Milo and Juno
Olivia D.

My huskies, Milo and Juno, are super smart. They learn tricks and do them really well but only if I have treats. I had one session with Alden and he gave me a lot of information for me to work on their obedience. He was really friendly and patient with me and even sent me some videos to make sure I was keeping up. They are definitely getting better and have stopped pulling a lot on walks!

Chilling in the yard!

Alden is an excellent trainer and is very reasonably priced. In just two sessions he helped me address the behaviors I was dealing with my two large, young dogs (standard poodle and labradoodle). As soon as we would go outside they would run around and play really rough. Now I have the tools to chill in the yard with them and reward calm behaviors. He also helped me address their behavior when people come to the door. He also helped me see that I was very anxious about their behavior and they were picking up on that. I highly recommend him! Very balanced approach, a blend of positive reinforcement and correction.

I saw Alden's flyer at our local dog park and contacted him for help with our black lab puppy. We needed help with correcting some behaviors and getting her to consistently follow basic commands. Alden helped us with a board/train option. We got regular updates on her progress and still have her Report Card on the fridge. Alden help her settle in place, not tug on the leash during walks, not jump on people who came to visit and trained us in how to support her and be consistent with commands. Alden help us identify areas where we were being inconsistant and made thing confusing for our pup. He even did a check in with us a few months later and helped us polish our skills. I have recommended Alden to everyone I know who is seeking compassionate and thoughtful training for their furry family members.

Ask the Community - Pawfectpups Board and Train

Hi Alden! Do you do potty training with puppies? I have a 14 week old Westie and I have tried with the pads and it's just not working for me. If you do, would she be trained at your place or ours?

Is the trainer a Certified Professional Dog Trainer? If not, how many years of experience does the trainer have with training large dogs?

I imagined her making brownies, popcorn, having a BBQ and not turning off the grill afterwards. Carried away-then I remembered this is Molly, our favorite cat, and prepared to have someone else in our messy house. The manager "Mollie" was very organized. We, were very detailed. I organized food in one cabinet, with post-its for info, post-it where her room litterbox was after already giving info to the manager I think it helped make things simpler. We started getting daily reports, with "basics" box checked. They were thorough, precise, and complete. My Dad worked for Polaroid for 20 years, and these pet sitters were awesome at taking pictures. Every day we'd open up the emails and this noise would come out of our mouths: not ooh! Yecch! But...: Awwww, look at how cute she looks. Her wariness and caution as a cat showed, but her shyness rounded the corner a bit. I will never use them again after my TERRIBLE experience. Initially used this service for a short business trip with success so tried again for a longer trip to see family between Christmas and NYE. The company sent a sitter I had never met who incorrectly used the pill injector on my sick, elderly cat and forced her to swallow the over inch-long applicator tip. Resulted in $3,000 emergency vet surgery to remove that I had to manage from out of town. So deeply stressful for me but mainly my poor elderly asthmatic cat!! They handled it but SO unnecessary and only happened bc of their bizarre business model where they pick whichever of their employees are available, not someone who knows your house/pet. So if you get one who knows what they're doing you don't necessarily get them again - it's totally random from the customer's perspective. Instead of enjoying my family I had to spend the time managing the emergency they created from afar, stressed and fuming that I trusted this company to send someone competent to care for my sweet older cat. After the first disastrous pill delivery issue they sent the **same person** again a day later who clearly doesn't know how to give a cat medication and she, again, incorrectly gave my cat her medication!!! My cat gets ill if she misses just one day, the medication is a high-dose steroid for her asthma. The employee did not know how to give her the pill, but still marked the medication as administered on their form (I only figured out it didn't happen when I read the notes) and instead of giving her the pill rubbed it on her gums -?!? I am FURIOUS for my poor cat and at the incompetence of this employee they continue to use, along with the management that assured me they know how to give cats medication and yet still sent this individual out after it was proved that they cannot give a cat medication effectively. The other employees seemed to be ok but I had no choice over who they sent over, meaning every visit was a gamble. If you need anything beyond the most basic service, avoid avoid avoid!!!

First, when we arrived, we weren't allowed inside--not even into the front office. Instead, we had to fill out all the paperwork outside. When we asked to see the play area where the dogs would be spending their time, we were also denied access. This raised concerns about transparency. Inside the office, we noticed a TV monitor and asked if it was used for pet parents to check in on their dogs during pet play time , Kevin told us no. This meant that once we left our dog, we had no way of knowing how they were being treated or interacting with other dogs. When we asked for a visual reference of the play area, he only had a few photos, which showed a couch and some toys--not the engaging and structured environment we were expecting. We did leave our dog for the initial evaluation. Before I left I asked him if he can take a video for me for todays at least, so that I can see how my puppy interacts with his stay , he then assured me he would be able to do that. My husband and I left to grab a bite, and returned in 45 min. When we returned I asked to see the video, and he said he did not take a video of my puppy interacting. After we left we discussed it and didn't feel comfortable with the lack of access and transparency. We ultimately decided not to bring our dog back. While we can't say anything negative about how the dogs are actually treated, the fact that pet owners aren't allowed to see where their pets will be playing or how they are interacting raises concerns. For us, peace of mind and trust are essential when leaving our pet in someone else's care, and unfortunately, we didn't get that here. Kevin appeared to be a nice gentleman, and maybe a bit old school, but this wasn't for us.

Our dog absolutely loves going for both daycare and overnight stays. Our dog has occasional gastrointestinal issues, and the owner is meticulous about following her specific diet without us having to worry or remind her. She recommended Sarah at Happy Dogs Happy Owners when we mentioned we were struggling to leave our dog home during working hours. Needless to say, we're very glad we trusted our trainer. Maple has been going to daycare three days a week for seven months and literally scratches at the gate to get in and see Sarah/ her dog friends every morning. She comes home completely tuckered out and sleeps the rest of the day. I just know Sarah is doing a good job by how much Maple loves and trusts her. Aside from the playtime, Sarah will also bathe our dog, clip her nails, and express her anal glands upon request for very reasonable prices. She is always responsive via text and I've even been known to text her for advice about any odd issues that come up. My only complaint is that we don't live closer to where Sarah is! But the 20-25 min commute to drop off/ pick up Maple is so worth it to leave my dog in the hands of a great sitter. 10/10, would recommend.

At 110 pounds, he can be a handful. I was impressed with Sarah's attitude and the ease with which she handled him. We dropped them off for a brief (45 minute) introduction so she could assess their personalities and ability to mix with her pack and mentor dogs. Everything went fine, and I was relieved. During our trip we got a ton of photos and text updates. Scout tried to escape 2 or 3 times, but Sarah handled him with ease until he adjusted. She makes sure all her boarders received the individualized care they need, whether that be segregated eating, play time, etc. Our dogs ended up mixing seamlessly with the pack. She made sure they get plenty of exercise, mental stimulation (nose work, mental exercises, interactive etc.), physical exercise (bike rides, play time, obstacles, etc.). Our dogs were very, very happy. Sarah is very experienced with dogs, and she cared for our dogs with love, integrity, and leadership. What do I mean "integrity"? Sarah treats her boarders like ger personal dogs. Every single dog gets her love, her time, and the leadership they need to get along with others and enjoy a calm, but fun filled stay. If your dog won't safely mix, she won'ttake your money and keep it caged until you return. She'll tell you she cant handle your dog and that's that. If you care about your dog, you'll find that peace of mind is priceless. We highly recommend Sarah and her services. In fact, we're decided to do doggy daycare once a month purely for the socialization and enrichment our dogs will experience. Sarah is the real deal and a gem. She can handle multiple dogs and their individual personalities with ease, and ours were greatly enriched during their stay with her.
