I've been to other Mala project but this is my first time in the Greenpoint location. Mala project is known for their dry hot pot and I love the food here! For me personally, I thought even the little spicy was still quite spicy. I think my favorite toppings were the eye of round beef, pork belly, and lobster ball. I also had their scallion pancakes and xiangxi fried rice as sides

Mala Project is a great spot to come with friends to make a large Dry Pot bowl. You can all pick one seasoning (the spicy is good but the xtra spicy is too salty). Then, you pick all the ingredients you want to add! Overall, very tasty depending on what ingredients you choose. I'd recommend coming here for quick service and tasty food.

Big portions of foood and really delicious! The ambiance is amazing and really sets the mood for a great dinner.

Vegetable Dumplings - A round ceramic plate contains six green vegetable dumplings arranged around a small white dish of soy sauce. The plate is garnished with pink edible flowers and some green herbs. The setting appears to be a restaurant with a soft-lit ambiance, with a glass and a small candle holder visible in the background.

This spot has a great vibe and the staff is friendly and welcoming. We walked in on a Sunday and got seats at the bar. Maybe we didn't order the right things, but we felt the food was just OK. The scallion pancake had a great, crispy texture but was very oily and lacked scallion flavor. The vegetable dumplings were bland and weren't enjoyable without some kind of sauce (we like them with chili oil). For mains we both got their house noodles. They gave a generous portion and the flavor was decent, but again was lacking. Overall the food was bland, especially for the price. Nice vibe to stop in for a drink / date.

"Little spicy" dry pot with round of eye beef, fish fillet, enoki, firm tofu, bok choy, lotus root, roe fish ball, and 2x glass noodle - A large wooden bowl holds a spicy dry pot dish featuring beef, lotus root, bok choy, enoki mushrooms, firm tofu, and other vegetables, garnished with dried red chili peppers, green peppercorns, and cilantro. In the background, there are small bowls of rice and a dark-colored dipping sauce, indicating a Chinese or Sichuan cuisine setting.

Came as a party of 8 and got 2 Dry pots and 6 bowls of rice. It was the perfect meal after a long day of playing pickle ball at the park. Flavorful and we were all able to finish the food. Pricey, but ambiance was cozy and fun. Neon lights were a nice touch at this specific Mala Project location. Took a bit to get water but afterwards, our service was normal. The dry pot was cooked perfectly this time and everything was delicious. A good spot to try if you want Sichuan food in a modern space.

A wooden plate contains a mixture of cooked vegetables such as lotus root slices, green vegetables, and herbs, arranged in a casual presentation. The table setting includes bowls of rice, a can of soda, a glass of water, and small candles, indicating a dining scene at a restaurant. The background shows other diners and a cozy, dimly lit atmosphere.

This is a bit more on the expensive side due to ambiance and location but definitely a great date spot. They charge you per ingredient so not like the typical weigh by the pound kinda deal so it may get pricey. It was really good and they did have many types of interesting beers. Service was also great. Not sure if I'd return that often but wouldn't be opposed.

ML Dry Pot (build your own combo) - A person in a striped sweater is serving a stir-fried dish containing vegetables, seafood, and herbs from a large wooden bowl using tongs. The table has a bowl of white rice, a cup of tea, a teapot, and other dining utensils. The setting appears to be a restaurant with a casual dining atmosphere.

First time, had a great experience! For apps- got the peanuts which were solid, and the cold noodles which I highly recommend (we wanted a second order of it). Ordered the dry pot as our main course - enjoyed it. It was like dry hot pot. Favorite ingredients we got were the eye of round beef, bok choi, cabbage, enoki mushroom, and lamb. Also loved the cold noodles. Good cocktails too. Ambience was groovy and fun. A note- we shared our dry pot amongst two people, and had plenty of leftovers so if you have a party of 4 you could consider sharing one dry pot and then getting appetizers as well!

MALA DRY POT (build your own combo). - A rectangular plastic container contains cooked vegetables including cauliflower florets, broccoli, wood ear mushrooms, and dried red chili peppers. The vegetables appear to be seasoned or cooked in a sauce, with some visible sesame seeds on the chili peppers. The container is partially filled with a mixture of different vegetables, likely from a Chinese or Asian cuisine dish.

Okay, I've been to the one in the city years ago and I remember I said it will do if you're not able to trek it to Flushing, but you definitely don't get the same value as you do there. I was craving mala dry pot and saw they had a Brooklyn location, so I said why not and I want to say you definitely don't get much. This was like $30 dollars and only came with one to go container and one small rice. In Flushing the one in the New World Mall, would give you two rice containers and 2-3 containers of the mala pot for that price. Craziness and I also thought the squid would be like the one in Flushing where it doesn't come scored and causing it to curl. It satisfy my craving, but made me feel ripped off.

A wooden bowl holds an Asian stir-fry dish featuring meat, vegetables, and herbs, garnished with cilantro, sesame seeds, and chili peppers. The dish is placed on a table with a glass of water, chopsticks, and a bowl of rice nearby, indicating a meal setting at a restaurant.

My first dry pot! It was so flavorful and filling, just like your traditional hot pot, and I added all my favorite ingredients - quail eggs, oyster mushrooms, crab sticks. One was enough to share between two people if you add enough ingredients. I would definitely come back here for a casual hang!

Liang fen - A small bowl contains liang fen, a Chinese jelly noodle dish made from mung bean starch, cut into rectangular pieces. The dish is topped with chopped green onions and pistachios, with a drizzle of sauce. The bowl is placed on a red table, with other dishes and utensils partially visible in the background.

Admittedly I've found the music both times to be too experimental for me. Confessing that makes me feel like an old person shaking my fist or at least shaking my head, misunderstanding what makes the youth tick. But I had no trouble twirling around the dance floor to this weird experimental music after throwing back a few tequila sodas upstairs. A few times while here my friends have split up into the group that wants to go downstairs to dance and the group that wants to stay upstairs and chill. It's relatively easy to navigate between both vibes, which I enjoy about this spot very much.

When we saw "Water Tower" on the elevator we decided to press it. SO GLAD WE DID. We landed at the Water Tower and walked into a fairly empty space decorated with art all the way to the ceiling, filled with natural light coming in and the views of the skyline were out of this world. We had to try their drinks of course to enjoy with the incredible view. Though the drinks are $21 and served in a plastic cup that evening, I was NOT expecting my drink to be this insanely delicious. I ordered the inferno Paloma which they infuse themselves with- and it was true perfection. By the way, each bar has their own menu which is pretty awesome and makes it even more fun. Also, Axel is the most incredible bartender and we absolutely loved his creations. Later that night we ordered a custom mandarin margarita, with a spicy twist, and WOW. We had this place all to ourselves and can't wait to be back. Friday nights they have DJ nights and you can also book the Water Tower for your own private events which is pretty cool!

It is too bad Yelp doesn't allow half stars as I would honestly put this one at a 3.5 and am rounding up. But if you go with an expense account or trust fund baby, definitely get the scallops and the yellowtail pastrami because those two items will blow your mind. Our waitress pointed these two out to us and we're grateful for her guidance because it was spot on. Paying for bread at a Solomonov joint is odd. No dessert menu is odder.
