Yesterday was our first visit at Magic Groomer and I think it's safe to say my dog loved it as much as I did! When I got there my dog decided to do his business right outside and as I was struggling to pick it up and hold his leash at the same time a very kind gentleman came out and took my dog inside so I was able to pick it up. Forgive me if this review may seem amateur, for I haven't taken my dog to many places to be groomed before. Located on the busy street of Duarte, this groomer is tucked in a not so easily spotted a between the seemingly closed shops nearby. The groomer is a nice lady whose always stepped above and beyond in terms of fitting into our schedule. She'll do her best to fit our dog, Ally, in no matter how tight the schedule seemed. Our pet is pretty skittish and would scream with the slightest touch from a stranger. The lady was always very accepting of Ally's behavior and gave her the special treatment she deserved. Though I've only visited 4 places in searching for the perfect groomer. I find myself revisiting Magic Groomer time and time again. I been taking my puppy here for baths and light trim a few times and this last week I took him for his first haircut . They told me would be a few hours which I was fine with , hair cut of course was nice on my doodle. However the next day his eyes were swollen and inflamed. They were rushing him that day since he was last. I had to take him to the vet because it has been itchy on him and eyes are just worse ! The worst part is I called to let them know and all they said was oh I'm sorry I'll let the groomer know. Customer service is terrible . My heart is so hurt ! Sometimes the people who are working there cannot speak English; this makes communicating with them difficult. I've been here twice. The first time I asked them to cut off about one inch of fur, they ended up cutting the fur really short so that it was only one inch was left. Total miscommunication, but my dog still looked pretty cute so I took her back a second time for another haircut a couple months later. The second time, I dropped my dog off a little early with an appointment for 3pm. I asked what time she would be done, they said around 5:30. I was meeting people for dinner at 6:30 so I wanted to make sure I had time to pick her up and take her home. I got to the groomer at 5:25 and paid for her haircut so that I could be ready to leave at 5:30 to make sure I wasn't late for my dinner. I waiting around until 6:05pm, my dog came out with an uneven haircut but I was already going to be late for my dinner so I had to just take her and go. The people working there were really nice and said they would be happy to fix her uneven haircut if I brought her back another day. I brought her back two days later and they evened out her face. While there, 3 more dogs came in for grooming. Why do they take so many dogs in at one time if they only had one person working there? The other three dogs were just put in cages to wait for who knows how long. Why make an appointment for your dog to sit in a cage? Unfortunately while cutting her fur, they also accidentally cut her (see picture). This 2 star review is because (1) the lack of respect for an appointment time and (2) because they accidentally cut my dog but didn't mention it to me, maybe hoping that I wouldn't find out? After a couple of good experiences with this place, today I learned they are not at all consistent. I have 3 dogs - one being a Husky. The Husky came home today worse than she was when she went in and looks like she has been through a battle with a honey patch or something because she has clumps all over her. I didn't know whether to leave this review or not. After seeing what a difference it was after changing to pet groomers, I realized this place must hurt the fur babies we trust them with. I'll begin with one of the very weird times I brought two of my dogs, one is a maltipoo and the other a yorkie mix. I had made the appointment for as early as 11am. Usually they'd be done within 2-3 hours. When I had dropped my dogs off, we only had one that was getting groomed before mine and there was no other pets there. I assumed mine wouldn't take so long. After the 3 hours passed I called to ask if my dogs were almost ready. They responded with they were still showering them. Another hour passed, same thing, I called, same response. It made no sense. I kept calling every hour. They literally didn't have my dogs ready till they closed!! 8 hours had passed and they were finally done with our dogs! Everytime I'd bring my maltipoo, she'd shiver with fear in the car. I just assumed she had fears of car rides and would buy things to keep her calm. Once I changed to a new location, my dog since they has been so happy and different. No fears of being in a car. Another incident happened before the change of groomers. I usually get my cat who has long fur shaved every summer. So I brought him to Magic Groomer to get shaved. After picking my cat up, he began to act out. He was always that really sweet, calm cat. Ever since, even up to today he's really aggressive and won't let anyone touch him. He even began staying outside majority of the time and has severe anger issues ever since after his grooming. I always felt upset not confronting the ladies here asking what did they do to my cat and dog for them to react this way. Anyways, if you care and love for your pets I suggest you go elsewhere. read more

We recently got a new dog that we adopted. She is still a little scared of everything but overall very curious. We tried getting her groomed at PetSmart but a new girl was still training and my dog absolutely hated her. We went to magic groomer and they were fantastic! The shop is super clean and they did a great job with my new dog! She was clean with a great haircut. I am extremely impressed as they did their best with my new fur baby. They know what they are doing and are also being safe about COVID-19. The parking is in the back and so is the entrance. This place is awesome! Zack and his mom were so good to my 3 month old Dachshund. They filed his nails and gave him a good bath, despite having to muzzle him, and they were very accommodating and gentle. I was skeptical about the bad reviews I read but Zach said they were fake and promised to do a great job. Bought a really cool little house for Duffy which he already loves. Their boutique has some neat stuff. They booked the appointment with 1 day notice when I could not get another one anyplace else and the dog was done in an hour. Prices very competitive. today was the second time I took Mochi here. Why I came back? it's because I can see that they truly love your furrvbaby.. So Mochi HATES going to vet and groomer. He knows it right away where we are, even from the parking lot. when we were inside, He just wanted to run away. But the lady was able to bring him in. When we pick him up, I saw him just roaming around freely inside the glass room. The lady told me that he hates being in the crate. I really super duper appreciate what she did.. it was stressful enough for him to go to groomer and she understood that and let him not be in the kennel. I loved everything about Magic Groomer except my dog always came back with fleas. I kept going back because the store is so cute, they could always fit Buddy in and he got a good haircut and tooth cleaning. But all 4 times I brought him he came back with fleas even after I told them to keep him away from the dogs getting a flea shampoo. I guess since they offer flea shampoo people will bring dogs with fleas but they have to do a better job of separating them. read more

I've been brining my Yorkipoo (Freddie) to Magic Groomers for a while now - so this review is long overdue. The staff is absolutely amazing! They do an awesome job cutting his hair and I trust that they will give him the best cut possible. Sometimes they cut it short - sometimes they leave it a little longer (usually depends on what kind of mess he's gotten to between cuts). The sweet owner always comes out with a smile and speaks to Freddie with affection, which makes us comfortable leaving him behind for a couple hours. If Freddie needs special attention while he's being worked on, they don't hesitate to call us with their recommendation and will always ask for our approval first.
