Bruh, imagine being completely sold outta food like 2-ish hours into food service. I thought it wouldn't be possible, so that's why we thought the closed sign in front was a mistake, alas it wasn't. The girl who took care of us was attentive, giving us recommendations and answering any questions we had. I had the Truffle Angus Fried Rice with Bone Marrow. The flavors meshed so well together and I liked that it had a slight kick to it. Tried this lovely new spot today and left with a happy heart and full belly. I had the iced black coffee and their signature Bolognese rigatoni--so good! The coffee was smooth and not bitter, and the rigatoni was perfectly al dente. The meat sauce was rich and layered--you can tell the chef really put thought into it. The space is bright, clean, and full of charm. Every table has a little blackboard with a handwritten positive quote by the owner, Kate. Each one is different, and you can feel the heart behind every word. Such a thoughtful touch! Our family stumbled upon this spot kind of randomly, but wow -- it turned out to be such a gem. First off, the shakshuka was everything I hoped for. The eggs were perfectly poached in a tangy tomato sauce, with creamy avocado on top, and came with a side salad that was actually fresh (not just some sad greens) and a crunchy slice of toast. Comfort food but still felt light. Then came the grilled steak grain bowl, and I'm not exaggerating when I say it was one of the most satisfying bowls I've had. The steak was juicy and cooked just right, laid over grains, roasted Brussels sprouts, crispy onions, and broccolini. It had that "I feel healthy but also totally happy" kind of vibe. And okay -- can we talk about the Sandstorm Chicken Wings?? Crispy, seasoned perfectly, and somehow stayed light instead of oily. We just had lunch at the newly-opened Pot & Wok (5.10.25).  I 'never' say this but, my dining experience was BETTER than I was expecting.  The lunch menu is simple and makes it easy to choose something.  We had 1) Grilled Steak Veg Grain Bowl ($26) and 2) African "Dan Dan" Noodle ($18).  The noodles were served al dente and had a very interesting spicy flavor to it.  African meets Chinese flavors, I guess.  The flavor is hard to describe in words, but it was spicy and tasty.  The steak was a hanger steak served on the rarish side, with deep fried brussels sprouts, broccolini and extremely tasty rice.  I couldn't tell you what was in the rice, but it was awesome!  Steak was tender and flavorful.  Everything about this dish worked well together.  Kate waited on us and I have to say the service was professional, friendly, engaging, conversational and attentive.  I'm guessing she's one of the owners. Overall, it was a pleasurable dining experience, the exact 'recipe' for what it takes a new restaurant to survive and thrive in a highly competitive environment.  Keep up the good work.  I have no doubt you will succeed. read more

The french fries came out burnt, hard, and overcooked. The steak was too raw to enjoy. The popcorn chicken portions were lacking and had more kale than chicken. Overall, the food didn't taste very fresh or flavorful, and I couldn't really tell what the restaurant was going for -- its Chinese Italian fusion didn't hit the spot as it missed all the marks on taste and quality. I honestly hope business here picks up. The food just screams quality and love. I have now been there twice: once for dinner and once for lunch, and I can say that I am still thinking about their dinner pork chop entree. I'm no a huge pork chop fan, but if pork chop was always made the way SamK makes it, I think I would be. My family: young to old have been impressed by their meal offerings. I have such confidence in this chef's ability, that I am looking forward to trying something new each chance I get to go back, before circling back to the things I've already tried! I know that the food does take a while to come out, and I have no idea if it's a one man show in the kitchen, but when your entree is served, I think any feelings of frustration that your belly was grumbling about, may give way to grace and forgiveness once you've laid eyes on the undeniable care that your food was made with, and that first bite of perfectly seasoned goodness. I love that the menu was very simple and easy to read, not overbearing with too many options. The dishes we ordered were truly flavorful and did not disappoint. The steak was cooked just as I had asked and the flavor was on point. My favorite dish was the bone marrow fried rice. I came here for Mothers Day with a family of 6. We got the African Dandan Noodle, Sichuan Fried Chicken Sandwich, Shawarma Chicken Bowl, Steak Veg Grain Bowl, and Truffle Mushroom Alfredo Fettuccine. Then, the server randomly hands us 3 waters for our group of 6 and just leaves.. like are we sharing 1 water for 2 people or? We just order through the phone and we then have to flag her down for more water. Also, we only ordered 1 cold brew and she gave us 2. Then... we are asked to move tables and they situate us less awkwardly. All the food took about 15 minutes to arrive, except for the Truffle Mushroom Alfredo Fettuccine. Look at the picture, my family is the type to wait for everything to arrive before eating... but this truffle pasta took nearly an hour to come out. Someone in my family already finished their dish! Maybe the chef was hunting for the truffle in the wild. To add on, the server never apologized or acknowledged that my family was sitting there and staring for that whole bit. She just came over and said "you're missing the Truffle Pasta".. no reason for the wait or anything and hurried away. After about another 20 minutes.. the pasta comes out and it's the smallest portion I've ever seen for $20+. Perhaps good for a casual lunch. The food is great, but definitely not worth waiting an hour for. We showed up just 30 minutes before closing with a party of 18, and the owners were kind enough to keep the place open for us. Even after closing, we stayed another 30 to 40 minutes, and they were totally fine with it really welcoming and patient. They catered to us thoughtfully, making sure every dish was great. We told them to take their time because we understood they were short-handed it was just the husband and wife working side-by-side, one in the kitchen and the other taking orders and cleaning tables. The food was actually really good! It's a cozy spot, perfect for chilling and hanging out with a good group. I hope they keep it up because this place definitely deserves the attention.
