On September 3, 2024, I made an appointment for the content of my dad's storage compartment to be shredding. It was where he stored his medical/legal/IRS files, many that he kept far longer than he was required to. Total Shredding kept me informed by text of their arrival time. They were on time. The guy worked so hard and was so fast even in 100 degree heat at 1030am. The storage room was an inside unit so it wasn't like an outside unit he could just drive up to and start loading into the shredder. There were 63 bankers boxes carried out and loaded into the shredder in less than an hour in a 100 degree heat. He shredded the boxes on site and when it was done he gave me the total number of boxes shredded and the total($464). Very reasonable. Then Amy called me to confirm my email address and sent me the certificate and receipt. This was not only the lowest quote, but the fastest shredding quoted, on site in my presence. Im am SO glad I finally made it to get rid of all the mail I let pile up. I went around 12:30pm last Tuesday. It was difficult to park, but you can get away with double parking if you don't block driveways and leave enough space for big trucks. There were two people in front of me in line and I was still in and out within 10-15 minutes. The price is now $15 per box! It took less that 5 minutes for my mail to be shredded. I had two recyclable bags. One full, the other not so much. The gentleman at the counter was kind and swift. You can also see him shred the papers for those of you who worry about that. read more

I used them recently the price was fair, I gave my credit card over the phone when I scheduled the appointmen. They came, the guy was nice, shredded my docs, "maybe" and I never got a receipt, proof of shredding certificate, nothing. Now I wonder if the screen I was watching was just a movie of something being shredded and are my documents now being sold or exploited. Also, when I call, the phone usually goes to a personal voicemail, not a company sounding voicemail. Is this a franchise? I guess but I won't use them anymore. It's just weird. read more

Our homeowners association needed documents to be shredded. I called on a Monday, didn't have to go through a phone tree--actually talked to a real, live person. She set up a truck to come to shred on-site on Wednesday. Not only did they show up early, they completed the work in about 15 minutes. There were about 20 boxes of documents. Do not use this company because they are not honest. I told the lady on the phone that I had 31 boxes. The day of, my dad and I counted 31 boxes before we rolled them out. When the truck arrived, the asian guy just started shredding so I didn't think much about it. When he was done, he asked me to sign a paper and left. This was my mistake without looking at what I was signing but on Monday I called the owner to let her know that we had 31 boxes but was charged for 41 boxes. That her driver did not count the boxes and just started shredding. She told me it has to be standard boxes (which is what I had) so I asked her what does standard box mean? She said she will ask the driver and call me back but I never received a phone call back. My total charge was $250 and I know I was overcharged by 10 boxes so $50. I will never use them again or recommend anyone to use them. I usually use JP Shredding in Monrovia, their prices are very reasonable and they are a honest family business. Their prices are much cheaper than this company and the service is much better. I didn't use them this time because I needed a Saturday appointment. My advice is to HAVE THE DRIVER COUNT YOUR BOXES BEFORE HE STARTS SHREDDING THEM so they won't overcharge you. read more

I live in Northern California and was in town to finish that awful job of sorting through old papers in my parents' house. Total Shredding came up on a Google search. I clicked on another shredding company, just for price comparison. I decided to go with Total Shredding, because their price offered more value, and they were able to pick up my items to be shredded the same day I ordered it (I later found out it was because they are in the Costa Mesa area on Tuesdays.) I emailed for a quote online received a prompt response (less than 2 hours). I booked it and Luis was the associate that came to pick up my box to shred. He was very friendly, professional and prompt. (He was also the one that gave me insight about the days Total Shredding is in certain counties, as they are located in Arcadia). Everything was done as expected or exceeded my expectations. They arrived precisely when they said they would. I was met by Michael who was very friendly, courteous, and professional. They explained the whole process to me while they were working. I thought it was going to take an hour and a half at least, but the whole process of shredding 65 boxes only took about 20-25 minutes (I also had the boxes of paper by the door already, so they did not have to go that far). I really appreciate the mobile service since it allows me to stay at my office and I have the security knowing my paper is being shredded on-site. I will definitely call them again next year. The only reservation I have was scheduling. I was told that they would arrive between 1-4 PM and would call me 30 minutes before they got to my office. They called me 30 minutes before and arrived when they said they would, but I feel that there should not be such a large window of time when they are to come. I would think that they could be more precise when making the appointments. But I am not sure how they need to schedule their jobs or anything like that. I called a couple places, Total Shredding has the most competitive price AND they shred on site. The other companies I called had similar pricing but only if they take your documents to their site. Cheaper prices and safer destruction, can't beat that. I don't know how we compare to their average customer but we shred about 30-40 bankers boxes every time we call them. They usually knock out the whole job in 15-20 minutes. AND as a super bonus, I recently found out they can just empty our file cabinets for us... Now we can save all that time it takes us to even box everything when we destroy previous years documents. read more

This is the second time that we have called Total Shredding to help relieve us of our paper hoarding buildup (we have to save some documents for a number of years). Worst experience ever. These people are so rude and difficult to deal with. We tried for 4 weeks to get them to come. The first two weeks they had issues with the truck being full so they cancelled on us. Then their receptionist (who's English is poor) could not convey messages to the driver correctly adding a great deal of consternation. They're limited in capacity as well as availability. When I finally was able to speak with the driver he said he was only available on Thursdays. To top it off the receptionist hung up on me! I was aghast to say the least. Total Shredding totally saved the day when the previous shredding service I hired was being all around unprofessional. I called in around 11am, and within minutes I was already scheduled for the 2pm-5pm slot on that same day! I was still a bit skeptical cause the previous place has scheduled me quickly too but didn't come through in the end-however; Total Shedding did not disappoint. Michael, the driver, called me to notify his arrival in advance. Half hour later, he arrived at my office looking tired and sweaty. Hardworking! I had a completely different experience than the one below. I called the company on Friday late in the afternoon and was easily scheduled for Monday (two days later). The person on the phone did have an accent but was able to communicate effectively. She took time to answer all questions I had. The scheduled time was 1:00 pm and at 1:00 pm on the second, I received a call telling me the driver was on his way. He arrived within 15 minutes, was polite, friendly, and very helpful. The process was extremely easy and we were done within minutes. He greeted my husband and me with a big smile, was cheerful and we didn't have to do a thing (he lifted the heavy boxes). Our company used Total Shredding for a job at our storage shed up in Santa Barbara today. We were very impressed with their professionalism all the way from quoting a price up to the actual shredding. We were allowed to pick a 2-hour window of time that would work best for us, and then our driver, Mike, called ahead to let us know exactly when he would arrive, so we had no wasted time and weren't waiting around.
