Where do I start. For one I called them numerous times and left voicemails only for him to never call back. When I finally got ahold of him, we scheduled a delivery date and I even sent him all my information. The delivery date came and passed and I never heard from him (continued to not pick up or call back) so I called on a different number and when he picked up I asked him what was going on and he interrupted and said "I have another call, let me call you back in a minute tops, I promise" I said no problem. I called A1Shredding 9:47 a.m. and received no answer. I called back at 9:56 a.m. and they answered the phone. I asked if they were open until 2:00 p.m., which they confirmed. At 1:27 p.m., I arrived at A1Shredding with the back of my SUV filled with my shredding. I was told by the worker that the "machine" was turned off because it was full, and by the time he empties it and got it turned back on, it would be 2:00 p.m., and they would be closed. He did not even pretend to feel bad about wasting my time. Frustrated, I left and called a different shredding company nearby. I have been coming here for years. They used to let us see how they shredded our full boxes of personal info paperwork in the TV monitor that was mounted on the wall and we could see them shredding it from far away. Now, they have blocked the view with plastic containers. No more TV monitor to watch them shredding all those papers. Their excuse "we have put those Plastic containers because of COVID" Wait a minute! You guys are not even busy! Why do you block the view from the shredder? What does plastic containers has to do with COVID? There's more than 6 feet distance from the entrance to the shredder machine! Why you guys doesn't have that Tv monitor where we used to watch you shredding our personal info? All of this looks very shady for some reason. This is a red flag for me. As good as the reviews say it is. There's not much to tell. I had 5 paper grocery bags filled with years of household paperwork. I pulled up and brought the bags to the front door. The man working only charged me $24 (he said it's $12 per banker box) and I was on my way. I was there for less than five minutes and I got rid of all that stuff. I've been coming here for a few few years are used to be $10 a box and last time I went it was $12 a bankers box. Last year I came and they didn't update their hours so it was closed even though they said they were open. And they changed some of their policies around watching the items getting shred and when I asked about it the response was very combative instead of being very neutral and sharing their new structure. read more

I did research on different places to bring 20 boxes or whether to have the mobile company come to my home. It seemed cheaper to bring them to the place. So I loaded up and drove over to Burbank (not the closest place for me). The young woman who helped me was absolutely great. Smiling. Helpful. And helped bring the boxes in. But at payment time it come out to be $200! Other places had much more reasonable prices. Ex. As always, I prefer to deal with local businesses. A1Shredding has great pricing, easy access, and a very nice owner. I had a pretty big box of sensitive documents, but was in and out in about 10 minutes. I watched the owner shredding my papers near the back of the business, which was comforting to know it was being done on the spot. The pricing is better than any other shredding services that I contacted. Their hours of operation are limited, but not a problem from my perspective. Hopefullly their business gets back to pre-Covid levels and they are able to justify being open more hours each week. Support this local business! read more

New Year's Resolutions: 1. Lose 10 pounds (not a chance) 2. Catch up on all medical appointments (just has to happen!) 3. Shred old documents that are taking up unnecessary space in my house #3 was by far the easiest to accomplish. Found this place on Yelp and was drawn to the idea of a quick and easy way of getting rid of old documents safely. Drove up, parked the car, unloaded two huge garbage bags of stuff. The nice gentleman quoted me 10 dollars per bag. I paid cash. He then proceeded to load everything on a conveyer belt while I watched my stuff being shredded on a TV monitor. It took about 8 minutes and that was only because the gentleman had to answer a phone call from his boss. I can't describe the sense of relief upon seeing all my stuff being shredded. On the way home I felt like I lost 10 pounds without even trying. Took care of two resolutions at once, yeah! So I'm in the middle of moving back to Europe after 16 years LA. Of course a lot of paper has accumulated. Then you have this little paranoia that any mail written with your name on it and you just toss it in the trash bin, you will be a victim of Identity Theft. So again, there was a lot of paper, 7 boxes to be exact. They were those office boxes and those small Home depot boxes. So I was quoted $10 for each box, total of $70. Which I found to be absolutely reasonable and cheap for the fact of not having to deal with it any further. I failed to ask the gentleman's name, who helped me today. But the business card says Vilson. So, I hope I will be giving thanks to the right person. I was there at 10a on the dot and the gentleman helped me right away and got a trolly to get all the boxes out of my car. I was able to see how my stuff got shredded to bits and pieces over a tv screen. After everything wa shredded, the gentleman only charged me $60 since 2 boxes werent full. I am very careful with my documentations. I searched a local shred company and loved these reviews. I came early on a Wednesday before noon ( I assumed it's a non peak day / non peak hours ? ) No other customers were there. Only one worker was there and I told him I had 3 standard size boxes for shredding. He asked if I wanted to just drop it off or wait to watch it shred. I asked to stay & watch. He said he just turned off the machines and have to clean them. I would have to wait 15-30 minutes?!?! I was in shock. But what was I supposed to do? So I waited in my car. He put the yellow chain up suggesting he was closed / cleaning. I waited & he wasn't even kind that I waited. I filled the highlighted paperwork. Seems untrustworthy. (I believe they are under new ownership.) After reading the good reviews and getting a referral from a friend to A1, I was very disappointed with the quality of service and don't think I will go back. The roll down metal door was so low I had to duck down to see in, and the shredding area was almost out of view. There were large "crates" wrapped in plastic that left a very obstructed and narrow view to the back of the shop where the shredder was located. These crates were placed in a weird way that made me think they were purposely trying to obstruct the view. There was no monitor, (that I could see), to watch him shred my documents. Then when he was using the shredder he placed the box of papers in a spot that completely blocked me from seeing him placing my paperwork into the shredder. You would think that if you're shredding peoples sensitive documents you would try to make them feel completely comfortable and have everything completely visible. It was all very strange. Terrible place. I asked them about how they charge. They said $10 per box and asked me to proceed to fill up 10 of their little boxes. Once I finished the employee got irritated and said you know what I don't want to do your shredding take your stuff and go somewhere else. After contacting the one 800 number, I proceeded to loading the boxes back to my car to go somewhere else. Employee comes out with a Taser gun threatening me that if I don't leave right now I will be tased: one-of-a-kind experience.. employers got real issues. read more

I've seen some negative comments which are baffling. The service was precisely what it needed to be, and done in a friendly manner. I had a couple of large boxes to shred, brought them in, was greeted and told how much it would cost. The employee took the boxes, began shredding them, and allowed me to watch the entire process.
