Major Dumpling is a great spot for XLB. Honestly, this outshines other "major" dumpling spots with long lines. We enjoyed this more so than the two big ones from South Coast Plaza and were stunned by the quality of their food here. We enjoyed every bite. We couldn't find a flaw in any of their dishes. Each dish was flavorful and you just couldn't get enough. The serving size is generous too. You really get your moneys worth here. The service here is excellent too. They only had one server here when we visited but she gave great service to everyone in the restaurant. She was attentive and very hospitable which made our experience even more pleasant. The place is fairly small and the overall aesthetics of the restaurant is fine. You're here for the food, not the ambiance. Skip those long lines and go here instead. First time coming here, which was near closing time, and my friend was craving soup, which they had. I, on the other hand, was down for whatever and wanted to try the mapo tofu, which I had never had before but had heard good things about, as well as the scallion pancake. Been a long time customer, returning more often recently due to the new variety in thier menu. Overall they have up thier game with thier staple dumplings, the dumplings are more flavorful and the portion sizes remain fair for the cost. The noodle dishes have improved in flavor. They now have basic Chinese American dishes like Orange Chicken and Kung Pao Chicken. We came at 6pm on a Saturday night and there was a constant stream of phone orders and I can understand why after eating here. Everything was so good. My kids wanted the beef noodle soup, but spicy was the only option. The kind wait staff said they could swap out the broth with non spicy chicken broth. It turned out better than I imagined. The chicken broth was savory and the beef slices were very tender. We loved everything else we ordered that included the pan fried chicken dumplings, cold shredded potato salad, eggplant, spicy wontons, pancake, kung pao chicken, and green beans. More like 3.6473 stars. Major Dumplings occupies the loneliest corner of this plaza. In fact, it occupies the former Pizza Hut (RIP) space. Unless you seek it out, you wouldn't know it's there. My mom, sister, and I recently lunched here. We shared the following: -cucumber salad ($4.50) -lao gan ma fried noodle with prime beef ($13.50) -pork potstickers ($10.50 for 8 pcs) -wonton in spicy sauce ($10.50 for 8 pcs) Our server recommended the lao gan fried noodles and that coincidentally was the tastiest thing we tried. The noodles are tossed with your choice of protein, cabbage, and julienned carrots. The noodles weren't overly dressed or seasoned but they did have a very nice wok taste to them. The dumpling situation was very mid considering its namesake. While the potstickers and wontons are generously sized, the filling lacked flavor. What you end up with is a very large, yet bland, dumpling. Also note that wonton in spicy sauce here is very different than spicy wontons elsewhere. These wontons were swimming in a pool of Szechuan sauce hence "wonton in spicy sauce." I'll have to try their soup dumplings next time. The Major Dumplings is a nice addition to the Diamond Bar dining scene. I'll be back to try other food items from their expansive menu. read more

Finally came in and got a few things, even had two soup dumplings just cause! I'd been missing meat in this vegetarian diet, but the two dumplings were.. really not worth breaking the lifestyle for. It's no Ding Tai Fung and there's no vegetarian ones. The cucumber salad was a little too sour and not enough cilantro. Or any cilantro. Or garlic. But nice as pickles. But the Mapo tofu was the most disappointing.. i used to love this dish and would only eat this back when even black pepper was considered 'too spicy' for me. Mapo tofu with rice is the best. But their version was just mild tofu in thickened sauce. No fermented beans or spiciness. Very little flavor and did not make me want more rice. The scallion pancakes were ok. Greasy but ok. Major dumplings has quickly become our go to for to-go dumplings. It's one of the few places in Diamond Bar to get dumplings that I've tried so far. Some of the notable dishes worth ordering again and again have been scallion pancakes, wontons in spicy sauce, dan dan noodles, sautéed string beans, and cucumber salad. Things you could probably do without ordering: wonton soup and fried rice both lacked depth of flavor and were just ok. I would say the prices are fair given the economy. But I also think if you drive further you can find something better for the same price. For the convenience and ease of the place, we keep coming back when we're pressed on time or looking for a quick dinner. I've only ever done take out from here and haven't ran into any issues yet. I came here in search of a new dumpling place near our house, and was very disappointed with our XLB. I don't know if it was just because we ordered it to go, or if this is a common issue, but none of our xiao long baos had any soup in it. After I inspected all of them, you can tell in the photo that most of them came ripped so all the soup was gone, but even the dumplings that were fully intact did not have a single drop of soup. We found this new place on Yelp looking for a place for lunch. It's located in the old Pizza Hut location on the corner of the Bageloo Bagel Shop plaza. The store is super tiny and more of a Togo place then a dining in place. There's only about 3-4 total tables and definitely doesn't fit large parties. The owner was friendly and speaks both English and Mandarin. There is a free lemon ice tea check-in offer on yelp too! The menu is pretty small but focused dough items. The categories range from noodle/wontons, to dry noodles, bento boxes, steamed/pan fried dumplings, small plates and side dishes. They do have a few combo sets too with there dumplings/xlb paired with a drink. We tried: Spicy Beef Noodle Soup - The presentation was very clean and photogenic. The dish comes with thin sliced beef, with blanched bok choy, in a mild savory beef noodle soup. The noodles remind me of straight egg ramen noodles. They are not homemade but still cooked to ale dente. The soup itself has great flavor without being overly salty or over spicy. It's super mild for those afraid of spicy. It's NOT spicy for the really spicy eaters so you can add your own hot sauce. XLB: These come in the usual steam pot with 8 pieces per order. The XLB's themselves were super juicy inside as expected with well flavored pork filling. No they do not serve it with any sliced ginger so don't ask. Yes you dip it with the black vinegar you self service pour yourself that's on the table. Yes they are good and recommended. Peking Meat Pie: if you've ever had these in Taiwan or any asian restaurant you know what these are all about. These are thin pan fried pieces filled with ground meat. These were the perfect example of what a meat pie is suppose to taste like. The crispy is pan fried to a perfect crispy level, the meat filling and small chop scallions are perfectly seasoned without being bland. It brings you right back to the OG street vendors. Add on some hot sauce/soy and it's a party in your mouth. Pan Fried Pork & fennel pot stickers. These again were cooked and seasoned to perfection. They are the thin style served with a garlic soy dipping sauce. These are super juicy and flavorful with every bite. Takoyaki: This comes with 6 pieces per order. All i can say is this was the least favorite item. The takoyaki do have good size piece of squid inside. No they are not made from scratch fresh in store. These are 100% reheated so they were overcooked/too crispy on the outside. There was not enough takoyaki sauce to mayo ratio. All the right components but not a good execution. But not sure why they sell this item? Anyway a definitely skip item Overall a great hole in the wall family owned business that we will absolutely come back again to try again! Its a small family owned restaurant. All the ingredients are fresh and freshly maid dumplings and wonton are absolutely delicious!
