They contracted island movers to deliver and install my fridge. They came fast bradas is nice so they good with customer service. Main guy came in took out my old fridge but when he undid the valve he said my part is old so valve was broke. House line started leaking. So what I did was turn off main line and blead the line so no more water came out. First if you deliver and install em you should no plumbing or no even touch the lines. The valve when it came out looked good condition and valve looked like he over turned it. Had to grab Brison again to help me and cost me more money. Need one good plumber for anything call Brison plumbing, good and professional and come quick when your house wet cuz movers not good brah. read more

This is not a fair and unreasonable policy! Never give them a deposit until you get a free quote first! Items were lost and damaged in transport to the Big Island. Reimbursement according to the company's policy is $.30 per pound and claim forms need to be completed for assistance on my case. My recommendation (especially for locals having to move a few items between islands) is to find a more reputable company where employees care about providing services and will NOT lose items in transport. I can't imagine what would be lost if I had to ship items overseas. read more

Such a shame for Costco to use a delivery company like this. Island Movers delivered a stove without all the accessories included in the box. When I called to request for them, the rep was not willing to provide the missing parts and abruptly hung up the phone. The manager said she personally checked the boxes, found all the accessories I was missing and had another guy deliver. What got delivered was still incomplete. The best part was the guy that delivered the supposedly all the missing parts said the manager never looked at what he was delivering. They started off great. Very accommodating. But then they forgot an appointment to "virtually" look at my items to give me a quote. Which was okay. Someone called - took down notes. Then asked me what day I wanted to move. I told them - about a month in advance. I get a call two weeks before the date saying I never set up a date. Then I get told we can move your items - on a date where I told them I am already off island. And the only other date is way before I move out. I'd give them zero stars if I could. Husband and I are a military family, so we had a weight allowance, if we go over we have to pay. Totally get it. The three movers we had were great and friendly, very polite. Here is where the one star comes in. Our stuff gets picked up and to the port, we get an email stating we are 2,050lbs OVER our allowance and that our stuff couldn't be reweighed until we get to our next station. Ok fine, we get here and have our stuff reweighed only to find out we were 1500lbs UNDER what these people "ESTIMATED" and they didn't minus the 10% in packing material (which tacked on close to 500lbs) nor did they minus my husbands pro gear- now how much overweight were we? Around 250lbs and NOT the 2,050lbs these people claimed. If they try and tell you that you are over demand a reweigh, if my husband wasn't as pushy as he was to get a reweigh we would've paid these scammers over In response to Heidi- your weights aren't accurate because one minute you tell us our weight is 11,050 and when they reweigh it, it's 10,500lbs. Hired them for them again after dozens of professional moves by Island Movers and this last move, a couple of months ago, was BY FAR the Worst EVER move possibly imaginable. We're not emotionally over what me and my husband experienced so I can't say a lot right now but I'll be back when I'm less traumatized. In short: RUDE, beyond belief from the moment arrived and well past the time anyone should have still been in our new unit. Damaged and scratched furniture/art; particularly our only two furniture items of value even after we requested proper handling. For moving, these guys are top notch. I have friends who have had great experience with their moving. Their delivery side needs work on their communication. I'll tell you my epic tale of unfortunate events, because both Home Depot and Island Movers dropped the ball on this delivery. Our washer broke and we needed a new replacement *immediately*. We went to Heom Depot on Wednesday night to get one. Unfortunately, the guy working there was by himself, so he was overworked, tired, and basically doing what he could to keep the line going. It took us 1 1/2 hours to get it done because he had to juggle between having 5 or 6 groups asking him for help. Home Depot right now has a shortage of available Washers and Dryers. They are switching suppliers and are running off of "extra stock" on a warehouse located in Kapolei. That means selection for immediate delivery was limited. We initially wanted to get a GE "traditional" washer but had to settle with a Maytag 4.7 cu "Deep Fill" washer with agitator because they didn't have those GEs. The associate tried to squeeze me in but could only find a spot for Monday. He said he'd call me back to verify if he can get it delivered on Saturday. Didn't happen, wasn't expecting it. On Sunday I did not receive a call telling me what time the delivery was going to be on Monday. I waited until Monday morning to call the third party contractor - Island Movers. It was 6 AM and their dispatch is supposed to be open, but guess what, nobody picked up. I kept getting kicked immediately to voicemail. I call their main number at 7:30 when they open, and the customer service lady was very friendly and understanding but said that number I was calling is the correct number, and that the only way I can get the "delivery window" was through that number. She said she will do an in-office e-mail to dispatch and notify them their telephone lines aren't working. I did get a call 30 minutes later with another friendly lady telling me the delivery window, and she did say they were having problems with their phone systems. She verified the time and I also asked her what number they were calling to notify. Turns out they were calling my relative's number and not me (Home Depot dropped the ball on that one), so I told them to let the delivery people know to *call me* before they get to my house. She said she will and we both said our byes. 11 AM comes around and my relative tells me they're on site - I did not receive a 30 minute call before they drove here. I had to rush home and then I learned while they were swapping out the hoses, that my old hot water washer supply line hose was *frozen closed* to the spigot. The guys tried everything to take it out, but it was just stuck there, so we just used the old line for the hot water and hooked it up to the machine while using the new line for the cold water. Since this is a rental, they advised I talk to the landlord about it. Don't get me wrong - that hose has been there for 10 years and it makes sense it rusted closed, but they had no problems getting the cold water connection out so I guess it was just bad luck, but considering the drama that happened before this I just wanted the silly thing to work. I didn't pay hundreds of dollars on my appliance and spent hours visiting and calling to be stopped by a rusted hose. Ultimately I'm able to use my washer but we had to deal with a bunch of really unfortunate experiences on both sides. Home Depot needs to work on getting enough staff and to make sure their morning shift staff properly passes on the correct contact numbers to the delivery company while Island Movers needs to have better communication with their drivers when there are changes in contact information. I called 3 hours before their arrival outside of the "delivery window" and they still did not have the correct contact number. Also, the end workers in general have been pleasant. The movers themselves were the usual big local boys and they were down to earth and cool, and most of the Home Depot customer support staff were good, this is the reason why I'm not leaving a 1* because the frontline staff were doing what they could, but general logistics and background communication needs work. I still wonder who at Home Depot gave Island Movers *the wrong contact number* in the first place. read more

Don't shop around for estimates for moving. I e-mailed two major advertised movers. Only Chantelle from Island Movers e-mailed me back right away and explained the process. She gave a quote via e-mail which was very reasonable despite the large appliances we had to move (60 qt mixer, 3 commercial ovens, a 3 compartment sink, and a two door commercial fridge). Chantelle kept us apprised as to the exact time the movers would arrive Now, let's talk about the 4 man moving crew. None of this standing around, stalling and talking story. Very respectful and friendly mask wearing guys. I really had my doubts about moving such big items. I was very surprised at the efficiency. They moved all the appliances without even a scratch. My Costco Washer & dryer. My fault, was delivered to my work 30 seconds away from my house. BUT!! After receiving confirmation the driver was on his way (no address confirmation) and would install and REMOVE old units they delivered Washer & Dryer, was supposed to setup the new and remove old machines. Just Dropped new units in the driveway and left. No contact, no signature, nothing. When I called the office they said, they cant help today, they need a new work order from Costco and they would have to schedule for another day. You would think a local company would try to help you out. But no. No compromise . Costco said they would contact me ASAP and reschedule to take to the correct address and do what I paid for. I had to do it myself. What a waste of time. Don't use this company, you may have to end up doing everything yourself even if you paid and hassle to get refunded. read more

The absolute worst delivery company Home Depot uses to deliver appliance, ordered a fridge couple weeks ago and haul away the old one, the 2 guys who show up came to my house and just open my security door that was not unlocked, they should have waited for me since they rang the bell. They refuse to haul away the old fridge saying the door is not wide enough, they refuse to help take down the door like Temco did, which was what i was expecting cuz we ordered another fridge last month from home depot. They said either i take the old fridge out to the door myself or they wont take it. So i asked them to wait outside the house and i have my contractors who were working at the house to move the old fridge outside. i tried to do it quick so i ask the island mover guys to see if they can lend us the tools they suppose to have cuz they should be able to remove old or new fridge doors. Not only they refused to help and they said they will just drop off the fridge at my door which is not acceptable. just for the record, my contractor was able to move the old fridge outside my house within 10 minutes. Had a great experience with two of the Island Mover Workers. They delivered a Mattress + Box & Also a Refrigerator. They had to climb our stairs to take it up the balcony door. It not an easy way up but manageable. The older gentlemen seemed very professional and had good guidance for the younger fella. I've never used any moving service before... ever. Moved from Mainland to Oahu. Big scary move for me. I used PODS to load up and ship. My stuff was in Mililani facility. Let me say PODS service was great. BUT because of my steep driveway and narrow street, I did not think it would work dropping the POD off and unloading myself. I figured have movers meet me at the POD facility and reload everything into their moving truck and deliver to my new house. I took a chance with Island Movers, recommended by my realtor. I got a written estimate. They got the city permit to block front of my house night before. Day of move, those guys showed up EARLY. Emptied my POD into their loading truck warp speed. Just as quickly, those guys moved all my stuff into my house.... FAST. NOTHING BROKEN OR DAMAGED. They got done earlier than estimated. They charged BELOW the original estimate. I just had a new washing machine delivered by this company. After delivery they - without my knowledge - took my old washing machine away. Unfortunately I needed the old machine as part of my home sale and wanted it back. I called the next morning at 7:00 AM - I had the drivers phone number since they called me when they showed up for the delivery - and got no answer and their mailbox was full. So they dumped my washing machine off at Hammerhead into a pile of other appliances. When I called their dispatchers essentially I was told that they refused to return to Hammerhead to retrieve my washing machine. In short "that's the breaks pal". Now two things here 1) I should have been told in no uncertain terms that they were taking my old machine and 2) I they should have been available by phone to correct this error. But probably the most astounding part of this was they told me this happens often! Really? Often? Bottom line: you're better off renting a U-Haul, stopping by the homeless shelter and hiring 2 or 3 homeless guys and moving yourself! I cannot more forcefully advise you to use someone - anyone - else to move your valuables. read more

They advertise $171/hr. I wanted to move a twin bed, a loveseat, and bookshelf to a condo 10 minutes away. They required a $150 nonrefundable deposit 1 month in advance to hold a date. They scheduled an estimator 11 days prior the move. The estimator sent me an invoice for $540, estimating 3 hr. I canceled upon receiving the invoice. It shouldn't cost half a thousand to move 3 items. They politely informed me my deposit, which would have gone toward the cost of the move, was nonrefundable. I had told my niece to call them for an estimate to move 1 heirloom chest from Oahu to Big Island. They sent her an invoice for $1000. She found Wiki Wiki Express on Yelp who invoiced wrapping and shipping the chest for $252. I called 2 guys n truck who charge $40/hr per guy to do the move. There r several movers like 2 guys n truck. Do NOT ever use Island Movers: They charge excessively. When I moved only plastic chests of clothing to Guam, it all weighed under 100 lbs. The mover charged $2000, which was paid by my employer. Do NOT ever use Island Movers unless you wish to spend more than your furniture costs to move it. read more

Friendly customer service on the telephone. Unfortunately, execution of contracted services leaves much to be desired. There is a disconnect between the people who estimate and schedule the move, dispatch, and the actual movers. What I thought was a scheduled move of large personal items from our office to someone's home one morning turned into a no show. Calling to find out where the movers were, my rep told me that the receiver of goods was contacted and advised of the change in delivery to the afternoon. OK! By that afternoon, again the movers were no show. Calling again to find out where they were, my rep had already left for the day and dispatch didn't know where the movers were...The movers were stuck in traffic on the freeway because there was a huge accident. OK! So I specifically asked dispatch to have the movers call our Support Manager for instructions on where to park and to meet our person that would escort the movers in our offices and I handily provided the telephone number. The next morning, there was a voice mail message from the movers asking for the very information I had specifically told the dispatcher to relay. Aaaaaagh! Thankfully, the large item was moved and no complaints from the receiver...However, all the stress and extra calls for me were unnecessary if there was better, smoother communication amongst the Island Movers team. read more

I got a new washer from Home Depot, delivered & supposed to be installed by a delivery company. The movers wasn't able to bring my new washer in the 2nd floor where my washer area was. According to the delivery guy the washer was 770 kilograms and because our staircase has curve they cannot bring the washer up. I called Home Depot and I was advised to just accept the package and they will have Island Movers bring it to the second floor and install it and haul away my old washer . They introduced themselves, asked for a quick tour and immediately got to work. I had many large pieces furniture to move up many stairs. My items had different dispositions but they handled every item correctly. There was no damage and their work was completed two hours before estimated time. They worked constantly with no breaks and were awesome. I couldn't believe their efficiency. Their estimator was also great. She came when requested and provided a same day estimate. I was about to die as he was talking so I had him put his mask on again but at this point, my anxiety had me ready to pass out! All three guys had no gloves, and no shoe coverings. We have used these movers several times. My husband is retired military and during the course of his military assignments we moved back and forth from Hawaii a couple of times. We never really had any problems. This last move was on our dime. I'm not sure if that was why everything was different or it was something else. I found our possessions to be very sloppily packed. They packed a laundry basket full of clothes (that I was going to donate) as is ... in the basket, not in a box, just the basket of clothes. They packed a basket full of garbage. There are multiple packers and one person to watch them. So a small bathroom garbage basket with garbage was sent from Hawaii to my new home in Arizona. The worst thing they did was how they packed my baby grand piano. They took it apart and took it somewhere else to pack it. When it came to my new home they didn't put any cushion (blankets) around the piano. It was resting on cardboard which was resting on the wood framing. So my piano was scratched. It even has a small crack in it. My husband thought that because all of the other moves had gone fine we didn't need the insurance. So they pay 60 cents per pound for damages. That didn't pay for the repair to the scratches on my piano. I'm not even going to discuss the other things that were damaged. Be aware that they can do this. Watch them carefully. Don't trust that all moves are going to be the same. read more

I was called on a Monday afternoon confirming a Home Depot gas dryer delivery on Tuesday afternoon. Well it's Tuesday night and we are still waiting. Any gas dryer bought in Hawaii needs to be converted by a licensed installer from natural gas to LP, so I had to cancel a scheduled appointment with a licensed installer on Wednesday morning. Called Island Movers several times on Tuesday to check on status and of course they were closed but was redirected to a number for Home Depot deliveries. Called and again no answer and couldn't leave a message because the mailbox was full. To top it off, there was no call from Island Movers about delivery delays. What's up with that? On the whole, the service was average. I had to be persistent with calling and asking for information, since I would be told they'd call back, and they wouldn't. This happened several times. They called me the night before my stuff was supposed to arrive and told me the movers world be at my apartment at 8am, so I rearranged my schedule to be there. At 820, I called since no one had arrived, and the office said they'd call me back with the info, and said they'd be there shortly. I called back at 840 after hearing from no one, and I was told they world be there st 0930. This would've be been fine with me if they had told me that originally, but they didn't communicate. I called to request a quote for services. The lady that came over was pleasant and efficient in her questions. She promised a quote back the next day. I waited 4 days, nothing. I emailed back and was told the job was more complicated so the quote was taking longer. No apology for the promised deadline that wasn't met. The quote came back a week late and it wasn't for the entire job. I called back, again no apology for the delay, or the quote not being correct. I used Island movers for a move from Maui to Oahu. Moving can be stressful. Island movers business practices made it even more stressful. Customer service is severely lacking, from beginning to end. I waited to write a review until my entire moving process was completed. I made an appointment for an in-home estimate. I had to take off work, losing pay for this. I had an 8am appointment on a Monday. 8:00am and no one shows up. I call them and then Im told he will be at my place in 20 minutes. It takes 20 minutes to get to my place in Kihei from Wailuku... so this tells me he hadn't left yet. Kevin shows up at 8:30 and does a quick run through of my place and tells me he will have an estimate for me ASAP. 2 weeks later, I finally get an estimate. 2 weeks is a long time to wait for an estimate. He apologized and I just let it slide. My estimate was steep for the amount I was shipping. Approx a little over a $1 a pound for door to door service. I appreciate door to door service though as it eliminates a lot of coordinating of helpers to assist, rental of a moving van and the cost of my own personal time. The movers actually showed up on time to pack up my stuff. Since my charges will also be based on actual weight, I asked when my stuff would be weighed. I was told that the scale is broke at Island Movers and that they have to use a truck scale close by the weight my items. This is starting to sound dicey to me. The movers used a lot of packing material on my items, which I was charged for, approx $315, but ended up with scratches on furniture anyway, due to the way the furniture was handled. My desk had what looks like rope marks on the legs and a table had a small gash. I finally got the weight of my items 4 days later. It was $210 more than the estimate, though I ended up sending less items than were in the originally estimate and using less estimated packing material. What was I to do? I just went with it. My items arrived on Oahu and were available for delivery 9 days after pickup on Maui. They state it takes 7-10 days, so no problem. Another issue came up for delivery. I called to schedule delivery and was told I would have to get a permit from the city to unload the truck contents. They knew a full 6 weeks in advance where I was moving to in Waikiki, and waited to tell me this when I wanted my stuff? Ugh. So very unprofessional. Once my items arrived at my condo, the workers began unpacking my items and treating nice furniture as if it was outdoor furniture. A metal chair was placed on top of my desk. I told them that it was going to scratch the desk and to please not stack my items to haul them up to my condo. Ugh. Incompetence. The kicker... as they were unpacking my King size Temperpedic mattress, one worker used a box cutter to speed up the process, slicing into my mattress! Unbelievable. I unfortunately didn't take out the extra insurance policy for my move. If I had known how incompetent of movers these people were, I would have purchased the extra policy for my items. What a nightmare. I will never use them again and encourage others to use another inter-island moving company. read more

Island Movers takes care of the deliveries for Costco Online. We've had to work with them on two occasions (once when our couch was first delivered) and again when a replacement was sent (and the old couch picked up). Everything from the initial scheduling to the delivery was great. I especially want to shout out the individuals who delivered the couches. Really friendly and great to talk story with. A representative showed up at my house on June 28 to take an inventory, then said he would send a quote in a few days. It's now August 1st and I still haven't received a quote.
