We had the opportunity to experience a wedding luncheon with this great restaurant. It was for our son's wedding. The staff were so friendly in working with us planning the event. The manager, Jake, was very friendly and remembered all of our requests. When we arrived on the wedding day, it was perfect. Every single employee that was involved with our event was extremely professional and kind. The food was incredible. The venue was absolutely beautiful. We were able to enjoy our time with our guests on that very special day. Everyone loved the beautiful space and the food. It was a huge hit! One of the nicest restaurants in the Spanish Fork/Springville area! We love it! Love the bread rolls, love the salad and love their Halibut! The building is one of Springville's historic buildings that has been fully restored. The aged brick and stone is amazing and we love the open atmosphere. Magleby's catered our wedding in November 2016. I'm now just coming around and rating all of our vendors. I was introduced to their service during one of the Bridal Conventions in SLC. They had us at their impressive set up so I scheduled a tasting appointment with one of their consultants. Their food was sooo good and their consultant gave us so many options to choose from! We ended up with their Hors d'oeuvre option which they don't offer anymore. This option was perfect for our small kinda large wedding! I did most of the setup and planning so I was able to talk with Magleby's multiple times over the week of the wedding. I mostly emailed but they responded promptly. After searching for cake options, I couldn't find a relatively affordable price. Luckily, Magleby's offered a discount on their cakes since we were going with them for catering. Their chocolate cake was AMAZING!!!! I also submitted pictures of cake designs so their baker could replicate it which they did perfectly! Our guests were alittle turn off when we told them that it was only Hors d'oeuvres but, the day of the wedding, they were impressed by their set up (the consultant had asked during the tasting what our theme was so they could match their setup with it) and the taste and how filling the food was. The meatballs and bread pudding were a crowd favorite. The only negative thing I could say is that communication wasn't the greatest at the beginning. I kind of felt forgotten because, after our tasting, the consultant told us that she would email us the price points for our order. However, I never heard from her. Two weeks later, I was the one who actually called and spoke with Keri, the supervisor, to get a hold of the consultant. Apparently, our consultant was leaving the company and had forgotten. If I wasn't impressed with the service's options and food, I probably would have gone else where because who forgets a bridal order. After that point, the communication between Magleby's and myself was much better. I'm glad I went with them! read more

Magelby's was one of the best places to eat at. We went in for a wedding tasting and it was a 10/10. The food was not just fantastic but the customer service was unmatched. Amber, who helped us, made us feel so comfortable and did everything she could to fulfill all our needs and even went above and beyond to satisfy us. The salmon, chicken marsala, and the steak were superb and i've never tasted anything that good. The mashed potatoes were unlike any mashed potatoes i've ever had. I've been here three times now and regretted it all three times. I've had two steaks that were overcooked but I'm not the type to send food back and wait for a new meal when the rest of my party is eating. We held a wedding luncheon here and it was perfect. We enjoyed the lovely private room with tv screens and sound system for a slide show. Everything was set up when we arrived and Darrell did a great job of taking care of us the whole time along with the servers. It was so convenient to not have to RSVP with a meal choice. Our guests had a choice of 3 entrees and picked their choice upon arrival. The food was delicious! My salmon was perfect. Highly recommended! They are slow. They brought the salad out after we had almost finished eating, it took 3 requests to get it, we still had to pay for it. I won a $10 gift certificate for Magleby's last year and since my husband and I had a date planned at the Springville museum we decided to use the gift certificate at the Magleby's there. We were amazed by the interior beauty of the Restaurant. There was also pretty classical music playing which was a little louder than it needed to be to create a relaxing atmosphere. We were served right away and the staff was very professional. The menu options on the cover were too high for our budget but as we looked further we both settled with $8 sandwiches. My husband ordered the Gyro which is lamb with cucumber dill sauce on a pita. He enjoyed it and was quite full after the meal. I ordered the Turkey and Avocado sandwich with sweet potato fries. The sandwich was HUGE! Much more than I expected. It was delicious! Very flavorful. Normally I prefer ketchup over fry sauce, however, the fry sauce that was served with my sweet potato fries were so so good! The food certainly deserves a five but I give this restaurant a 4 because of the music volume and the fact that we were seated next a fan which caused us to be a little on the chilly side. read more

I have not had their food, other than the cake, but it really is the best cake! Everyone that I have heard that has been there has said it is definitely worth the price, although that is the very reason I have not been. We went here the first time for my Husband's Birthday- we signed up for their rewards & they sent him a $10 off coupon! It was amazing! Staff was very friendly & attentive, food was great, atmosphere is high end yet cozy. We got the Raspberry Lemonade (which was refilled often without even asking!) & complementary bread. Decided to try an appetizer & the Spinach artichoke dip was amazing! The side salads we had were also very good & ranch seemed home made. I got the rustic Penne Pasta & it was a hearty enough meal to save leftovers- generous with the cheese & bread on it! My Husband choose the chicken fried steak & right away commented that it's the best he's ever tried! His sides were really tasty & I kept stealing bites of his mashed potatoes. We had to get the award winning chocolate cake of course & it tasted just like my Grandma used to make! Generous serving of ice cream & a raspberry sauce on the side. Terrible. Made a reservation for 20 on my sisters birthday. When making the reservation they did not know what a "spirits menu" was. I had to explain it was beer and wine. The said "yeah but not a lot." Should have been my first red flag. Got to the restaurant and some of our party members had dropped out and we were a smaller group. Asked if we could move some tables to accommodate a different size party. The manager walks towards us and complains that the tables will block the server walkway and they have lots of parties and cannot accommodate us. Very rude and unprofessional. Waited 30minutes for water 45 for wine and beer. Over 1 hour for food. What a horrible experience. Will not bring a group or recommend this restaurant. Ordered the salmon. Food was over priced for the Grotto Menu and the salmon was fishy and over cooked. All of our meals semi-warm and mediocre. No member of the group was impressed with the food. read more

I have LONG been a fan of Magelbys.. It seems like forever. First. I love the chocolate cake. Yesterday (dec 6, 2011) I went with a group of friends from work . I know that large groups are a pain, however! I ordered the unlimited soup and salad. Soup of the day? Creamy Chicken Noodle. Was is tasty? not bad, on the cold side, but not bad. Was it creamy?? Not even close. My food, out of all the group, came about 10-15 minutes after EVERYONE else was served. I had to eat my broth and salad in a big hurry.. So, unlimited (I would have liked some more soup) turned out to be one serving before I had to go. I love the Halibut (having had it on several previous occasions, but yesterday was 100% In their defense they did tell me that one of their servers called in sick.. but I didnt see the place as being really full, so I dont know why that would have a bearing. read more

Our department visited Maglebys in Springville on one occasion and were mostly disappointed. Service was slow and the food was only at par with local competition, which is not equivalent for the price difference we paid. A coworker ordered a medium well medallion and was corrected by the server stating "Do you want it burnt?" My Coworker agreed with a medium instead but upon delivery of the food ended up with a RARE covered in gravy to hide the issue. Our server corrected the issue but never really apologized; or communicated with the manager again putting their foot in mouth and stated, "we have a few cooks that tend to under cook things." (Again, not something one wants to hear in a restaurant of that caliber.) I ordered the Prime rib sandwich mainly for the chipotle aoili, and was disappointed at the overall dry taste of the meat and sandwich not to mention the huge pieces of fat that took up the majority of my sandwich. The highlight was probably the bread and those that ordered the chicken piccatta. I would say the staff needs to practice a little harder and the cooks need to really try their own food (under-cooked medallions, overcooked Prime rib, dry chalk Halibut) And most of all an establishment like this should not have anything called the "Blue Plate" special, that is an old term and does not send the right message anymore. read more

The atmosphere is great, but the food was just okay and pretty pricy. Kneader's does much better sandwiches. The Parmesan herb bread sticks are good, like everyone says! I had a French dip sandwich. The onions on top were tasty and the cheese was nice and melty, but the bread roll was mediocre, the au jus was flavorless, and the meat tasted like it had a packaged gravy on top. My clam chowder side was good, though! My dad had a beef medallion that was overcooked. He ordered it medium well (I know, I know) and it was definitely well done. "Shoe leather," he called it. His salad was not fresh; it looked like an old bagged salad. However, my mom had a burger that she really enjoyed! "Five stars for the burger," she said. Finally, we had a slice of buttermilk pie, which I had never seen before. It was basically a vanilla cake dumped in a pie crust with raspberry and cherry sauce and whipped cream on top. The raspberry and cherry sauce was delicious and fresh, but the pie (really a cake) was nothing special. The crust (edges and bottom) had gotten burnt to a crisp in the reheating process. The cooks were clever, though; they covered the burnt crust in whipped cream to hide it! Edit: after a little bit of research, I learned that a buttermilk pie is supposed to have a custard filling. Our slice at Magleby's was so overbaked that it lost all of its moisture and was very cakey! Not custardy at all. read more

I can't speak about the upstairs portion of the restaurant -- only passed through -- but I've eaten downstairs at the Grotto a few times now, and I very much enjoy it. On one visit I had a ribeye that was particularly good (not NYC dry aged good, but "best I've had in Utah valley" good). Other visits have not been quite so memorable, but the food has always been yummy. The atmosphere downstairs -- with no kids allowed -- is quite subdued, which normally suits me just fine. However, on one visit there was live music upstairs, directly above our heads, and that sort of ruined the otherwise atmospheric vibe going on down there. Service has always been friendly and adequate, but don't go for a quick meal as the pace can be pretty relaxed. (Again, my kind of place.) read more

We had family come in from California. We decided to go to Magleby's. We had a pretty large group. When we arrived for our reservation we had waters on the table and were promptly seated which I loved. They brought out some amazing rolls and took our orders. I had a side salad with my meal which was huge and so yummy. I also got the chicken marsala which I was so delicious with the best steamed veggies. Then the family split to of there "famous" chocolate cake. Wow its massive and so good. I get why it's famous. We were very excited to dine at this restaurant. Then we ordered our food. At 6:30 pm the only prime rib they have is medium to well done. This restaurant touts prime quality steak. I'm not sure what that means in Utah but in California it should be a high quality. We ordered medium rare steaks and received medium steaks. Had to ask for more than 3 bread sticks. The wait staff was continually apologizing for service. They did reduce the price of the meal due to the inconveniences. They also offered free desserts to compensate, but they were limited to cakes, not something we would have chosen. It was a confusing and very dissatisfying experience. read more

Rolls For The Win, but the chicken marsala was pretty good. It was a creamier sauce than I'm used to, but it was flavored well. My service was quick; slowness wasn't an issue. The chili really wasn't very good...dunno if it was a regional thing, or just an issue with the restaurant. I'm used to a robust, spicy, hearty chili, and this stuff was thin and sweetish. I like the chocolate cake, and the store itself was very tastefully decorated and trendy.
