Great place with a small town homey feel. I came during the lunch hour and ordered the chicken club. The sandwich was excellent, avocado was fresh, the bacon was thick and flavorful, and french fries were amazing. This is a small town and the staff was on par with what you would expect. They weren't zipping around the restaurant barking orders at each other like you would find in a busy city during lunch hour. They took there time and were polite which was a nice change of pace from what I typically experience in Houston, TX where I live. read more

Brandon was THE MAN! Brought my girlfriend here tonight! We had the best time! Super awesome ambiance, great food, incredibly kind people... It seriously was great. I am very sorry to have to write this review. I really hate to share anything negative online but it has been so frustrating, I need to. Last year, In August, my husband and I came to the Springville location for our anniversary. At the last minute, my son came into town and so we invited him along. The food WAS TERRIBLE. It was just so bad,,, no words... cold chicken, cold alfredo, the blackened chicken had so much green topping it was overwhelming. We were promised gift cards when the manager came in and we have called several times and spoke with both managers and re-promised a gift card to return and nothing. It ahs been months and several phone calls and still NOTHING! We went there hoping for a wonderful time celebrating and found ourselves focused on the poor quality of food and now an extended period of time of poor service. Very disappointing. read more

Wonderful service, super great food, ice cold salad with dressing on the side started dinner off. Had a serf and turf kabob. The meat was tender and pink, just the way I like it. Medley of mixed veggies were slightly crunchy, the way they should be. Riesling wine was suggested by my waiter and was perfect for my meal. I lived in Utah over 10 years ago and it was a very pleasant surprise to go back 2 weeks ago and celebrate my birthday with a small diner at Magleby's and see that it was just like I remembered. Service was great since I emailed for a reservation until the moment we waved good bye to everybody there, we were just happy !! The manager (not sure if it was the owner) came and checked how we were doing. We ordered a little of everything, Blackened Chicken Pasta, Filet Medallions, Chicken Marsala and of course the famous Chocolate Cake. We loved the decoration and although it was a new place in Springville there was something that makes you feel like home. The staff was very friendly and accommodating, though the server seemed awkward, possibly new. The food arrived hot and delicious, steaks cooked to the desired rarity and the chicken encrusted macadamia nut had an awesome and light tasting coconut glaze. I went there for a dance date and for a busy night they seated us quite quickly, the service was great and not pushy it felt really smooth and easy for us to talk with the waiter. They brought us bread sticks which are to die for!! So we asked a friends advice (who was working) on what to get and he said that the chicken marsala and Mac n cheese were good so we took his word on how good the they were and we all were not disappointed! The live music is a nice touch that most restaurants don't feature so it gives the restaurant a great feel and atmosphere. I went to Magleby's with a nice coupon that got us about 25% off of our meal. I was super excited to go, as I was taking my brother there for his birthday. What better present than an outing to an upscale restaurant? Well, it wasn't so great. At the end of the meal, even though we got no appetizers, and no special drinks, along with no dessert, our meal came to $32 WITH THE COUPON! Not to mention it didn't fill either of us up. I am an 18-year-old guy, and I understand that most regular portioning doesn't fill me up. But when I pay $16 for some Chicken Marsala, it had better taste REALLY good, or there'd better be a lot of it. Unfortunately, the meal just so-so. The waiter was nice but didn't ever go out of his way to really make sure our meal was good. This restaurant was a painful experience for my wallet, and an unsatisfying experience for my stomach. I can say without ANY doubt I am never going there again unless I go with someone loaded with cash who'll pay for everything. Even then, the food quality isn't worth the time spent waiting for it. Showed up to Magleby's at 5:00 on a Friday evening. The place only had a couple of customers seated. Hostess asked if we had a reservation. We said no, but noted that the restaurant seemed empty. She said they were having a special at 6:00 and had a lot of reservations. We pointed out that it was an hour a way and she said that if she sat us, we would only be able to sit for 40 minutes because they had to have the table ready for their buffet. My husband said, so if it takes 25 minutes to look at the menu, order and get our food, you will kick us out if we are not done eating in 10 minutes? It was crazy and really quite rude. I felt like they really did not want our business and it was all about the buffet. so much for fine dining...it is just another all you can eat, serve yourself kind of deal. We decided to go to Magleby's last night to celebrate my husband taking the LSAT. Besides one other family, we were the only ones in the restaurant on a Monday night. We had been seated for probably 15 minutes and were ready to order by the time someone came to check on us. It ended up being the bus who got us our bread (so delicious), water, and drinks. About 5-10 minutes later our waitress (she had an unusual name that I can't remember) took our order. She promptly brought our soup and salad but it took 30 minutes or more to get our entrees, which were both filet mignon. Staff had already started putting tables and chairs away before we had started eating. At this time it was about 8:20 and the restaurant didn't close until 9. Our waitress, along with most of the other staff, was standing behind the counter drinking sodas and chatting. When the food did come, it was phenomenal. Best french fries in Utah County without a doubt. We waited awhile more after we were finished eating before she came back to take our dessert order. We got the chocolate cake and the two of us barely put a dent in it because it was so big. She kind of acted like we were taking her away from her hang out time, which I didn't appreciate when I'm having a $100 dinner. Had it not been for the terrible service I would've given Magleby's five stars, but the fact that we were her only table and still were ignored was ridiculous. read more

The restaurant is open and airy but the food and service are terrible. We ordered the shrimp cocktail as an appetizer. There were more shrimp than expected but the sauce was watered down Ketchup. I ordered the Chicken Fried Steak and there was no flavor at all to the meal. I asked for mashed potatoes and got over cooked seasonal vegetables. By the time they brought my mashed potatoes over I was done with the entree. My husband ordered the Blackened Salmon Caesar Salad. The salmon wasn't blackened at all and was a little rubbery. Our daughter ordered the spaghetti with meat sauce. (One of three kids items on the menu). It was served cold and the shredded cheese on top wasn't melted. Two of the dinner salads arrived 5 minutes after the entrees arrived. Everytime we asked for something such as a beverage, a fork, extra dressing or a food item the wait staff had to go downstairs to get it. It took forever to get anything. The spaghetti sauce was out of a jar, the blue cheese dressing was ranch dressing with a small amount of blue cheese thrown in it. The Caesar dressing had no flavor what so ever. I will also point out that the manager made his rounds 4 times while we were dining. Not once did he stop at our table to check on us, but he did stop at the other 5 occupied tables to check on the customers. As we were departing the manager said "thanks for coming in and I hope everything was great" I mentioned that he intentionally avoided us while dining because he knew we were not happy with the service and the food. He said he knew nothing about it and wanted to know what was going on. He listened to our complaint, but he lacked sincerity and concern. I believe he is used to customers complaining. he didn't have much to offer other than saying "sorry". Our bill was $65+ for two adults and a small child. I would never complain if the food was good, but I'm guessing I could have had a better meal at a fast food restaurant over this place. In all my years eating out (4x a week at upper scale restaurants, this is only the second negative review I have ever written. This restaurant is over rated and over priced. We ate in the restaurant to try some of the dishes and really enjoyed the food and atmosphere. Our budget for our wedding dinner was a bit tight, but the staff was able to recommend delicious dishes with extra touches that made a huge difference in the style of our reception without spiking up the price. We loved the breadsticks and the chocolate cake! At our reception, the service staff was terrific. The server was kind and we got 2 helpings of their delicious bread sticks. The waiter took our drink orders and my 10 yr old and 7 yr old wanted raspberry lemonade. He comes back with these MASSIVE glasses of lemonade for the kids. My husband and I were thinking, "Is this the drink that comes with the kids menu?" We order our kids meals from the kids menu. We got the Pasta Alfredo and the Chicken Strips with fries We were disappointed when the Chicken Strip meal was delivered - there were 2 TINY strips of chicken & LOADS of fries. My husband ordered the Petite Fillet Medallions. The sauce on top of the meat tasted like seafood - which I didn't care for - steak should not have a seafood sauce! I ordered the BBQ chicken quesadilla, it reminded me of something I would eat at Chili's. We got our bill and the Raspberry Lemonades were of course NOT part of the kids meal and were $4.00 each. Seriously? I was a bit irritated about that - the kids didn't even finish the darn things. Live and learn! The salmon with plum sauce was amazing but they don't currently have that. They have berry sauce on salmon which is almost as good. The servers are very professional and attentive and they give out hot cheese bread as an appetizer! They split our meal and we got huge, healthy, fancy side salads! The portions are very large every time I come, and I get stuffed full! The vaulted ceilings, large windows, waterfall, marble floors, fancy hand soap, and everything is so beautiful and elegant! The manager was so kind and let us get some deals since my old job was at a business nearby so we could offer their employees discounts in exchange! The Creme Brulette had berries on it and was delicious! This is one of the best restaurants in Utah County and I want to take my parents there when they come visit from out of state. This place is very impressive! My only other suggestion is that it is a little intimidating checking in when there are 3 up front and if they know me and don't have big smiles every time I see them. It would probably be better if they don't stand there talking at the front since it is a large open room and they are in eye-sight of all the guests so that guest don't think they may be talking about the guests they know who check in. Seriously, this is the worst restaurant I have ever been to. My boyfriend and I are from out of state and just wanted to grab a beer and a burger. The beers were almost room temperature, in which he offered us "cold glasses". Those were warmer than the beers. We then ordered burgers, in which he didn't even ask us how we would like them cooked. After waiting about a half hour and not receiving our food, he comes and apologizes for the wait. My boyfriend asks "how do you guys cook your burgers here if not specified?". He says medium well. My daughter, my husband, and I stopped by for dinner. The atmosphere is great, with high ceilings and beautiful stained glass windows. Our server, Erin, was very friendly, helpful, and took the time to recommend dishes based on our likes. We had the Spinach Artichoke Dip for our appetizer, which was very tasty, creamy, and fresh. My daughter loved her Fresh Raspberry Lemonade! For our entrees, I had the Charbroiled Tenderloin Salad, my daughter had the Chicken Italiano, and my husband had the Rib Eye Steak. Stopped here for dinner after a long day of driving. I was VERY favorably impressed with this place. Greeted at the door and seated immediately (6 pm), host very friendly, asked where we were from, etc. Delicious warm butter roles served immediately and they kept coming until we told the waitress to stop! Food was excellent and reasonably priced. I had an open faced turkey sandwich with mashed potatoes and gravy and real cranberry side. Real white meat turkey piled high, real,potatoes with some skins evident, lots of tasty gravy--all for $9. My wife had a huge southwest chicken salad, very fresh, seasoned chicken, she couldn't finish it all. They are famous for their four layer chocolate cake and we got a piece to go, complete with forks and raspberry sauce. Service was outstanding, lots of attention, very nice clean cut young people. Place was very clean, in a beautiful old building. I seldom write these reviews but this place deserves my time. It will be the place we eat when staying here in the future. They do a few things the best so that seems to be what they stick with. The All you can eat French toast comes with homemade syrup and there were generous portions of everything. After making a 15-seat reservation for 8:00 on a Friday night, we arrived 10 minutes early and were told my the manager Dennis that we'd be seated in a few minutes. After several inquiries, complete lack of customer service from Dennis (at one point he walked by and said 'what a bunch of idiots') and over an hour after our reservation (which apparently doesn't mean anything), and complaints from myself and several others from the party, we were seated in a back room at tables thrown together and holding only 13 chairs. Luckily we only had 14 arrive in our party so we pulled a chair from the side. No utensils. No menus. It took about another 10 minutes for utensils to be laid and our drink order taken. Still no menus. Eventually we got our drinks, we had to ask for menus and had our orders taken (at this point those who chose the buffet option were already 1/2 way through their 1st plate). At long last, 1 hour and 40 minutes after our 'reservation', we received our meal. While my salmon was good and my husband's shrimp tacos decent, those who ordered the much more expensive fillet medallions received tough hunks of meat that were less than impressive. In fact - the ONLY thing that was fast about the service was the processing of the checks. Dennis the manager DID deduct 20% of each check as an apology for the wait and lack of up front service - I can only imagine he did this because so many of our party did complain to him and not out of the goodness of his heart. His customer service skills weren't just lacking, they simply did not exist. On the other hand, our server was a very nice young woman who definitely earned her tips and is the only good thing I can say about the restaurant. Neither my husband nor myself have ever experienced anything like this. It was so bad that we (the entire group) were openly talking about it at the table, and not using our 'indoor voices'.We are never going to Magleby's again. We will never recommend, and will likely discourage any and everyone we hear express interest in going there. I cannot say enough negative things about this restaurant. Again, the one redeeming factor was the server. I hope they know how very lucky they are to have her. read more

I've eaten lunch at Magleby's Springville several times in the past six months. There were no delays, and the salads, bread, soups, and entres were all very good. The free chocolate cake is definintely a plus. The size is just right. Who wants a huge piece for lunch anyway? It's free, after all! Friendly, professional servers. Worst service ever. The food was good but our waiter was slow, forgetful, inattentive, and even a little rude. We were a large group and they should have assigned two or three waiters to our table. At those prices they can afford it. The waiter brought the salads for some, then just ignored the rest of the group. After waiting about a half an hour, and not being able to get the waiter's attention, I finally had to go back into the kitchen to get my salad. We had to ask for drink and water refills and then wait 20 minutes or more. The manager gave us free chocolate cake to make up for the bad service after several complained, but that was not enough. Magleby's is a regular stop for us! Even for dinner, we order off the lunch menu and get our favorites for less. They have gone through a lot of changes lately, and things were a bit off for a while as they seemed to be constantly revamping the menu, but things seem to have settled down lately. We LOVE their All American Burger, and I crave the sweet potato fries and fry sauce! The chocolate cake is also a HUGE favorite, and I suggest getting the boxed cake! For some reason, it seems moister, and on Thursdays, it's half price! The lemon cake is also awsome! All in all, I am happy to have Magleby's close to me! I love going for date night, or when I'm out with my friends, and they are welcoming to children as well. I always love trying their special dishes, like their Mango Salsa Salmon and am looking forward to hitting up their Prime Rib and Crab Legs buffet one of these days! I have to say I was very disappointed in our experience at this Magelbys. We were very excited to see Magelbys in Springville, and so we decided to try it on my husbands birthday. We went early, about 5:00 pm on a Friday night. We ordered the spinach dip as an appetizer, I had the 1/2 chicken avocado sandwich with clam chowder, and my husband chose the hot turkey stack sandwich. The server brought out their famous breadsticks, which were delicious. Then a different server brought out the spinach/ artichoke dip. IT WAS RUNNY! Seriously? It's a dip, not a sauce! When we asked about it being so runny ( we though they might have forgotten to cook it) the server just shrugged, and said that's how it always is. When Our regular server asked how things were, we told her we were disappointed in the dip, and she said I'm sorry. When the manager came by and asked how everything was, we told him we were disappointed in the dip, and he said, " I'm sorry" Maybe not a big deal, but when you're paying those prices, I felt they should have offered to bring a different appetizer, or take it off the bill. Neither were offered. The rest of the food was fine, though not sterling. I gave it two stars for the breadsticks and live piano music. I took off three for the spinach/ artichoke dip, and the way it was handled. read more

Menu is just okay. They are stuck in a bit of a rut. Sometime they just assume you want upstairs instead of downstairs Grotto dining if you bring a baby. I don't even ask to go downstairs anymore unless they ask me. Food is better when the weekend manager, I forget his name, is there. Much better quality and he backs up the quality. When the other manager is there, she doesn't seem to have much credibility. When I returned a dinner dish that had rotten crab on it, they didn't taste it, they didn't review it, they did nothing to prove I was right or wrong, they just threw it away and although the waiter wanted to comp the meal, when I told the manager and asked her what she thought of the crab I sent back, she said they just threw it away and offered half off my meal. I guess I watch too many Gordon Ramsay review shows on TV, but in my opinion, if you aren't excelling in what you do in restaurants, your restaurant will likely suffer a slow death. Great servers, good people, and good chocolate cake, but my advice is always have a coupon as the food many times is just okay and doesn't excell. read more

Just plain awful. Maybe we had bad luck because this place looks and seems really nice. My wife and I both got soup to start. While the waitress was handing us our food she said, "let me know if it's not hot enough." That statement alone told me she knew it wasnt hot enough but served it anyways. Of course, it was room temperature. We asked for hotter soup and she brought us some more with our entrees and it was the exact same temperature! What was really bad though was my entree. I noticed on the menu that they had a prime rib sandwich for about $10. What I ended up getting was NOT prime rib. It was a single quarter inch thin piece of meat kind of like asada and was totally charred and burned. It also had about 3 small onions (totally burned) a couple small pieces of lettuce, and a dime sized dollop of sauce in the very middle of the sandwich. It was completely juiceless shoe leather that taste like char. One of the worst things I've ever eaten. The waitress was sorry and substituted it for a turkey sandwich that wasn't very good either but filling. Check came and no discount was given. I still gave her a good tip since she was very nice but whoever cooked that sandwich and whoever checked it to pass need to get new jobs. I wished now I took a picture so everybody can see this supposed "prime rib sandwhich." DO NOT ORDER PRIME RIB SANDWHICH! read more

this place is the bomb dot com. great service and super clean. the staff is quite friendly and the managers and pretty swell guys. if anything, the dessert it delicious. you gotta go with the chocolate cake, and if you're not a chocolate lover, id recommend the buttermilk pie (with ice cream) or the creme brulee! ill definitely be going again. be careful though not to blink! or you may miss the building if you're not from around that area.... read more
