and a person was actually living in the one in front of mine. I got so scared! Music was blaring and the man was passed out. I called a worker and they stayed with me while I emptied my unit. The man woke up and left. This was the second time in 2 months that I have seen people living in those storage units. This is NOT A SAFE PLACE! Later as I was leaving, I saw that same man dumpster diving next door, and then crouching in the corner. I have cancelled my unit. Do not rent from them, they let homeless people live there. read more

Why I recommend Storquest is their military-friendly policy, customer parking, and they accept packages which has been useful option for me to receive packages securely even heavy and oversized. My Storquest experience has been with two locations (Kakaako and Kalihi sites) Hours Both of which vary according to the type of storage and access hours are store hours, open 7 days at Kalihi and 6 days at Kakaako being half day Saturday. Locks -- Kalihi site requires you to purchase their unique storage locks which cannot be used at other sites -- Kakaaka site has storage units with rings you can provide your own affordable locks and any lock that can fit their rings large or small . Units -- Kalihi offers AC or non-AC units but elevator was out of service at the time so difficulty to have an upstairs unit . It makes a difference if you have a bottom or top unit even at first floor since top units have only a cage wire covering whatever floats in the air can accumulate onto your items. While bottom units are subject to whatever the above storage unit may have leaking or spilling into the bottom unit such as cat food that spilled through corners into bottom unit. -- Kakaako only offers non-AC units and has working elevator. ** I prefer Kakaako because I live nearby and I found an awesome sale for $36/mo 2x8 door standard and 8 ft long at ground level. Because it was previously two units that had become one, access was a front and back door (double door) I found really useful. Communication with staff -- It varies. -- Kalihi staff has always reached out to me, left me messages when packages arrive. -- Kakaako is not the same, when packages arrive I had to reach out and inquire , not knowing when it would arrive calling every day sometimes waiting on the line to find out nothing arrived yet. It would be nice if they could let me know when they receive a package so i dont have to call every day. Accomodation Both sites accomodate with plenty of ladders and carts. More so than other storage companies. Transferring between units within one site for changing sizes is with ease too. Starting or Closing account -- Offers renter insurance or provide your own and they refund their charge if you have your own. -- First come first serve and can reserve if you happen to find a good find. -- No refunds Unlike other storage companies, they do not refund any credit left on account when closing out so plan accordingly. read more

I was skeptical at first,They made the process simple and easy! Its up the ramp on the 4th floor. So as i drove up, its not that busy, so i wasnt sure what to expect, but needed to put my stuff in a storage and return the uhaul down the street. I was in and out, and able to my paperwork, then rent 2 units, and unload my uhaul in a timely manner, so that i could return the uhaul! They were pleasant, courteous, professional and empathetic to my plight. The price online i found basically states they were the cheapest next to their other Kalihi location. They have 3 options for their insurance(s), and i like how they explain it to a simple person like me I havent been to a storage place that was quiet. It was nice. It was clean. They have a bathroom. Save your money and time. They put a lock on my storage unit, because I had plan to move out. They didn't have the key to take off the lock, because she couldn't find the keys. The girl that works in the office asked me to return on Monday. In which I was charged a late fee. The biggest issue is there is no AC and weird people hanging out around the storage area on bikes. read more

I had such a pleasant experience with Cheryl at StoreQuest Self Storage. She helped me find the perfect unit for my needs. Although I only needed the unit for a few months Cheryl took the time to explain all my options and gave me a tour of the facility. I checked out today and it only took 5 minutes. They are really efficient, helpful, friendly and accurate. I had an email of my exit transaction before I could even get out of the office. I will definitely be using this facility in the future. Although the building is very large and has a two lane car ramp, it's very easy to navigate. Don't let that detour you. The office is on the 4th floor and the options and prices are far lower than other facilities that I have used in the passed. 5 stars all around! read more

Do not rent a unit here. It is filthy. The hours of operation are not convenient to a working person's schedule. Even then, they oftentimes have the doors locked when the schedule says they would otherwise be open. They recently upped my rental with NO NOTICE. There is a small print in the contract stating that they can do so with a 7 day written notice that you will not see unless you are looking for, but they didn't even notify me. They are all friendly and helpful until you sign that contract, but after that forget about it. I am moving out at great inconvenience to myself. Lesson learned, Don't rent here! read more

I hardly EVER post a review unless the review is a great one, or a horrible one..... In this case, I would have to say that I am a REPEAT customer over the years, and I am extremely dissatisfied with not only the customer service (I called to ensure that the storage would be open on Dec 24, and the manager answered the phone, told me that she wasn't on site at that time...which is odd because I called the office number, and she ENSURED me that they would be open until 12pm that day so I rushed from a ways away to ensure that I got there on time because I had important things to retrieve from storage for business and personal reasons and knew that the storage would be closed for not only Christmas day, but also the day following, which was a Sunday. I arrived at 11:18 a.m. and was surprised to find that the employee Orlando was already outside with the doors locked to the facility. So I ended up losing business due to their miscommunication or falsification of the hours for that day. Not only that, but my clean laundry was also something I desperately needed and was stored oh, so I ended up having to purchase cheap clothing at Goodwill to even look respectable. In my opinion this is simply the worst customer service, which they brag about having very good customer service ... and I am simply very disappointed and wish I could rate this lower than one star honestly. In the other reviews which all happened to be five stars ... the customers mentioned being offered upgraded units for no charge, but I have been offered no such thing and I have also noticed that all of the pictures online are of the new units and the nice office area, which is simply not a Fair assessment of this storage facility which leads me to believe that these reviews are fake! In my opinion if you are looking for a storage unit, stay far far away from this place. ( if you don't want to take my word for it then simply visit the place and stay for 10 minutes and see before you commit to this storage facility) I also enjoyed the review that said this place is not climate controlled but not hot either, which is laughable at the best because every time I go there and stay for more than 5 minutes I literally am dripping with sweat and need to change clothes. read more

I get it, that a cheaper storage facility is not that nice, and the rate increase after a couple months was almost expected, but what pissed me off was this. I get a letter saying the storage unit I have is being demolished & I have to relocate in less than a month! I call them & they have nothing similar to accommodate me with. Of course they will give me 2 units instead of 1, but will charge me the 2 individual rates which is substantially higher than what I'm paying nor for the same square footage. In July of 2011, I moved from a two bedroom house in Pauoa Valley to a two bedroom apartment in Makiki. I had to downsize from about 980 sq ft. to less than 650 sqft. My motto was/is ... live life simply. I had a few things that did not fit in the new apartment that I just could NOT get rid of. So, I shopped around for a storage unit and StorQuest had the best deals. I didn't need any fancy, a/c - temperature control or pretty doors, etc. So, this location, off of Ward Ave to the right, before Asahi Grille, is just that. Simple, easy to get to, no frills and you get what you pay for. There are only a few parking stalls -but I've never seen it be a problem - there are more than enough flatbeds and stairs with rollers to move around and get your items in or out of the storage unit. The hours for management and to do "business" is not very good for working people (like teachers) ... the open times to get in and out of the storage units were just right. I'd love for them to be open longer on Sundays, but I guess its not a busy day for the storage industry? OH well ... that's why it can't get more stars ... parking, hours and no frills, remember? read more

I've used this facility on two occasions for a month, each time I was given quick courteous attention. Cheryl assisted me each time and asked if I had been referred to give them a $25.00 referral fee which is a nice perk. I also paid $1.00 for the first month plus insurance and surcharge which was still less than all others in the area. The storage units are being renovated and updated which can be limiting in getting to the unit but progress is always a good sign of room for improvement. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a short term month to month since the units aren't climate controlled and the hours can be an inconvenience. When I initially called over the phone, Cheryl suggested a specific size based on the items I needed to store. They placed the unit on hold for me until I was able to go down and take a look at it. Best value on storage in Honolulu. The facility is a bit ghetto and in the middle of a long term renovation, and it can be a bit crowded sometimes to get stuff in and out, but for the price it can't be beat. How often do you really access your stuff in storage anyways? The staff is all really sweet and helpful, definitely the nicest staff I've encoutered at any storage place, where usually people are pretty grumpy. We moved into a big place and have tons of room now, otherwise we would have had no intention of leaving, we thought our inexpensive storage for extra business supplies was pretty useful, but don't need it anymore. read more

Absolutely would recommend storquest kakaako to all. Absolutely knowledgeable, very upfront about charges, insurance and very helpful. Being a virgin to the self storage world, had no idea what to expect. Just going off of dimensions on the website was not enough for me. I called, asked if I could come down to view the storage unit. I got the recent notice by letter about needing to move my contents to a new unit due to renovations. When I called, I did get a new unit in the "other" end of the facility and was told that I got the last one and that anyone getting back to them after me would have to move to a new location. Since I am on the mainland and couldn't do it myself, StorQuest promised to move my stuff at no charge and keep the contents in the same arrangement as in the old unit because another party has some stuff in my unit and mixing it would be a problem for us. They have told me that the move is complete. When I return to Honolulu, I guess I will see then how well they followed my request. Generally, I have found the place not sparkling clean but it could be worse. There are always plenty of carts handy and even though parking spaces are few, I have never not been able to squeeze my vehicle in when I needed to do so. It has always been open during listed hours when I've gone there but I only go a couple of times a year. read more

The only thing is staff on hand is small, so you should call early if you need help with things. And, there is no dumpster, so you will need to take trash with you. The units are ok and didn't seem dirty unlike the other reviewer's observation. Parking is a bit tough if there are more than 3 cars there. Hallways are tight if people are busy moving in/out. The people in the office were helpful and friendly. There was a surprise $20 setup fee and required monthly insurance of $9 / month which bumps up the storage rate. If you have renter's insurance it might cover your storage space and save you the extra fee. They accept packages for you which is very convient for us. read more

You have to take your trash with you, and it's a pain for me because when i move my things, I usually end up having all these boxes and i got nowhere to throw them away. I previously gave this place a 5 star review and today I had to change it. Apparently on December 14th they changed their hours and accessibility times without sending notice to their clients (no email, phone call, or snail mail), they are now only open from 8-11am on Saturday and closed completely on Sunday. How in the world does this make sense since most people work Monday to Friday? Yeah they're cheap and the workers are very friendly and helpful, but this is bullshit and I expected better. read more

After doing a little research, its obvious that this storage location is convenient and very affordable. If these two reasons arent enough for you to choose to store your belongings at this storquest, I would highly recommend doing so for the excellent customer service provided by their manager, Michelle and also by their maintenance man, Orlando. Ive dealt with people from different companies and different locations and let me tell you, a lot of employees in this industry are not always high on customer service. They probably deal with a lot of difficult daily issues so I dont blame them but I can say that if you do find friendly employees, youve scored. Michelle is very knowledgeable, professional and polite- a true gem. The day that I moved everything into my unit, I misplaced my keys somewhere in my unit and although I was done on time for closing, I ended up taking 10 extra minutes trying to locate my keys. Thankfully I found them but even better was that Michelle actually waited for me and didnt say anything negative at all when I explained what had happened. A week later, I visited the unit and actually locked my keys in the car about 45 minutes before closing time. Oh my gosh, I was so stressed; these things dont usually happen to me... I had to borrow the office phone and phone book to get hold of my insurance company so they could assist me in getting into my car, hopefully before closing. That day Cheryl and Orlando were there and Orlando was nice enough to lend me his phone to confirm how long the lock out service would take and a piece of wire to try to fish for my keys. Unfortunately Im not very good at working with cars and still needed to wait for the professionals to arrive. Michelle drove all the way to storage to wait with me for the lock out company to arrive and she was so patient about it. She didnt rush me at all and we actually talked story for 30 minutes or so until the service man appeared and we were able to leave. Michelle is so sweet and understanding; I am so appreciative that she allowed me to wait for me to right my mistake without complaining or yelling at me. If she werent so awesome, I would have had to leave my car in the garage overnight and figure out what to do without my keys, phone, or wallet. Yipes! Thank you Michelle for going above and beyond to provide excellent customer service and also to Orlando for offering extra help I would not have received otherwise.
