This is a really good alternative to Kim Ky in 626! I live in Diamond Bar with my husband and we were craving something soupy. We stumbled upon NoodleMii on Yelp and it looked very similar to Kim Ky. I grew up eating these type of teow chew noodles so it's an all time fave! We both ordered 1 house special with soup and 1 dry house special. I like to mix and match my noodles so I got the wide rice noodles and the thicker yellow noodles. You can ask for both for no upcharge! The fish ball was SO soft and chewy. It tasted really fresh. They also give a lot of noodles. We both agreed that we preferred the soup variation. The dry noodle lacked flavor even though it was tossed in soy sauce. We couldn't pinpoint what it was missing. Growing up in the 626, Kim Ky and Kim Kee were always staples. I'd still make the drive out to Rosemead for some of the best Teochew noodles around, but for this area, NoodleMii is actually pretty solid. I usually go for dry noodles while my wife prefers soup noodles, so we tried both. Unfortunately, the dry noodles fell a bit short, but the #1 House Soup Noodle was definitely the standout and noticeably better. I found out about NoodleMii from going to Torotea. It's in the same plaza, and as someone who loves noodles, I wanted to check it out! They mostly serve rice/egg noodles with and without soup. If you're familiar with Kim Ky noodle in San Gabriel, they have some similar style noodle soups. They also serve stir-fried noodles and fried rice and rice plates, if you prefer those instead. I like their house bowl, which comes with shrimp, sliced pork, assorted fish cake, minced pork, and rice noodle. The soup is comforting, and you can choose egg noodles or rice noodles. I think their broth is not as good as some others I've had, but it's still pretty good. Prices are reasonable, and service is friendly. WOW! It's been a while since I've seen these prices for noodles/noodle soups! $10.75 - $12 for a bowl (decently sized too) is amazing! The restaurant was empty when I went and it made me nervous initially, but fret not! This is a legit good spot for a quick meal. The egg noodles are great here, not the best we've had, but we aren't in Alhambra, so expectations need to be realistic haha. The broth is the same for all of the noodles soups except the beef one is what we were told. I think they could've held back a little bit on the fish sauce (?) as it was very strong in my side broth, but not the worst! The toppings for seafood/meat was decent, they weren't skimpy and the noodles portion was great! I loved my dry noodles, but warning: some of you might think it a bit bland. It was perfect for me though haha. I'd order it again! The beef skewers were wayyyy too salty for my liking. So I deducted a star there. I've been looking for an egg noodle/ Hu Tieu place in the Fullerton area for a while but there are none so the closest thing was Diamond bar! What a hidden gem! The prices are unbeatable - $10.75 for this bowl of noodles. I love that you can personalize what kind of noodles you want so I opted for thin egg and wide rice noodles. The flavors were great. Next time I would probably get the duck instead because my one complaint was that the pork was pretty chewy and hard. Vietnamese/Chinese egg soup noodle places are a rarity now. We used to have a lot of them in the garden grove OC area, but they've all mostly died out. Only the OG Mi La Cay is still decent and only the location next to ABC market is any good. We tried another similar Vietnamese/Chinese place in Arcadia LA and their food was meh while being overpriced. Noodlemii on the other hand has the OG Vietnamese/Chinese taste that Mi La Cay once had while providing great prices in this inflated economy. Ive live in the SGV for years and my go to spots have always been Kim Ky and Kim Kee. Had a bowl of dry combo noodles here. I always order the thick yellow noodles or egg noodles. It had a nice "bounce" to it. It would have been great and a 5 star review if they could do two things. First, is make the pork a little less dry. It is not a big thing, but it would make it a lot better. The second thing, which is what killed it for me, is to offer the right sauce. Instead of having chili oil, offer satay, it's what makes the noodles great. I dont know if they read their reviews, but I am hoping they see this. It would improve the experience by far. read more

Since we were craving a noodle/rice dish place, we decided to give this place a try. Located in a simple shopping center with lots of parking, this shouldn't be too difficult to get a spot to eat. We tried several appetizers, spicy chicken wings (they weren't too spicy, but was super deep fried... reminds me of Indonesian fried chicken), the popcorn chicken (super deep fried here as well), and the beef skewers. Out of the 3, I would get the beef skewers again. The chicken plates were a bit over fried for my liking. Each came with the same sides of pickled veges and sweet/sour dipping sauce. The main dishes we tried were the wonton noodle soup, the bbq pork with egg noodles, orange chicken plate, a seafood soup with rice noodles, and finally a duck with rice plate. I personally had the wonton noodles... ahhh the delicious comfort food. Soup had the right amount of seasoning, wontons perfectly tasty with good chunks of meat and shrimp, and the egg noodle... mmm this is the dish I could eat every week. I did try the orange chicken (it's like the popcorn chicken but without it being overly fried), which was good if you like this type of dish. Then the duck was pretty meaty for which I wasn't expecting. Flavor is nice, oily, layered duck flavors. You can choose what type of noodles you'd like depending on the dish you order. The rice noodle is the pho type of noodle, so make sure that is what you want. It's not the thicker chow fun type of noodles. The broth for each soup was pretty much the same, so expect that as well. Service was good. The young lady was attentive and polite. She made sure everything was taken care of and was the only server at that time. She was almost graceful with how she served our table. I noticed that they had several take out orders here while we dined in. So if you feel like taking it to go, I can see this type of food would be perfect for that as everything can be separated and combined at home, and still taste great. The one star down is for the appetizers not hitting it out of the park. It was just a bit too fried and dry. Maybe I've been spoiled by the Korean fried chicken wings style so that might be it. NOODLEMii was suggested to me by a friend when I told her I was looking for a Chiu Chow noodle restaurant in the area. I looked at the menu on Yelp and saw that it's a mix of Chinese, Thai style food. Looked promising so my hubby decided we should go there for his Father's Day lunch. My kids ordered egg noodle soups - one with chicken and one with bbq pork. My other son got the bbq pork with Hainan rice. My husband got the house stir fry noodle with egg noodles and a Vietnamese iced coffee. I was curious about how their Thai food would be so I got the Pad Thai. My family said the noodles were not bad. I thought they did well with the Hainan rice and my kids enjoyed the bbq pork. The Pad Thai however was not great. It arrived to the table as a soppy, dark brown mess. No shade of pinkish brown in the noodles from tamarind at all, just drowned in a dark soy sauce mix. My husband told me I should send it back because it looked so bad. But I was embarrassed because I ordered Thai noodles from a non-Thai restaurant and it's probably their version of Chinese Pad Thai. I mixed in extra bean sprouts they gave for the noodle soup so that it could "absorb" or balance out some of the sauce it was swimming in. I would say it's more like Pad See Ew or soy sauce chow fun but with thinner noodles and WAY more sauce. On the plus side, the chicken was not dry. The Vietnamese Iced Coffee was not what we expected. It tasted like a powder mix - and sort of like that coffee candy you get at the store. Overall the noodles and rice were ok, but I can't recommend the "Pad Thai" at all. Stick with the Chinese items and you're solid. read more
