Dinner combo two meat up charge. Chicken Katsu, and beef teriyaki.
Mel E.

Everything was perfect. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted promptly. The decor is clean and modern. The tables were clean and ready for us to sit down. Very attentive service and they came around regularly to make sure we had everything we needed. I will definitely be coming back and can see myself becoming a regular. The food was fresh and very tasty. The portions were generous. Don't hesitate to try it.

Horshradish

Ordered a PREMIUM chirashi for take out, so can't say much about the service. Ambiance is standard for Japanese restaurant - nothing extraordinary. Chirashi bowl itself was solid. They gave a nice mix of fish, the uni was actually of decent quality. Toro etc - definitely what you'd expect from a premium chirashi bowl. My only problem (and the biggest problem) is that they gave a horse radish pack? Like why? New establishment - had every potential to be great but decide to cheap out on wasabi? I can understand if its for those California/Philadelphia roll orders but on a premium chirashi? How unfortunate.

Lunch Special Combos

Every week for lunch, a coworker or I roll a dice to pick what is gonna be the restaurant we go to, and a few weeks ago, Hikari Sushi was what the dice decided on. We came here on a Thursday for lunch. This place took over the spot that Kamis Sushi used to be at in the plaza with Sprouts, Ace Hardware, Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf and Chipotle. The layout of the restaurant was familiar from the previous restaurant but the decor was definitely cleaned up and brightened from the previous place. Service was quick and attentive. We both ordered lunch specials, his was a katsu bento w/ sashimi and mine was 9-piece nigiri with a roll. Fish tasted fresh and were solid, thick cuts of a large variety, overall, I thought it was a good price for a lunch special. I'd definitely return here to give a try of more of their menu for dinner.

Revisited Hikari multiples time after my first review and always had great service and good food!

Seared Cajun Salmon Roll
Ai V.

I was looking for sushi around Diamond Bar and saw this new sushi restaurant nearby! I ordered the Garlic Chip Tuna Roll, Seared Cajun Salmon Roll & 20pc Sashimi for two people - had SOO much leftovers. The rolls are HUGE and taste wonderful. I love the flavor of the Cajun and how fresh the Tuna roll was. The Garlic Chip piece was the perfect crunch to the roll. Between the two of us, we couldn't even finish a roll, so we had plenty of leftovers. I highly recommend getting the Sashimi 20pc if you love sashimi- it's so worth it. The cuts are HUGE and there was 8 different types (if you include the krab salad). Our server was so sweet and accommodating. The ambiance was very chill and warm. They also have a lunch special bento box that I'll try next time. I highly recommend on stopping by if you're in Diamond Bar!

Alaska roll + combo B lunch special
Alyssa C.

Seriously can't believe I ate sushi two days in a row! What has come over me?! Haha their tuna was amazing and fresh and I avoid tuna since it always disappoints. Hope they continue to keep up the quality of fish as the months go on. My Alaska roll was buttery + savory and I enjoyed every bite. Their lunch specials are noteworthy and I got their combo b with choice of specialty roll. I also commend the aesthetic of the plating, menu descriptions, and cleanliness of the inside!

We ordered ramen and tokyo banana, everything was well-prepared, and thoughtfully made. The service was excellent! The staff were attentive, friendly, and made sure we were well taken care of without being overbearing. The ambiance is calm, clean and welcoming, perfect for a relaxed meal whether you're dining with friends or on a casual night out. Overall, great food, great service, and a comfortable atmosphere. Definitely a place I'd come back to.

This place is really good. I will definitely go back to try other items. It used to be another sushi spot before and I'm glad they decided to open another. It did feel a little chaos when they were trying to seat everyone on busy night but figured it out after waiting 30 mins with no reservation. We ordered and got our order pretty quickly with good timing in between each entree. We ordered the 12 piece omakase, shrimp and veggie tempura, and Baja roll. Everything was amazing. Fresh and delicious!

It's our first time here. We'll be coming all the time now! Great service, delicious food and beautiful ambiance!

Energy Roll - no rice roll option
Riz L.

We love sushi and okay to spend the money if the food is good, and this food was good. Spicy Garlic Edamame is probably the best weve had from any place. This was actually Spicy, garlic, and not sweet. The Edamame was made well. I had to stop myself from eating to save for the rolls. We usually get Sashimi or Nigeri but this place was very pricy for those (2 pieces for $18-$25) so we stuck with rolls. Cajun Salmon and Cajun Tuna were smokey seared fish, not really Spicy. Lemon Yellowtail was refreshing and tart. I limit my rice intake so I ordered the Energy roll and this was very good. The sauce added a little sweetness to the rolls. Fish were fresh. The rolls fell apart but each piece was very good. Service was great! All workers were very friendly.

We were staying in Diamond Bar while visiting some family and stumbled on to this place. Very impressed. Service was excellent, fish was very fresh the restaurant was very clean. Couldn't recommend this place more. In fact, im back in town the following weekend as I'm writing this and headed there now! We had the Karage chicken, cucumber & Crab Sunomono, Red Roll (no rice & very good), medium fatty tuna sushi - so good, freshwater eel - amazing bbq/wood flavor), mackerel, & Halibut. Everything was spot on and delicious.

Green tea mochi.
Valezka A.

My husband and I tried this place during the lunch special bento box. We were very satisfied with our order. The combinations were great and we got so full for literally the rest of the day! The sushi was exquisite with great cuts. I also ordered a green tea which came with a cute tea pot to refill my own cup throughout the meal. The decor was nice with Japanese art and some anime decor. The service was very attentive and kind. We definitely will come back and wish them well!

Miso ramen
Jason P.

Really great customer service and food was superb! Got the miso ramen and the flavor really hit the spot for a chilly evening. Really nice decor that makes it feel a little upscale, can't wait to go back!

I ordered their "Sushi and Sashimi Combination" from their Lunch Special menu which came with 6 pieces of sushi, sashimi and a half order of a tuna cut roll. The lunch special combo also comes with a bowl of miso soup and salad so you definitely get good value for the price. Service is standard, and there is a decent amount parking within the plaza.

The katage and teriyaki chicken was ok. The salmon teriyaki has a good portion of salmon. The sushi rice was too hard and the way the fish is cut is sloppy. We've had better at other Japanese restaurants. Like other reviews mentioned, the service is questionable. There were only 2 waitresses for the restaurant. When we sat down, they want us to order everything all together. We later added salmon teriyaki, they took the order, but the waitress was taking to the owner sitting in the back table in Japanese that we are not ordering all at once. Looks like the owner/manager does all the calculations by hand for the check so they don't want people to add on to the order. It's a small restaurant and a bit tight between the tables. Seems like a good amount of regular people come here and pick up to go orders. We are not regulars here so seemed a bit like an outsider.

I still enjoyed my meal and the service was very friendly and attentive with my water getting refilled several times. The fried food was nice and lightly crispy. The salmon collar was tender and a large piece. The baked lobster roll was too sweet with too much mayo. The sashimi and California rolls left a lot to be desired. Maybe it's because these are just the items that came included in a combo, and maybe it's because I didn't order the right things...but I wasn't too impressed given all the reviews about how this is the best Japanese food that needs to be discovered. I may be too spoiled by the higher quality sushi in South OC but to me the quality is more of a 3.5...but I rounded up.

What I appreciate about their sushi menu is that each order comes with one piece to avoid wasting food. Our favorite items to order are everything from the premium menu, Smoked Salmon, Ikura, Cajun Yellowtail, Cajun Salmon, Salmon Skin Salad, Rolly Polly, and Salmon Skin Skewer. If I had to pick just one from this list, it would be the Cajun Salmon. I cannot have enough of it. It's so fresh, silky, and has that perfect hint of smokiness. The food was decent, though we found both dishes to be a bit on the salty and greasy side. One thing to note is that unlike most Japanese restaurants that provide complimentary hot tea, they charge $3.50 per person here for green tea. Thick cuts, super fresh, and none of that fishy leftover-trim vibe. The sushi rice underneath was really good too -- not overly sweet or sour, just balanced. The other dish we ordered was the Sashimi Lunch, and again, super generous portion with way more variety than I expected. No shortcuts, no skimping.
