It's Memorial weekend. We decided to go to Mt. Pleasant over the weekend before the big rush on…read moreMonday. We couldn't find anywhere to eat at Mt. Pleasant so we drove to the Spanish Fork location. My mother-in-law was opposed to us stopping here because she has a bad experience 30 years ago. We talked her into giving ac second chance. I ordered #2 Hanks Country Breakfast which included a chicken fried steak, hash browns, eggs, and biscuits and gravy. The chicken fried steak was crispy and not too much gristle like you would get with most cfs. The gravy was had a nice hearty flavor and with black pepper infused with the gravy. This gravy tastes really familiar to me. I thought I took a picture of my dish. I guess I didn't. The gravy was the same gravy that was on the biscuits and gravy. Again, very familiar with the b & g. The hash browns were cooked in butter not oil and had a nice light brown crust on both sides. I really appreciated this. My scrambled eggs were nice and fluffy and had a nice firm texture. I also ordered the Crazy Eights which is supposed to be "Italian Donuts" with Carmel and chocolate sauce drizzled on top with a chocolate dipping sauce. The "Italian Donuts" turned out to be the Utah Scone chopped up in triangles. I enjoyed the caramel drizzle but not the chocolate sauce, which was too bitter for my tastes. After thinking about why the biscuits and gravy tastes so familiar, they remind me of the biscuits and gravy from the IHG (Holiday Inn, etc) hotels I frequented when I was on the road. These b&g are supplied by Sysco Foods. Like I said, they taste a little too familiar for me. I'm not complaining, I really like these! What I am complaining about is how you order. I think using the phone at the table to order our food reminds me of the old "Training Table" restaurant chain. I didn't appreciate the "rules" on how we needed to order and that we couldn't split the check. They didn't even deliver the food to our table. I definitely won't be leaving a tip for service! My other complaint were the restrooms. They were nasty. I would've rather went in the bushes behind the building. Check your restrooms!!!! Good thing I didn't go in there before I ate.

The fries were crisp but needed salt. Luckily the fry sauce was free flowing. Our server was kind and friendly. She was super prompt about greeting everyone and making sure the dining area was clean.

I've thought it the best salad by far from any fast-casual dining experience. I've noticed in the last several months, the quality has wavered and gone down from years of experience in ordering this item. Salad seems to be smaller. The new bacon bits seem odd. The freshness of the salad leafs are not always fresh. It's just not as good as it used to be. On top of that, the girl bringing the food to my table was not customer friendly. I dont often review restaurants because i find most average at best. Some are terrible, they might…read moreget a review, but a few I really like. Those that I like have to meet a few requirements that I have for eating. I have celiacs, so i avoid gluten at all cost, including any moderate chance of cross contamination, Corn also bothers me so another food that I avoid. beyond that I am picky with what goes into my food and how the food is prepared. Now to the review. the first thing I do at any restaurant is ask about their gluten free options and about cross contamination. This was the first day that the Provo location was open, so I expected there would be blank stares. believe it or not that happens a lot. Here they knew about some of the food but not all of it when it came to my questions. So they went back to ask, "I want to make sure so let me ask". the next thing i knew I was speaking to the owner, going over all of the items and the options I had and what to avoid. He made some suggestions and we went ahead with our order. I got. the tri tip steak and my wife got gnochi. Oh another thing about how i like my food. I like the ingredients, steak, potatoes, vegetables, etc, seasoned and not the other way around. I find a lot of places over season their food. Not here. the steak, veggies, and mashed potatoes were lightly seasoned, just enough to enhance the flavor but not overwhelm the core ingredient. the steak was tender, the vegetables perfectly cooked and seasoned. I didn't even try and figure our what seasonings they used, I just enjoyed the meal. Short of this part of the meal, fantastic. With the gnochi, we had a little bit of an issue. There was a problem with how they were cooked, they were a little stiffer than they should be, but the sauce they were in was fantastic. BTW, they are not gluten free, so this is my wife's perspective. When they asked how our meal was we mentioned that to them. They looked at the gnochi and agreed. they then didn't just correct the issue, but went above and beyond. They asked if we wanted something else, made a suggestion since we couldn't decide and prepared that for us. They also did something else while we were there. They tried to make more batches of the gnocchi, not for us but so that they could see what went wrong. Then came back and told us what they had done and the results. The service was some of the best I have ever had. They had a good selection of gluten free options, depending on your sensitivity your options might change, but there are plenty of options and a few that are not on the menu. The owner suggested a burger on mashed potatoes, even though they have a gluten free bun. My gluten sensitvity is pretty high, so he was providing as many options for me as possible. All in all, I really liked the food, the service, and the attention to my food sensitivities.

They were neither heavy nor fluffy, but a delightful in between and they had a great flavor even plain. I had the caramel waffles and my mom got the lemon curd ones and both were fantastic. My dad got the pancakes and said they were delicious. All the full meals were fantastic and a good value for the price. The drinks not so much. $5 for soda and $6 for juice. They are bottomless and the owner came around asking if we wanted refills or if we wanted our drinks in a to go cup at the end of the meal. So that was nice, but I'd still rather have a $3 cup of juice. I didn't have the cinnamon rolls (or maybe they call them sweet rolls) but they were small and didn't look too appetizing. The overall experience, environment (seating, light fixtures, decor, and doodle books), and meals were all fantastic!
