I had a great experience here. I met the owner Allan and he was very kind and patient with me and it was a very busy time of day. I was able to get a mailbox for our business and am quite pleased. He didn't make me feel bad at all when I asked for a smaller mailbox for a short trial period, since we're a very small business on a tight budget. The owner, Allen, will call you when there is a package which will save you from having to stop in everyday to check. This is a service for you if can afford to pay 60% upcharge on USPS shipping fees. I had a book that cost 4-5 dollars to ship to NYC and this place charged me 8-9 dollars. I was not clearly informed going in that this was the case. This place could benefit from being more transparent. Shouldn't this be written somewhere in the store? After visiting the US post office and learning their rate, I discovered that this business charges that much extra to bring it to the post office for you and you don't have to wait in a line. That's it. Honestly being a person with a car and ability to lift my own packages, having a middle man service like this makes no sense. I wanted to ship some handmade books as an independent publisher and this place caused me to lose money. If you need this extra help, go for it, but I will be skipping this extra, expensive step moving forward. Allen the owner was super friendly and cordial today when I called him on the phone and let me know that they offer shredding for documents. One of the things that I've been looking for was shredding locally but I only had two boxes of business stuff so a mobile unit was just not cost-effective. Bin is available here that are locked up and they send them off site and he charges one dollar per pound for the materials that are being shredded. As indicated in my earlier post, service was good until I notified Alan that I was moving and wanted to stop service. Alan suggested I pay for an additional one to two months in case any mail came that I had forgotten to forward or that fell through the cracks. Unlike other mail services, he would not hold any mail for me or charge me a forwarding fee which I found odd. I paid for one additional month as suggested, but when he suggested an additional month "just in case," I declined. There were a couple of very important pieces of mail that were subsequently sent---fell through the cracks---and when I asked Alan about them he said anything that came in after I left was returned to sender, however, the sender never received anything. I've spent hours dealing with the non-returned mail with sender. I was a good customer for six years and really disappointed that I had no options other than paying for additional months for maybe one or two pieces of mail that fell through the cracks. I now have a new service that holds mail upon termination of service and have told me that they're required, by CA law, to do so. They also forward mail for a fee. They were very surprised when they heard what happened with Mailbox Planet. Clearly, Alan wanted to make a few more dollars at my expense. read more
