Our lunch special - fresh, fresh, fresh
John K.

Nice restaurant, plenty of parking, awesomely-fresh food, friendly and competent staff - we met for lunch and had a delightful time. Yes, we will come back

Sake and sushi were delicious!! There were good combinations and everything we tried was satisfying -- Saki Maki, Firecracker and Manny. The white peach sake was a good option out of several enticing ones. To top it off, the Valentine's Day velvet cake was sooooo good. As for environment, it's a small restaurant so it gave off quick lunch vibes rather than a sit down dinner.

Orange and Yoko

It was my very first time in here and I absolutely loved it! The ambiance is nice, the service is AMAZING! And let me go on about the food The Yoko and Chris just became my very favorite sushi for now on. The only bad comment I have it's that Google Maps is not allowing to do review for Maki Toki and so we couldn't give the 5 stars they deserved on there as well..

Jade Roll and Chris Roll

My fiancé and I went on a Friday around 9pm. The service was great! We ordered the crab Rangoons and they were ok, not much flavor. We also ordered the Jade roll and the Chris roll. Additional I got the California and the Crunchy Shrimp (fried) . The place was rather empty but still good and tasty food.

Maki Toki is my favorite, hidden gem! I go here when I want more of a lowkey vibe without sacrificing quality. I've been several times over the last 4 or 5 years and I have been consistently impressed. It's never super busy, the staff is super chill and friendly, and the prices are hard to beat! You really can't go wrong with the sushi rolls, I recommend you plan on trying all of them eventually! I'm looking forward to my next visit!

Cute little ducked off cozy spot. Delicious options and free appetizers with the purchase of 2 rolls. The sushi was good a little bland but fresh. The calamari was dry AF! Over cooked but surly really good lol... kinda like a jerky... not sure that's what they were going for but I liked it the service was great, very friendly staff (I think they were the owners) will definitely return to try the other options.

Tima Roll, Miso soup, seaweed salad

So yummy!! I got the Tima roll, the crunchy shrimp - not fried (pictured) and the firecracker but we subbed crab! All so yummy!! The Tima was my favorite. Shrimp friend rice also had a great flavor, I could smell it while it was being cooked. I got a small miso & seaweed salad. Both hits! I love that they're open till 11. And Tima our waitress was super helpful and sweet. We'll definitely be back.

My husband and I had such high hopes for this place, as the pictures looked good and it's pretty close to home. However, everything was so disappointing. When we walked in, we noticed that there weren't but two other people there, at 6PM, but it was a Wednesday, so we thought maybe thats why. We were greeted by the waitress, and asked if we could sit at the bar. She told us that was allowed because of "Covid". Okay, no problem, we sat in a booth. We then began looking over the menu, which is structured really poorly, does not have good descriptions of the rolls, and is not even in alphabetical order so you can find them easily, from what's on the happy hour menu. It was such a mess. We ordered 3 rolls and when they came out they looked so sloppy and messy. They all fell apart when trying to eat them. And the wasabi was so old it wasn't even spicy anymore. The Rainbow roll, which is normally my favorite was a joke. The fish on top was so thin and tasteless. It looked and tasted like it was all frozen. I then ordered a spicy scallop roll and when I took my first bite it tasted rotten and old. I of course sent it back in fear of food poisoning. By this time my husband and I both realized that the waitress and the 'chef' were now maskless.. which begs the question on why we couldn't sit at the bar if they are sooo worried about covid? Bottom line, this place needs a lot of work to be considered a sushi restaurant. We will not be back, and do not recommend to anyone.

Service was fine but the fried rice was just not very good. Sushi rolls were okay. Definitely no where near "authentic" sushi.

The intimate, speakeasy setting is such a vibe! Hidden behind a bookcase tucked away in Holey Moley, Chef Saine and his small team bring you an incredible 14-course experience with top-tier ingredients sourced directly from local farmers in Japan. With only 6 seats per session, this is a cozy experience and one I definitely could not recommend more. QUICK FACTS: - Parking? Yes, located in East Austin, there is plenty of street parking. - Reservations can be tricky to land, but you can grab weeknight ones if you're flexible. - Pricing is about $170/person, with the option to add on drinks and extra bites (3 extra for $45/person). Tax and tip not included. My favorite bites were the maguro blue fin (an incredible start to the night!), the buttery Kanpachi amberjack, and the Wagyu ribeye with salted egg yolk (steak and eggs). Everything is stellar, and the Belgium chocolate ice cream finish with a little serenading from Chef is a great way to wrap up the experience. Service is top notch!

The omakase is beautifully orchestrated by Chef Saine Wong. Each bite more delectable than the last. What a wonderful, special meal. No notes. Both of the sandos were perfect. The wagyu beef sando had a little bit more flavor but it was slight and both are worth trying. Every roll was enjoyable and I felt like each had a little twist that really made the flavors explosive, like a shaved onion or a crispy puff on the side of the roll. The service was stellar and they were easy to book on OpenTable I also tried the green tea mocktail and found it to be light and refreshing and I was happy that it wasn't super sweet My two favorite items were: 1. The Edamame - which were charred in a way that I feel like I've never experienced it before and had such great flavor. 2. The scallop roll had a thinly sliced shaved truffle on top that made the roll simple yet out of this world. Shout out to the manager who came by just to check in. I particularly went there on a Wednesday to try their A5 Wagyu sandwich, but because I hadn't been there in so long, I wanted to have all the rolls that sounded so amazing on the happy hour menu that I couldn't even get to the sandwich. Every single role we had was absolutely off the charts. They even had a Toro role on happy hour for $10 which was such a steal. The service and ambience was also as usual impeccable. Can't wait to come back here to try the sandwich on another Wednesday

It was a dreary Friday afternoon but you could not tll that from the folks sitting at the bar enjoying their lives in Uchiko. From the moment we sat at the bar, our bartender was so friendly and welcoming. He gave us a copy of the lunch menu and then I realized why this spot was the spot to have a long Friday lunch. There are awesome lunch specials and a lunchtime happy hour. There is nothing quite like being on vacation, ordering amazing sushi, and pairing it with a delicious wine that costs $5 with one of your girlfriends - like truly, that is the good life. Our bartender hooked us up with a surprise order of 4 different nigiri - all were awesome. He even sent us a savory mushroom skewer and a complimentary dessert. We had originally wanted their Kinoko nigiri but it's only on the dinner menu which is why he sent us something similar from the lunch menu. I got to try the white wine on the lunch menu as well as the lychee martini (just $7). Since it was raining, we got "stuck" in Uchiko for quite the long lunch, but it was absolutely fabulous. The food quality is incredible. I will dream about the Hamachi Chili forever and must get myself to the Miami location ASAP!

So good the chili flavor is nice and has depth to it and not very spicy. The plum flavor was very distinct. But based on personal preference liked the hamachi more Ora king salmon- 4.7/5- very good the lemon flavor was so nice. The only thing is i felt the nigiris had too much wasabi at the end and the sizes are quite tiny Salmon toro (belly)- 4.7/5- really good. Same as above a little too much wasabi at the end and small size. Like the ora king more Hamachi Apple- 5/5 nice sweetness in the beginning from the apple and then a little bit of spice later on. Really enjoyed this one a lot lighter Kudamono 3/5- the banana is interesting and pleasant in texture but i would say overall compared to the other rolls.
