Eggplant with garlic sauce

Mandarin Taste is always amazing in all three categories: the food, the service, and the ambiance. We first discovered this restaurant sometime last year, when my Dad and I were looking for a new place to have lunch at around the Diamond Bar area after Sunday Mass. We were driving along Golden Springs when we saw Mandarin Taste, and decided to lunch there. We were blown away by the service. The staff were (and still are) nice, polite and prompt, and the food was absolutely delicious. We especially love the pan-fried noodles! Since then, Mandarin Taste has been one of our go-to places to dine at for lunch after Mass.

Classy interior of warm wood paneling and GREAT staff. Seemed like they were all family members, they were all that friendly. It helped that my host is a regular. "Greetings Ms. Jones, so nice to see you again Ms. Jones, seat where you like Ms. Jones." She had to tell them I am not Mr. Jones (haha). We shared 2 dishes, one broccoli with bamboo shoots. Wonderful, smooth, creamy but subtle sauce. Big winner but not a main meal. Other was Mandarin Beef, VERY tender. Will return if ever in Diamond Bar again.

I was told that this restaurant has opened for 30+ years, but I've never been to this place until recently. Pros: 1. The ambience of the restaurant is really Chinese, like the ones you see on movies. 2. Owners and servers are friendly and attentive. They do speak English. 3. I ordered the Kung Pao Chicken combination plate which has a good portion and you'll be full. In addition, it comes with an egg roll, friend wonton (maybe? not sure what was it, but it's crispy and delicious, and hot and sour soup (the soup was super good). 4. price is fair, $13.99. Cons: 1. I wish the Kung Pao chicken can be less salty and oily. It was not to a point you would feel uncomfortable, but it's my preference to eat healthy. Conclusion: overall i would give this place a solid 4 stars and will be back!

Solid 4.5 Stars Mandarin Taste continues to be a regular lunch stop for our work group. We're here at least twice a month, sometimes more. The staff is always friendly, and service is quick. FOOD: For lunch, they start everyone with a cup of Hot & Sour Soup, which is a favorite of mine, and theirs is one of the best. They also have a good Beef Noodle Soup. Over the last two years, we've tried so many of their dishes and like them all. Some of my favorites are Kung Pao Chicken, Salt & Pepper Pork Chops, Black Pepper Beef, Beef with Broccoli, Mongolian Beef, Orange Chicken, Chicken with Garlic Sauce, Kung Pao Three Flavors (chicken, beef, & shrimp), Three Ingredients Taste (shrimp, scallop & beef), Dry Sauteed String Beans, Spinach, Wontons, and the Pork Fried Rice. For vegetarians, they have a Homestyle Bean Curd w crispy veggie & tofu. Since we visit during the workday, we either drink soda, hot tea, or water, but they do have House Special Mixed Drinks that look good. It's a fairly large restaurant with nice décor and several areas to host larger groups. Parking is usually decent. Mandarin Taste can accommodate a small, intimate meal, or a large family/group dining experience. I recommend them to all my friends.

I have been eating at Mandarin Taste since I was 4 years old. Since when they used to have to polaroid pictures taped to the wall where you waited for your seat. Since the shopping center was a thriving place for business. I have been gone from the area for years now, but I came home over the summer and after a shopping trip at Brea Mall, I craved some Szechwan beef and nostalgia. Upon walking in, we noticed some small changes. The polaroid pictures are gone (mines was up there!) but everything else was exactly the same. Including the staff. They have of course aged as we all have, but I remember them in their younger years. We ordered all our old favorites. The pu-pu platter, chow mein, fried rice, and Szechwan beef. All of it tasted exactly the way it did the last time we had it. The consistency of this place is insane and much appreciated. The service was good too. I don't have any issues with Mandarin Taste and we always had great food and a good time here over so many years. Graduations, births, birthdays, and job promotions. All celebrated here. It made me sad to see the shopping center as desolate as it was. In the 80's and 90's, it was a busy place and again, many memories being there. I'm glad to see that Mandarin Taste has been able to remain and among so much change, they have been able to stay the same. Thanks for the memories. Please support this restaurant. You won't be disappointed.

19.Steamed Juice Dumpling(6)-(6) sooooooo good!!!

Wow. We really loved the food here. The service was great our waiter was very personable and kind. We couldn't believe it when he said he is 75 years old. He looks so young! We asked his secret, he said "eat Chinese food" lol. The food was delicious we got the Kung Pao three flavor and an order of steamed dumplings (perfect texture and full of filling). The garlic based sauce with ginger was a great compliment to the dumplings. Add in a few spoonfuls of the chili oil they give you and it's AMAZING. It was so good, although we were stuffed, we ordered another order of dumplings and took a few to go. Such a great place with great flavor, authentic food, and a calming ambiance. We will be back!

I am allergic to seafood (including fish sauce, fish flakes, etc). What dishes do you have that are not made with any seafood products?

Do they have a lunch buffet? If so, what days/times and how much is it per person?

I don't believe they have a lunch buffet (or any buffet) on weekdays. I do know they have brunch on sundays that lasts for 2 or 3 hours from open and that is $22 per adult and $14 per child.

Overall, charming, low-key, and absolutely not to be slept on. My partner, whose favorite dish is and has always been spicy beef noodles, after one bite officially crowned their Spicy Beef Noodle as his new favorite, dethroning Noodle Street after a 3-year reign. And honestly... Fair. The broth is insanely deep and rich, and the wide hand-pulled noodles are fresh, long, bouncy, and soak up the flavor like they were built for it. As for me, it looks like my hunt for the perfect Spare Ribs ends here. Crisp on the outside (which I didn't even know was a thing for this dish), perfectly tender inside, and coated in a sauce that hits every pleasure center in my brain. I'd go back just for this dish. This and the Braised Eggplant with Green Beans. The Honey Walnut Shrimp was another win: crisp, light, and not cloyingly sweet. We also tried the Cauliflower Dry Pot, which was excellent, and overheard the table next to us raving about their Lamb Dry Pot.

They quickly bring the dishes out after you order and regularly check in on the table and refill water. The dishes here are very good. Some typical Asian dishes but also some different flavors/dishes from the common Asian restaurant. The popular dish seems to be the Hot Oil Noodles. We got it with tomatoes and egg and it was really good! Great flavor and i think the noodles and freshly cut. Everything we ordered had great flavor. Portion sizes are good and the pricing is fair.

I've tried quite a few dishes here and honestly everything has been solid. I usually get the house beef noodle but this time I tried the braised pork noodle. The noodles had the perfect bouncy texture, the pork was super tender, and the bok choy added a nice crunch that helped balance the richness of the broth. My friend got the hot and sour chaoshou which was also really good. The dumpling skin was chewy and they were packed with filling. It's also nice that you can customize the oil level in your broth. We ordered the pig ears as an appetizer too. I loved the crunchy texture but the flavor was a bit underwhelming. The initial taste was mostly chili oil and then the flavor kind of disappeared. They have a lot of other great appetizers on the menu so I'd probably skip this one next time. If you're looking for a relaxed spot with consistently good noodles Mian is definitely worth checking out!!

We usually come for the Chengdu zhajiang noodles, but also added on some cold apps and they didn't disappoint. Although still very spicy, the tofu with century egg dish had a calming effect to it that helped relieved some of the spices. Service was surprisingly great for a Chinese restaurant, and they were both attentive and efficient. Would definitely return again.

It offers a generous portion of tender, juicy meat and springy, fresh noodles. "DELICIOUS!!" I arrived at No. 1 Noodle House (Rowland Heights) on Sunday (around 11AM). Parking is easy. The lot is big with many spots. Staff is very friendly and welcoming, but Staff spoke limited English. Fortunately, pointing at the menu was clear enough. The food took eight minutes and nine seconds. Fast time! As mentioned, the Beef Rib Noodle Soup ($16.50 - Mild) is wonderful! It arrived picturesque and delicious!! However, despite ordering "mild," the food has a very strong heat; I sweat nonstop as I ate. The broth is rich, savory, and spicy. The meat is tender, flavorful, and falls off the bone. And the noodles are hefty, soft, and springy. It's a wonderful, euphoric combination of flavors and textures. Concerning ambiance, No. 1 Noodle House (Rowland Heights) is surprisingly spacious with its tall ceiling and relatively clean surroundings. However, its walls and furniture look worn down with time. Some seats even had torn holes. Unfortunately, the music uses radio with constant commercials playing in the background. Fortunately, there's a gender neutral restroom in the back. Overall, I found culinary magic at No. 1 Noodle House (Rowland Heights). The food is fresh, generously portioned, and well-prepared. I left full with a bright smile. If you enjoy spicy beef noodle soup, this is a must-try! 5 out of 5!! "GO!!"
