My husband and I used to eat at this restaurant frequently, but we haven't been there in years. We had lunch there last week, and I'm so glad we did! I ordered Combination B with Tempura, Teriyaki Chicken, and California roll. My husband ordered Combination A with Sashimi, Teriyaki Chicken, and California roll. Both of our entrees came with miso soup, rice, green salad, a scoop of potato salad, and an orange slice. We really enjoyed everything! My tempura was crisp, not greasy, and delicious. We both loved the salad dressing. My husband ordered a beer, and he said it was the coldest beer he's had in a long time. We will be back again soon! If you are in the area and craving Japanese food, make sure to stop in!

I love this little spot. Always full of life. It's grown on me over time. They put out weekly specials worth trying, and the sushi is fresh. Service is decent, simple, and feels family-style. The flavors here are lighter than many other places, but that's what makes it memorable. Not heavy, not overwhelming--just clean and honest. They offer all the staples: bento combos, udon, donburi. Nothing fancy, but everything steady. For a small old town like Walnut, it's a gem. #LocalFind #JapaneseInWalnut #SimpleAndGood

Came on a Saturday night and there were still some seats left. A bit small, but homey. The sushi and rolls were fresh and delicious. Wait staff were attentive and friendly. Recommend you trying this place out!

It's been a long time since we come here. Older ladies were friendly to serve us. I have the eel bento. My daughter had the miso sauce with cod. Food was delicious. The cod in decoration. was so tender like jello. A bit too salty. But overall it's delicious. This place probably could use some update in decoration but it's still such a hidden gem.

Mixed tempura. Perfectly cooked. Not greasy at all.

We had such a great experience. Great customer service, clean, and great food. Made to perfection! We will definitely be back!

Great hole in a wall sushi place. Came on a weekday and tried their weekday special... it was amazing. Sushi is fresh, chicken teriyaki is cooked to perfection and the side dishes were all yummy. Will be coming back for sure.

Sashimi is great! Teriyaki chicken not so much. Portion sizes for the combo felt small but it was filling enough. Service was good though.

Trying this place with my whole family on a Sunday. This place is like a small mom and pop restaurant and we got there right when they just opened and they were able to accommodate my family with 15 people. They were so nice and made sure we were good. We ordered about 12 of these plates and it was pretty good and filling! It came with a small miso soup too! This plate was about $36 which isn't bad at all! I'd come back to try other food there!

Holy gem! Their nigiri deluxe is an absolutely steal. For $33.75 you get 8 pieces that includes 2 toro and 1 uni. That in itself is worth the price. It also came with a soup with a shrimp head in it. Every piece was super fresh on there and I dont like salmon eggs and they were nice enough to replace that with something else without making a big fuss about it. I appreciate it. Their fatty salmon is good, special salmon is okay. Its the same price so i'd rather pay $7.75 for the fatty salmon. My favorite piece is definitely the toro. Melts in your mouth like butter. Dont leave here without trying their desserts. I tried 2. Favorite one was the crème brûlée, that was chef's kiss. Fried banana with ice cream was good as well but i was too stuffed at that point. Its located by a vons, so bunch of parking available. The interior makes me feel like im in Japan. All of the workers were nice and i got my food super fast. Definitely coming back.

Review #1061~(San Gabriel Valley, CA)~ This restaurant has been our go-to take out restaurant because it is located less than 20min away from us. This Japanese served as one of the more authentic Japanese restaurants in the City of Walnut, CA., as some restaurant staff actually speak Japanese aka Nihongo. Food portions served here have been reasonable: a bento purchase can be big enough for two meals that is if you don't eat that much per meal. i get full just eating all of the tempura pieces since they were all deep fried. I especially liked the texture of all their tempura variants between veggies and shrimp pieces. Sauce: their choice of soy sauce tasted super light which made that a nice addition to the tempura pieces. We will be back again for another take out experience.

Authentic. Food didn't have the best presentation but it was delicious. Service was excellent - very traditional and seems family owned. Ambiance is on brand with an authentic Japanese restaurant with polite and attentive service.

Great local spot, quality and price is really hard to beat! If you do togo, make sure you call ahead. They typically don't do sit down 30 mins before closing so keep that in mind. Also now open late, offering weekend after hours menu!

The chirashi bowl is delicious! It comes with a multitude of fish and also with a fried shrimp head that they can make into a miso soup.

The happy hour specials are phenomenal and probably one of the biggest reasons I'll definitely be coming back because the value for what you get is actually really good. On top of that, the customer service was amazing. Jared was super attentive and kind, and the other gentleman helping us was also incredibly welcoming and made sure we were taken care of the entire time. My sister barely eats these days because she's on Ozempic, so we honestly didn't expect her to eat much, but she LOVED the food. I loved it too. Everything tasted fresh, flavorful, and satisfying without feeling overly heavy. What really made the experience memorable though was how they went out of their way for her birthday. They sang happy birthday to her, brought out a birthday hat, and made her feel celebrated without us even really expecting anything. Usually we're too shy to ask for birthday celebrations at restaurants, so the fact that they did it on their own made it feel extra special and honestly made her night. The only reason I'm mentioning this is because I think it's something that could easily improve an already great experience, but there was a noticeable smell inside the restaurant that seemed like maybe a ventilation issue. If it wasn't for how good the food and service were, this probably would've been a four star experience for me. But the staff really went above and beyond and the overall experience was still worth five stars. Definitely a spot I'd come back to.

You can tell they use solid ingredients, especially with the fish. They have a lot of sushi options, plus lunch specials and combo plates which are actually really filling for the price. Definitely a good spot if you want variety without spending too much. One of my favorite parts was the drinks -- I tried a matcha IPA for the first time and it was actually really good. They also have fun Asian-inspired cocktails with flavors like soju, ube, honeydew, and matcha, which makes it feel a little more unique than your typical sushi spot. Service was good and the place itself is clean and pretty spacious. Overall, it's not a super high-end sushi restaurant, but for a casual American-Japanese spot, it's really solid. I'd definitely come back.

I let the staff know upfront…read morethat I have celiac disease and asked if they could remove ingredients like imitation crab, eel sauce, tempura, and soy sauce from the rolls since all of those contain gluten. I even clarified that I didn't want any substitutions--I just wanted those items removed. However, they told me they couldn't do that under the all-you-can-eat menu and insisted that any change counted as a substitution, which would mean an extra charge per roll just to remove the imitation crab. That didn't make much sense to me considering it's supposed to be all-you-can-eat--I wasn't asking for anything extra, just to remove ingredients I can't eat. They suggested I order carpaccio or sashimi instead, but those options were more expensive and also restricted (for example, carpaccio was limited to one order per person). That didn't feel like a good value, especially since those were basically the only safe options available to me. I've been to other all-you-can-eat sushi places where they were happy to remove things like imitation crab, tempura flakes, and sauces to accommodate gluten allergies, so this was the first time I've run into this issue. Don't get me wrong--if I didn't have celiac disease, this place might actually be a go-to. The all-you-can-eat price is pretty reasonable, and the convenience of ordering through a QR code at your own pace is a big plus. However, if you have celiac disease or any dietary restrictions, it's a completely different experience. While there are a couple of alternatives like sashimi or carpaccio, the added cost and restrictions really take away from the value. Overall, it's a convenient and affordable spot for most people, but for those with dietary restrictions, it's probably not worth it.

It had about 4-5 pieces of uni, served in a very presentable sea urchin shell. It was light and very good. I can never pass up uni when it's on the menu! A nice feature is that you can upgrade to a combo for an extra $10, which lets you choose between California rolls or tempura. The food was decent, though we found both dishes to be a bit on the salty and greasy side. One thing to note is that unlike most Japanese restaurants that provide complimentary hot tea, they charge $3.50 per person here for green tea. The service was okay--the servers weren't particularly warm or friendly, but they were attentive enough and came over whenever we needed something.
