I've been coming to this food court restaurant for over 20 years. Back then, it was run by two Korean ladies and a Korean gentleman who did the cooking. Now, only one of the original Korean ladies remains. The menu used to be very simple, and my favorites were the Jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup), Jajangmyeon, King Dumplings with their special dipping sauce (a delicious mix of soy sauce and chili), and their sweet and spicy fried chicken. The only side dishes were pickled yellow radish and kimchi。 Over the years, the menu has expanded quite a bit. On my recent visit, I tried the pork cutlet. It was decent, but nothing particularly memorable. The portion was generous with two large pork cutlets, cabbage salad, and a bowl of rice. However, the salad was simply shredded cabbage with a very basic dressing that didn't seem homemade or unique. I used to order their sweet and spicy fried chicken regularly, but the quality has gradually declined over the years. Unfortunately, my most recent experience was disappointing enough that I don't plan to order it again. These days, I mainly stick to their noodle dishes and dumplings, which are still the items I enjoy the most. TL;DR: The jjampong is the best in the area, and I go to this place every time I'm craving it. The photos don't capture it well, because I know it's so good I ate some so quickly. Please look at the featured photos under spicy seafood soup. Food: I got the jjampong, tangsuyuk, and steamed mandu. The jjampong is spicy and has a fire taste from the charred vegetables in the soup. The seafood is perfectly cooked, and I really enjoyed how they peel the shrimp for you. The tangsuyuk was very crispy and their sauce is delicious, balanced, and tastes homemade. Their mandu is huge and filled with a pork and green onion filling. I got this order for take out. They provide extra side dishes and sauces for each dish as needed. I heated up the soup and toasted up the tangsuyuk. It still tasted so flavorful and crispy, but I highly recommend eating there. Service and Ambiance: The restaurant is tucked inside a Hannamchain. One man took my order and then cooked it. He was super sweet, making sure that he heard my order correctly. Within the Hannam Chain Market World supermarket, there are a number of eateries to dine at much like any other Asian supermarket. This one, however, has its entire kitchen out in the open where the cooks are cooking and the onlookers be onlooking. By the time we got there around 1pm, the few dining tables surrounding the restaurant were occupied. I ordered the SOBA, while my friends ordered the TON KASU and the NANGMEN, all of which are from their summer menu. We walked around the supermarket for about five minutes before returning to sit down at the counter. Kimchi and pickled radish were provided and cups for water at the dispenser were available near the cashier. Watching them prepare the food efficiently made the experience like watching a family member cooking at home. Cold soba covered in strands of seaweed came on a matted platter along with dipping sauce with shaved ice, onion, wasabi, and minced radish. On a typical summer day with sweltering heat, these noodles completely refreshed me. The soba's bounce and the lightness of the sauce were satisfying and unsurprisingly easy to scarf down. My friends and I each shared a little of our dish. The TON KASU was thin and crispy layer of breading with juicy meat and not overly seasoned, and the sauce it came with was equally balanced. The nangmen had thinner noodle in soup, and with a touch of mustard it was a nice contrast from the texture of the soba. This place is located inside of the Korean market. The parking lot is huge so parking is not an issue. They do go on lunch break from 3:30-4:30 (I believe). You place your order at their front counter first then basically sit anywhere that's opened. With the two dishes we ordered, they gave the yellow pickled radish and kimchi as side dishes. You can also ask for more too. Both dishes are definitely shareable if you are not starving. Champong Seafood Noodles- The flavor to this soup was great and it had the right amount of spiciness to it. They were generous with the meat and also the mussels. Overall, it had a blend of mussels, squid, onion, lettuce and squash. So if you enjoy spicy, this is it! Jajangmyeon- Black bean noodles- These noodles also tasted flavorful with small pieces of meat (not too much) and lots of onion pieces. This was decent but nothing out of the ordinary. I gotta give this place a great review. My family and I looove this place and have been coming here ever since I was little. Sure, sure some of the things here may not be the best quality, but it's freaking delicious! Plus the portion sizes are HUGE and relatively inexpensive compared to other places. If you're looking to support an Asian owned, local mom & pop shop this is the place to go! They are located inside the Korean market, Market World towards the left side of the building. They have a huge sign that says Combo House so you won't miss it. Everyone in my family loves their seafood noodle. It comes with a good amount of seafood and a huge portion of noodles and soup. However, my personal favorites are their jajangmyeon (black bean noodle), cold soba, and dumplings. If you come here, do not skip the dumplings! They're probably my favorite dumplings of all time. Been eating here since junior high until now. It's been 10 years and I am still getting food from here. It's inside hanam chain market, and it gets busy around lunch time (btw they're on break at 3pm, meaning they aren't open at the time). They have the best seafood noodle soup and jajangmyeon. Their noodles are rich in flavor and they give you a lot of seafood too. I took my friend there for the first time and he's been coming back for more. Also, you know they use good ingredients because they cook in front of the customers (meaning the kitchen is in the middle). The workers are all very sweet and kind. Combo House is located in the Korean market, and I stumbled upon it looking for the coffee shop that had closed for summer. Since it was 3pm, and I hadn't eaten, I was willing to try it out. I ordered the Korean Ramen, and I thought it was pretty pricey for what it's worth but still acceptable. The Korean Ramen was a pack of instant ramen with a small egg and a few pieces of rice cake. I was impressed that they made the spicy soup drinkable, since I often find instant ramen bases to be too spicy. The presentation wasn't anything special, and the side dishes it came with were kimchi and radish. I did not personally find them too tasty. It's a mom & pop business, so the food is reflective of that. Good portions, tasty, and reasonably priced. We had the ramen combo that came with dumplings and the udon combo that came 8 piece California Roll. Both combos were about $14 each - satisfying and more than enough food. Also came with complimentary Kimchi and pickled turnip. Good and friendly service. A few other customers had the black bean noodle and spicy seafood noodle soup, which looked really good. Customer service is always great even if they have difficulty in speaking english. They're all hard workers and fast. People must understand the staff behind the counter to really appreciate them. They have no intention of being mean nor discourteous. It's been a while since the last time I ate at this place. It's all the same except they no longer serve free tea, if I remember correctly. As always, I ordered the spicy seafood noodle soup (actually just the right amount of spiciness). It's still delicious and filling. The free endless kimchi and pickled radish has improved. Been lookin for a good Jajang spot that wasn't too far and wasn't too expensive, but more importantly, wasnt too far...and BOOM, I came upon Combo House the other day, and no, I've got my local korean comfort food joint. I had actually bookmarked them as a place to try, but never got around to it til recently. Thank you to the reviewers who mentioned that you go LEFT when you enter the Korean market, because it actually looks like the restaurants and eating spots are to the RIGHT, and it's a little deeper into the store and then to the left. Called in my order because I was ordering for a larger group (6 Jja jangs, 2 jjampongs, and a couple king dumplings). It was ready when they said it would be and I was in and out in a jiff. The lady who helped me out (assuming it's one of the owners) even boxed up my order to make it easier to carry out. The portions were definitely pretty big...my 8 items ordered fed 12 people (8 of them adults) and we had a full jjajang left over. It was exactly what I wanted and expected it to be. Both dishes are pretty simple and having had them so many times, it gave me the comfort I wanted. :) They actually give you kimchee and yellow radish, but most places I order at only give you the yellow radish. So don't expect sides, because you typically don't need them with these dishes. The dumplings (mandu) were decent as well, and pretty large, but I could go without them on future orders...but then again, when I crave jjajang, that's all I want. NOTE: The prices from the menu pics are out of date...I can't remember exactly now, but for sure the jjajang (black bean sauce noodles) and jjampong (spicy seafood noodles) are like $10 each, maybe $10 and $11 accordingly, but definitely not under $10 like on said pics. Service - It's a ma and pa shop, and said ma and pa are Korean and as said in previous reviews, speak broken English, but we were able to lock up a large order without any mistakes, so we were good. They were pretty busy when I got there, so I had to wait a minute while she was taking a phone order to pay. But she was pleasant and nothing to complain about on my end. Although I thought it might be a little light on quantity, I was surprised about the amount of food you get for less than $10.00. The taste was not too salty, and filling, with me taking home the ramen noodles and soup after filling up on the delicious dumplings. Mind you this is in the center of a Korean grocery store, so you would never expect such food here, which would easily be passed up just driving by. Sometimes you need to go inside the most curious spots to find a treasure, which this turned out to be. Even though it's not a five-star restaurant, the quality is still good and worth the checking out if you have a short lunch period. Black Bean Noodle - jia zhang mien - EHHHHH so eHHHH.. chunks of fat rolled into the sauce. the noodles are chewy and great but im not just eating noodles. literally nothing else i think. 4. Chicken - i think i asked for soemthing chicken because i saw an old menu on yelp. She ended up giving me a chicken and beef combo. Let's just say yoshinoya does it better. 5. Always have lunch here after grocery shopping here at Hannam Korean Supermarket. It's convenient for us, food always made fresh and hot here. Owners cater mostly to older customers, working people in the areas, obvious busy moms and dads. These are typical homemade comfort food your grandma, auntie, mom would make at home for you. You will definitely love and appreciate. The food are on the neutral flavored side. So you won't feel thirsty like hell after eating here. We love their comforting service here as well. The owners are husband and wife team, hand make, cook and serve their food directly from the stoves to your table. Just like eating at home in your mom's kitchen on the floor. CASH ONLY for orders $10 and under! This is a quick lunch spot inside an Asian supermarket, located to the left side as you walk through the front door. They are nestled in with King Dumplings, and offer many different types of traditional Korean comfort food. I opted for the jajamyun, or black bean noodles. They simply heated up the noodles in a bowl of hot water, and scooped up from their pot some black bean sauce. I was in and out with my food in less than 7 minutes, which was exactly what I was looking for! For me, the noodles were more than plenty. It came with 2 sides - kimchi and yellow radish. I usually go there to get to-go because it is open seating next to grocery shoppers and my little ones definitely cannot sit still there. I always get the spicy seafood noodle soup. It's the BEST one I have ever had. I crave it all the time. Spicy but very flavorful and good amount of ingredients. You can get it non-spicy too for extra charge if you cannot eat spicy. The fried rice and king dumplings are good too. Remember to ask for the dipping sauce! Service is OK. The ladies who work there mostly speak Korean but able to communicate with some simple English. We tried this place on a whim...but it was not it. As much as the people there were super nice, the food quality was not good and the jjajangmyun didn't taste like how it should at all. Let alone the jjampong which had a decent amount of seafood in it yet the broth was watery. This is the food court on the left side once you enter Market World. I'm not sure what happened to this place because this experience was nothing like the time I came before. I ordered 3 items which were the black bean noodles, seafood noodles (jjampong), and the ttang su yuk (sweet and sour fried pork). First of all the food took FOREVER to come. There was hardly anyone eating here and for some reason, it took about 25 minutes to get my food. The worst part of it all was that the food came one by one and the fried pork came LAST after we already finished eating the noodles. I don't know what happened to this place, but the noodles were definitely overcooked and the sauce for the black bean noodles is so different than before. When I had it before it was sweet and the noodles were perfectly cooked, but this time I realized the sauce is not sweet and more like spicy/gingery. That with the soggy noodles made this dish inedible for me. Second the spicy seafood noodle came out and there are hardly any seafood in this dish. The soup was mediocre and as I said the noodles were freaking soggy which made this dish inedible as well. Lastly the sweet and sour fried pork comes last, but for some reason I see our fried pork out waiting in the cold while they spent like another 5 mins making the sauce. The lady gave us the fried pork first where it was already cooled down and when the sauce wasn't even ready. This is a dish you eat with your main dish and the fact that this came out last, I just ate this by itself. Not sure what the hell was going on and this was one of the first solid meals I decided to have after coming down on my flu and it was nothing but disgusting and disappointing. I like here. jjamppong tastes better than hong kong ban jum, the soup is more creamy, and the flavor more strong. because the cooking way is pretty traditional Chinese style that cooks the spicy in oil with strong fire. The food is actually pretty good. I love to support these hole in the wall places that are small and run by mom & pops. The miss here for me is the crass cook. I had a the King Dumplings and Jampong as I was in a time crunch and decided to grab a quick bite. 1. King Dumpling: $15 for 10. Overall not bad. Lots of filling albit mostly cabbage but the flavor was good and the garlic soy sauce they give you adds a good flavor. 2. Jampong: $15 good broth, better than some sit-down restaurants and the overall flavor was on point. The cook there had the audacity to lecture me when I asked them how the Jajang and Jampong was saying it was like asking them which child they liked better.....ok, I get it...let it pass. Then I asked for a napkin and this is where it really turned south....the cook to be crass, had nothing in his hands when I asked, then grabs a radish kim chee with his thumb and index finger takes a Bite and while having the other half in his fingers, grabs a paper towel roll and rips me a sheet with his pinky finger.
