The Wok is a Diamond Bar favorite! It's been in our town for decades and we all love it! I find it interesting that all the low rated reviews are people who live in places like Los Angeles, Hesperia etc... which is an hour plus away and they're coming all the way out here for this hole in the wall for lunch- sounds like they're full of it! The portions are huge, the prices are low and have only changed their prices a few times in the last few decades. I hit this place up pretty often and it's great for Chinese take-out for reasonable prices for either lunch or dinner. If you want to have a filling meal in one sitting, you can go for the personal bowls, but the combo plates are where you get the best value in my opinion. It's usually the same people helping at the front and they are very friendly. If you're looking for an orange chicken style dish, I recommend the sweet sour pork as that's consistently tender whereas the tangerine chicken I find can sometimes be tough. It doesn't have too much fat on it. It's a popular dish because it's sold out half the time I go. They're constantly churning it out, but its a bit of a wait if they're sold out. I have come here maybe three times in the past decades that I have lived here. But every time I do come here I was just craving some food like this. The lady here packs it to the max and you can pick two or three items with either rice or chow mein or half and half. I love the noodles here because I use red chili paste from my fridge to stir it in and it's nice and spicy. If you don't like spicy you can add some soy sauce that is also going to give you that saltiness. If you have it the way it is you might think it is too boring. The menu is on a brightly lit screen that looks like it hasn't been updated since the 90's. And if they did update it, they used white tape with marker to update the prices. I ordered the Two Entree Combo with Chow Mein, Tangerine Chicken, and Beef Broccoli. The Chow Mein had great noodle texture, chewy, and bouncy however it was overly starchy as it had a starchy aftertaste. The Tangerine Chicken had great tangerine flavor except there was a heavier ratio of batter compared to the chicken. Some of the pieces were chewy. Great savory flavor on the Beef Broccoli. Most of the beef was chewy and some were tender. Some of the broccoli was super crunchy, others had a softer bite to it. They pack it and I mean packed to the point where some of the noodles were dangling out of the box and onto the metal counter. Cashier used the same gloves she used to handled the tongs to handle the money. Good ol' slimy cash. Service was pretty good. Cashier was friendly. They are extremely generous on their portions, but be aware that they are cash only. Although that made it slightly inconvenient, it wouldn't be a deal breaker to visit. The orange chicken tasted perfect, the pepper steak was delicious, and the BBQ pork tasted well, too. None of the meats were overcooked, and the orange chicken breading was not excessive. ** I have to admit, if Panda Express were the standard to compare to, Wok easily blows them out of the water in portion size and taste - no hesitation at all with this statement. ** Ordering was quite easy, and I saw the lady working that night cleaning the restaurant and running the front while the cooks ran the kitchen. I got a 3 item combo and I was a bit surprised when the nice lady, very friendly btw, tried her best to pile on the food, which obviously didn't fit. She just kept piling them on. I opted for a 3 entree option ($7.55) and with tax + whatever, it's a little over $8 bucks which is relatively cheap. Because it was so late, I figured I had slim pickings and should optimize my options by choosing whatever looked remotely fresh: tangerine chicken (close relative to orange chicken), kung pao chicken + steak & veggies (because veggies duh). Well the rice was no bueno bc it was v dry from sitting out in the heap lamp, but the chow mien was fine. The worker heaped on mound after mound of food - in fact, there was no space left in the styrofoam carton for my third menu option that she had to get a separate cardboard container!
