Friends invited us here for lunch a few days ago. They had been looking for a Japanese restaurant since moving to Diamond Bar area. We were warmly welcomed as we entered the restaurant. Interior was contemporary and clean. Great lunch specials offered . All 5 of us ordered the same meal! Sashimi and sushi roll combo for everyone and was enhanced with meat bento lunch * order the fresh house made horseradish side ! ( extra$ but with it ! ) Waitress was attentive and pleasant . Overall, a great new restaurant to try . They opened in January 2026. Please enjoy the pics of our meal.
Mixed feelings about Hikira Sushi. I feel it's just a nothing special restaurant. Formerly Mary's Japanese restaurant long ago, this places opened in January 2026. Had good reviews so we decided to try it out. It serves sushi and Japanese food. I typically rate a Japanese restaurant on 2 basic entrees, miso soup and tempura. If they get these basic Japanese dishes right, typically everything else is pretty good. The pros: Clean with big tables that give a family of 4 enough elbow room. Tempura and chicken katsu were fried just right. They got the tempura right. The chicken katsu my wife had was juicy and not dried out. The cons: Miso soup was decent. Like a 7 out of 10. It lack flavor like not enough miso. It wasn't salty which is good, but I also did not taste the dashi (bonito flake) base that provides depth to the soup base. Needed more tofu as well. The sushi was nothing special. The size of the raw fish was nothing special. It wasn't anything that stood out. The California Roll was also basic. Nothing special, not even sesame seeds. The rice seemed skimpy as well. Price wise, to me it seemed over price for the sushi for what you received. Nothing worth mentioning or exciting about this place. I also tried the Matcha Beer. If you like hoppy beers and IPAs, you might like it. I on the other hand prefer Sapporo or Asahi. Conclusion: Unfortunately, I had high hopes for this place and it just didn't deliver in my opinion.
03/10 stopped in for lunch special serving until 2 Warmly welcomed in by Cailin! We were immediately seated! Cailin was super attentive and very polite! My husband loves the yellowtail nigiri it's fresh and delicious very good cut and he loves side ponzu sauce! My hubby ordered the spicy chicken, rice and yellowtail roll and sashimi which was extra to add but worth it! Spicy chicken was packed with flavor and the chicken wasn't dry! Highly recommend! I love their veggie and shrimp tempura! Nice light and not too greasy lol! My daughter ordered the sashimi lunch special and the rainbow roll which came with the salad and she killed her plate!
This is my favorite sushi place in the whole area. Hard to beat the freshness, flavor combinations, and friendly staff. I love coming here for their lunch specials, which always have a great value, or for any of their rolls. It's always a good balance of flavors, spices, great fish, and perfectly seasoned rice. Whenever I crave sushi, this is my go-to place.
Every week for lunch, a coworker or I roll a dice to pick what is gonna be the restaurant we go to, and a few weeks ago, Hikari Sushi was what the dice decided on. We came here on a Thursday for lunch. This place took over the spot that Kamis Sushi used to be at in the plaza with Sprouts, Ace Hardware, Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf and Chipotle. The layout of the restaurant was familiar from the previous restaurant but the decor was definitely cleaned up and brightened from the previous place. Service was quick and attentive. We both ordered lunch specials, his was a katsu bento w/ sashimi and mine was 9-piece nigiri with a roll. Fish tasted fresh and were solid, thick cuts of a large variety, overall, I thought it was a good price for a lunch special. I'd definitely return here to give a try of more of their menu for dinner.
I was looking for sushi around Diamond Bar and saw this new sushi restaurant nearby! I ordered the Garlic Chip Tuna Roll, Seared Cajun Salmon Roll & 20pc Sashimi for two people - had SOO much leftovers. The rolls are HUGE and taste wonderful. I love the flavor of the Cajun and how fresh the Tuna roll was. The Garlic Chip piece was the perfect crunch to the roll. Between the two of us, we couldn't even finish a roll, so we had plenty of leftovers. I highly recommend getting the Sashimi 20pc if you love sashimi- it's so worth it. The cuts are HUGE and there was 8 different types (if you include the krab salad). Our server was so sweet and accommodating. The ambiance was very chill and warm. They also have a lunch special bento box that I'll try next time. I highly recommend on stopping by if you're in Diamond Bar!
Ordered a PREMIUM chirashi for take out, so can't say much about the service. Ambiance is standard for Japanese restaurant - nothing extraordinary. Chirashi bowl itself was solid. They gave a nice mix of fish, the uni was actually of decent quality. Toro etc - definitely what you'd expect from a premium chirashi bowl. My only problem (and the biggest problem) is that they gave a horse radish pack? Like why? New establishment - had every potential to be great but decide to cheap out on wasabi? I can understand if its for those California/Philadelphia roll orders but on a premium chirashi? How unfortunate.
Seriously can't believe I ate sushi two days in a row! What has come over me?! Haha their tuna was amazing and fresh and I avoid tuna since it always disappoints. Hope they continue to keep up the quality of fish as the months go on. My Alaska roll was buttery + savory and I enjoyed every bite. Their lunch specials are noteworthy and I got their combo b with choice of specialty roll. I also commend the aesthetic of the plating, menu descriptions, and cleanliness of the inside!
foods are fresh and yummy. have been here several times. I also loved the salmon and the ramen as well. The matcha and strawberry ice cream tastes very good
We ordered ramen and tokyo banana, everything was well-prepared, and thoughtfully made. The service was excellent! The staff were attentive, friendly, and made sure we were well taken care of without being overbearing. The ambiance is calm, clean and welcoming, perfect for a relaxed meal whether you're dining with friends or on a casual night out. Overall, great food, great service, and a comfortable atmosphere. Definitely a place I'd come back to.
This place is really good. I will definitely go back to try other items. It used to be another sushi spot before and I'm glad they decided to open another. It did feel a little chaos when they were trying to seat everyone on busy night but figured it out after waiting 30 mins with no reservation. We ordered and got our order pretty quickly with good timing in between each entree. We ordered the 12 piece omakase, shrimp and veggie tempura, and Baja roll. Everything was amazing. Fresh and delicious!
Overall pleasant experience at Hikari Sushi. It took us around 5 minutes to be seated, even though there were open tables. This was because the restaurant was very busy with only one server, so I dont hold it against them. The food was amazing! Everything we had was great. My party thought the music was a bit loud, although I thought it was fine. Overall, an amazing new restaurant that has an extremely cozy and interesting interior serving up banger food that at the moment seems a tad understaffed. Once those issues get fixed, easy 5 stars!

I was pleasantly surprised by how good this new Japanese restaurant is after giving it a try! I normally feel like Mikomae Sushi and Kyala Sushi & Japanese Cuisine are the more decent choices for Japanese food around the area, so I wasn't expecting much from a new place--but Hikari Sushi definitely impressed me. The sushi and rolls we tried were all fresh and delicious. Even the chicken and beef dishes were surprisingly good, which is always a nice bonus at a sushi restaurant. And I really enjoyed the miso soup! It had a nice flavor without being overly salty, unlike the miso soup at many other places. The atmosphere is another plus--clean, peaceful, and relaxing, making it a nice place for a casual meal or dinner. Overall, Hikari Sushi is a welcome addition to the Diamond Bar area. I'm glad I gave this new spot a try and will definitely be back to explore more of the menu! read more

Hikari Sushi located in Diamond Bar is a fairly new spot that has opened. Came here for lunch with a party of three and I have to say this place was pretty alright. Their menu was extensive with many different options to choose from. They have a lunch combo for I believe $20.00. They have rolls, sushi, and also sashimi. I got the 12-piece sashimi set and I felt like it should also have come with soup. But it does not. The pieces were small and some were alright-sized. The salmon collar that we shared was tasty but the service was a little long to get our bill. As it is for lunch some people do have to work and get going so waiting for the bill and getting it seemed way too long. But overall the food was fresh and tasty. read more

We love sushi and okay to spend the money if the food is good, and this food was good. Spicy Garlic Edamame is probably the best weve had from any place. This was actually Spicy, garlic, and not sweet. The Edamame was made well. I had to stop myself from eating to save for the rolls. We usually get Sashimi or Nigeri but this place was very pricy for those (2 pieces for $18-$25) so we stuck with rolls. Cajun Salmon and Cajun Tuna were smokey seared fish, not really Spicy. Lemon Yellowtail was refreshing and tart. I limit my rice intake so I ordered the Energy roll and this was very good. The sauce added a little sweetness to the rolls. Fish were fresh. The rolls fell apart but each piece was very good. Service was great! All workers were very friendly. read more

My husband and I tried this place during the lunch special bento box. We were very satisfied with our order. The combinations were great and we got so full for literally the rest of the day! The sushi was exquisite with great cuts. I also ordered a green tea which came with a cute tea pot to refill my own cup throughout the meal. The decor was nice with Japanese art and some anime decor. The service was very attentive and kind. We definitely will come back and wish them well! read more

We were staying in Diamond Bar while visiting some family and stumbled on to this place. Very impressed. Service was excellent, fish was very fresh the restaurant was very clean. Couldn't recommend this place more. In fact, im back in town the following weekend as I'm writing this and headed there now! We had the Karage chicken, cucumber & Crab Sunomono, Red Roll (no rice & very good), medium fatty tuna sushi - so good, freshwater eel - amazing bbq/wood flavor), mackerel, & Halibut. Everything was spot on and delicious. read more

New spot opened last week, took over former Kami sushi location. Renovated the space - open airy vibes, got rid of the tvs and dark decor, definite upgrade. Menu covers everything from sashimi to cooked food so something for everyone. Ordered the chirashi... got a better-than-average cut of tuna, a piece of salmon belly which is a pleasant surprise, overall everything was fresh... but weirdly also got a stick of imitation crab? Like.. strange thing to get in a chirashi bowl and I felt like that cheapened the whole bowl but it's fine maybe some people are into it? lol. Oo almost forgot I also got a shrimp nigiri. Shrimp was normal but the fact that it came in nigiri form inside my chirashi was a little weird but maybe an aesthetic choice bc it looked cute for the photo? lol. But that was overshadowed by the discovery of the crab stick. lol overall though will come back and try more of the menu. Food and service both seem pretty solid and the ambiance is good. Welcome to the neighborhood Hikari! Glad to have you here. Good luck! read more

This place is so good. The food is super clean, fresh, and delicious--easily comparable to some very expensive Japanese restaurants. The fish is incredibly fresh, and you can really taste the quality in every bite. The restaurant vibe is on point too--cool, comfortable, and great for both casual dinners and special occasions. The staff is unbelievably friendly and welcoming, which makes the whole experience even better. Highly recommend this spot. Once you come here, you'll keep wanting to come back. Definitely one of my go-to Japanese restaurants now. read more

So good. Everything tasted really fresh and clean. The sashimi bowl was my favorite -- thick cuts of fish, super buttery, and the uni and salmon roe were perfect. You can tell the quality is there. We also got a specialty roll that was packed with flavor but didn't feel heavy, and the yakisoba was simple and really satisfying. Even the shishito peppers were great. Really solid spot if you're craving fresh sushi. I'd definitely come back. read more

The food is amazing, the sushi is extremely fresh, the hospitality is amazing. The owners are very nice and friendly. Very happy to support them. The problem is we live too close to them and their food is addicting! We have had the Oysters half shell, my favorite is Toro, the Salmon belly, Uni, fresh shrimp. I am not a roll fan but my kids are addicted to their rolls. Especially the Energy roll. Trust me. I am picky about my sushi and this place is my new favorite. They are getting busy and full so I suggest calling for reservations. The place is very cozy. I must also mention that the Ramen is very authentic. read more
