She gave me utmost support, hospitality, kindness, caring service for me to move my stuff on Friday & Monday this June --Month. The lockup Storage is fortunate to have Charlotte as an employee, she deserves 100 Star from me. She treated me like Ohana & took care of me. I'm a repeated customer for LockUpStorage -KAPIOLANI/McCully. And I know Hawaii50 Film there. My Families worked for the show & Hawaii Film Industry. The Staff are always soo nice & kindly to me. Alarms blare and they do NOTHING! I cannot image how your stuff can be safe when they ignore alarms for hours.

In the past I had a unit here but got in a car crash and my account went delinquent while I was in the hospital. Up until that incident I enjoyed the service enough to try and open a new unit. The person on the phone, Josh. Was dismissive and not showing the spirit of aloha in the slightest. He said I could talk to a manager about getting a new unit but his overall demeanor made me decide my money would be better spent elsewhere. read more

If you have belongings in this facility, check your unit. There is a rat infestation. Although I pay for their insurance monthly, apparently rodent damage is not covered. All of my clothing was destroyed, along with years of work in academic papers. Books had covers chewed on. I am sorting through some hanging items that were covered to see if the rat urine penetrated or if they can be cleaned, but that will be an expensive process, also. Management has known of the rodent problem since last fall but did not notify unit renters so that we could protect or move items. read more

Love this place. Weʻve rented various sizes of units due to our needs. We have lived off island since 2019 and this trip to the island found us needing to downsize to a smaller unit. We only had a couple of weeks to accomplish our task. When it was time to change units, the manager ensured everything went smoothly and without a hitch. We were so extremely pleased. We're we're in the middle of a home sale and we needed to get stuff out quick for staging. This place was quick secure and convenient. Codes access, secure grounds, and lots of storage options. They had a free moving van move in of the storage when we signed (not move out though) the best part was the parking lot access. I noticed a few business on the ground floor keeping their stock. You can drive directly into the building. Every point of entry had key coded access and surveillance systems. I felt like my possessions were complete secure. The ample operating hours and ease of access was a big win for me, living in a mostly empty condo you'll find yourself forgetting things, it's was easy to grab and go. When I was done with the storage it was super easy to unload. It's just storage but the ease of it all really relieved me of a lot of stress during this time. read more

This facility is a piece of shit my mom got a call today saying that the lock looked like it was tampered with. she gets there the lock is still on they had to get something to pry the door open just to find out that our fucking storage unit has been robbed and completely empty and my mother called me crying because all of her stuff since we've been here from 1988 is stolen . expensive collector items now you tell me how a high security storage place that they brag about with cameras all around let somebody come in stealing everything completely out of the locker and decides to call us today and saying they cant show her the footage that she has to call the police which she is dealing with now I want a corporate person to contact me ASAP. Going to make this as sweet and quick as possible. Started in Jan 2019 at $285 a mo for a 10x10. Just ended my account in Mar 2024, $525 a month. I had a light sensor outside of my unit inoperable for over a year and a half.. their excuse was, their vendor was in Ca. I'm pretty sure there was an electrician on island who needed the work who could've taken care of it. One elevator inoperable twice. Vendor's in Ca. Called corporate to speak to a regional mgr three times, not once was there an effort to return my call. Drive thru, elevators and each floor ALWAYS looked as if no one cleaned. Ecxept of course the day and day after they actually cleaned. If broken things were causing an inconvenience to the renters, the rent should not have gone up twice a year until items were repaired. This company is making a FORTUNE, but absolutely DO NOT CARE about the working folks, only about profits. I would seriously consider storing elsewhere. read more

I got tricking this self strage Price was so cheep $75 a month but goes up w price when payment $150 because of insurance They said I have to pay I told them write the letter how much price but they don't write the any number because evidence, I got closed my shop by Covid 19 and need to wait gov help then I offered the late payment First time was really good service and wonderful help They said that if no access they don't need to pay late fee and then I believed them but after supervisor and manager contacted me and I got offer A lot of changed payment Finally they gave the new letter for new rent fee $180 after only few month $75 goes up to $ 150 and finally $160 + Now I got payment $530 for 2 month Where come from ????? This place is a mildew factory!! It is horrible. There is air conditioning, but it is a cold tin can sitting in the hot sun and moisture builds up inside. I put all of my furniture, clothes, and property in a unit here when I moved, and it is now ruined because there is mildew on everything! the boxes are noe moist. GEEZ! Scandalous, I chose this place because of the free truck rental for 1st time customer. I rented a storage unit on Athe 16th of Sept:and was prorated and only charged for 1/2 the month. Now that Sept is enduring and October beginning. I'm my mind if I get everything out before October 1st, I'm good to go. However, now I'm told there is a 30 day storage stay minimum. So regardless if I get my things out by Oct. 1st, they are still going to charge me for the whole month of October. Now if i fulfill 30 day minimum stay and wait till October 16, fulfilling my 30 day state. I would still have to pay for month of October on full. Makes no sense to me. I'm going to be Charged $400 + no matter what do. I asked why wasn't this explained when I initially rented the storage unit. I get my things out by Sep. 30th, they ding me on the 30 day minimum. If I fulfill my 30 day stay and move out mid October. I will be charged for the mouth of October No matter what i do or who I talk to. There is no way to avoid having to pay for October. This place is charging you for the time you are not using. I rented a storage for only couple of months due to moving in between apartments. I emptied it on the 11 and was told that I will be charged for the whole 30 days. Of course, they will rent it to someone else, thus double charge the same unit. Very disappointing. read more

These guys are a bunch of liars. Moved out after leasing a unit for 5 years and was told they would issue me a refund from the amount pre-paid for the month. Three months go by with out a word so I call in to check. Turns out that there is no refund coming. This would have been a slightly higher ranking if not for this final blow. The location is good but that is about the extent of it. Lots of bums hanging around and the staff always seems to have something better to do than help you. read more

Terrible customer service. I have a unit here and after 2 months I am ready to get out. The staff is so unpleasant and rude. I dread going in the office. Last time I was there a salesperson started chewing me out about how irresponsible I was about picking up my packages. Luckily, I had my phone handy and played it on speaker phone to prove I did what she asked and in less time than she asked. Instead of apologizing she just remained silent and ignored me. Very frequently they close their trash can, so if you have anything to throw away you are out of luck. They have zero interest in cardboard recycling which takes up 90% of their waste. Don't go around lunch they always get the most disgusting food and leave it all over the counter. read more

Thanks to Brandon Mesa, I had a very positive experience here. Their prices were the best in the McCully/Kapiolani area, the structure was recently built and very clean, and Brandon was extremely helpful. I needed a place short term to store all of my stuff while my condo was being renovated. They can only reserve a locker less than 30 days in advance. I reserved my 10 x 10 locker about 14 days prior to my actual move in date. You need to buy a lock or bring your own lock too. Their lock, which is very sturdy, is about $10. I wanted to reserve their free moving truck, however their truck was damaged due to an overexcited renter who drove their 14' truck into a 10' clearance the previous day. Since their truck was unavailable due to damage, Brandon was kind and helpful to reserve a 17' UHaul truck for me, at a discount that he negotiated on my behalf. Yay! My move date went smoothly, and Brandon was there to ensure that we moved in without any issues, and he asked how our UHaul rental experience was. Upon learning that we were misinformed that we had to return the truck by 5PM, he called UHaul on our behalf to ensure that the rental was 24 hours so we wouldn't have to return the truck until 9:30AM the next day, not 5PM the same day, which I was relieved to hear. They sell wardrobe boxes for about $15.00, glass kits, mattress covers, and all other moving accessories. Ask for Brandon as he gets 10 stars for customer service! He went above & beyond the call for me, which I am grateful for! Moving is always stressful and he made my experience much more tolerable. read more

This storage place is awesome! The building is conveniently located on the corner of McCully and Kapiolani. Easy access from either street. The building is very secured with lots of CCTV cameras. The cost of the storage units I found to be a little cheaper than Public Storage. The staff when I started my rental were friendly and very nice. They have a convenient store where you can purchase all your packing needs and reasonable prices. They also offer a free truck if you desire. The building is new and all the storage units are kept clean. If you are in need of a storage unit and live in the Waikiki area, this is the place for you! The place is not huge so no need to go through a maze just to access your storage locker. They offer an incentive if you recommend the place to friends or family with a $25 discount applied to your monthly rental. They also offer a website where you can conveniently pay for your storage locker on line. read more

Also the entire reason I'm writing this review is alvena babichenko, the employee behind the front desk. Not only is she kind, knowledgable and helpful, the 2nd time I showed up a angry old lady walked in and yelled at her for made up reasons. I knew I was in the right place as soon as I heard the music playing in the office...oldies, the kind that were oldies when I was a young whipper-snapper. I was initially assisted by Property Manager Brian Lamanske who took the time to put me in a storage space that fit my needs and was economical. Important point so I will reiterate "was economical". Unlike a lot of the businesses in the Waikiki area that are only interested in making a quick buck the folks at The Lock Up are genuinely interested in building lasting relationships with their cliental. The very capable Property Manager Mary Ann Isabelo was on point when my house hold goods arrived (well over one ton!). Without her expert assistance I would have pulled my hair out (and I'm bald). My mamma used to say "if you can't something nice, don't say anything thing at all". That noted, it's easy to talk about The Lock Up because it's "All-Good". read more

My son is going to college soon but we needed a storage to keep his stuff in until he leaves after this summer. So the search is on for a self storage facility. He is an inspiring music producer so basically has some gear that needs to be stored in a climate controlled facility. That was the one most important requirement. I contacted several locations and finally came upon The Lock Up Self Storage. They were running an online special for $56 which was excellent for being near Waikiki area plus literally less than 5 minutes away from us. I read on their main website for this location that they are "100% climate controlled building". I called their number they had online for their Honolulu location (808) 942-5533. This apparently is their main list number which goes directly to their call center. One of my first questions was whether or not this facility is fully climate controlled just to be sure. The agent looked up the location and confirmed that this is a climate controlled facility. So I went ahead and made a reservation. http://tinyurl.com/lys3ker We packed up all of the boxes and drove to The Lock Up. We were greeted by two people that worked there, exchanges our hellos then gave them our reservation. They told us they had the unit ready I had reserved. I asked just to make sure if the unit was climate controlled and to my surprise they said "NO" I explained to them that I had reserved a climate controlled unit, even told them that's what their website said and picked up the brochure in front of their desk that stated their units are climate controlled. Of course there were no other units available in the size and price range that did have climate control. This is absolutely FALSE ADVERTISING. They mentioned we should have called them directly but when I asked them their direct number they said that I still had to call their main list number since they did not have a direct number. Make any sense? Upset yet having already wasted our time and energy bringing the boxes over and ready to store it we went ahead and rented the unit without the climate control. We of course had to keep the boxes that required climate control. We signed the paperworks and went to grab our boxes to place into the unit. As we're going towards our unit there were items from another storage renter littered everywhere. We could even get to the unit they gave us. We told the office this and they had to move us down since we had no more time to waste waiting around for the other person to move their belongings out of the way. This was a very unfortunate and upsetting experience we had at The Lock Up Self Storage located in Honolulu. Because of the blatant FALSE ADVERTISING from their online website, call center agents, and even their brochures, I would never recommend The Lock Up Self Storage to anyone. I hope in the future this business is honest about their descriptions and what is being told to the public. If they were part of the BBB, I would most definitely place a complaint immediately. read more
