The food here is better quality and they offer more deals. Service was good! There was only one server but they were attentive and we received our food within a reasonable amount of time. Hanshin Pocha is that one restaurant for the late night eats and drinks if you choose to do so. This is not the first Hanshin Pocha I've been to, but this location is pretty spacious and can easily accommodate small groups. We saw a big group of 20-ish that tried to combine their tables, but since they were circular, they wouldn't connect very well. I tried their Spam Kimchi Pancake, Pomegranate Soju cocktail, and chicken wings, in a mild buffalo sauce. I liked the pancake, and it was just the right amount of sourness from the kimchi. It tasted great with the dipping sauce. The chicken wings were dry and small. The promo for it looked better than in person, so if we were to re-order I'd choose a Korean fried chicken. The service is attentive, and the place is great for all types of occasions. In the corner of the restaurant was also a photobooth which I didn't get to check out but might be easy to miss. We stopped by Rowland Heights on our way home from LAX and stumbled upon Hanshin Pocha off of Gale and Nogales, just north of the 60 freeway. There are plenty of eats in the area and we thought this would satisfy our hunger for something hot and satiable - and open late night! After perusing their menu, I was drawn to the steamed egg and, likewise, the rest of our party wanted the same thing. We were only a party of 5 (4 adults + 1 child) so we thought we would order 2 of the steamed eggs and a couple other items. When we placed our order, the server questioned us why we ordered 3 and asked, "Are you sure?" We said, "Yes." After bringing out all our orders, we understood why the server asked his question; the steamed egg dish was a huge portion!!! Whoa! It was really good especially since it was cold outside. Missed this vibe, just having casual drinks with friends with Korean bar food so I took my parents instead. I only started eating chicken feet few years ago, I was a little skeptical at first but fell in love with them when I discovered the spicy chicken feet! I used to LOVE the ones at DAN SUNG SA in ktown but those were hard to eat because they were grilled and the meat was extremely hard to get from it. Hanshin's spicy chicken feet with soup is great! We ordered their Beef belly tokbokki - spice level was just right, the beef belly gave it a deeper flavor although the meat could be a little bit more tender. 4 stars Chili and garlic chicken - fried whole chicken pieces doused in sweet chili and garlic sauce. Flavor is good, I am missing the crunch from the fried chicken. 3.5 stars Boneless fried chicken and fries - fries were hot and crispy, the chicken was not. This would be a great choice for those who enjoy mild tasting food. 3 stars Pork and chive pancake - the pork pieces were seasoned well and tasted great with the chives. My personal preference would be for the pancake to be a little crispier. 4 stars It's a casual dining place with many tables and chairs good for small and big groups alike. Service was prompt and attentive, even though our server was working the dining area and cashier station by himself. Parking can be an issue because of the many establishments in the plaza. We ordered the Spicy Pork n Cheese with DIY Rice Balls which was not only decadent and delicious, but it will also easily fill you up. Service was solid. I think we interpreted the menu picture wrong for the chicken as we were expecting it to be crispier with grilled onion but it was more of a grilled/stir fry chicken dish. Went here for the first time a few months ago with some friends to try something different! None of us had been to this Hanshin Pocha or any of their other locations before. What we got and how they did: Pork BBQ with cheese and gochujang sauce - this was the best combo, delicious pork cooked perfectly paired with the melted cheese pull, this was almost the first to go. Korean Fish Cake Soup - this was so subtle, light and delicious. Compared to other korean places I'd been to, the broth was a little lighter flavored than I've had, however it had a generous portion of broth and a lot more fish cake than I expected. I had a little bit leftover to take home to the husband to taste. Kimchi Jeongol - yes we got two soups? Why, because I wanted to try them both! We finished this too. It was full of flavor and just the right amount of spice. Carbonara Tteokbokki - This paired perfectly with the pork BBQ, I think the contrast of spicy and creamy just went together. The only thing we disliked was that the sauce was a little tooo thin, we wished it was thicker like a true carbonara. We had all dishes combined and almost finished everything, it was so good. I've been to the original location many times so I'm glad to see they expanded. For me the MUST order is the spicy squid and the cheese hot plates! The Rice was also fun to mix and tasted ok. Thanks to the Yelp community for this delicious lunch that my friend and I had at Hanshin Pocha. We were having a "ladies day" and wanted to get lunch somewhere we'd never been. Checked Yelp and came up with Hanshin Pocha nearby. This place did not disappoint. We arrived about 1:45pm on Saturday. The place was empty. Which we were both thinking, "bad sign." But decided to stay and eat anyways. Since it had gotten some really great reviews by other Yelpers. The restaurant was sparsely decorated. A "no frills" kind of place. We were seated immediately. Water was brought over, and menus were placed in front of us. We decided on the Bulgolgi hot pot and the stir fried udon w/ brisket to share. Both were cooked well, savory and delicious. When I discovered that Hanshin Pocha was founded by celebrity chef Baek Jong-won, one of the judges in Culinary Class Wars, I knew I had to visit. As for the cheese pork, it paired perfectly with white rice. The mozzarella cheese was nice and gooey, while the pork was full of flavor. The dishes here are perfect to eat alongside some soju. I was impressed with the Blueadeball (sojuball) because it was just the right strength for me. They do offer happy hour specials before 6pm. This place has been on my list to try for such a long time! They do have great fried chicken but I would say everything else is pretty normal -- not bad but not spectacular either. One thing that I didn't really appreciate was when we told the lady at the start that my friend had an allergy, she not only forgot but tried to blame us for not asking her if each dish we ordered had said ingredient. They did change it to a new dish without the ingredient after we asked a manager to get involved, but that didn't leave the best first impression. (Yes, I did see the weird looks I got from her and the manager when they were asked to replace the dish when we saw the ingredient in question.) Was craving some tteokbokki and found this place on Yelp. I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised with the taste and quality! This is a great casual spot to catch up with friends over some good eats! Parking: shared lot with A LOT of other businesses. Spots are a bit of a tight fit if you have a larger car but I was able to find spots right away despite the busy plaza. We arrived around 6pm on a Thursday night and there were plenty of seating but it definitely filled up as time went on. The service here was great! They were very attentive and hustling from table to table. Our cheese fondue got cold and we were able to ask one of the servers to help us warm it back up. BE WARNED THO!!! When the cheese starts getting hot, the oils from the pork belly will start flying all over the place! We had to learn the hard way why they didn't just serve it like that. No seriously be careful because it splashed into my eye and it hurt soooo much. The tteokbokki was delicious! It had the perfect sauce consistency and the rice cakes were just the right amount of chewy. The pork belly cheese fondue does start getting cold rather quickly and I'd recommend mixing it before it gets cold, tho I did end up mixing it into my bowl of tteokbokki and it melted the cheese! I went on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving and though it wasn't terribly busy, it was lively. To eat, we shared the following: -boneless fried chicken with fries ($17.95) -stir-fried squid ($24.95): stir-fried squid with veggies over fried thin noodles -kimchi jeongol ($24.95): spicy stew made from kimchi, pork, and sausage The food here is excellent. I've ordered the stir-fried squid each time I've come here - both with soft and fried noodles - and each time it's been solid. The squid is spicy and flavorful. Pairing it with noodles helps tone down the spice. I also really enjoyed the kimchi jeongol. The broth was tangy and spicy. We came in for dinner and it was not busy at all so we were sat immediately. The chicken was very flavorful but the cheese quickly harden after a few bites making it harder and less appealing to eat. The soup wasn't anything out of the ordinary and it felt like just a bunch of random ingredients thrown together in a pot. Came here twice recently and overall had a great experience. Whole Fried Chicken - Super juicy and flavorful throughout. I usually get a little bummed when I'm left with just the breast, but even that part was tender and not dry at all. Definitely something I'd come back for. Pork and Cheese - The smoky flavor of the pork left me wanting more, but it does get a little oily and fatty. DIY Rice Balls - A fun and unique dish! They give you gloves so you can mix and mold your own rice balls at the table. It's interactive and surprisingly satisfying. Another reason I'd return. Squid and Crispy Noodles - The dish was good, but a little underwhelming in noodle portions. The crispy noodles were placed only on the side (not underneath like I expected from the photos), so you get less noodles than it looks like. Still tasty, but not a must-order for me.
