I contacted Island Movers to get a quote to ship my household goods from Maui to California. A representative showed up at my house on June 28 to take an inventory, then said he would send a quote in a few days. It's now August 1st and I still haven't received a quote. Amazing everything! The staff is professional and very patient! Moving is stressful but everyone from start to finish involved in my move was super helpful! Only in Hawaii will you find a company that will treat you like family and help you all along the way until that final box is off the truck! They have a lot of patience and will take the time to answer all your questions...even if you ask the same question more than once lol. I moved from HI to CA and recently used them for another move in HI. If I could use them for all my moves I would do because they treat EVERYONE like family and care about your belongings! What a pleasant experience! Stretch and Shane came to my mom's house a little early. They were so accommodating, polite, and very businesslike. It was very reassuring to us to see how carefully and accurately they moved our things. I don't think I would ever call them to deliver or move me but overall the experience was ok. I ordered a kitchen suite of appliances from Costco and the guys delivering my appliances were Tyler and Christian. Both really nice guys, but the first few moments after they arrived were not that good. I could see that they were not excited about the job of getting four heavy appliances into my house, which is up a hill and two flights of steps. Fair for them not to be excited, but I was hoping they would be more pleasant about it. Joking about the difficulty is welcomed, deflated or irritated attitude about it, not so much. Once they got rolling, huge truck parked, they were friendly and personable. The order slip did not ask them to take the old fridge away as I had requested, so we had to call Costco. Luckily, that got fixed, quickly. The guys moved a very large refrigerator (30 cu ft.), a microwave, a range, and a dishwasher up the hill and steps to my kitchen. It was hard work and they worked hard. The refrigerator measured just right to fit in the door and up the stairs. They moved the smaller pieces up first and did the refrigerator last since it was largest and required the most effort. They unpacked the fridge on my driveway, moved the four doors/drawers up to the correct floor first and then moved the bulk of the fridge up. They installed the fridge (needed water hook-up) and put the doors on etc. By then I had requested that they not take the old fridge away because a friend of mine wanted it. They agreed to leave it at the curb. That was nice. They also agreed to put the doors back on it and helped me put the plastic from the new fridge on. They didn't have to do this and it was appreciated. Just before they left my husband pointed out to me that the exterior, very visible area of two drawers had big dents. THAT'S NOT OK. I had also just noticed that many of our walls were scraped and gouged. Interestingly, they guys measured the doors and everything, agreed things would fit through ok, but then had me sign a waiver that said I was asking them to move my oversized appliance despite their better judgment or advice not to. The wording of the waiver was something like that. Essentially having me take responsibility for any damages to the fridge or the house. Ok, that is pretty standard but I asked Tyler if it was his explicit judgment that the fridge not be moved because it was too big and he said no, it was just a formality. With my gigantic refrigerator at the bottom of the steps and no way to personally get it up into the house, I signed the waiver. The strange thing is that the guys moved the doors and drawers separately, so the dents did not occur during the move up the steps. It is possible it occurred as they were unpacking, I did not see it so cannot be sure, but Tyler had not noticed them and I want to believe him but also just don't know why the manufacturer (LG) would send a dented refrigerator. I guess what I am saying is that I am unsure who dented the fridge but I believe it is possible it happened during the unpacking. Anyway, I have a brand new beautiful fridge with big obvious dents in it. I had to call Costco and LG and work with them for over two hours so the drawers can be replaced. As for the walls, we have to spackle and/or paint several areas from the bottom floor to the kitchen floor. Not the biggest deal, but it would be a lot better if this was not an added cost of getting new appliances. I don't think they gouged my walls purposely. We tipped them, offered them some snacks, coffee, and water and that was that. read more

Costco use these people to deliver our wash machine, the men who did the job just damaged our wall and washer. Had to make a complaint with Costco and have them replace our washer which delayed everything. We even called this company... nothing they never returned our call. So make this story short, we told costco not to send these people to deliver or we want our money back. Lack of respect for other people property. read more

In my case, after more than five years of keeping our moving and storage business with them (read: tens of thousands of dollars spent with this company), Island Movers had the nerve to hold my personal items hostage in their facility for more than $10,000 (due to their billing issues and oversights), which was much more than the items themselves were worth monetarily. The personal value to me, business files, family photos, personal documents, family heirlooms, etc. -- was priceless. Items were missing (stolen), broken, molded and badly damaged. Our experience with this company has been less than pleasant. We've been working with Home Depot, who uses Island Movers as their delivery service, and the driver of this company has been rude and unprofessional. To add a bit of context- our driveway is steep, and this driver refuses to deliver our items up our driveway. This would normally be understandable, except for the sarcastic and rude comments he makes when my wife asked him about it. Furthermore, we've had many things delivered by a different company with no problems at all. This same driver has delivered to our neighbor's place right across the way, so we've been working on our house for almost a year, and this is the only company that has given us a problem. To make matters worse, the driver left our home materials at the bottom of the hill without letting us know, so by the time we got home, it was drenched in rain, and this wasn't the only time that this has happened. read more

Not only would she not allow me to ask my questions she raised her voice towards me and spoke down to me as if I was not capable of understanding. Overall, the company is very unprofessional. Fabulous experience! Moved 65 year old furniture and lamps from Honolulu to Florida. Arrived in pristine condition. Not a scratch! What was truly amazing, is it poured for three days on the lanai furniture before it was packed for shipping. I expected black mold and mildew on all of the cushions. Amazingly, they were in perfect shape when they arrived. I expected 4 months for delivery, the furniture came in two. The cost was extremely reasonable. Extremely! Like, less than 50% of what I expected to pay. I was kept informed, by their staff, on absolutely every step of the way. From packing, to shipping, to arrival in CA and transfer to FL. This is a very efficient, honest, and high class operation. They were extremely careful with some priceless possessions, and I am forever grateful. My daughter and son-in-law used this company when moving from Oahu to the mainland. It started out well. The kids even bought the movers lunch and supper. Upon unpacking, the damage was incredible. Nearly $2000 in damages! One example, is my daughters desk. They took out a couple of screws and then ripped the wood apart on the rest of it to the point it was irreparable and only usable as firewood. The kids are in the Military, so they are told not to pack anything and that the movers would "handle" it. Mores the pity because the also lost sentimental items. If you don't care what happens to your household items, by all means, use them. But if you are like most people and care about the things you worked so hard to buy, stay clear of them. You will wind up with a pile of trash instead of your household. Good luck with your move. read more

In general, when it comes to moving companies, know that you will be scammed/milked with EVERY company, just some more than others. Especially if the federal gov't is paying for your move, they will milk every last cent of the max allowable charge. These companies know that most people moving will be reimbursed, so they find all sorts of ways to up the price. If you are paying up front and will be reimbursed later by your job, make sure that you don't tell them that. Make them think that you are paying out of your own pocket, to give them less incentive. I got estimates from several companies and this one quoted me about 5000 more lbs. (meaning $5000 more) than the next lowest bidder and about 6000 lbs. more than my actual household items' weight. The $$ estimate was around $9,800. When I inquired about adding my car inside the container, they said it would only cost about $270 more, which to me doesn't make sense, because my car weighs as much as all my household items. Me thunketh that they just were planning all along to charge me around 10K in the end, because they figured most companies reimburse up to 10-15K. I still think the company I went with overcharged, but it was less than the others would have. Even if you are going to be reimbursed, it is in your best interest to get the best bid/lowest cost because you have to up front the money, and most of these companies will require you to pay up front based on the *estimated* charge and not the actual. Island Movers told me I had to pay the estimated charge, even if I went to the dock and saw them get the actual weight and if it was lower. Huh? The people were very nice and almost apologetic when I did not choose them. However, there's shady action all around in this business. Advice for people moving in general: 1) Again, hide the fact that you will be reimbursed for your move, unless the bill is going straight to your company. 2) If you are paying, request to be there when they get the final weight before shipping. 3) Get multiple bids! 4) Always go with the lowest bid, because you have to up front the money and they can always add on ticky tack charges (i.e. we had to walk up 5 steps) at any point along the route 5) Prepack everything in your house that is fragile. 6) Tip your packing men, they deserve it. This place gets 2 stars, but, really, all the moving companies would get 2 stars from me. read more

DO NOT USE Island Movers! Poor Customer Service and Poor Execution of Move! 1st of all the estimation was way under the actual time it took the movers to complete the move. Because they charge hourly this greatly increased the cost. Also we moved a significant amount of stuff on our own after the estimator came but before the movers were scheduled....so I had expected it take less time NOT MORE! The movers were moving quickly and being quiet efficient for the 1st three hours and then lounged around for the next 3 hours. I swear little or nothing was moved during these hours. Next, they damaged several pieces of furniture (2 dressers, 1 night stand and a set of wood bunk beds) and completely demolished another dresser. The dresser they destroyed was about 1 year old and was $279.00. When I filed my claim for damages Island Movers gave me the run around. I promptly submitted the claim and followed up. I called to check on the claim status at least 4 times and after those attempts I finally received a call back saying they had received the documents (via email) and that they could not read the "blurry" scanned document. 1st of all I completed a hard copy version and submitted that initially (which they had no record of) and 2nd I resent the same exact scanned copy 4 more times and the adjuster claimed he didn't receive those. Finally, I yelled at him and told him I felt like I was getting the run around and that I would fax and email it once more. Magically, not only did he receive the email (this time) but it wasn't "blurry" even though it was literally the exact scanned document that I had previously sent. Finally, I received a letter highlighting Island Movers' limitation of liability policy. I am aware that I signed their policy but [wrongfully] thought that if they negligently handled the moved they would take more responsibility for their poor excuse for a professional moving company. As a result of all the damages Island Movers is "settling" our claim for $135.30 which breaks down to 30 CENTS per pound of damaged goods! Ridiculous & by no means fair or professional! Obviously, I could have bought the additional coverage they were selling but I really believed if they destroyed my stuff because of laziness that I would be properly reimbursed without having to pay for "extra coverage". Oh one last thing to mention....we moved Nov 2014 and my "settlement" check was received yesterday March 21, 2015. read more

This company scored high from the get-go. I filled out a questionnaire to begin and got an email answer the next day. When I called them regarding the estimate, the customer service rep was pleasant and patient as I went down my list of questions. We agreed that I would call them within 3-4 weeks to my actual move date. The estimator came and gave me an estimate very close to the actual amount, which is important to make budgeting easier. On the day of packing, four men came and packed everything I pointed out. They were quick, efficient, and friendly. I watched as all the boxes that the team packed were put into wood crates and nailed shut. It was not opened until it arrived at my doorstep of my new home out of state. Everything was uncrated and brought into my home. Not a single item was broken! Truly outstanding service! I'm so happy to have gone with Hawaii's best! read more

It's nearly impossible to find moving companies with decent ratings - no one Yelps about their flawless moving experiences, right? Several friends who moved to the mainland had good things to say about Island Movers so when it came time for me to uproot, the choice was easy, and Island Movers even came in at about $1000 less than Royal Hawaiian. Two gentlemen packed all my worldly possessions and placed them into the container - it took about 4 hours and went very smoothly. Now, this is where it gets complicated because I'm not sure how much was Island Movers and how much of it was the various freight companies, agents, destination movers and assorted middlemen, but communication went to shit as soon as my items left my building. Is my stuff on the boat? 3 days later: "Yes." Is my stuff in Oakland? A week later: "Let me check."...and so on. They delivered within the 6-8 week window provided and the only damage I sustained was a quarter-sized gouge taken out of my desk (no big deal, really) so this is nowhere near a horror story but the non-responsiveness of the various moving parties gave me a decent amount of anxiety. All I know is that for my next move, I'm going with a company that has GPS tracking of your goods available on your website. read more

Today three men came to deliver a refrigerator that I had bought from Sears. I was kind of leary because the last time I had a delivery (not this company) my cabinet and product were damaged. While I do understand that things happen, the way that these guys handled my product, delivery and set up, was like night and day compared to the last delivery company. So much more care and courtesy. They made sure the refrigerator was level, handles tight and even put back stuff that I had in my freezer that I forgot to remove from my old one. I did not have the best experience with them recently. Sure they loaded and unloaded the stuff properly. But their lack of Best Buy policy knowledge or their own refusal, they did not take away my incorrectly sized fridge. I had to jump through hoops with Best Buy in order to avoid the cancelation fee. Plus they were very hesitant to help with basic installation such as leveling. They essentially just wanted to plug in and leave. read more

These guys delivered a fridge we bought at Sears. Called the backup number an hour and a half before the scheduled Saturday morning delivery. I told them we couldn't have them come early because we had set up the delivery with our building office people. They called the other number we gave them and got a sleepy okay. Movers have a shady reputation in general. They always get busted on for maybe stealing or maybe misplacing someone's valuables. *shrug* I guess that's just the nature of the business. I needed to move (and quick), so I didn't really have time to price around. I also needed storage of my "junk", and big burly guys to move it. I emailed and Nina got back to me right away with an estimate. I waited a month before pulling the trigger, and when I did, things moved smoothly and quickly. Two days later, two guys were packing a storage unit for me and hauling it to their storage facility. They worked quickly and professionally. Three-or-so months later, I was ready to get my stuff and move it to my condo. They coordinated a pick up of more stuff at my previous location, and a consolidation of those things with my storage container, and a drop off at my condo. Everything went off so smoothly. I cannot believe how great my experience was with this company. I have to say that Nick (I'm sure that was his name) and Milton (I'm pretty sure that was his name) were so great at moving my things, placing them, etc. They didn't damage anything and everything was just as I remember them. Props to them, they are really the face of this company, and their positive attitudes definitely stand out! I'm so happy with my experience! Did a mainland online order of some vertical blinds assuming fedex or UPS only got a call from Island Movers saying they had the delivery--calling back took several days of trying to get an answer--finally got through and arranged delivery--sat home for the 4 hour requested block and tried calling regularly to no avail. Time was up. Called the main number and a nice lady tried in vain to reach the responsible department. Gave up and went back to work. No way to run a delivery business! Will contact the vendor as they always came through on other orders when not using Island Movers. read more

We purchased a treadmill from Costco; delivery was made via Island Movers. Much to our surprise, Island Movers not only delivered the treadmill, but set it up and made sure it was operating correctly. Hats off to Caesar and Matt for their timely delivery (on time and with telephone call to advise of same), their positive and friendly attitude and cleaning up the packing debris and taking it away. My elderly friend had to move to the Plaza which is just a few blocks away from her apartment. Three very nice men came. Eddie was the supervisor and I do not remember the others names, sorry guys. It was a stressful time for my friend and myself and these guys were so nice and patient and I wanted to let them know that their hard work and flexability was very much appreciated and they were very efficient and were done in about 3 hours. There was a mixup regarding the time. We had changed the time for later in the day because we couldn't get things up in the elevator fast enough in the morning as the Plaza uses it for delivering lunch to the other floors. The guys went to lunch after loading things and delivered in the afternoon when the elevation would be available. My surprise was when we got the bill as it was about $300 less that estimated. Also the supervisor was extremely nice and apologetic for the morning mix up. If you have to move ask for Eddie and his crew. They are full of Aloha. read more

Update: changing from a one star to four stars. It would have been five had I not had the original issues with getting a hold of Angelica and her falsely accusing me for not returning her phone calls, which I did 9 times with personal messages left with the staff as well as on their answering machine. She even called Home Depot and lied to them that I didn't return her calls. The designer at Home Depot even said it's funny how I returned her (designer) call immediately--I told Home Depot go on Yelp because I took photos of all the times I called. Bad business practice from that perspective and therefore I am gracious enough to knock off only one star. So why four stars all of a sudden? Well after calling the designer and having her relay my selected delivery day, everything went really smoothly. The call the night before to confirm the delivery timeframe came from a different lady on the staff (not the mysterious Angelica). The mid-morning of delivery the guys called that they were enroute and would be here in 30 minutes. The two guys whose names I specifically asked for (Noke and Lupeli) (hopefully I spelled their names correctly), were phenomenal in my opinion that they alone deserve a five star rating! They brought my boxed cabinets from Home Depot all the way into my home (no complaints about my walkway stairs). At several points they carried the huge boxes themselves into the house (not the garage). These are boxes for a huge open kitchen. I asked if they didn't have roller equipment and they said they didn't want to ruin my new floor! I didn't even say anything about my recent hardwood floor installation. They were very careful with everything that I am just floored that there are people like these two who are careful of others possessions. You don't know how much I appreciate that!!! They moved the cabinets in the entire time without taking a break working expeditiously and communicated with me when necessary. They were professional and appear to have a good demeanor. My cabinets were placed on the floor with care...no slamming etc. What more can I say? I'm pretty darn happy with the movers/delivery men. Now only if Island Movers can hire office staff like this they would have HAPPY PLEASED CUSTOMERS and BETTER RATINGS! Thank your guys for this one because I did not think it would go this well, but if have a very open mind and am the type to revise my opinion. read more

Terrible business. They send us an email saying that our shipment arrived and that we just have to call them back to set up a date. So we call them multiple times and no one answers the phone. We sent them a voice mail and they didn't reply. So we reply to their email and leave them our phone number to have them call us back. To make a long story short, they show up with no confirmation ringing on our doorbell. Luckily we were home. They said that they were trying to contact us but they got the wrong number even though we sent them an email of our contacts. Very unprofessional. People in the office have ONE JOB TO DO. DOUBLE CHECK THE CONTACT INFO! DUH. Also, in their previous delivery, they ended up wrecking a door knob off of one of my closets. COSTCO needs to make do with another delivery business. 2009 Island Movers picked up my belongings from Matson and delivered them to my apartment in Kaneohe. They set up the bed, but nothing else. They also told me not to call them when I moved in the future, as my building had no elevator, only stairs. 2013, I moved from O'ahu to Kaua'i. I called them for a quote to move my very, very little belongings (small, very small studio - had given away 3/4 of my belongings in Kaneohe when moved to Town in 2011 - another moving company took care of this move...very, very well) from Honolulu to Kapaa. The base quote was $969/1,000 lbs. The actual quote was $3,004.24. This was simply to pack, deliver to Young Brothers, pick-up at Nawiliwili Harbor, and deliver to my new home in Kapaa. I used another mover, setup the shipping with Young Brother's myself, and my fiance and I picked up my stuff from Young Brother's at Nawiliwili...took two trips with an SUV and small Toyota...that should tell you how much stuff I had...or how little. The total price I paid for my move, including shipping my SUV, was $1,750 with very, very good tips to the movers. If moving to another Island, I do not recommend utilizing Island Movers, as they are definitely not cost-effective, and do not have the best attitudes in the business. read more

Island Movers packed up my daughter's dorm room at UH at the beginning of the pandemic. We live in Seattle and travel restrictions to prevent the spread of Covid prevented us from flying to Honolulu to pick up her things. She finally flew by herself last week. Island Movers was so nice about everything from the beginning. They really worked with us, and coordinated with the University, and were very kind at a time when we were a bit stressed. [My daughter asked "why did I have all that junk? when she got home:) --the lesson we all learn when moving]. I recommend Island Movers. Professional, kind, helpful, and very fair with the costs. I bought a refrigerator from Costco in February 2021.  The purchase automatically includes delivery into the house of the new appliance and removal and disposal of the old appliance.   When I got called to schedule the move, I told Island Movers I have 47 stairs.  Dispatcher said no problem, they will send 4 man crew.  Two show up and never leave truck.  They looked at stairs and said they need a four man crew.  Two days later two man crew arrives with ginormous guy (420 pounds self-admitted) and they unload refrigerator.  Ginormous guy , playing structural engineer declares stairs are unsafe so they slam refrigerator back into truck.  Yes, as no one would be able to stand on same stair with him and refrigerator!!  Six years earlier a wonderful two man crew from Island Movers delivered the prior refrigerator which has same dimensions as the new.    After many times waiting on hold and talking to Costco Customer Service which insisted they must use Island Movers, Costco rebated me a measly $150 and told me to hire a mover.  The mover I hired when hearing about the stairs sent a four man crew of normal sized movers who did the job.     I am not surprised at the low Yelp rating and wish Costco, Best Buy and all the other stores who are contracted with Island Movers would read these reviews. Before the second drive by by Island Movers I checked the specs on the old refrigerator, successfully delivered by two employees of Island Movers and the specs on the new refrigerator and the new refrigerator weighed about 50 pounds LESS than the old refrigerator. I used Island Movers in August 2011 to move from Honolulu to San Francisco. They quoted me a rate and pretty much they were right on. I wanted to make sure I had 1000 lbs for the best rate. I packed 200 lbs more than I needed. They arrived on time and since I heard such horrible stories about movers, I had packed most of my items by myself. I left them the larger items (pictures, china, etc.) They were here for less than 3 hours and I had 64 boxes. Boxes arrived in three weeks and I scheduled my delivery - for September. I did not open my boxes until Jan 2012 and to my surprise only one picture glass broke and two pieces of crystal broke. Since I did not open my boxes until 2012, I did not file a claim. Overall I was happy with my service in Honolulu and San Francisco. read more

I used Island Movers to load a container for a move to the mainland. The whole experience was great. The Good I booked last minute, a week before, and they were able to get me in. I had a complicated move, container/downtown apartment/matson, and they were able to do it all without a problem. They were able to accommodate my requested moving time. They repacked items they though would get damaged in the move, they asked first. The crew that arrived was professional and very nice. They were very careful with all my items. The Bad It was a little pricey, that being said they did help me find ways to reduce costs. read more

Contracted to deliver our furniture through HD, braddah Robert and Harry made the most of a bad situation. 1. Delivered our range, refrig and washer, put em in place and I even did the, "no look", (but really you're just baiting them into doing a crap job - if they happen to be that type of worker), but they didn't bite. 2. Found out the fridge didn't fit through the door (other entries had just been dyed). Boom! They take off our door, put em in, put our door back. "No sweat, Boss." 3. They had to double back to pick up the rest of our appliances, Open the box, dryer dented.. Now they gotta go back and drop it off at HD, on top of the appliances that weren't ready in the morning.. That they had to additionally pick up. They hauled off our old appliances, came to our house twice, lost loads of time to things out of their control. If that was me on a Saturday.. I did not use this company (and now I never will), but I feel compelled to share my extremely unpleasant experience with one of the company's drivers. Last weekend, around 2 p.m., I came home to my apartment complex in Kaneohe to find my assigned parking stall blocked by a moving van. Not only was my spot blocked by the van, but the movers had also unloaded several boxes onto my spot. I got out of my car and politely asked the mover if they were going to be long, and he said it would take at least another hour and a half. I informed him that they were blocking my parking spot and, instead of offering to move the boxes and van out of the way, he merely shrugged, mumbled "sorry" and continued to unload the van. It's no secret that assigned parking stalls where I live are more valuable than gold. I had to search for street parking and ended up parking nearly A MILE away from home. I have health issues and limited mobility, so this was more than a mere inconvenience for me. It caused me real physical and emotional pain, which could have and should have been avoided if only the driver had parked on the other side of the street where no parking stalls would have been blocked. I think it's important to choose a moving company that hires movers wi at least a small amount of common sense and common courtesy. Island Movers is not that company. Update 1/31/18: The company responded to my review and handled this very professionally. Here was the last message I received: "With your additional information, our GM was able to quickly identify the crew member and take appropriate action. We apologize for the negative experience you had with our company and we thank you for bringing it to our attention." Disappointed in the experience overall with island movers. They have a minimum of 1000lbs so even if you only have 500lbs to ship, you're paying the full price for 1000lbs ~$1/lb. You are also required to pay 75% of the estimate up front based on a walk through of your house and if it ends up weighing less than that, they'll give you a refund in 10-14 days. The day of my move was what really upset me. I was given a window between 12-2pm the day before. The movers arrived at 12:30pm and the first thing they asked was if I had a microwave..."yes I have a microwave..." They wanted to heat up their lunches in my house which honestly isn't that big of a deal. A little unprofessional but I get it everyone has to eat lunch. So they heat up their food, look at my stuff, and realize it's less than half of what was estimated. They say they'll be right back after lunch and decide to take a lunch break in middle of my scheduled moving time...okay I'll be nice because I don't want hungry movers throwing around my stuff...except they take an hour and a half lunch and now the two hours I've blocked out to move have come and gone and all my stuff is still in my house. They come back in, haul out the boxes I prepacked, and wrap up my couch, a hamper, and one picture frame (those packing supplies costs $68 btw) and they finally finish 50 min later. At the end of the day I don't really have good things to say about island movers and will try to find an alternative in the future when I move my things. read more

We ordered a new, MONSTER, large, beautiful new fridge from Sears for our small house. Wife insisted on a major, epic upgrade from a little 18 cu ft to a beefy 25 cu ft, leaving me to measure all the 'pinch' points it must pass thru to get placed next to the stove: outside path, gate, front door, kitchen door and all indications camparing to specs were that the fridge will squeeze in, provided the movers can pop the door off (!) (cringe). Well we were scheduled for a 5-7PM window, and I left work early to move out the old fridge and get ready for the BEAST. 7 PM came and went, and I got a call at 7:25 saying "sorry we are on our way, be there in about 30 mins". OK, at this point I was already feeling kinda bad b/c it was another HOT HUMID miserable evening and these poor guys had been moving bulky, huge and heavy appliances all day, so decided to cut them some slack, plus i realized that we had probably made a bit of EXTRA work by over reaching on the SIZE of the fridge (hope my wife reads this ;-] ). Long story a little longer, When Siu and crew (didn't catch other guy's name, sorry) showed they were cheerful, not complaining, actually said "we had much tougher jobs today" and moved that thing in like it was a hippo doing ballet. Simply awesome, professional, friendly, and outstanding. They jokingly said that we were their 22nd delivery that day, and they had one more to go! I love a brawny man in a sweaty uniform, don't you? ;-) We recently purchased a large item from a local department store, along with delivery and haul-away service. The store contracted the delivery service to Island Movers, who delivered the new item, set it up, and took away the old item. Movers Gerald and Nathan were slightly later than the promised delivery window, but when they arrived, they were courteous and fast. I appreciated that they took the effort to remove their shoes before entering my home, and they got brownie points for admiring my dog! I would be happy to work with them again. I have a fabric printing shop that I just took over from my father. I am thinking about moving locations from Kalihi to Dillingham. I have four larger pieces of equipment that would require a flatbed. After a real quick walkthrough, they left and said they'd follow up. They email me the next day and said "they do not have the capacity" to make the move. What does that mean, I thought they were one of the biggest moving companies? I get the sense that it was more they didn't want to more than they couldn't. I guess they stick to the quick, easy moves so being a big company really doesn't help a person like me who requires a company that really wants business. read more

They said they would call 30 minutes prior to the delivery, but they called during the lunch hour and when they expected to get an answer and deliver the table. The driver did not assist in getting the tables into our office. Further, the attitude was that of a complaining nature and his general attitude was lacking. I would not recommend them as a delivery service. read more

Solo and Isaac were awesome. More than just friendly they were knowledge about what the were delivering and installing (washer and dryer). They really did go above and beyond my expectations. Very respectful too. Even though I have tile floors in my kitchen they still made sure to wipe their feet each time before coming in. Side note, My business partner and I were trying to decide on a new life and when asked about it, Solo had a very good idea about it. He made have found a new career. To sum up, others may of had a hard time with island movers but my experience was great. Thanks guys read more

Beware that Island Movers holds the contract for delivering appliances for Sears. We've purchased five refrigerators, four washers, four dryers, and two stoves over the past four years. Every single delivery- has had a hiccup- so this review is not one single incident but accrued over 15 deliveries over four years. 90% of the time we get told- we brought the wrong size truck- you need to reschedule the delivery. Today was the latest incident. Conveniently they don't open until noon,& delivery is scheduled 9:15-11:15. After taking the morning off to be present they are another no show, I'm recording the experiences. Four years, same local company doesn't record street requirement & gives SAME EXCUSE.
